Re: welcome to frank
I've been an ongoing Squeeze fan since the early 80's and I am still devestated that they did not reunite on the Bands Reunited show on VH1.
Re: welcome to frank
I cried at the end of the episode! After waiting through the week, watching and waiting throught the different episodes--this was a huge let down.
Boo-Hoo!
Re: welcome to frank
Well, we've got Glenn touring with his band. That should be a fair compensation? And I'd rather hear Glenn doing new stuff than hear Squeeze rehashing the old.
Re: welcome to frank
If the show at Oxford is anything to go by, IMO, this tour is going to be terrific! The tracks played from the new album were lively and interesting, just what we've come to expect.
And with the electric/acoustic mix, what else could we ask for?
Re: Welcome to Frank
didn't it seem strange to leave such a negative episode to finish on? from the viewpoint of vh1? why did they choose that one to finish on?
Hi everyone, I've just joined - am a 19 year old Squeeze fan from Essex. Don't ya just love em! Unfortunately I got into the band just as they were tailing off, and only caught the Excess Moderation/Domino tours which I'm sure even Squeeze would admit didn't show them on top of their game. Obviously they were amazing anyway but if only they'd reform as VH1 tried, with Gilson and Keith (Jools I never thought was that 'into' the band spirit anyway). Any of Squeeze's keyboard players would do, or bring in some newbie.
I've seen a couple of Glenn acoustic shows since - which are excellent - but haven't had the chance to see The Party/his new band. Love his new stuff but it isn't quite Squeeze-quality, needs the raw yet solid Difford edge.
Anyway, hi and I'm looking forward to discussing everything Squeeze related!
Re: Welcome to Frank!
Hi everyone,
My names Rona and I'm an avid Glenn fan (and Squeeze ). I'm not married to a Mark although I do know one of them . I'm married to Geoff and we have a kitten called Twinkie (there's a good reason why she has this name but its a bit long winded.
Good on you Vixx for this site. I'malways withyou in spirit although a bit lacking on the posting side . (No comments from Maggie may or Maidstone thankyou)
Just found out about this forum and it's great to hear about everyone.
I too have recently had my first child (he's now nearly 7 months) so I am finding it hard to get onto my computer as much as I'd like! He is already listening to Squeeze from a variety of eras. Currently he is being subjected to Glenn's new single, Untouchable. No doubt, he will aquire a taste for all things Squeeze!
Re: Welcome Me Too!
*waves* Hi, newbies! It's always so great to see updates on this thread . . . (although the idea is that the new poster starts a NEW thread when they join . . . )
I hope you have fun here and become a regular poster. If you have any questions or I can help in anyway, drop me an email or send me a PM, okay?
Welcome aboard - oh, and congrats on your little one, Liz! We'll have to bore people and exchange baby pics! >_<
Re: Welcome Me Too!
May I be the second, third or last to also welcome Tombsy, huddhen and Littiebuff. Actually Andiebell too in case I didn't say Hi earlier!
Howdy
Hello. I'm a 19-year-old American Squeeze fanatic (good luck finding another). I used to spin the "45s" and "Babylon and On" LPs on my mickey mouse turntable when I was three. Got hooked early. Proceeded to collect every Squeeze album on cassette, and later CD (sans the elusive D&T album). My father took me to see them at the University of Hartford on the Play tour when I was 7 -- my first concert. I saw Squeeze twice more (Ridiculous tour & Domino tour), and Glenn twice doing the solo thing. I'll be seeing him a third time next month at the Paradise in Boston (and with a band again -- exciting!). Though my musical tastes have shifted and expanded since my childhood, and I now consider myself an alternative/indie lad for the most part, there will always be room for Squeeze, the most underappreciated songwriters in recent history.
Re: Evenin' all
Hello all,
Good to see that the Squeeze community is very much alive and kicking. My name is Aidy (short for Adrian obviously) and I am a 22 year old squeeze fanatic. Some of you may remember me from the early days of the 'net when I used to be on the Squeezefan email list thingy - I was very impressionable back in good old 1998 !. I have also been to more or less every London gig since that year ! - Keep an eye out for the very tall half-Malaysian! . It's great to see the familiar faces at all the gigs !.
I am based in Maidstone (!), Kent but am at Uni in West London just about to finish a Journalism with Sound and music recording (wierd I know) degree ...
Other groups I love include - The Beautiful South, Pet Shop boys, Erasure, Saint Etienne, Ash and loads of others...
Fave Squeeze songs are Annie Getcha Gun, Sunday Street and my all time fave 853-5937...Does anybody else like this song ?....
