Xavier's Medical Laboratory
By the time Heath and Taylor carried the girl out of the limo, Connor sternly suggested that Heath hold her, no sense in Taylor hurting his arm more then he needed to. Besides, if he was carrying her and his arm hurt too much and gave out on him he could drop the girl, he'd never forgive himself if he lost grip of her, and that was another thing Connor didn't want to risk happening, she was hurting enough.
The girl who had been planning on singing had left the group, Angela Hughes had decided to make her why to the teachers staff room in order to explain some of what had happened and who was involved, it was most likely the group will have an X-men questioning them on what had happened. Connor had taken Racheal to the Advanced Medical Lab when he was showing her around the lower sub-levels of the school. But this time they were going up to the normal lab that all students had access to.
Heath easily managed to hold the girl, her weight was nothing compared to walking around in amour, Connor lead them up the stairs and took them towards the medical room, a few students stopped to glance at them with worried expressions. Connor would have never imagined that in a few months they'd be forced to flee this one place that everyone seemed to consider a safe haven, a place of protection.. and place where anyone can belong. Amongst a few other students, Connor was going to be one of the few who will be taken in by a powerful mutant named Amlarie, and unknowingly be working for the Black Queen of the Hell Fire Club. But the Black Queen will be using the new recruited mutants from Xavier's school as a way to have her revenge on Belthazor for his betrayal to her, and since she will be using them for good and be keeping her involvement a secret so the group weren't aware of her being the true leader of the group, no one would know they were being fooled.
But in truth Connor wouldn't care, the high demon had done so many things to him and his family that he would be willing to work for anyone at that point, no matter what side of the law they were on. He had no idea just how much this wounded girl would help twist his life in the coming months, after all, when the school is forced to be abandoned Connor wouldn't be in any condition to lead a group out, so it will be this girl who will lead them out of the school and eventually they would be found by Amlarie and kept safe in her building until they could return to the school.
Sure Connor loved the X-men, but sometimes it felt as if they just had too many rules, and too many people, there was always something happening and the older X-men would just sit around and talk about it! But when they are out on their own with Amlarie, the powerful mutant will be giving them missions to do, people to help, crimes to stop, for once the students will feel as if they are doing something to protect the world. It will be Amlarie who will help Connor get over his fear of Medical Labs, although she will try to help with his claustrophobia, it would prove too difficult for Connor to deal with at first. It wasn't like the students were turning their back on the school, it was still going to be their home, but they would spend most of their time working at the other base with Amlarie and the team.
At first it will be just a big game for Amlarie and especially Gwen Frost, but when the Black Queen sees how determined and loyal the students are becoming, and when Amlarie realizes how she is helping them achieve something they have been deprived of feeling.. success and the feel of being needed, then both women will make the group their sole obsession. Gwen for the first time will be using the Hell Fire Club instead, gaining knowledge from others inside and using it to her advantage in order to help others. In a sense, the group will still be an extension of the X-men, since the students are all from the school, but they will be more free and able to get involved and help in ways some of the older X-men tended to think they were not ready yet to do.
At the lab, Connor hovered by the door while the Heath took the girl inside, he had a bullet inside him, and in truth his body would develop an acidic blood in order to eat away at the bullet and naturally have it removed from him, but since Connor has never been shot before he had no idea that his body was already fighting the foreign object.
Beast wasn't in the room, he was down in the sub levels, one of the nurses was there though, Connor recognized her instantly, in a sense, she was his niece. Talia Wagner was the niece of his sister, Arisa, even though Talia was a few years older. Connor hadn't talked with Talia before, more just seen her around, she tended to hide away most of the time, and spends the day learning things with McCoy. It made Connor uncomfortable to see her for some reason, not just now, every time, even though they were not blood related, she was related to Arisa, and so she was part of his family, but the girl was also psychic, and Connor didn't like the idea of someone reading his thoughts. When he first met her, Talia had not yet learned how to block out the thoughts of others, so Connor and Madison discreetly avoided her so she could pry into their minds, they were very private people and the thought of others entering their mind was not one they took well.
"Talia.. she's been shot." Connor didn't really know if he needed to explain it to her or not, his eyes watching her blue furred body moving over towards a bed and motioning for Heath to place her down on it. "Where's Dr McCoy?" It probably sounded rude, but Connor didn't realize it, he had called Beast and the Doctor wasn't even here, of course he didn't know there was a problem with the Professor, the coma he had been put into was mostly stable, but sometimes it would seem as if he would stop breathing, so Beast spent a lot of time monitoring Xavier closely. Connor watched Nightcrawlers daughter examine and begin treating the girl while he remained at the doorway, his arm resting against the frame to stop the door from shutting while he stood there.

There was a faint static noise from Connor's communicator, which was now visible since he had cut up his shirt and wore only his singlet that he had on beneath. Jean's voice was heard calling his name after introducing herself, Connor eyes staring down at his chest for a moment though at this point in time both his hands where holding onto the doorframe. Part of him felt if he let go of the frame of the Medical lab door then he'd be pulled into the room. There was an annoyed inward sigh as he inched himself a little further out of the medical bay though kept one hand on the door so it didn't shut on him.
"Connor here." The feral sounded a little nervous for a moment but looked down the hall to get his mind off being so close to a lab.
"We found the missing X-men, I need you suited up and out the front in ten minutes," They found them? That means they have found Arisa as well, and if not then at least they have found people who could lead him to his sister, Connor tapped his badge as he replied.
"I'll be there in five." His mind was already absorbing and his genetic structure altering to mimic Talia's teleporting abilities. "I'm afraid I have to go, I'm sorry for all the trouble I dragged you into." His eyes glanced over towards the others and then willed his body into the other dimension that the Wagners use to teleport from place to place. His body vanishing in a burst of purple, pink brimestone smelling smoke and the air rushing in to rill the gap his body had left with a 'BUMF' sound.
ooc: Sorry to leave you lot, but I needa get Connor out of here now, no one seems to be replying so I'm not sure if that means no one wants to come to the medical bay or not, but if people do want to reply still, feel free to, Talia Wagner is still here.
The first step to forgiveness is telling the truth.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Taylor watched quietly as the almost unconious girl was lead gently onto the bed in the medical bay, things had happened so quickly, and not an hour ago he had been in this very building looking forward to getting out for a bit, although that didn't really work out.
