Why oh why did I have to hire security from www.inept.com?
Morlun: Yes Kayel I am more than aware of the potential trouble the loss of our test subjects may cause. However I have reason to believe that Judas, a certain operative of yours, aided them in their escape...Just what do you have to say about that?
*Leather creaked as a large well-muscled man sat back in the office chair. Morlun's red eyes glowed intensely with a vague sense of annoyance at the loss inflicted upon his research by a sub-standard agent of Obsidian Technologies. Two walls of Morlun's office were occupied by full length glass windows, one of which had access to a balcony with a view of the city below.
The front of the room had two large doors made of thick oak, with ornate brass handles attached, and at the rear was Morlun's vast desk, covered with paperwork, an intercom system to his secretary and other officials within the building, a telephone, and other such essentials for running a corporation. On the wall behind Morlun's desk was a large plasma video screen used for video conferencing with clients and partners, such as Obsidian Tech.
Unknown to anyone but Morlun, behind the video wall lay a secret entrance to Morlun's personal appartments, where none but the chairman of the Agamemnon Corporation had ever gone. The entire top floor was warded with magic and mystic traps, preventing any intelligence gathering equipment working, or anybody entering without Morlun's explicit invitation or permission, unless they were adept enough in the magical arts to dispell the wards.
The vid screen currently displayed a slightly smaller man than Morlun sat at his own desk, face shrouded in shadow. Such was the nature of Kayel, he never chose to show his face, but as long as Morlun thought he could count on the man, it failed to phase him. A somewhat tired, or was it bored? Voice drifted out from the speakers attached to the wall as Kayel responded*
Kayel: He shall be dealt with in due course...
Morlun: Of course. I leave the matter in your...more than capable hands.
*The crackle of static interrupted Morlun before Kayel could respond, and both men's eyes flashed to the intercom system. Picking up a remote control, Morlun apologised to Kayel*
Morlun: Please excuse me, we shall continue this meeting later.
*Severing the video link and pressing the button for the intercom, Morlun irately answered it*
Morlun: Yes what is it now?
Intercom: Sir, intruder present on level 5, repeat, intruder present on level 5. Several units down, suggest you vacate the immediate vicinity!
Morlun: Thankyou for notifying me of this matter Captain. Remind me to talk to you later about early retirement...
*Cutting the intercom off, Morlun entered the area code for the foyer in order to contact his receptionist*
Morlun: Miss Novak, did anyone enter the building in the last hour that I am unaware of?
*Radio silence ensued. the receptionist was either not answering the radio out of nonchalance, or something had happened to prevent her from doing so. A frown creased Morlun's pale features as he got to his feet slowly, brushing the creases out of his purple suit as he did so. A slow, burning anger rose in his eyes and flared under the office lighting. The man was tired of incompetence in his employees, tired of people interfering with his flawless plans. Morlun refused to stand aside this time. This time, the saboteur would answer to him, and him alone. Throwing the office doors wide open, Morlun strode to the elevator and entered. As they slid to a close, the look on Morlun's face was a smug grin. The fate that awaited the intruder was not a pleasant one.*
