Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
So far, it had already been quite the day. It all started off when the five fifteen flight to New York, which of course just happened to be the very flight Warren had preselected, was undergoing a slight maintenance revision. What ever that meant. It ended up extending his vacation just over an hour and a half. The icy cold Colorado weather didn't make his wait all too comfortable either. The flight itself however was fine, despite the fact that it wasn't the type of flight Warren preferred. It was the unrelenting phone calls, the very ones that made most of his vacation seem like a more relaxed extension of work, that got under the skin of the former playboy. Even away from Worthington industries he was always somehow drawn right back into it's business and politics.

From the airport, Warren was greeted with the usual white limousine. To tell the truth, it felt great to be back sitting in luxury of his own vehicle. Granted he owned his owned vehicles in Aspen too, but that was different. Those were vacation cars, but this, this was reminiscent of home. Which just so happened to be the first place he told his faithful driver to head for.

As the long, seemingly endless vehicle passed the all too familiar rod iron gates, Warren found that the days worries were quickly fleeting. Glancing through the black tinted windows, Angel observed the beautifully scenic property as if were the first time. He loved this place, and rightfully so as he funded a good amount of it, but more importantly than that he loved it's inhabitance. As the car came to a slow stopped, Warren graciously smiled into the rear-view mirror. "Thank you, driver. You can have the rest of the day off, I doubt that I'll be going anywhere tonight." And with that Warren slipped open the door, he didn't need a driver to do such a thing for him. Such small acts could make him seem like an elitist, as if he were trying to rub his wealth in others noses. As he slipped from the Limousine, Angel intentionally dropped a small tip where he was seated before closing the door behind him. As for luggage, Warren hadn't any. All he needed could be found at any of his residencies, there was no need for packing.

Fully outfitted in a soft tan colored suit, their matching slacks, and A pale yet neatly pressed blue dress shirt; Warren stood before the unwavering might of the mansion. It almost seemed like the building had grown another fifty feet in just a matter of weeks. Striding slowly up the front steps, he began to wonder whether or not he had left his keys and identification back at the aerie. As much as he hated the thought, it was a possibility. "Someone's going to hear the buzzer. There's always someone around..." The mutant millionaire reassured himself in a fading whisper. As Warren brought a hand to the buzzer, his fine silver cufflinks glinted in the sun. "Come onn.." The irony of yet another frustration brought a bit of a smile to his more than handsome face. Sure, it was funny now, but surely it'd get tiresome soon enough.

Re: Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
Eliza reclined into the padded seat she had been occupying for the last two hours and let out a sigh. It was not that she was bored… it was just that she felt as if she was only there for decorative purposes rather than anything else. But then again she did not really know what she had been expecting when she had signed up for this. She had been excited, when Beast had told them that as they were now fledgling X-men they could take an active part in the schools security. It had seemed like the perfect thing for her to do, so that she could feel as if she was actually useful to the defence of her friends for once.

She had often wondered what it would have been like to be born with an offensive power, one that made you strong and allowed you to actually stand and fight, rather than hers which was extremely useful in its own right but only allowed her to help with the retreat rather than the actual fight. But then she considered herself lucky as her brothers power had played a sadistic joke on him allowing him amazing strength but only in a world not his own. Not wonder he was bitter. She sighed again, Darren had been in a particularly fowl mood this last week and it didn’t look like there was anything she could do to brighten it, especially not sat here staring at monitors that showed her different views of the school where nothing seemed to happening.

She turned and glanced at Jamie and wondered how he coped with doing this all day every day. But then again he had a power that enabled him to be in several places at once, so maybe he changed which part of him was on guard duty everyday so that they would not get bored. For once she wished that she could do the same… she would have a part of her always keeping an eye on her twin and a part reading a book and a part out riding. And then the rest of her could see to classes, chores and anything else that needed doing. She smiled as she tried to imagine what it would be like to be split into several separate people.

The sound of the gate buzzer nearly startled her out of her seat; everything had been so calm that the sudden noise had been unexpected to say the least. Brushing a stray strand of magenta hair out of her eyes she turned her attention to the monitor that showed her a view of the gate. She recognised the figure standing there almost immediately, marvelling at how elegant he managed to look even in the small monitors. She had known Warren Worthington, for a long time now as she had been born at the institute and raised there for their first few years. She had a strange relationship with him though; she was not as comfortable around him as she was with Beast, Storm or Scott. There was something about him that always unsettled her somewhat… maybe it was how comfortable he was in his own skin that made him different.

