John shrugged one shoulder and looked at the ground as they walked. "I'm not exactly sure... I'd like to ask her a lot of things, though... Like stuff about my father, and why she left me at an orphanage... I've just been so confused all my life about it, and I finally have a chance to get some answers."

John looked at Dane blankly for a moment before smiling softly. "I guess we could stop for a few minutes."
(OMG, I went to a Dairy Queen in Ohio, and the Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard thing is sooooooooooo good!)

As they walked down the street Dane looked over at John, "I feel so gay right now, walking all up beat with an ice cream cone at hand. woo hoo."

John laughed a bit as they walked. It always amused him to hear people say comments like that. "Hey, you're not the only one, but I'm already gay so that doesn't count," he said with a smirk and a wink.
Soon they reached a particular streetsign and John licked his icecream as he looked at it, seeming to be a bit nervous. "Alright... This is the right street." He looked around. "And there's the apartment complex." John took a deep breath and entered the large building. "Keep an eye out for the door with the number 85 on it."

John bit his lip and stood at the door with his hand out to knock, but seemed too nervous to actually do it. "...Could you knock for me?" he asked, feeling rather foolish.

John chuckled, "Thanks, I feel better now."
Viv looked towards the door from her couch when she felt the cold presence of vampires. The cold feeling was actually comforting to her, she hadn't felt it since John's dad was killed. But, even though her lover was gone, the mortal woman had never gotten over the little habits she had developed for him like sleeping during the day and staying awake at night. A thousand thoughts went through the Viv's mind as she went over to answer the knocks at the door. Vampires usually didn't come to the door and knock if they wanted to bite you, so who could this be and what did they want?
John grabbed Dane's arm as if to keep himself from falling over when the door opened and he saw his mother standing there. You could definitely tell they were related. Viv wasn't terribly tall (John gets his height from his daddy), but you could see similarities in Viv and John's facial features. She had green eyes and her blonde hair was back in a ponytail. Viv wasn't too old either, she seemed to be only about 35 or 36. The thing that made John smile a bit was the Nirvana shirt that his mom was wearing.
"Can I help you boys?" Viv asked as she leaned in the doorway, but she couldn't help but stare at John's amber eyes, the same eyes that her beloved had.
"Well, a little slayer friend of ours said I could find my mother here," John said as he pushed his blonde and pink hair out of his face.
For a moment, Viv looked like she was going to fall over in shock. Her eyes were lit up with joy. "Johnny boy!" she gasped as she hugged her son tightly. "I thought I'd never see you again! That boy from the orphanage- was he your boyfriend?- he said you were dead!"
"Um... Yeah, he was my boyfriend, but that was a long time ago," John said as he shivered from the woman's warmth. He was actually surprised that she knew he was gay but it didn't seem to bother her in the slightest.
"Well John, I suppose you have a lot of questions to ask me. Why don't you two come inside so my neighbors don't freak out?"
John nodded and followed his mother inside. He was surprised to see a bunch of baby pictures of him on the walls, along with loads of band posters.
"Have a seat, have a seat," Viv said cheerfully as she pointed out the couch and a few chairs to the two boys. "And I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name?" she said to Dane.