Taylor had decided he was going to stay with this girl until she was awake, he had to explain himself and he didn't want her to think of him as cowardly and elaving her when he had been the one to provoke the attack. All the time since Connor had stopped talking to him he had found his gaze attached to her, and this didn't change as Connor and the others talked in the background.
Taylor found a small chair and pulled it up beside the bed and just sat, watching, all the things around him closed out by his mind until Connor's voice was directed at him;
"I'm afraid I have to go, I'm sorry for all the trouble I dragged you into."
Taylor looked at the mutant that had settled him and brought him here and smiled. "That's fine, i should be the one apoligising. I'll stay here with her, so she knows whats going on when she comes around properly, don't worry about me I'm ok, it seems you have more important things going on." Taylor smiled again and turned back to the young woman as the other mutant disappeared suddenly, making Taylor jump a little, but also calmed him a little as he realised how at ease people were with their powers here.
Taylor hoped the young woman would be ok, and he was going to hold himself to his word, he would stay until she was awake, so everything could be explained. So much had happened, he was quite glad he didn't have to explain everything straight away as a lot of it was not clear in his own mind, he just hoped that this woman was going to understand, and also be able to handle the fact that she was in a place full of mutants.

Talia removed the bullet from Angela's shoulder carefully, the furred mutant using her telekinetic abilities to save from poking around with any medical tools. There was a short time between then and when Angela first stirred, the girl merely shifting her head to the side but not appearing to wake up. When Talia was carefully bandaging Angela's shoulder, using her three fingered hands with as much ease as any five fingered human, but she was interupted when the ghostly image of Fear made his appearence by fading into sight right in front of her. The glowing red eyes easily startled the young Wagner who's tail flicked about in a panic while she stepped away. But the 'ghost' was content on sitting over Angela's stomach, perhaps hinting to the fact that while she was completely out cold and extremely weak at the same time her body could not produce the hauntingly unreal image of her imaginary friend.
There was a pained expression over Angela's face shortly after though, she had been given some painkillers amongst some other shots to help with the wound. But it still hurt, not a while lot, she'd become a lot more uncomfortable with the pain once they wore off. Slowly the emotion absorbing mutant opened her bright brown eyes, both a dark shade, and yet tiny flecks of gold would light up the dark gaze when light hit it on a certain angle.
The first thing that she did was try and sit up, but that failed rather miserably since all her body did was take in a lung full of air, not even attempting to obay her desire to sit up. The first thing she saw was Talia's blue figure at the end of her bed, recovering from the surprise of Fear's appearence. Her mind went into sudden panic, where was she? The first thing the girl did was notice that Talia was in a white nursing gown, the fact most people tended to be afraid of the demonic appearence surprised Talia when Angela's gaze left the nursing mutant and weakly smiled at Fear who spun about excitedly for a moment, then a dull pink tongue flopping out of the pale gray mouth that appeared on its round black gasous body.
Angela laughed slightly, not a good idea since it only caused more pain, there was a faint groan while her eyes stubbornly closed, leaving her in a world of blackness until she was able to forcefully will them open again.
"No.. don't do that." The whisper was very soft, surprising Angela, wondering why her chest and shoulder hurt so terribly much, and why she was in this bed.. When she got really scared, she'd subconsiously try and cheer herself up, so sometimes Fear would act playful, depending on whatever was going on. If she was depressed and wanted some company he'd be depressed with her, but if she wanted to be cheered up, even if she didn't consiously think that, then he'd try and make her laugh.
Slowly she sighed a little, her unharmed arm moved a little so her hand could touch Fear's body, able to be solid or not meant he could be felt if she wanted to touch him. She felt so tried, and damn hungry! Plus her mouth was really dry.. but she didn't feel like water, maube some chocolate milk or soft drink.. fruit drinks tended to not quent her thrist very well. The tip of her tongue poked out of her mouth slightly, her lips where dry and had felt as if they were stuck together, turning her head once again to the side she noticed Taylor. It was hard for her mind to soak up all the things that were happening about her, she was just too tired and hurting too uncomfortably to be bothered understanding everything that was happening, and she couldn't really glance around the room while laying down, and moving hurt too much.
"I remember you.." Her voice was still soft and a little slow while she spoke, a faint smile tugging in a friendly manner at the corner of her lips, though her eyes slowly closed while she was half way through speaking. "..what's going on?" It was too difficult just yet to open her eyes again, she was still tired not only from her body trying to heal the wound, even though the special bed was also repairing the damaged done now, but she also had the painkillers and they were making her so drowsy.

Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
When the group had finally reached the main entrance to the school, they descended from the limo one by one careful not to jostle the wounded girl. Well now that he was back Ben was actually happy to be here, he smiled to himself, if anyone had even so much as joked about that happening earlier on today he would have deemed it impossible. It’s funny how things change after having been in a room with someone with a gun. Ben decided that there was no better way to bring people together. At that moment he looked up to see the girl that had so rudely run into him earlier glare in his direction. He quickly decided to amend his last though, there was nothing like a shooting to bring SOME people together.
At this point the group split and not really knowing what to do, he decided to follow the group headed for the medical bay. He felt that he was indirectly responsible for events this evening. What if he hadn’t lost control of his powers, maybe then things would not have been so bad. Well there was no going back now, he was just going to have to live with what had happened and try to better himself. Maybe it was fate that had sent him here to the only place that could help him with this particular problem.
As they travelled through the school Ben could not help but be amazed at all the different people they passed and the fact that they were carrying a wounded girl only attracted a few stares.
Upon entering the medical lab, something Ben did not really like doing as he had had his fill of hospitals as a kid. He had learned to deal with his allergy, but as tonight had proved he sometimes got himself in above his head and had to be rushed to hospital. He heard Connor address someone and turned to see who it was, as he had previously been watching the other two boys lay the wounded girl down on one of the beds. As he saw whom Connor was addressing he stopped and stared, he didn’t really know why he had met Taylor earlier on that evening but this girl was blue. Why blue was more shocking than yellow he really had no idea it just was. Slowly Ben closed his mouth as it had somehow fallen open and stepped back in order to keep out of people’s ways.