But she had no time to dwell on, as she could not just leave him standing in front of the school. And besides the quicker she let him in the quicker he could tell her about the mishaps of his latest business trip. She looked over at Jamie who nodded his permission and she pressed the intercom button on the desk in front of her.

“Xavier’s institute for the gifted, please identify yourself.”

She was just following protocol but she was finding it rather amusing to have to ask on of the schools teachers to identify themselves. It made her feel important and more than a little cheeky.

Re: Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
It was a bit shameful really, forgetting his keys like this. The fact that he could be so irresponsible weighed a bit more heavily than it likely should. Granted to most it probably wasn't a big deal, but the blond business entrepreneur had always been his own worst critic. A flaw that most weren't even aware of, just a small part of a greater hidden collective. Although such flaws were only mere fragments of his persona, they were still locked away from public eyes. Perhaps it was A subconscious need to convey perfection, or maybe it was just fear. Either way, the fact was that Warren didn't allow many to know his whole self. Student's were no exception in this case either, hence why it may seem that the other staff members hold better relations with the students.

“Xavier’s institute for the gifted, please identify yourself.”

Clearly the voice wasn't Jamie, as most would likely expect. Instead, it was replaced with vaguely familiar vocals. Obviously female. Yet still, Warren found himself not so much drawing a blank, just unable to associate sound to face. Casting aside this curiosity for a moment, Warren replied in a calm manner. "It's Warren.." Was he supposed to state his full name? This whole thing was relatively new to him, having to deal with security and all. "Eliza..?" A bit delayed, but it finally came to him.

It was ironic really, mentally failing to place someone such as Eliza. One would think it'd be quite hard to forget someone with such obvious differences. But, that was due to a small yet wondrous part of Angel's personality. No matter how much emphasis he himself placed on his own physical appearance, he still somehow found it so simple just to look past it all. Really, it was just another of other countless mental contradictions, and near impossible standards, all of which he would only hold himself to.

Standing before the massive intimidating doors brought forth a faint smile. His well kept hands rested gently on brim of his pockets as he waited in stride for the doors to come open. "So, how long have you been on security detail?" Despite Warren's rather lacking relationship with many a student, he still liked to bring himself up to date every now and then. Make no mistake, he cared about each and every soul here, just from more of a distance than others. "A bit more tedious than it probably sounded, isn't it?" Angel intrigued again, his bright gleaming smile showing that he found it a bit humorous. Eliza wouldn't have been the first student to take a days security work with thoughts of something far more exciting in mind.

Re: Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
"It's Warren.."

Eliza watched Warren as he tried to figure out what exactly he was to say in order to be granted entrance into what was technically his mansion. Ellie knew that a great part of the funds that ran this school came from the man standing at the gates and she know found the fact that she was denying him entrance, even if it was only for a minute, a bit shameful. But it was protocol, any one who turned up without their keys had to be identified in order to insure that they meant no harm to the students. And besides she was not allowed to press the button that opened the gates until Jamie had given her permission to.

"Eliza..?"

Ellie beamed as Warren worked out who it was that was manning the intercom. She was flattered that he had been able to tell it was her and remember her name without seeing her. She knew that names were not what Angel did best and that although she had a distinctive face she did not necessarily have a particularly distinctive voice. Eliza turned to Jamie with a look that spoke volumes… she wanted to open the gate and she wanted to do it now. She could see that Jamie was finding this whole situation quite amusing and he nodded his permission to her. But before she could activate the gates, Warren’s voice caught her attention again.

"So, how long have you been on security detail? A bit more tedious than it probably sounded, isn't it?"

It impressed her how accurate Warren was in his guess; she had believed that helping with the security would have been more exciting. But in the end someone had to do it or she had no doubt that this place would no longer exist. For although it posed as a normal private school she was convinced that if the security wasn’t so tight that people would soon find out about what kind of students enrolled here. All they would have to do was catch a glimpse of her, for example and the people would start to wonder.

“How about I answer those questions when you get inside.”

She pushed the button and she could see the large gates start to swing open.

“As I have now finished my three hours of torture.”

She grinned at Jamie knowing that, he could hear the humour in her voice and reached down for the bag she had brought with her. It held a bottle of water and some gum as she had made the wise decision of not bringing any food into the security booth. She had heard stories of students spending hours cleaning the equipment as they had got crumbs in it.

