they would'nt look at his face
when cortez went to mexico, muntezumas people would not look at his face nor would they let his feet touch the ground, and they thought that him cortez on his horse was one great god,boy were they wrong.I'm a treasure hunter and believe me it was not the mountain of potosi. It looked like ape city. and I have another question, was'nt the general ursellas in beneath the planet of the apes the same actor as the man on the stairs who got shot. who gorified the divine bomb.getting back to my original statement it was one hell of a moment in hollywood flicks.almost as good as carl maldon >D

You make me think trimonkey!
That's a great example trimonkey! I would have never thought of that one! In the case of Cortez the Aztecs saw him as the fulfilment of a prophacy that had been long ago established. It's interesting however that the Chinese saw Polo and his band as hairy ape men and Muntezuma saw Cortez and his soldgers as gods and the fulfillment of a devine prophesy. But in both cases we see projection (in the case of the Chinese they were projecting their xenophobia onto Maro Polo while in the case of the Aztecs they were projecting their hopes and dreams for a new-age onto Cortez. But in both cases the 'foreingers' or Europeans were not seen for what they actually were: 'humans'; nothing more, nothing less [not gods and not apes; but human beings]). History seems to prove that sometimes it's a challenge to see past the differences to recignize the similarities that make us all human. The Aztecs were afraid of the foriegners and so had to expaine them or account for them with an ancient prophesy of a white god -something more than human that would usher in a new age or whatever. The Chinese were afraid of the Europians (the way they seemed so different) so had to dismiss them was less than human in order to cope with that fear. Fear is the operative word. It prevents us from seeing those things we have in common that make us human while leading us to emphasise the differences. We should embrace the differences and recignize the common humanity. But that's just one mans opinion.

Anyway, thanks. You make me think!:D

To answer your question, (if I understand it and I'm not sure I do so please correct me if I'm mistaken) the actor who played the character of Mendez XXVI (the guy that gets shot in front of the doomday bomb in "Beneath") was not the same actor as the one who played General Ursus (Ursus was played by character actor James Greggory whom you might have seen in such films as "THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE," "THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER" [with John Wayne], and playing Matt Helm's boss in the Matt Helm spy-film series[staring Dean Martin]. He's also famous for playing Inspector Luger on the long running TV sit-com "Barney Miller."). But I can't remember the mutant Mendez's name. I was just trying to remember that the other day but couldn't. But you might try checking the end credits the next time you watch "Beneath." I'm sure you'll find you answer than. And theirs always the INTERNET MOVIE DATA BASE website which should list the entire cast. Anyway, let us know if you find anything.

And furthermore...
...it just occured to me, had the Chinese not underestemated the West they might have resisted the Western colonialialst powers in subseqent centuries, and had the Aztecs recignized Cortez and the Spaniards for what they were (exploiters who wanted to rob the Aztecs of their gold and destroy their culture) they also might have defended themselves better. So an inability to recignize the humanity in others not only leads us to miss oportunities to establish peaceful relationships (as in the case of the Spaniards) but it also makes us vulnerable to exploitaion (as turned out to be the fate of the Chinese and the Aztecs).
Such theames are addressed in POTA. That is, Taylor is looking for something better than man (as were the Aztecks) but found a species that had displaced man and yet still exibited all of mans predjudices and superstitions. Taylor found humanity reflected in the Apes. Peire Boul noted that the word 'ape' also means to imitate. The Apes in POTA merely 'imitate' the humans whom they displaced and were not an improvement over humanity. That was why Zaius opposed the war in "Beneath." Because he knew that the same self-destructive tendencies that lead to humanities downfall could also existed, potentially, in the Ape.
Ok, I'll be quite now (for a while anyway)!:lol

Here we go again...and again....and...
Thanks Stefan. I really do know the difference between 'Their' and 'There' but when I type I seem to automatically type 'their' regardless. I think I just like typeing 'their'.:lol Seriously, somehow I get a real thrill out of it. Anyway, you keep correcting my mistakes and I'll start makeing them less and less often (someday).

Re
Yes cozad, I think you are addicted to "their" or something... :\ ;) .

Just one more thing:
It's "to make", but "making"
and "type", but "typing"

another favorite of yours :\ ("makeing" instead of "making").
I hope you forgive me cozad. You know, it's not only that I want to help you, but I'm getting afraid to lose my good English spelling :lol .

Stefan, you keep on correcting. I love it. I remember writing typeing and somehow thinking 'gee-maybe I should drop the "e". But than it didn't look right. To make, go making and not makeing. I Love it! You know my spelling is improveing everyday thanks to you. Anyway you keep correcting me as I don't want to contaminate your pure spelling.:lol

More spelling tips-thanks!
Ok, Stefan, I'll try to keep that in mind while spelling words ending in 'ing'. That would seem to be the trick-drop the 'e' when ending in 'ing'. Pitty I didn't learn this in the first grade like everyone else!:lol