The next thing he knew Connor was looking over in his direction and declaring that he had to leave. Ben did not even have the time to react or ask anything of Connor before the boy disappeared in a puff of smoke. He took a deep breath; well there was a lot he was going to have to get used to. Looking around the room the only logical thing to do was to go and stand by the yellow skinned mutant.
“Hi, I know this is probably not the best time for introductions, but I’m Ben. Pleased to meet you.”
Ben knew how stupid that sounded but at that precise moment in time he had no idea what else to do. He looked down are the unconscious girl and flashed the other mutant what he hoped was a reassuring smile.
“She’ll be fine by the looks of it this place is well equipped to deal with this kind of thing.”
Ben stood back to give the nurse room to work, as he did so he couldn’t help but marvel at the technique she used to remove the bullet. There were no instruments involved the shinning metal pellet just seemed to emerge from the girls shoulder, like well magic. By this time, Ben had come to terms that the nurse must be using her special mutant powers. He could not bring himself to not sneak a second glance at the blue woman’s other strange features; he has though that being blue was a big enough handicap. But after further examination he discovered that she only had three rather large fingers on each hand and a tail.
A tail! What kid had not wondered what it would be like to have one? His thoughts went back to his childhood fantasies. The ones before his powers appeared, when he was just a sick little boy always forced to stay inside. During those days he had always dreamt of possessing super human power, like being able to fly. Well to many cartoons tend to have that affect on kids. But when his own powers had manifested he had not been happy about it, his parents were strongly anti-mutant and they would never have understood. So he had hidden them and that is partly why things had gone wrong tonight because he couldn’t control them.
After what seemed to be an eternity the girl started to stir, Ben felt the urge to press forward and ask if she was ok and if she needed anything. But it was not his place to do so besides it was not a good idea to crowd her. The nurse backed away suddenly to reveal a small amorphous form floating just above the girl’s stomach. Well he had coped with everything else today, so why should he be fazed by the presence of a ghost. God all he wanted now that he knew she was all right was a warm bed into which to fall in order to pretend that all this never happened.
He watched in silence as the girl turned to Taylor. "I remember you.. what's going on?"
Well it looked like that warm bed was going to have to wait a while longer.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory“Hi, I know this is probably not the best time for introductions, but I’m Ben. Pleased to meet you. She’ll be fine by the looks of it this place is well equipped to deal with this kind of thing.”
Taylor looked up at the other mutant, he looked a little taken aback by the sophistication of this place just as Taylor was. He saw as the Ben glanced at the injured girl and watched in awe, just as Taylor was, as the blue mutant, Talia he believed she was called, used her powers to extract the small silver bullet from the injured girl.
Looking back at Ben, Taylor smiled weakly, he wasn't really in the mood for much discussion but he wasn't going to be rude. "I'm Taylor, I'm sorry you've managed to get caught up in all this..." But before Taylor could finish what he was saying the young woman laid beside him awoke, and chuckled as the creature that had initially attempted to hurt Taylor now was trying to cheer her up.
He didn't know what to say, it didn't even seem like the girl had noticed much of what was going on. But still Taylor couldn't stop watching her, slipping his coat off and putting it on the chairs back he waited a second before she turned toward him, theirs eyes meeting again just as they had when he had first entered the Dying Star.
"I remember you.. what's going on?"
The young woman spoke softly to him, and he smiled a little, although it quickly faded as he realised he would now have to explain what had happened to her. Gently rubbing his arms with his hands he dropped from her gaze for a second before returning back;
"I'm Taylor, we were in the same club. You were hurt and you have been brought back to this place to be helped. I'm sorry to say it, but I think it was my fault that you got hurt. It's a long story, but to cut it down, I provoked a guy that was pestering me because of...well," Taylor pasued, for some reason feeling a little embarressed about being a mutant, up until a few days ago, he didn't have to tell people he was a mutant, it couldn't be seen, but now with his skin change its was more blatent than he would have liked.
"well..because I'm a mutant. But the thing is, this guy, he was carrying a gun, and although I knocked him down he came back when most of the club had emptied. We were outside and the guy tried to shoot me, he caught my arm (Taylor winced a little as he touched the covered wound on his arm) and the bullet hit you. These people brought us all back here, we're safe here and they have treated us."/b]
Taylor froze, he didn't know what else to say, he didn't want to start begging forgivness from her, but he didn't want to seem like he didn't care at all, all he could think of doing was waiting to see what she said and wished that she wasn't going to go mad at him for causing all the problems at the club. Slowly he dropped his gaze, he couldn't watch her anymore knowing that it was his actions that had brought her here.
Guilt began to swim over Taylor again, and as ever, he didn't seem to be able to push it away. Not like some people, like his parents, cutting him and the rest of their family off like they were deseased all because of their mutations. Although the guilt hurt him, he was glad he had it, because it just showed he wasn't like his parents, not in that way, in the way he most disli
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Since he was a mutant, Angela found she didn’t feel she needed to insist for Fear to go and hide from sight, besides, they didn’t seem to be overly afraid of her wraithlike friend, and for that she was grateful, even if she didn’t remember much of what happened yet, she still felt worried and wanted the company of her only real friend. The yellow mutant dropped his eyes away from hers, the young Miss Clarice allowed her eyes to glance over towards Talia, then at Ben who she didn’t recognize before returning to meet Taylor’s gaze.
"I'm Taylor, we were in the same club. You were hurt and you have been brought back to this place to be helped. I'm sorry to say it, but I think it was my fault that you got hurt. It's a long story, but to cut it down, I provoked a guy that was pestering me because of...well," Slowly she began remembering what had happened, remembering the man who had passed her place at the bar in order to speak with Taylor, the pain in her shoulder was slowly growing worse as she woke up more and was able to register it more clearly. She already knew what he was going to say, she probably felt the exact same way when she tried to bravely tell the people she knew online that she was a mutant.
These people brought us all back here, we're safe here and they have treated us well." At least it missed him, if it had hit him in the way that the man had intended then most likely Taylor would have been in a worse condition then her, Angela glanced down at her shoulder, it hurt to breath but not too much more then the general pain. Her eyes moved over towards Ben, offering a little smile towards him before looking down at the bandage on her shoulder, at least she was lucky, a few inches into the center of her chest and she would not be breathing right now.