Re: Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
The whole security check seemed to become almost a bit of a guessing game. But, Warren couldn't complain. They were simply doing their jobs, and quite well at that. Besides, for once, he didn't have to rush. There was no need. For some odd reason, God only knew how, the debonair mutant was left with a wide chunk of free time in his schedule. Truthfully, he wasn't all too sure he'd even know what to do with such a thing anymore. Free Time..? It even sounded like completely foreign concept. For a moment there, Warren found himself wondering whether or not his fellow staff members had managed to pull off such a thing as of late. It was no secret some of them desperately needed such. Specifically Scott and Jean, last he knew the both desperately seemed to need it. No doubt the rest of the staff could use a bit sanity too. Hopefully with him back around to give hand, it might lessen the load for the others.

“How about I answer those questions when you get inside.”

“As I have now finished my three hours of torture.”

That was a more than a wonderful suggestion. Almost as wonderful as the faint creak given off by the gates as they came open. Graciously, he passed through. Angel had a stride exuberating with both a strength and grace to it. It was a refined walk reminiscent of many a business entrepreneur. But his bright blue eyes, and unmistakable smile often seemed to ease the whole intimidation factor one might expect. Stopping not all that far in, he glanced over in their direction. A slight nod went to Jamie, acknowledging him. The two were quite familiar. Jamie being a former member of X-Factor, an offshoot team Warren himself essentially created. That fact that the team wasn't up and was a little disappointing, but just a tiny matter on the larger scale. As his attention went back to Eliza, Angel offered up a faint smile. "Only three? Shifts are five hours long. You do know you still have two go, right?" It was tease, honestly he hadn't any idea how long the shifts were. His grin unlike his tone, gave way to the truth. "Might I ask which way your heading? Perhaps you could keep me up to date me on anything I might have missed around here." Came a more serious tone. Warren was cautious with his words too. Intentionally opting to not use the word accompany, as it could be construed or taken inappropriately by some. A ramification from he Paige's relationship, her having been a student and all. His intentions were harmless, but still caution was necessary.

Warren likely would have gone off had Eliza not stated she was off duty. Where too though hadn't come to mind just yet. The only intentions he thus had were to remove the confining straps that kept his wings pressed tighly to his back. They weren't painful so much as constricting. Demoralizing even at times. It wasn't fun having to hide a huge part of who he was. But, public image had to be kept up. Thankfully, here Warren didn't have about that. The straps were definitely going soon. Although that anticipation did remind him to check with Jay sometime this week. Him being a winged being like himself, Warren thought he might have use for a new pair. Besides, he wasn't really sure where that relationship was, besides awkward of course.

Re: Where angels soar, Yet still manage to lose their keys.
Ellie left the security booth and made her way to the front doors where she stood patiently while the older X-man made his way along the drive. She was glad to see that Warren was home and she was even mildly looking forward to his classes as well. Which reminded her that her brother would probably not be quite as keen to see his teacher as she was; it was terrible how lazy Darren could be at times, sometimes he couldn’t even be bothered to get out of bed at all unless she made him. And unfortunately for him some of Warren’s classes meant getting up hours before lunch which to her anti-social brother was the equivalent of torture. The magenta haired mutant did not have time to dwell on her siblings shortcomings as Warren greeted her with a warm smile and a teasing remark.

"Only three? Shifts are five hours long. You do know you still have two go, right?"

Eliza rolled her eyes at him indicating that she was not amused by the idea of having to sit and watch monitors for another two hours. But she knew that Warren was only winding her up for Jamie would never have let her skip out early. Besides if the shifts really were five hours long she was not sure she would have been able to stand them.

"Might I ask which way your heading? Perhaps you could keep me up to date me on anything I might have missed around here."

Warren’s question reminded her that she was not entirely sure of what she was going to do now; she had just been so happy that her shift was over that she had not given it much thought. But she did not have to think long before her stomach prompted her to decide that a visit to the kitchen was probably in order. She did not think that Warren would walk all the way there with her as he was probably not hungry but they could at least go some of the way together.

“Well believe it or not I’m headed to the kitchen it’s shocking how hungry watching lots of small screens makes you.”

She headed off slowly in that direction knowing that he would follow and started to think of anything relevant that she might be able to tell him about. There were not many things that a 17 year old girl could talk to her teacher about without the relationship being view as something that it was not so she decided to stick to “strictly professional” issues. In this case the fact that she had heard that she might get let on to one of the younger X-men teams which was exciting.

“Well things here have been subdued because of the news about Scott Summers but I have heard a rumour that I may finally be let on to one of the teams. I just hope that my powers can prove to be useful.”
