Zias visit reposted.
Bright flourescent blue-green markings adorned upon deep ebony skin glowed slightly as muscles rippled and bunched under the thin layer. Eyes of the same brightness as the markings, rimmed with black and narrowed in anticipation locked onto a small furry figure that had made the mistake of letting it's gaurd down enough to lower it's head and nibble on the grass. As it's long slender eats flikked to and fro, so did the long sprite-like velvety ear. Glistening fangs lengthened to reviel themselves from under glossy black lips as the lips pulled back in a slight smirk. This preditor clad in a loincloth outfit and ancient egyptian jewlery was the one and only Zia.

She gave not one sound of warning as she sprang from the place she had been crouching in wait for her prey and the rabbit didn't get the chance to wail out it's dieing scream as she ended it's life swiftly and painlesly.... Sure, she had been living at this mansion since a month before the follicly challanged one had slipped into that long sleep the people of this day called a coma, but she still hunted for her food when she felt the need to. Zia didn't like the thought of letting the way of humans change her even if the new species called 'Mutants' had the same ways. She felt a trickle of disgust go through her at the thoght of Humans.... Humans, so many of them had hurt her that she had lost count. She hardly understood why she was content with staying here with a bunch od Human- lovers... Well, the fact of there being no where else she knew of helpped with her decision to linger. And so did the fact that there were so many things going on around this building to keep her interested in seeing the outcome. That and she had developed almost a friendly fondness for the shiney-scalped individual that usually took lead of this place.

Thinking about Xavier had made her have the urge to go see him. She may never have been shown aroudn the mansion but she learned the place pretty well. Well enough to know where the sick and injured usually were held although knowing the people was another whole story. She wasn't even sure if most of the population of the area even knew that a creature such as herself even existed... nevermind knew her personally. Well, as personally as she would allow anyone to know her. She had the feeling that some people had caught glimpses of her here and there and had spoken ever so briefly to a few of the people who had confronted her.

Licking the blood off of her hands as she headed to one of their bathroom things, she looked around. She was in indicision on if she should go in her true form as she was right now, or take on her human form which she just barely tolerated, or take on the form of one of the people who lived there. Zia thought over that decision as she washed the remainng blood from her arms, hands, and face then chose to stay as she was. It wasn't as if she were going to be the only one in the whole building not to look Human. Anyway, she was proud of her appearance. It was who she was.. WHAT she was. She still took the time to smoothe back her hair and adjust the jewlert she wore before heading out of the bathroom, leaving the sink still running since she still hadn't graspped the concept of "stopping a miniture waterfall once it's started" by just turning knobs. It had taken her a while to get that far as to make the little waterfall start instead of using the round white water basin with the lid and the metal handle on the rectangular part.

She slipped down the halls in practiced silent steps of the predetor she truely was, not feeling like bringing to herself too much attention... Her appearance may have been eye-catching but it is surprising on how easily even one with appearance like herself could be missed when there were no excessive sounds made. The grace of her steps made her seem to almost glide down the halls and towards the Medical Labs which she still didn't know the name of. She just thought of it as the sickness chamber. She paused and looked at the closed door in front of her and shook her head ever so lighty in memory of the first time she had come across one of these. The first time she had been in a room with the door closed, she had lasted it down, thinking that they had placed a wall up to keep her in the chamber.. But that had been many centuries ago and back in a time she perferred not to think about. Her hand moved out and graspped the knob of the door then she pushed lightly to swing it open. There was not much but a slight squeak but she glared at the hinges anyway, irritated that they had made such a rude noise as she had been trying to remain as silent as possable.

Her brief and mild concern about the sound passed effortlessly as she placed her thoughts on what she was about to do. Not paying any mind to anyone or anything else in the area, or appearing not to anyway, Zia made her way to the place that Charles Xavier lay. Her eyes glanced over his features before wandering over to the chair beside the sleeping platform he was on and flikking her long sprite-like ears, she seated herself on the chair. If you could call it that... She was more like crouched upon it, her toes curled around the edge of the seat and her hands grabbing the edge also, in between her feet. Her loincloth fell in a way where nothing was exposed and anyway, she had made the habit of wearing another covering under it so nothing would be exposed anyway. The gold jewlery clinkked slightly as she shifted her weight a little to sniff a little at the man in front of her. She didn't find any scent of sickness on him... Sighing, she reached out with one hand and lightly placed it on the side of his forehead that was closest to her, her palm towards herself and onlt the back of her fingers actually touching him.