“…At least you got in a punch.” There was a slight twitch of her fingers, though she would have preferred to give a more noticeable wave of her hand to show it didn’t bother her as much as it probably should, a small smile gracing her lips as well. She wasn’t the greatest when it came to talking with people, in fact she was extremely shy, it would often be long stretches of time between when she actually speaks with someone else. It hurt to speak, and she wasn’t used to it either, every time she met someone her first thought was wondering what stupid babble would spill from her lips, she was hard to understand emotionally as well, and she understood that she had odd ways of reacting to some things, some serious events might be shrugged off while something small could be fretted over for a while.
Maybe this was another reason why she found being around people so nerve racking, what if they thought she was insensitive, or worse, over sensitive, often she didn’t even understand why she acted so oddly at times.. there are moments she figures she just tries to push the worse events out of her mind, that way it doesn’t hurt as much.
“What about that other guy?” Her eyes glanced about the room, cringing slightly from the sore pain that rippled through her shoulder when she tried to move, the girl remained motionless after she decided she didn’t like provoking the pain any further, “Didn’t someone else get hurt? Was the shooter caught?” Angela’s eyes closed for long moments, her mind was still muddled from everything, and there was a confusion over the emotions she felt about her, most were calmer, softer and more gentle for her since they were so faint and control, but Taylor’s emotions were screaming out at her and it was a little overwhelming. “My computer? Is my laptop alright?” Alright, that might have sounded a little off… by alright she had meant was it still around, she didn’t want to think it had been left behind at the scene of the shooting, “I mean, is it around… It wasn’t left behind was it?” She was lucky because it had been left behind in the limo, and the driver had given it to one of the students, so it would be given back to her eventually, it did have her name on it at least, but right now no one knew her name, only that she was the victim of the Dying Star shooting, a title she wasn’t going to be pleased with, she didn’t like being called a ‘victim’.
Fear hovered about, scouting the area, being Angela’s eyes and legs while she was incapacitated, even if she could not see what he could see, she could sense it, and upon not seeing the computer his bodiless form rolled about over her bed before coming to a stop and shaking his gaseous head. Angela pouted, feeling more of a loss towards the missing computer then the fact she’s been shot and taken away to a strange place, her eyes felt so heavy, she wanted to complain, to get out of bed and demand to go back and find her computer, it was the only connection she had to others, without it, she would be more alone then ever before in her life.
She could just picture her mother screaming now, saying how irresponsible she was for losing it, the fact she was in pain wouldn’t matter, the laptop was expensive and she should learn to take better care of things. Once Angela had a pair of earrings, there was real diamond in them so her mother decided to hold onto the studs so that Angela didn’t lose them. When Angela asked if she could wear her earrings, she didn’t have any others since the backings of them all got lost, damn her long hair, it always got tangled in the earrings and most of them were cheap so the backings wouldn’t have a very firm grip. Her mother had started up this huge argument about how she didn’t have them, that she gave them to Angela and that she must have lost them, all the horrible things she had said really hurt and the fact that Angela had on a few occasions lost things made her feel even worse about it, but she couldn’t remember ever taking them… and that only made her mother angrier.
The next day the emotion sensing and absorbing mutant made her way into her mothers room and searched the draw while her mother was in there, so she couldn’t accuse her of ‘placing it there’, she remembered her mother had put it for safe keeping months ago, her mother wouldn’t let her look the day before, but now she did and what a surprise, the earrings were right there in plain sight, sitting in their redish purples case. Her mother didn’t even apologize, which only made the young mutant hurt more, a ‘sorry I called you a stupid careless liar’ would have been a very nice thing to hear at that point. It was hardly fair, she was so young when she lost things, and it wasn’t like she did it on purpose, they were mostly moved, or she’d just put it somewhere and being a young kid even if it was in a safe place if she got distracted it was easy to forget about where she left things.
She wouldn’t lie to herself, there have been times she was convinced she was right when she discovers later she wasn’t, and she felt bad about that, but it was so often that she’d be blamed for things she didn’t even do, things that she knew her mother had done, or her half brothers, and it was difficult to know when she was right and when her mother was right. Either way her mother would scream till it felt like the house was about to crumble down from the sound waves that slammed into the walls, and never was there an apology after, in fact sometimes she’d actually still be angry, and somehow blame Angela even if she had managed to find, fix or replace whatever was lost, broken or missing. Right now she had no money so she wasn’t sure she’d be able to buy a new laptop… but all her work was on there, all her pictures and her stories…
Nightmares aren't evil; they're just misunderstood.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Ben felt really out of place, as Taylor settled down to try and explain things to the injured girl. As he glanced about the room in search of something to do his gaze came to rest on the nurse who was now hanging back in order to let the other to mutants converse. She looked nervous and somewhat out of place and he didn’t mean because of her blue skin. She appeared to be looking over at the pair with something that resembled longing in her gaze.
Now he knew that even with his delicate medical condition he had had a quiet childhood. He had always had a small group of trusted friends on which he could rely. His parents had been there for him and he liked to think that he was not to unpopular with the girls. But he was a compassionate person and knew when something was wrong.
He could understand how it must have been hard for her to grow up looking like that, although he never for a second pretended to know what it was like. It had been hard enough on him growing up for the past 6 years having to hide is powers from his family and friends. So, presuming she had been born like that, she would have to have dealt with this all her life. He hoped that fro her sake she had been born around the institute where people seemed to be more understanding than the rest of the world.
Ben turned his attention back to Taylor and was rather worried, as the other mutant seemed to be ranting. Ben knew how confusing it was to have somebody try and explain something, when all you can concentrate on is keeping the pain to a minimum. As he watched the girls face, he could see how taxing this conversation was getting and he decided to act. But instead of prying Taylor away from the girl strait away he figured that he better ask permission first.
He approached the blue mutant slowly, as she still seemed to be looking over at the bed. “Hi, I’m Ben.” He though about shaking her hand but decided that it might be harder than it looked. “Can I as your opinion on something ?”
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Taylor smiled a little as the young woman motioned a little as she said about the puch. He supposed that was a good thing...in a way. The guy had been the one pestering him, he had asked for it considering all Taylor did to annoy him was exist. Before his fueled mind was able to run away with itself along this line of thought the girl's voice rose up again and filled the silence that had settled in the room between its four inhabitance.
