Freestyle concert
I would like to see an artist Jessica "La Duca" Lopez formally Amoretto sing again. She helped create Amoretto - the first 3 girl Freestyle group to come out in 1986. Lopez helped to design their clothes, look, song style and sound. She was responsible for finding Jeanette DeJesus, Annette Mimoso Cyre along with Rae Serrano of Ragun Productions. She then went on to help record the song with Tito Puente, Rae Serrano, Afrika Bambatta, Afrika Islam, OC and Charlie Chase just to name a few. It was so sad to see how the other girls never came to practice or even sometimes to the shows to perform - often leaving Lopez waiting with no response at these gigs. You have to remember that at that time Freestyle music was so new that not too many people had faith in this type of music. All of the sudden "Clave Rocks" was playing on the radio and Lopez had no choice but to re-record the song "instrumental style" and find NEW singers to portray the song live on stage. It was making money and because people didn't have faith - didn't mean that the song should die.
So here's to Jeanette DeJesus (Ballou) who said we were just models who photographed on the cover of the album at an www.discomusic.com interview. So here is our reply..... Where the hell were you that day we photographed the album cover!!! You were complaining that you wasn't getting paid enough. This project was so new that nobody was going to get paid!
Even Lisa Lisa said it! You never get paid hardly anything on your first song. We waited for you at practice and you know what ---we are here still waiting for you to come to song practice! What happened girl? Did Rae Serrano promise you the stars and let you drop. You should of listened to Jessica Lopez. She told you he was problematic as a producer!!
Here is a tip: Rae Serrano wanted to be on the cover of the record so bad that he forgot all about you once he got your voice on tape--Jeanette. Rae Serrano even said you didn't have the look to get on the album cover. That you were too skinny and your face didn't match his ideas.
He constantly got your name wrong - calling you Janet! That is why your name came out as Janet on the back of the album - so you could never touch him legally. We was so angry!!! No but you had to make a scene at the club La Mirage. Instead of talking to us. Well, we know the truth if you should ever need us--- just e-mail us at jljunej@netscape.net. We would tell him your real name and he would still forget.
You should of remained friend with the girls too. You should of trusted the girls that backed you up! I don't see you singing on the radio - girl. You put an end to that with your mistrust. You put an end to a whole album we recorded for you - bitch. So therefore you got blackballed in this industry. That's why your touring singing Jazz today. So let the girls get back to work to find new Freestyle artists to make up for the loss.
Today Jessica Lopez now "La Duca" is doing a new style of Freestyle soon to be announced. It has Latin influxes and African overtones and now she is working with 2 dedicated girls to rehearse with. With no gossip or back stabbing.
Re: Freestyle concert
I would like to mention that I would like to see one of the original 3 girl singers of Amoretto - Jessica "La Duca" Lopez who helped create the group who is now singing Freestyle alone- perform again!! I would like to see her sing by herself. Back then they did the song "Clave Rocks" which she was the brainchild of this first 3 girl Freestyle group. The other 2 girls never would show up to practice and sometimes even at the gigs - they would leave Lopez waiting. It is sad to see that at that time they did not have faith in what was called back then Freestyle. She now is developing a new sound and a new category name for this type of music - soon to be revealed with2 new girls. You can reach her at (212) 726-2604 CRP Music based in Manhattan.

FREESTYLE MEMORIES
I GREW UP IN THE BRONX AND PERSONALLY KNEW A LOT OF THE FREESTYLE ARTISTS. I, MYSELF RECORDED TWO SINGLES. ONE ON MIC MAC RECORDS CALLED "TAKE ME AWAY" (BY THE WAY MY SIGNATURE WAS FORGED IN A CONTRACT AND I HIRED A LAWYER TO HAVE ALL RECORDS REMOVED FROM EVERY STORE). THAT WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. THE SECOND WAS WITH AN INDEPENDENT LABEL(TWO TON RECORDS) AND THE NAME OF THE SONG WAS "LOVE ME BABY" PRODUCED BY EDDIE DAVIS FROM HANSON & DAVIS ("HUNGRY FOR YOUR LOVE"). I PERFORMED IN MANY CLUBS IN NY & NJ. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I HOOKED UP WITH PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO DEVELOPING MY CAREER SO I WENT ON TO DO BACKGROUND VOCALS FOR LISA LISA, TRANSLATING SONGS IN SPANISH, AND SO ON. IT WAS FRUSTRATING TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT COULDN'T HOLD A NOTE PERFORM AND BE SUCCESSFUL WHEN I KNEW I HAD THE TALENT NEEDED TO MAKE IT BIG. IT ALL COMES DOWN TO "YOU GOTTA KNOW THE RIGHT PEOPLE". I LEFT A LOT OF UNFINISHED PROJECTS UP IN THE AIR WHICH I HOPE TO ONE DAY GO BACK IN THE STUDIO TO FINISH EVEN IF IT'S FOR MY OWN ENJOYMENT.
I WOULD LOVE TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH SOME OF THE PRODUCERS I KNEW BACK IN THE DAYS LIKE: OMAR SANTANA, AL PIZARRO (FROM LA MIRAGE), CARLOS BERRIOS, TO NAME A FEW. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO PLEASE EMAIL ME AT MARLAGEE1@AOL.COM
THANKS

Re: Help Us Create The Ultimate Freestyle Concert For You !!
Hello Jorge:
My partner and I have a Production company here in Austin TX, which we promote Freestyle. Is there a way we can share info on what agent you are going to use for this event, and do you know of any Freestyle Agency here in Texas (I'm doing massive search on the Internet for a Agency in Texas).
We are also in a process of getting a night to setup a concert in a club to promote a Summer Strictly Freestyle Jam. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance,
Alex Rodriguez

Re: Help Us Create The Ultimate Freestyle Concert For You !!
I love freestyle music. I want to thank you guys for keeping freestyle alive. I think that Safire, Judy Torres, Lisette Melendez, Noel, Li'l Suzy, George Lamond, Stevie B, Jaya, Nayobe, Coro, Jhonny O, Cynthia, Corina, Brenda K Star and Sweet Sensation should be the one of the few that should be in the ultimate freestyle concert. I live in Boston MA, and if this goes thru you better believe my nieces and I (ages 19-26) will go all the way to Miami just for it.
