A List of all the Classes
Everyone needs to have some sort of profession. If you prefer to grab a big axe and cut your way through enemies then you probably should be a warrior, if you wish to delve into the arcane arts of magic, then a mage is the right path for you. Perhaps try to have a glance over the other bios to see what else is already in play, Magic is extremely popular, so you may desire to try and have a more unique character, even if you still want to use magic, if you look over other characters you can see what others have got and that way you can try and create something different. It’s no fun for new players if everyone else they meet has identical powers to them!
Gysha has several distinct classes all with unique skills and spells they can develop. Each makes for a different gaming experience. Don't worry if you cant decide, you are able to switch classes and become a multi classed individual later in your adventures. This however, is much later, once you have developed your character, you can make an adventure out of this, a warrior journeying to become a paladin, a stable boy wanting to become a knight, a novice mage wanting to learn the fine arts of combat as well as magic will be tiring and hard, no one can magically learn everything, and for me, the best part of the tale is how they get to be great, not just meeting up with them as the almighty unstoppable combatants they become.
People are able to suggest new classes, we're open for ideas, but you must tell us in detail what the classes are like and what they can do. If there is a class not listed, please head over to the Suggestions forum and put down a details explanation of the class (Their general powers, weakness, and such) Upon reading your idea, the admins most likely will accept it, but also they will need to incorporate it within Gysha's world, if you are not comfortable creating this link between them and Gysha's past, the admins will have no problem in doing this for you. It would just be a little odd to have one person with a unique class only to themselves, likelihood would be no one else signs up with your suggested class, however in general story wise, your character would have had to learn this class from somewhere… so we’d just put it down for others to read about and know it exists. You may, if you wish, request the class to be restricted, that is up to you as the creator.
Classes for now are:
Commoner:
These are people who aren't fighters, but make up the rest of the population of Gysha, these people make up the simple folk, or basic working class of Gysha. If you start with this class, you are able to advance into another class (like a warrior or mage for example) later on in your journey.
Warriors:
Warriors are the battle-hardened veterans of combat in the world of Gysha. They are the men and women who use brute force and battle cunning to defeat their foes and attain victory. A warrior’s creed is fight hard and die young. Warriors are skilled in all forms of combat with all known weapons and through their growth they obtain knowledge of their foes allowing them to strike more often and with more deadly accuracy. If you are looking for the type of character who will hack and slash his way through any problems that should arise a warrior is for you.
Slave:
The human body can still be sold and brought in these dire times, flesh is another product to be harvested and used for wealth and labour. Slaves come in all sizes, most commonly humans though a few inhumans are captured as infants and forced into slavery. Most slaves are with little education, depending on the master or where the slave was captured and what age. Children thrown into slavery tend to remain unable to read and write for the rest of their lives, while elder folk thrown into the wretched lifestyle have the knowledge they gained in their youth to guide them. Some slaves can be set free by their masters, some run away, others are sent off on quests on the masters behalf. Most slaves die soon in their travels due to their lack of knowledge with the world around them and the inability to easily meld into the freeworld. Some slaves are captured and resold illegally, a slave trader easily able to pick up the signs of a wandering slave, most would assume the person fled into hiding and would not worry themselves when the masters worry for their slaves safety. Some slaves have learnt to integrate into society after the deaths of their masters, instead of being sent to another master they flee and try to make their life elsewhere, most of the time slave traders manage to find the run away property, but a lucky few still remain hidden in the free world, and they fully intend on remaining there at whatever cost.
Prostitute:
People who sell their body for sex in order to obtain money are often looked down upon in public and yet usually do quite well for themselves nonetheless. Some remain stationary, working on a particular corner or in a certain brothel, some are owned by a Lord or Madam for one reason or another, usually runaways paying back their Lord or Madam for having taken them in. Others move from place to place to avoid the law and people recognising them easily. Some people are slaves sold into prostitution and are unwillingly forced into sexual acts with paying costumers. The law enforcement of Elrak in particular are extremely focused on ending these acts of injustice. Selling sex is strictly prohibited in Elrak, but has problem areas in the down town roads, Galdor on the other hand has been known to turn blind eyes towards ‘flirtatious woman’ standing at the corners.