“What about that other guy? Didn’t someone else get hurt? Was the shooter caught? My computer? Is my laptop alright? I mean, is it around… It wasn’t left behind was it?”
Her voice seemed a little distressed, as if all these questions had to be answered now, and Taylor really wanted to get everything sorted but he didn't know if he would be able to answer everything now, she seemed like she needed reat but Taylor didn't want to seem like he was running away from her.
The yellow skinned mutant felt Ben's presence behind him shift away towards the nurse who had just been spooked by the little creature that hovered around the medical bays patient. He half heard Ben's voice whisper a little behind him, but he ignored it and kept his attention on the young woman beside him.
"I'm sure everything is fine. No one else was hurt, or else not hurt enough to need to be here. As for your lap top, im guessing someone will have it here, your stuff wouldn't of been left." Taylor didn't really want to get into anything about the guy who stirred everything up, he knew that the woman was still quite weak, and seeing as he didn't have any real information on that he tried to slip past the subject.
"So many questions, but there's still one you havent told me; what should I call you?" Taylor smiled again as he looked at the woman and her little companion, he had been with her for almost an hour now and still didn't know her name.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory"So many questions, but there's still one you havent told me; what should I call you?" There was a slight pause in her muddled thoughts, her name.. Angela had this almost instinctive habit of lying about her name to others, and sometimes her lies came out so smoothly that people wouldn't be able to tell she was lying. It wasn't something she actually liked, in fact she adored telling the truth, and if someone wanted the truth then she would tell them if she thought it felt right to do so.. But sometimes if she didn't know the person, she'd say things that were a twisted version of the truth.
She didn't really understand why, and part of her really didn't like it, or she'd feel guilty about it after, unless she knew she was never going to see that person again. She has often wondered why, was it because she was afraid of people knowing who she really was, was she just being overly cautious? Was it because perhaps her entire life she's always had her mother call her a liar and so over time while she grew up that's what she became.. The mutant who's potent power was currently that of creating life like illusions of what people fear the most never lied maliciously or to harm others, she never said things that would hurt other people, make up stories that weren't true about them.. But sometimes she did exagrate things, maybe it was to get attention, she always had so little of it and sometimes when she sounded as if she had something interesting to say someone would pay attention to her.
But that instinctive reaction wasn't needed, she was already the center of attention, more then she cared for since she was in a bed in such a weak condition. It reminded her of her father, he looked like he was always resting, even when he was awake he just laid there, his eyes moving, yet did he understand what was happening around him? Did he even remember who she was when she held his hand? When he looked at her with those blue eyes was he staring at his daughter or was he staring at a girl he just came to understand as someone who comes to visit him, one of the many people, the many faces, so strange and alien, yet somewhat comforting in the monsterous world that made so little sense to him.
There was a faint beep over at the medical desk that was monatoring all the beds, the steady beat increased slightly for a moment as Angela looked away from Taylor and stared up at the ceiling. Her eyes slowly closing almost willing herself to calm, though it was hard, she wasn't fond of Medical labs.. for both obvious reasons to do with her father but also who did enjoy coming down here? It was a place where the sickly, weak and dying come.. there was no wonder so many people disliked the confines of the hospital walls.
"I had a friend called Claire Taylor.. she was nice, I remember the first real talk we had, we were sitting on benches at our Primary school." The brown eyes appeared once again as her dark lashes parted and remained looking up towards the ceiling, "Her best friend Anna found us, Anna looked at me and then at Claire, and right in front of me she said 'I thought we agreed we weren't going to like her.' and Claire thought unsurely for a moment before replying, 'But she makes me laugh.' " Anna Gorden didn't like Angela from before Angie even knew the other girls name, and after that Anna had even more 'reason' to hate the future mutant.
Angela wasn't too spiteful towards Anna, in fact like most painful things it basically washed off her back, Angela even tried to befriend Anna over the next years to follow. Unfortunatly Angela became best friends with a girl called Tegan Log, who later the potential mutant discovered was Anna's second best friend. Needless to say, when Tegan began to spend more time with Angela, Anna was not a happy girl, and she had let Angela know that every chance she got. The tired eyes of the mutant turned again towards Taylor and she smiled a little, the very tip of her tongue once again just faintly seen parting the dry lips of her mouth before she spoke.
"You look like you need a friend who can make you laugh," Though, honest to god, she has not had many reasons to laugh lately, not unless one of her online friends said something that made her crack a smile or giggle out loud, or when Fear started playing up and was mucking about. Her hand closest to him, luckily the one which was not attached to the wounded shoulder, lifted slightly off the bed and rested over her stomach. She hadn't been eating well lately, most of her days consisted of one proper meal, and her poor eating habit resulted in her unable to eat too much all at once, what most people could finish in a single could go last the girl an entire day. She had lost a lot of weight, not willingly, nor consiously was she attempting to do so, she was never really chubby, but she wasn't ever entirely 'slim' either. Now was different, now, even if she wasn't with the 'perfect' stomach muscles, she was still thin, if she lost any more weight it might start to be something people ought to worry about, her mother had shot a few comments about it, saying she looked nice but she shouldn't lose any more weight.
But her mother always said 'I think you've lost weight', even when she hadn't, so what was Angela supposed to think when she started lossing weight and she didn't even realize it? For the first few months she rolled her eyes every time her mother commented on it, Angela was the type of girl who actually hated the idea of dieting, the cultures need to mould people into the perfect image that was only chosen by the fashion industry. In the olden days, back when food was scarce and hard to obtain, a woman was considered 'Beautiful' if she was plump and well fed, then when food became plentiful it was changed to thin and half starved.
Why? Why not allow people the luxury of eating when there is food and conserving when there is not? Why allow the poor to starve further so that richer woman are able to buy more food to stuff their chubby little lips in order to retain their 'desirable' looks? And why are there young girls starving their growing bodies just so that they can be admired by boys who long to have the perfect tanned muscular bodies with the broad shoulders and well defined features? Why must children be abused by others for the simple fact they are not what sociaty claims 'desirable' at that point in time because their parents over feed them? Or because they have the genetic make up that mean it wasn't even possible for them to have slender waists and perfect curves or elegent hands? Why is it that a child must suffer verbal abuse from a perant who allows such careless words spill from their lips before they do not possess the form that the parent would be proud of their child to have?