" I too, was in a deep sleep that lasted longer than a night... I know how you feel; trapped in your own body, unable to wake, unable to pull yourself from the darkness and dreaming and back into the realm of the reality. It took me centuries to wake, child, I don't think your kind has that long to live so I'm hoping you aren't planning on staying in the realm of dreams that long..." She shook her head a little and moved her hand slowly to his temple, still only touching with the back of her fingers, her fingertips curled to be pointing at herself. " Most of you don't have very long at all, child. Most of you only live for about fifty to seventy years... or up to an even century. You may have one of the longer lives but you still don't have the time to be just sleeping a lot of it away. There are many changes around here that you must be aware of. Even I can tell that there are different wrongs in this place... And I have been on this world long enough to be able to feel death when it is prowling and seeking a soul to take with it. Death is indeed lurking somewhere near, child... And so is desaster. And I hope for your sake you either wake up before desaster show's it's face of after it has passed." She said in the smoothe silky tone of hers, not becoming at all upset by the words or slipping at all out of her calm demeaner.

Zia withdrew her hand finally, slowly bringing it back to the edge of the seat and grasping the edge lightly as she did with the other hand. She watched him now i silence, wondering what he had looked like twenty years ago and maybe even thirty. These people of this world changed so much in their lifetimes... Her, she had looked the same for almost all of her life.. in her origional form anyway. And the time when she was still changing and growing had passed so quickly that it was less than a blink of a time compared to the length of her life had been so far. Even that long sleep she had just woken up from not too long ago would seem like a brief moment when she finally got over the fact of having been trapped like that. She shook her head to clear her mind of such things, realizing that her markings had been lit up from the disturbed feelings she had been getting. She had hated being trapped in that condition for so long... Hated that she could not free herself... That so much had changed in the world it was as if it was alien to her.

"There is a lot of unnaturalness going on here and I suspect black magic." She commented half to herself, changing the topic her mind had fallen into and directing it to that instead. That line was one that she heard a lot back in the place she was last in and she found herself having picked up saying that herself. "What do you think, child? Be it the work of evil spirits?" She commented, not expecting an answer and having no clue on how close she might have been to the truth with that statement.

Her ear twitched and she knew that soemone was nearing she she turned her face to the side, her eyes glancing over to see who it was. In case it was a threat, her body prepared for an attack, her fangs lengthening and her ears moving to pin back slightly. She didn't mean to be like this it was just the way she was. "Make yourself known." She stated cooley

Re: Zias visit reposted.
OOC this thread was originally posted as if it was taking place in med lab since neither one of us realised that Xavier was in the advanced lab. Hence the lack of security associated with the advanced lab. :o Ho hum!
...................................................

It had been another long hard day in med lab. Mentally Hank was exhausted but his body refused sleep, just as his tired mind refused to shut down. So many problems! They seemed to just keep coming and for most of them he was no closer to finding a solution. It would have helped if he could have talked to someone, just asked for their advice but that was impossible. Doctor patient confidentiality. One of the basic premises of the code by which he lived.

If there had been another physician with whom he could have discussed the cases that would have been different but there was not. The staff who helped him in med lab were not qualified to deal with patients such as Scott and Spike. He wasn’t even sure that he was. Talia and Paige showed great potential and would one day make excellent doctors, of that he had no doubt, but they were still too young, too inexperienced. Hank sighed.