Pirate:
Sea faring marauders, both the good and the bad. Commonly a pirate is nothing more then a selfish money grabbing cargo stealing brute. Some can be as charming as they come, others can be ruthless and despicable. Some are both. The most famous pirates in Gysha are the legendary crew of then ‘Green Sea’, the impressive ship is strong and sturdy, armed for combat and capable for quick chases, specially designed to sail shallow waters despite it’s size. Pirates often dream of either serving aboard the Green Sea or destroying it, taking their treasures and obtaining control of the infamous ship. Rumours say the passengers have found a large island surrounded by massive rocks which are near impossible to navigate. Upon the hidden land they live wealthy, the horde of treasures hidden within caverns carved out by rough Herosheema Sea and their bounty heavily protected by both their people as well as vicious sea beasts that dwell within the dangerous waters.
To most the Green Sea is considered a sort of ‘boogieman’ for the sea travellers, mainly because tales say that the water around the pirate ship would turn green when too close to its prey, the vessel they pursue seemingly ensnared by the green hued liquid. Some pirates are little more then explorers searching the seas, not all are out to snag up every trade boat they see. A group of pirates hunt the sea for other pirates, stealing the stolen loot for themselves but not stealing from any others, a group of self-righteous rogues out to steal from those who have stolen. All pirates have their own code, and they must follow their code otherwise they are considered traitors to their kind, even the most ruthless and fiendish pirates find it hard to ignore their code.
Rules of the Sea:
1. A pirate can not, and should not, break their oath.
2. A pirates gold is not his own, guard it well, or lose it fast.
3. Do not rob the same poor fool twice in a row when rich bastards sail the sea.
4. Do not trust your friends.
5. Do not trust your enemies.
6. Do not trust the trustworthy.
7. Trust only the dishonest, they will betray you just as you’d expect them to.
8. The smartest pirate is one who works alone. The dumbest is one who doesn’t enlist help.
9. Beware the seas of Herosheema, many a greedy fool have perished there.
10. When one requests retribution, one must be offered a retribution, regardless of the situation and whom had requested it. When injustice is done, revenge is a just reward. Honour it.
The tenth code was designed to offer those who have been done wrong by a pirate the chance to have the revenge they may seek. Unfortunately those not aware of the code are unaware of their right to call for retribution, which would entitle them the chance of meeting face to face whoever caused the injustice, if more then one it is permitted for the entire group to be brought forward, and an equal amount of people may join the accuser if they are able to produce that number there and then. The code is strictly kept between the pirates, mostly only those who are related to one or spend time out on the seas would know of these codes.
Dragon slayer / Slayer of other creatures:
Similar to demon hunters and other hunters, Slayers are infamous killers of beasts, some pride themselves on knowing how to kill a certain beast efficiently, such Slayers are often hired to kill off troublesome creatures near towns or villages. Dragon Slayers are used for wild dragons whom terrorize the countryside or as weapons again the warriors reputably known as Dragon Riders. Some Slayers have a personal vendettas against a particular creature, while others have a talent at killing things, either way, Slayers travel the world to slay and lay waste to their desired prey, heeding to the calls of people in need of their special talents.
Bounty hunter:
Head-hunters are out to get their prize at whatever cost, when a reward is offered they’d stop at nothing to obtain that reward if they think it’s worthy enough of the trouble. Some make a habit of going after only the easy catches, others pride themselves on accepting nothing but the worst of the worst cases, others hardly care who and what they are after as long as there is a reward of some kind. Usually bounty hunters travel by the Green Dragon or their other sources to find out which reward is best and what their target is like.
Bard:
The musical talents that wander from one town to another, singing tales of old and keeping the histories alive with their wondrous melodies. These travelling entertainers have wandered over Gysha since Amlarie had blessed the world with song after the First Wave of Darkness that had - when the war was over - left a hollow emptiness that was only able to be filled with the pain and suffering of those left in the world. Amlarie sang into the heavens, the daughter of Terrelia allowing her voice to sing across the lands and fill the hearts of others with hope once more.
When Amlarie grew tired and could sing no more, people grew sad, and to solve this, Amlarie sought out hundreds of souls across the world, giving them the power of music. Over the many lifetimes since then, they have come to call themselves Bards, and while they go from one town to another, singing hope and joy as well as telling tales of sorrow and misery for others to understand the happenings that had befallen Gysha, they also gain great knowledge if many things from many different areas.
Often Bards tend to be a great source of information, though not all use their talents for the good of others, some have been known to use their talents as a way of earning money, some find a place to settle down and entertain outsiders. Others even are called upon the royal families to stay within their powerful homes in order to entertain their noble guests, though some bards, so powerfully gifted are able to sooth men’s mind or fill them with courage or any form of emotion by planning any number of tunes have been summoned to help during battles, their music filling their hearts of the warriors, or casting sorrowful of calming and relaxing tunes into the enemy.. leaving the enemy in a state unable to always fight off the often-enraged counterparts.