There was a moment Angela focused on trying to keep her breathing steady, her eyes drifting shut once more only to struggle open again. It was strange now.. everyone had always thought she had nice hands, some had on occasion even mentioned she had a pretty face, but only ever her family. Compliments were a rare thing, she's never thought of herself as anything but plain at best, mostly sticking to keeping her face low and anyone she might fancy was usually of the more 'plain' veriaty themselves, not even bothering to think about dating let alone even admiring the cuter guys of her schools since in her mind there was little chance of them really liking her. It did surprise her every time someone spoke to her, on their own, without her trying to start the conversation, which she never attempted to do though, so it felt weird when guys did talk to her, or other girls, especially those 'popular' types that hanged about with the same small group of people while the 'less popular' would seem to know the entire school and have far more friends.. She always found that odd, how does one become 'popular', by being rude to others, by hurting those around you and backstabbing? ..Angela was glade she was never popular, not if those were the standards she had to live by.
"Angela," The girl finally replied, having the habit of having to feel as if she needed to explain things all the time, you'd generally know about her entire family by the end of the week even if youve only spoken with her a few times, as shy and quiet as she was, her answers were always either really long, or really short. "My name is Angela Clarice.." With another short pause she added rather nervously while her eyes flickered closed for a short space of time before opening, "..This doesn't mean you're going to try and contact my mother though does it?" Knowing her mother, she'd worry over the loss of the computer and probably say something about her deserving this if she was going to hang out late at night with other mutants that, she was the type that if she knew the story of what happened she would plain Taylor, and Ben, and Connor, and most of all Angela, then start threatening the poor yellow skinned mutant for 'endangering' Angela with his unstable behavour. That thought alone was enough for the mutant girl to wish not contact to be made with her mother.
Nightmares aren't evil; they're just misunderstood.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Being a telepath meant that she did not need to see that Ben was studying her, she was still knew to being around people, still struggling to shut out their minds. Maybe that's why she liked it better down here, where it was often so quiet, so little people came normally, and when they did they hardly cared about what she looked like, only if she could help or not. Besides, if people proved too bothersome, she could always shift her form into another appearance, but there was always something so spiteful inside her when she was forced to do that.
She had asked her Grand mother, Mystique, once 'Why do you simply not hide all the time?' and her grandmother had replied saying that Talia's father had asked the same question, and that she was going to give the same reply.. 'Because we shouldn't have to.' There was an admiration towards her grandmother, though an understanding at the same time now that Mystique was often hurting others in order to gain power for mutant-kind, and Talia understood that was not the proper way.
Her yellow orbs watched from a distance as they two began to speak, her patient and a visitor, Talia knew she should probably insist that the girl get some rest, but she has not yet become brave enough to speak out in such a way. Well, Talia did not speak, she did have a voice, but it was rarely used, instead the shy girl resorted instinctively to use her telepathy to speak to others, the result often being that she appeared to those who did not know her as if she did not reply to questions others asked of her since she'd answer directly into their minds.
Taylor was of an odd colour, yet that girl talked with him as if there was nothing strange about him, as if he was like any other person in the world.. Maybe if he had a tail and deformed hands and feet she wouldn't not look so blindly upon him Talia assumed rather sadly. It was impossible for people to tell where Talia was looking since she had no visible pupils, so when she felt eyes upon her, the blue furred mutant felt no fear in glancing over to Ben even though he face remained towards Angela and the yellow mutant.
Her tail gently swayed about her ankles while her face turned away from him, able to feel some of the thoughts and emotions radiating from him. It felt strange for someone's eyes not to stare at her and fill her mind with horrible thoughts about how repulsive she appeared to them. Some mutants at the school were not comfortable with her being around them, most treated her though as if she was a normal human without any deformities.
There was a shift in the corner of her golden eyes that caught her attention and forced Talia to pull her gaze away from the wall she had been staring at once her eyes had drifted up from where the girl lay seeming comfortable taking with someone who was in fact a complete stranger to her. Talia was now mostly thinking of the things Jean had told her during their lessons on how to control her telekinesis abilities, they were a little strong then when she first arrived, but removing that bullet for her had felt as if she had been pulling a woman out of a hole she had fallen into with vines grabbing hold of her stubbornly wanting to not let her leave.
“Hi, I’m Ben.” Talia blinked slightly while he talked to her, the blue hued arms crossing over her chest and her three fingered hands clinging to her arms as if she were cold and Ben was the somehow the one radiating a chilly aura off his form and his close proximity meant she now felt it with greater ease then she might have when he was further away “Can I ask your opinion on something ?” The long wavy strands of hair often hid her pointed ears, and the fact she brushed her hair in a way that had the hair fall over her ears and rarely if ever tucked her hair behind the pointed tips, it meant most people rarely saw them, as was the case now, it would have been hard for Ben to see her ears unless she turned her head quickly enough to cause her hair to part so that her ears could for a moment be easily seen.
There was another reason Talia did not speak with her mouth, her fangs only added to her unusual appearance and as a child she had many people stare fixatedly at her teeth when she opened her mouth. Her shape shifting abilities were only a few years old so she had not been able to use them when she was younger, only receiving what would have helped made her life easier once it seemed she had completely shut herself away in her German home with her mother. But she was still uneasy about speaking, telepathically of course, to strangers, since so many reacted differently, most often they had this surprised look, or were taken back and some even avoiding speaking with her so that they didn't have her inside their head.
Talia gave a slight nod of her head in order to hopefully avoid having to say anything, her tail nervously twitching behind her as her face seemed to lower itself, as if she were looking at the ground, though her eyes remained fixed on the older mutant, even if it was impossible for Ben to tell.
Talia, that was it, Ben remembered Connor addressing her by her name when they first entered the medical bay. He had been trying desperately to remember it since she caught his attention earlier. He felt slightly embarrassed at having paid her so little attention; he blushed and lowered his head. It took him a moment to realize that she had nodded her head at him to signal that he could ask his question, and all he had been doing was standing there.
“Oh, yes I’m sorry. I wanted to ask if you though it would be better if I took Taylor away in order to let her get some rest.”
The beginning of his sentence was stammered and he cursed himself for his rudeness, but it had after all been a long night. It was at that moment that he caught himself looking at her rather to hard. It was because she was doing her best to hide behind her wall of hair so that he hadn’t as yet had a clear view of her face. This pricked his curiosity, he did not wish to alienate her but still she had like a mysterious aura surrounding her that he found fascinating.
