Beast List - Under Construction
Feline Breeds
Raykou
Covered in spiky yellow fur, these large felines tend to shock their own kind, but this rarely hurts unless there is an extreme power difference since they absorb the voltage, quite often they do this as a form of play fighting. During a thunder storm the lightning strikes the tails, dramatically increasing the Raykou’s powers.
Watou
This smooth blue feline-like creature lives mainly in the water, but it can walk on land, it leaves wet foot prints where ever it steps, it can't stand heat and dies in areas where there’s no moisture in the air for it to absorb through it’s skin, as a result it must avoid potentially fatal areas such as lava pits and volcano’s. It can control all aspects of water, even turning its form into that of a living liquid when submerged.
Cuga
A black or dark blue panther like creature, flames dance over it's body, able to create and control fire at will, this is an ancient beast, long thought of as a myth, until they began to appear near volcanoes. One or two have been seen roaming around the edges of the Mystic Woodlands, the Cuga are a pack animal by nature, even though at the same time they prefer their solitude from their own kind. As a result they have often taken to travelling with people who may cross their paths, always the wanderer, the Cuga is never want to be forced to do anything, if they do it, it’s always because they decide to. A Cuga may linger with a group for a short time but venture off on its own for long periods of time before returning once again, they are their own masters and will not tolerate servitude.
Hethor
This white tiger is adorned with pale blue or greyish stripes, it has the power to control the winds, it can even learn to create small twisters. Almost totally killed of over 100 years ago, these creatures are rarely seen roaming freely in the wild, but have been suspected of causing bad weather around human villages that are causing a lot of damage to the natural habitat around them. Hethor may rarely give their devotions to a human, but nature inclined creatures often win their respects and their friendships.
Margo
A black tiger with white stripes, able to disappear in shadows and turn invisible at night, they are a very distrusting breed and only tend to listen to their master. Although a frightening sight, especially since they stalk unseen in the night, their growling rumbles a frightening thing to hear in the darkness, Margo’s can be extremely brave, depending on what side the person who earns their respect is from, the Margo is rather neutral, more content in helping the one they have partnered with. Like many wild felines, the Margo does not take kindly to being treated like a servant, if they feel as if they are tools instead of allies, the Margo’s often abandon the inept individual.
Coralines:
Coralines are a small aquatic feline made out of a coral-like form, their colours vary from cat to cat. They have long horns which also vary between each feline, used mainly in defence when attacked. They are very fast and can control movements of water, they also are loyal and would never leave their partner for another person. These creatures rare extremely rare, but roam in the wild and have known to create strong currents in certain bays just to keep people away from their watery homes. Unfortunately some have been scooped up in nets and either kept as pets by the fishermen or sold as pets to others for a nifty price. Once the Coraline’s becomes attached to a person, they refuse to leave, highly affectionate as they are, when they are abused or mistreated, they are known to die from the depression, but still refuse to run away.
Leo/Leoess:
Leo/Leoess's resemble lions with a flamey tail (and males with a flamey mane). They take a while to get used to because trust is very important to them. They take training seriously and take great pride in themselves. They used to be hunted for their meat when they roamed the Shinra plains centuries ago, since it was fatal for their flames to go out, all the humans had to do was soak them in water and they got an easy meal. Although some people still hunt them, due to their severely decreased number, most pass the challenge of cornering one and settle for cows nowadays, or whatever they can buy at the street market.
Sabre-Toothed Tiger:
Although thought to be extinct because being slaughtered hundreds of years ago, these creatures are making a comeback in the Tribal lands. They are strong predators and love to make meals of virtually anything that moves! Bright light hurts their eyes but some Bacula have been known to venture off during the day, due to their fantastic hearing they can wander around with their eyes closed, they make a continuous grumbling noise, like a deep purr, which is much like a bats sonar and tells them what’s around them. He was stopped 6 years through his works by the Tower of High Magic after he started releasing his final products so he had more room for the newer improved ones he was trying to evolve through breeding and magic’s as well. The truth is that the Swaia breed only during the worst of weather, they live in caves they find in the most impossible of spots to reach. By using their ability to create whirlpools the Swaia create tunnels that enable them to venture through near impossible to navigate currents and make their homes there.