He missed the Professor! Charles had always known what to say to make problems seem less daunting. He had been the guiding figure in Hank’s life for so many years now he was almost like a father to the blue furred mutant. Now he lay helpless and unconscious in the private room that had been set aside for him his remarkable mind lost in darkness and silence. *Why should that be?* Hank asked himself for the thousandth time. There was no medical reason for it. He was well placed to know that. Night after night he had studied his mentor’s medical records searching, always searching for some clue that would put him the trail of a possible cure but to no avail. The doctor’s frustration was almost overwhelming. *Whether they be afflicted in mind or in body I am unable to help those I love. Is all my vaunted knowledge and experience come to naught?*

McCoy was not one for false modesty. He knew he was rightly recognised as one of the foremost experts in the treatment of mutants. His studies in genetics alone merited a Nobel prize, an accolade he well knew he would never receive given his mutant status. Once, such a thing would have bothered him. He supposed in some ways it still did. He had dedicated his life to fighting for mutant’s rights, always in the forefront of the struggle no matter what it cost him personally. To have been the first mutant scientist acknowledged for his work before the whole world would have been another milestone in the continuing battle.

He himself however had long since abandoned dreams of glory. Life and its accompanying tragedies had showed him the true nature of recognition. The look in a patient’s eyes as you told them they would recover, the handshake of a parent whose child life had been spared, these were the things that really counted.*And that is also the measure of failure* Hank thought grimly. *Scott will die and Jean will mourn and there is nothing I can do about it* Deep in his heart he had always known that he would fail, ever since he had first seen the test results, but he had refused to give up hope.

This wasn’t some stranger he was dealing with it was Scott Summers, one of his oldest friends. They had known each other since they were little more than children, gathered together by one mans dream to form the group that had become a legend. The X men. Now the intellect which had given birth to that dream lay sleeping and lost, no longer whispering its words of comfort to the children who had grown to manhood fighting for its vision.Yet comfort was exactly what Hank needed on that long night. And so his feet had taken him as they so often did to the bedside of Charles Xavier, teacher, inspiration and recently and most unacceptably, patient.

The doctor didn’t bother with stealth as he approached the silent room This was his domain and he roamed it as he chose. Yet now and always he moved with a grace and furtiveness that belied his massive form. Once he had looked human, only his overlarge hands and feet declaring his mutant heritage, Neanderthals man at his apogee. But that was all in the past. The irony was not lost on him.

His own youthful recklessness had led him to tamper with his genetic make up, granting him strength and agility beyond his wildest dreams but taking in the process any pretence of normality. He had been transformed into a blue furred apelike creature, becoming a beast in form as well as in name. Subsequently his genetic code had become unstable allowing further mutations to take place as his tempestuous career as an x man had put him in the way of danger. Now his body had reverted to a a form which reflected a time before the great primates had come to rule, a time when felines had been the ultimate life form!

He seldom let his acute mind roam onto the subject of further mutation. It was too problematic. Already the blood of a predator flowed through his veins. Already his heightened sense of smell had told him that there was someone waiting in the adjoining room. Someone other than the Professor! Too late he realised that his own lack of caution would have been detected, still he prowled the corridors confident in his own power. His only concern as he entered the room was for his patient, his own fangs exposed as he rose to the challenge of the female who awaited him. "Make yourself known." The voice was cool and provocative. He felt his hackles rise as the challenge sounded clear and strong across the room.

Suddenly his intellect, normally all prevailing struggled to the fore, temporarily overcoming the primeval forces that threatened to dominate him. ‘Female?’ The term struck him as strange, not one he would normally have employed regarding one of the opposite sex. And the being confronting him was so obviously of the opposite sex.

For so long he had dominated the animal instincts within himself that their sudden release left him confused and totally at their mercy. Instinctively he moved forward, asserting his right to this territory before her unwelcome intrusion. *This prey is mine!*His body declared it even as his mind wrestled with the conflicting information it was receiving. Doctor and animal confronting each other, neither one sure of the outcome, only aware of the confrontation!

The being before him was overwhelmingly female, the pheromones drilling their way into his body bringing with it the instinctive reaction, their effect made that blatantly apparent as he advanced into the chamber. His fangs were already exposed as he entered the room, his challenge clearly announced as he started the circle that could only end in death or ………………

*This is not me*For decades he had forced his mind to dominate the animal callings of his body But it was hard this time. The creature that crouched, unafraid, before him was powerful in a fashion that only he could sense, a primordial force that called to him ways his mind could not understand but which his body urged him to obey. It was a feeling he had not experienced in a long time, his regression having placed in doubt any relation he could have had with a woman.