“I don’t mean to tell you your job or anything like that, it’s just I’ve been in a lot of hospitals myself and I know it’s always nice to have some peace and quiet.”
He flashed her his most charming smile and shifted his weight ever so slightly so that he finally saw her face. And at that precise moment in time, the witty tirade he had had planned in order to make her feel more comfortable around him, died on his lips unuttered. She was beautiful and he didn’t mean in a conventional, oh my isn’t she pretty way. He was lost for words, she was breath taking and well Ben didn’t think of himself as a ladies man but he had had his share of girlfriends, but none of them even compared to Talia.
He blushed a deep crimson and turned away from her, what an idiot he was being. She was obviously uncomfortable enough as it was without him ogling at her with his mouth open. He looked over at Taylor while trying to reorganise his thoughts, in order to dig himself out of the whole he had just dug. Man could he do nothing right today? I mean this is no way to make a good first impression. He took a deep breath and turned back to her.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Taylor watched as the young womens focus left him and centred on the ceiling, all the alarms and machines hooked up to her to check her vital signs were beeping a little faster as she started to think about him question. Taylor just watched in silence as the woman began to ramble on about one of her old school friends; he didn't really know what to say as it seemed to come out of no where.
As she quietened again Ben's voice was once again heard behind him, but before he could work out what the other new mutant was saying the young woman had turned back to him and was answering his question:
"Angela, My name is Angela Clarice....This doesn't mean you're going to try and contact my mother though does it?"
Taylor was a little taken aback at the fact that Angela didn't want her mother contacted. But that was her choice; he knew in her situation the last person he would want to see would be his mother; although to be fair he was pretty sure that his mother wouldn't care or want to see him, especially now that his skin was a physical symbol of just what she wouldn't want in a son.
"We won't do anything you don't want; if you don't want to see your Mother thats fine. As long as you think its ok not letting her know your ok that's all." Taylor didn't want to pressure Angela into letting her mother know where she was because he would have felt the same way, but the fact that she mentioned her surly meant the she still cared where her daughter was.
"I know you'll be safe here, for as long as you want, the people here are very good." Taylor was sincere; he hadn't been her much more than thirty-six hours but he already knew that this was a safe place to be; it was one of those places that gave off an aura of security. Not once since he had found out what he truly was had he found a place like this; not even at home.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
He did not seem to reply right away, so the blue demonic appearing mutant allowed her gaze to drift down to the ground before wondering over towards the distant wall, both of which would have been near impossible still for Ben to tell were she was looking.
“Oh, yes I’m sorry. I wanted to ask if you thought it would be better if I took Taylor away in order to let her get some rest.” She wanted to nod, but the man was staring at her, the ends of the fur on the back of her neck pricked slightly, not moving save for the flick of her tail so that the curtain of hair remained in place.
“I don’t mean to tell you your job or anything like that, it’s just I’ve been in a lot of hospitals myself and I know it’s always nice to have some peace and quiet.” The man seemed to shift about slightly, Talia withdraw even further into the solitude of her mind, shutting out anything and everything that might be pouring from their minds. She hardly cared to know how repulsive they thought her. Since Talia had only been here a few months it was still hard for her to get used to the fact that most of these mutants did not look at her the same way humans tended to. She was lucky in the sense that since her mother had gotten used to Kurt’s abnormal appearance it meant that she had been expecting similar mutations in Talia and so hadn't shunned the child.
The golden orbs shifted more noticably towards Taylor since her face also turned towards him, she could not just tell him to leave.. what if he started saying nasty things in order to get her to leave him alone? Casting an unnoticed glance over at Ben she noticed he was looking back at Taylor as well, though his cheeks had gone a few shades darker.
“So what do you think, shall I take him away?” The right ear on Talia had two golden earrings in the tips, round and slightly thick, it was odd since that would cause attention to be brought to her ears, even though at the same time she tried to hide herself as well. As usual, Talia found it hard to communicat with strangers, so in the end she looked off towards Beasts office as if hoping that somehow he would just appear, even though she knew he was in the sub-levels of the Institute.
'It would be best.'
Her face had once again turned away from his, shortly after dropping to stare at the ground, the words haven been spoken into his mind and sometimes when people don't see that her lips hadn't moved they just assume she had spoken out loud.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Talia glanced over towards one of the rooms adjacent to the one they were standing in, and although she had no pupils it was not hard for Ben to read her unease. He felt ashamed and foolish, he should of known he would upset her. Discretion had never been his strong point and he had a horrible tendency of putting his foot in things. Oh well what was done was done and he couldn’t change it.
And so he waited for her answer to his question, some part of him wanting her to say that it was alright and that Taylor could stay a while longer. Although he knew fool well that it was not a good idea.
'It would be best.'
He had been prepared for any kind of answer but still ended up taken aback. She had spoken directly in his head, she was a telepath. Panic flooded him, how much of his thoughts had she followed? What would she think of him? He tried to maintain a brave face but as exhaustion set in keeping his emotions under control seemed to be near enough impossible and besides what was the point she knew what he was thinking anyway.
“I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to… embarrass, or make you feel uncomfortable. I’ll just get Taylor and leave you.”
It was a pretty lame apology if he’d ever heard one, but at that point in time it was the best he could come up with. As he walked towards Taylor he kept his gaze fixed on Talia and wished he had kept his mouth shut. When he reached the table he put a hand on Taylor’s shoulder.
“I think we should go, she needs to rest. I’m sure you can come and check on her tomorrow. Besides I still need to get a room sorted or I’m sleeping in the corridors tonight.”
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory
Taylor's mind was away somewhere else when Ben's hand clasped onto his shoulder. He jumped a little, not realising just how far away from this world he had seemed to slip.
“I think we should go, she needs to rest. I’m sure you can come and check on her tomorrow. Besides I still need to get a room sorted or I’m sleeping in the corridors tonight.”
Angela hadn't replied before Ben had come over, and Taylor kind of agreed with leaving her to get some rest, but it didn't stop him wanting to stay with her, the guilt that had been flowing through his body was still around and he felt like he should stay with her as long as he could.