The Swaia are colony breeders which mean they gather in groups of about thirty or more depending on the available food in the area, they have a partner for life but don’t always share the same hunting grounds if food is low. If the partner doesn’t arrive for breeding the other goes searching for it, which is one of the two main reason they venture to land, trying to see if their mate died and possibly washed up on the nearby shore, if food is really bad, the Swaia have been known to leave the ocean and live in watering holes they find. Sway can not survive outside of water for more then an hour in the sun, needing to constantly keep themselves moist, if a Swaia goes to land to search for food in rainy weather, they have been known to get trapped there for months if they ventured too far inland. The Fangor have their own language, though it is very rudimentary and lacks an extended vocabulary (there are no synonyms, each word has one meaning), and their alphabet is very basic(18 letters, each representing one sound the Fangor are capable of stringing together into words and sentences). Some intelligent Fangor have appeared, and this could also be used as a race for your character.

They are mischievous spirits who enjoy punishing humans for wrongs done them, even unintentionally, and so accidents and diseases are considered their work. They may mean well, but the urge to punish sometimes over wells them and they play a trick or two which they wouldn’t usually do to someone. Their magic’s are widely different, but often involve nature, usually they can communicate with animals and/or plants, they have a deep connection with nature and usually can at least always have a sense of what it is feeling. They are tiny guardians of their domain, animals go to them for help and in turn help a fairy in trouble.
Banshee
Literally means a fairy woman, but is usually used to mean the spirit of a dead ancestress.
Gnome
A misshapen elemental spirit, dwelling in the bowels of the earth, and guarding mines and quarries, often troublesome for Dwarves who mine in Bermisheea,
Imps
Insidious devils often found serving lawful evil spell casters as councillors and spies. In their natural forms, imps look like tiny humanoids with leathery batwings, barbed tails and sharp, twisted horns. Their skin is dark red, their horn and jagged teeth gleaming white. They stand about two feet tall. They can polymorph and poison with their stinger on their tails.
Goblin
A grotesque, elfin creature of folklore, known to work mischief and serve evil.
Kelpie
A water sprite that is instrumental in bringing about the drowning of sailors and swimmers. Usually they do this only if their home is being damaged by humans, as a form of punishment, however most people aren’t aware they are the cause of the deaths. A Kelpie can travel the land but only for a few hours at a time before having to submerge themselves in water once more.
Pygmies:
A race of dwarfs, each of whom measured about 22 inches tall.
Troll
Malignant and often mindless giants. Impossible to tame, but easily able to be forced into servitude if one has the power to frighten them into submission.
Humanoid
Creatures that have a distinct human feature, an upper body or such, like Centaurs and Nagi. Races here can double as a Race to choose from…
Centaur:
Due to the callous nature of humans towards them, most are savage followers of The Army of Darkness, but some have been known to follow those of the Light.
They have the body of a horse and the head and upper torso of a man or woman. They are superlative bowmen and spearmen, and are intelligent and honour bound, but have a deep cultural aversion to magic.
Winged Centaurs:
Are a variation on centaurs. They came into existence after a culture clash between bird-like humanoids who welcomed a group of outcast centaurs into their village. Over years a collected of cross mated with centaurs and now the small village is home to the new race of odd mix bloods.. These centaurs have wings and can fly, they are shunned by other centaurs so rarely leave their small sanctuary, since the winged humanoids were extremely human like in facial appearance, the only thing different about the winged centaurs are that they are lighter, most bare wings, and they tend to be smaller, some are wingless but they are still lighter and far swifter then any normal centaur, though they lack the strength and power common to their race.
Nagi:
A serpent man or woman, they have the body of a snake and the upper body of a human, they can have any where between 2 arms to 6. They are different to Nagi though it’s something only the two races can really distinguish between the two at first sight. Nagi can have 2, 4 or 6 arms, depending on the purity of their families blood, as a male Nagi has occasionally breed with a female Naga. The Nagi are not as fierce as the Naga and not so willing to murder their own kind for a rank or place. The Nagi are ruled by the Nagi Queen, which is actually a larger version of their race but the Queen is more reptilian even in the humanoid part of her, covered in scales and without any hair, her eyes a striking yellow with black slits. The Nagi Queen is a vicious predator but silent and stealthy at the same time, she can also hypnotize her prey, command the weak minded to do as she wishes or if they lack the intelligence they remain poised on the spot, she doesn’t use it while hunting because the Queen prefers the thrill of the chase as much as the actual kill.