Yet still his intellect prevailed, overpowering even the demands of a beast, forcing upon them the restrictions which civilisation had placed upon every sentient creature. The divine ‘Thou must not’ which governed their existence!

“ My name is Hank McCoy “ he replied, his voice husky with restrained emotion.” Dr Mc Coy! And this is my territory and my patient! Who are you to disturb his slumber?”

Re: Zias visit reposted.
Zia

Her black rimmed glowing flourescent blue-green eyes narrowed and her crouch deepened as she caught sight of the blue furred man. It wasn't the sight of him that had made her ready herself even more so for an attack though, even though she had a feeling his appearance would bring many to become uneasy or feel threatened. She felt neither of those, only preparing herself in case he chose to attack. It had been his body language that had triggered her defensive side. Him having moved forward only caused her to slip more into her true form, her fangs lengthening, muscles toning more under the deep darker than coal skin, her ears stretching to their full length although still pinned back. The markings that lay over her skin lit to a brighter glow, making her seem even darker in comparison. She could clearly recognize the message his pose struck... He was claiming the hairless one as his prey.

A growl sounded from deep in her throat, coming out to sound more like a growl from a large feline like a Cougar or Lepord than a person. The muscles rippled under her skin as she leapt off the chair and onto the floor as if she were ment to be on all fours, no awrkardness in her movement, it being one fluid action. Zia didn't tear her gaze away from the potential threat though, and she didn't soften her expressions any. As he came further into the room, Zia streatched one of her legs out to push the chair aside then quickly brought her leg back to the position it had been in before, regaining her huntress crouch fully. She made sure to keep in between the blue man and the man on the bed. For some reason that even she was unsure of, she felt the need to be protective of the one who lay so helplessly on the sleeping platform behind her.

Right now, she wasn't thinking in the way Humans did. No, she was reacting upon the ways of an animal in the wild. As she let herself sink further into that mode of thought, Xavier just became somehting like a part of the pack in a sense. Not prey, not territory but still someone she was intent on keeping from harm. As the blue furred man came closer, she gave another deep growl of warning, one telling him if he were to advance too much more, she would attack. As he started to circle, she turned to keep her eyes on him, at the same time moving to stay in between him and the bed. Zia's lips curled slightly to a small snarl. She became more alert than before and defensive in another sense as she caught signs of other thoughts he may be having besides violence. She didn't know on how to react to that but she didn't let it distract her too much. It wasn't hard to keep the frame of mind she had been in at the moment she first detected the threat. It wasn't hard, her naturally being a creature of the hunt. She watched him intently as he opened his mouth, her ears sliding out quickly from where they had been laying under her hair to where they were up and slightly pointing forward.

“ My name is Hank McCoy... Dr Mc Coy!And this is my territory and my patient! Who are you to disturb his slumber?” Hearing actual Human sounds come from his lips made her push back on her animal side enough to remember when and where and that she had heard that name before.... She had heard it mentioned a few times in the time she had been living here. Still, the rest of what he had said took a couple of moments to translate in her mind, English not being her first language..and definately not modern English. Her eyes un narrowed and ears lowered to a more comfortable position as she let her body relax some. Doctors were supposed to be unharmful people by what she had learned in the time she had been awake... Although she still kept on her guard more than usual. Finally, it all translated and she shifted from the huntress crouch to a standing position, moving a few strands of hair from in front of her face with the back of a hand. Zia looked from Xavier then to the blue man, Dr Hank Mc Coy. She didn't speak for a moment as she just observed him out of a 'attack or don't attack' manner.

( I think the end of this post is missing. Still looking to see if i can remedy that)

Re: Zias visit reposted.
Just speaking the words made him feel better, more himself. Language had always been his plaything, a giant toy that god had given to him, endlessly fulfilling. He saw that it had had its effect on the woman as well, her stance changing from on of attack to one of attentive readiness. *Even now it is the predator not the doctor that is watching from behind my eyes* Hank realised. He should have felt dismay but he didn’t. What he felt was freedom and excitement and although he realised that he should have fought against it, forcing the animal part of his nature into abeyance yet he did not, relishing the long forgotten sensations.