He felt Ben squeeze his shoulder a little harder and Taylor looked up at the younger mutant, knowing what he was saying was right;
"Ok, that makes sense, I need to find out about a room too, and get something to eat!" Taylor hadn't realised but his stomach was growling a little, he hadn't eaten since lunch time, thinking he could get something at the Dying Star; which obviously didn't happen.
Taylor slowly rose from his seat and carefully pulled on his black jacket; he turned back to Angela and smiled;
"You should get some rest, if you need me, or anything, just ask someone. Everyone just wants to see you get better." Taylor smiled once again and then turned back to Ben who was waiting to leave. "You wana get something to eat and then find out about a room?" Taylor asked with the continuing smile, although the events of the night had shaken him a little, now that he was back at Xaviers though it seemed as if some of the stress had just rippled away from him. But he dreaded when he was left alone because that was when all the thoughts would flood back to him and once again he would start to think about who's fault the attack was and what he could of done to stop all the problems caused.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory"We won't do anything you don't want; if you don't want to see your Mother that’s fine. As long as you think its ok not letting her know your ok that's all." Of course it wasn't ok, her mother would throw a fit if she found out Angela got shot and didn't say anything. But if they did call her she'd demand to know what happened, then she'd demand to come here, then she seen the nurse and Taylor as mutants and she'd be so horrible to them and Taylor was feeling bad enough as it was. Most children would have probably left their mother by now after all the abuse she's been dealt, but as much as she hated her sometimes, she was her mother, and for that Angela did love her.. it was just so hard sometimes.
"I know you'll be safe here, for as long as you want, the people here are very good." The other boy was off talking with the nurse, and part of Angela worried over being left alone, she wasn't good with hospital's at all, she didn't like being alone in places she wasn't familiar with either. They had patched her up, why couldn't she go to her apartment now? The beeping monitoring her heart increased in pace a little while Ben spoke, it was always the case really, people would come to talk with her.. but they'd always end up leaving, and most often, she never saw them again.
“I think we should go, she needs to rest. I’m sure you can come and check on her tomorrow. Besides I still need to get a room sorted or I’m sleeping in the corridors tonight.” It was better for her to sleep, the drugs were making her dizzy the longer she forced herself awake, and she probably would start blurting out more things that made no real sense or connection regarding the topic they were on.
"Ok, that makes sense, I need to find out about a room too, and get something to eat!" It already sounded as if they had forgotten about her, old news dies fast around here it seems, her eyes turned to stare up at the ceiling again. She's never met other mutants in real life before, she didn't even know if Ben was a mutant, she didn't even know if she was a mutant.. she assumed she was, how else could she feel what they are feeling? It was so hard to tell since Fear seemed to have a mind of his own and he did look like a ghost, for all she knew he was giving her these special abilities for some strange reason..
"You should get some rest, if you need me, or anything, just ask someone. Everyone just wants to see you get better." Her dark eyes turned sleepily towards the yellow hued mutant while he spoke, there was a smile on his lips so she gave a small smile of her own, though she was starting to feel completely out of it. "You wana get something to eat and then find out about a room?" No one had properly explained to her what this place was other then a 'safe place', so she found it confusing when they started talking about getting food and finding rooms.
"He was afraid of the electricity.." It was like one last effort to keep their attentions before they left her alone, but it didn't do her much good, the mumbled words were uttered while she was drifting off. Not even remembering she had finished the sentence, when she wakes up in the morning she'd be a blank again on what happened. She was going to open her eyes to a strange place and it wasn't going to come back to her until she tries to sit up, only to have the pain rippling through her body to remind the empathic what had gone wrong the night before.
Nightmares aren't evil; they're just misunderstood.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory"Ok, that makes sense, I need to find out about a room too, and get something to eat!"
As soon as the word food came up Ben stomach rumbled, well it had every right to the last thing he had eaten had been a sandwich in a service station on the way here this morning. Had it really only been this morning that he had arrived here? Well at least he now had not reason to fear that he wouldn’t fit in and make friends, the shooting had solved both of those problems in one go. He turned his smile to Taylor and nodded his agreement.
“Food sounds like a brilliant idea, but were going to have to find it first.”
At the thought of him and Taylor wandering the corridors of the institute helplessly lost Ben chuckled. This was after all a big place and he hadn’t had the most official of tours. Omoi had defiantly been an interesting guide and he wondered were she had gone to after dumping him so unceremoniously on Connor. Talking of Connor he had also disappeared suddenly, he wondered if being able to vanish in a cloud of blue smoke was a requirement here.
“You’ll probably have a better idea of where to start than me, I had a rather brief and well…interesting tour this afternoon, and have no idea in which direction to head.”
He glanced over at Talia knowing she could probably give them directions but he figured that he had embarrassed himself and her enough for one day. So they were going to have to find their way on their own. Turning back to Taylor and offering him a smile he started towards the door. As he reached it he scanned the room one last time, as he had no intention of returning to it. The wounded girl had fallen asleep almost as soon as they had left her bedside, Talia looked just as nervous as before if not more so, well it was understandable. he had no purpose being down here again, and he figured that he would not see Talia again either, well maybe it was better this way.
With a small sigh he turned and walked out of the room.
Re: Xavier's Medical Laboratory"He was afraid of the electricity.."
Taylor heard Angela slowly mumble as her conciousness failed and she returned to sleep and rest. But her last words made Taylor think; he was taken down very quickly with a burst of his electrical abilities. People often were frightened by Taylors abilities because if he chose to use them to their full then the effects could easily be fatal. But the man from the club was only hit with a little shock, something that would surprise him; but it still managed to make him ryth on the floor in pain; did Taylor not have as much control over his powers as he thought?
Taylor’s thoughts were cut short by Ben’s voice again directed at him;
“Food sounds like a brilliant idea, but were going to have to find it first. You’ll probably have a better idea of where to start than me, I had a rather brief and well…interesting tour this afternoon, and have no idea in which direction to head.”
Taylor smiled at Ben as the pair began to leave; this mutant came over very friendly, and if most of the people at this place were like this Taylor wouldn’t have any problem living here.
“Your lucky here,” Taylor smirked, “The kitchen is the only other place I have been so I am pretty sure I can get us there…I hope.” Taylor’s smile widened as he took one last look at the peaceful looking Angela and the shy nurse and he left the medical bay beside Ben, finally content about where and what he was.