Another trick the Nagi can do which the Naga can’t is that they may shift their tail into legs, enabling tem to mingle amongst humans without being killed or shunned on sight.
Naga - Half Woman, half snake. Has six arms and pale blue skin, with a long red and black tail. Spits poison to blind attackers. Carries swords and daggers in four of it's hands.
Lives in rocky places. Not really good or evil. Although a male Naga is said to exist, one has never been seen, rumours state they are rare and generally the females seek the males in order to reproduce, the males are said not to have a single mate, and there for any female is welcome to his cave, however it is common for the males to devour any male child born, so it isn’t uncommon for the female to leave and attempt to fend for herself during her pregnancy of three months. A Female Naga with who bares a son automatically holds great power and respect by others of her kind, it isn’t unheard of for another mother to kill the male child of another female in order to hold her rank in the area.
In general they are fierce protectors, usually of reptilians and nature, they consider snakes especially to be ‘children’ of sort, and often nest in the caves surrounded by the deadly Wurms, one of the other species that has ever been able to live peacefully with the massive underground dwelling serpents.
Satyr:
A forest and mountain creature. Part human, with a horse's tail and ears, and a goat's horns and legs, satyrs were merry, drunken, lustful devotees of Jazia and Lore, twins of Sharma and weavers of love and lust.
Minotaur:
A monster with the head of a bull and the body of a man, commonly used on the army of Darkness, some have turned their backs on their abusive masters and found life with the forces of light much more to their liking. They usually are rather chaotic in their work though, serving their needs with brute force instead of pure intelligence, though some are smart they have an instinct to charge which sometimes overrides their common sense.
Harpies
Human/Vulture crossbreeds with the head and chest of women, and bodies of vultures. Most of them are raucous, ill-tempered, ugly old hens, but a few are young and nice. They could fly with the speed of the wind, and their feathers, which could not be pierced, served as armour.
Ogres
Humanoid monsters, twice the height of a man as well as twice as gross and violent as any barbaric slob. Ogres are one of the strongest, stupidest and ugliest creatures you could come across.
Insects
Insectoid
Large bug-like creature, comes in many varieties, ranging from something much like a ladybug or beetle to a spider or a butterfly. They are very intelligent, some tend to stand on their back legs and most can speak, their main attacks include using their webs, poison, sonic sounds, or other such attacks common to their much simpler relatives.
Merka
A large bug that stands on it's back legs, ranging from light blue to darker blues, this creature is like a praying mantis, with long blades for its arms and red or yellow eyes with black pupils. The Merka are one of the deadliest bugs in Gysha, their speed and skill with their blades makes them a tough enemy, but a strong ally! Some are large enough for people to ride on their backs, due to their rarity, only a single small community have ever turned the Merka into the Beast their Beast Riders use.
Demons
Lymnades
Water demons. They had the gift of mimicry, and when a traveller neared one of their streams, they would call out for help in the voice of one of the traveller's loved ones. When the traveller approached the stream to help, he was pulled underwater and drowned.
Wraithlings:
Nasty little demons who are about the size of a human child, but extremely thin and chitinous. Their bodies are covered in black carapace, except for their four, round, blood-red, glassy eyes, and their long claws. Wraithlings delight in hunting in packs of about 5-10, running their prey down by scaring them and driving them to a dead end, then cornering them, and finally torturing and killing them.
Other Creatures
Apis:
The sacred bull of the ancient Races. They would be recognizable by certain sacred marks upon their body, also such as their colour (mainly black) and their red eyes
Sphinx:
1. A creature having the body of a lion and the head of a man, ram, or hawk.
2. a winged creature having the head of a woman and the body of a lion, noted for killing those who could not answer its riddle. Often placed outside ancient temples or secret entry ways.
Stasylt
These creatures are usually mistaken for great statues. The Stamsylt is grey and made of stone. They love to destroy things and are hard to control at times. They look like cougars that are carved out of stone, the only thing that sets them apart are the eyes, which are either green or red gems. They also blink, but very rarely.
Chimaera:
A monster that had a lion's head, a goat's body, and a dragon's tail.
Baloths- Enormous beasts whose appetites are voracious. They are scaly with huge claws, mouths, and teeth. No one has ever managed to tame one because the only way to gain a baloth's loyalty is to keep it fed. Baloths especially like the taste of other baloths, and will kill and eat each other if the opportunity presents itself.