" Doctor... Hank... Mc. Coy.."
Her voice was, as he knew it would be, sensual and vibrant. The way she said his name was a caress. Who was she that she could have such an effect on him? This was more than just mild attraction. He was a doctor trained to separate what was appropriate behaviour from what was blatantly not. But was this inappropriate or merely unwelcome on her part? All he knew was that she had stirred him on, some level that was primordial and apparently beyond his control. " I have been called many many things... she continued "But have only been given one name.. Although I still do not know why people think they have a need to name everything, I have accepted the name of Zia..

*Zia!* He rolled the name around in his mind.,savouring its texture, as a Beast, storing its sounds as a scholar. It stirred some memory within him, recalling a conversation he had had with Xavier. *Before he left us! Before this trap closed around his mind!* It seemed so long ago. But it was only …….So many things had happened since then that he was hard pressed to remember. It was much easier to let himself be propelled forward by the impetus of Zia’s voice.

"As for Charles Xavier, I do not disturb his slumber. Anyway, if he were to wake, that would be a good thing. He would probably perfer to be awake than trapped in his own body; unable to move to speak to do anything.]

He felt her shudder echo his own. Entrapment was something he understood only to well . His own body reacted in silent sympathy as he recalled the long weeks of confinement he had suffered, chained to a wall with adamantine shackles as his nemesis, the Dark Beast, usurped his identity Sometimes he still awoke from dreams, trying to claw down the stone wall that had stood scant inches from his starving form. The idea that Xavier feel trapped in a similar way filled him with dismay. He sensed that Zia felt the same.

" Patient... I do not know that word in the way you spoke it.. but this one right here, laying on the sleeping platform beside me is someone I would call a friend if I ever did have one. If it were not for the fact that he lay in this room, I would most likely not have come in here as I am”

The phrases were awkward yet the meaning behind them clear. Her body, of which he was all too well aware, changed subtly with her words, a visible indication of her desire to compromise but not to concede. She spoke as if her form could displease, but that was far from being the case. Hank found it beautiful and compelling. His eyes were drawn to the strange markings that were traced upon her, their glow now fading as her aggression changed to wariness.

" I came here to talk with him she continued. I had the urge to see him so I came here to where he is being kept. He has been almost the only one I have... Hmm the word the word..." Ah, the only one I have conversed with for the time I have been in this place. *So I am not the only one to come here looking for …..* he hesitated *What is she looking for? Solace? Companionship? Someone to talk to or someone to listen? *

“I told him I would introduce myself to others when I felt I was ready... which I continued to... put off. I was going to introduce myself later on but I guess that I should have done so earlier... and under much calmer grounds...”

Hank smiled at the last remark *That would indeed have been more appropriate but much less fun.* The thought surprised him. It had been fun. The rush of adrenalin that had filled him as he rose to her challenge. The animal reaction that had taken over, for once his body dictating its imperatives rather than his mind. It had been refreshing and exhilarating and he found himself wishing to feel like that again and sooner rather than later.

Now that I know you are not to harm him, I no longer feel that I have to leap upon you and ravage you... Her words sent a ripple of shock running through Hank’s body as his mind conjured up the accompanying image. Wait, that is not the right word.... Ugh.. this language has so many words and meanings...." Disappointment, shaming but undeniable followed her statement. For one moment he had thought that the attraction he had felt had been mutual and he was stunned to realise that on some level he had hoped that was the case.

*What is wrong with me,* he thought. *I’m not some callow youth that can be so easily affected by a pretty face There has to be something more to this. A reaction to her mutant powers perhaps? In any case I must get it under control before it becomes apparent and causes embarrassment to both of us.

He regained his composure somewhat as she struggled with the unfamiliar words, fighting the beast in him back into its subservient role by an act of willpower which was harder than he would have thought possible " Anyway, we are no longer causing ripples in a pond I am thinking. Unless you really are going to try attacking." Hank wasn’t convinced. The pond of his self control had certainly been disturbed and he was far from sure that all the ripples had passed.