Thief:
Thieves, Rogues, Highwaymen, exist in all cultures in the world of Gysha. Some people just seem to have a natural talent for procuring items that don't belong to them. Thieves in the world of Gysha are masters of the shadows. They can sneak, hide, pick locks, use poisons, and use many other less then honourable talents. Of course many of these skills lend themselves quite nicely to the lifestyle of an adventurer, and thus not all thieves are bad, some are down right nice people, who just seem to always be in the wrong situations. Thieves have average combat abilities but with their knowledge of poisons can be a formable opponent.
Cleric:
Clerics are men and women that have been granted magical abilities for their commitment to their faith and deities. There are clerics of every imaginable religion and faith in the world. If there is a deity chances are it has followers and clerics. Clerics can be of any alignment depending on which deity they follow. Since clerics are given divine power they often have the ability to control life and death itself. They make excellent healers, and have great powers to protect people from harm.
Mage:
Mages are the masters of the arcane. They have the knowledge of how to harness the magic that exists in the world of Gysha and bend it to their will. Mages are perhaps one of the most diverse classes of the world as through magic they can dish out destructive forces beyond a warriors wildest dreams, travel in a second to the far reaches of the world, or even conjure force protective wards to protect themselves and their allies from harm. The knowledge of how to harness magic does come at a price however, a mage spends most of their time studying from books and scrolls, and spends little time developing themselves in the art of physical combat. Thus they make poor armed combatants. Their magical abilities greatly defeat this weakness as they advance in knowledge and levels making for perhaps the most powerful characters in the game.
Due to this power, the people of the world do tend to fear them, Dark Mages had been a great force of evil and destruction during the Dragon Wars, and many tend to think Mages are power hungry, and see only to strengthen themselves in order to over power the non-magic users of the world. Often this is in fact the exact opposite of what happens, most often Magic Wielders, Mages from Sky City's elite schools in particular, are trained and taught how to better protect their fellow Gyshan's from the dark powers that spill over the world.
Formally known as Phsyconic / Masterminds
Masterminds are masters of their own minds and others. While mages and clerics draw their magical powers from external sources, a Masterminds digs deep into their psyche and harness the powers of the mind which only a few know how to control. Mastermind characters are highly focused on abilities that benefit themselves, through protective forces or outright assaults on an opponents mind. Masterminds also posses the ability to gather information with ease as they are able to extract the information from the minds of others.. You cannot lie to a Mastermind.. Masterminds powers are not a mix of a mages or clerics spells, they are a completely unique class.
As the powers of the mind are hard to control and even more draining to use, Mastermind warriors tend to only focus on different aspects of their powers. One who uses their mind to move things may not be able to harness the ability to use their mind to control the actual movements of other people. Just because there is a great deal many of mind powers, does not mean a Phsyconic is able to harness them all, make sure to try and not pick over three different abilities for your character.
Paladin:
Paladins are the heroes of the world religions and faiths.. They are the people whose faith is so strong they become empowered as a tool of their deity. Paladins are both cleric and warriors at heart, they are as faithful as the most devout cleric, and yet have the knowledge of a seasoned warrior. One cannot say paladins are a warrior cleric as they have many unique skills and abilities that neither a cleric nor a warrior posses. Paladins do however have divine power over the extreme opposites of their faith, be it the ability to banish evil from their site, to detecting truth and goodness in people. If you are looking for a balanced playing experience in which you want some magic but also the strength of a warrior then a paladin might be what you seek.
Rangers:
Rangers are people who are attuned with nature, and share a natural affinity with the wild. They are expert hunters and trackers, and are more knowledgeable at survival techniques and nature lore then any other class. Rangers excel at physical combat as living in the wilderness often tests their courage and fortitude to survive. Rangers also sometimes posses magically abilities which lets them call upon the inherent magically forces of nature to assist them when needed. This could be from conjuring an ice storm to freeze opponents, to being able to locate an animal a great distance away, or even as basic a power as able to see great distances.. or good hearing, or able to sense whispers of the trees or the wind. To have a good strong character, you don't always have to have someone who can defeat everyone in sight within a blink of an eye.
Demon Hunters:
When someone makes it their goal in life to hunt and destroy all demons they can find, they are classed as Demon Hunters. They are extremely knowledgeable in Demons and most know the strengths and weaknesses of the common demons that inhabit the world of Gysha. They are strong, normally fast and have a keen sense of mind and sharp hunting/tracking skills as well as skilled in weaponry and combat. Those who are not skilled in either fighting or in setting traps, are killed early in their career, since most demons possess great strength, and are tough opponents.
Sorceress / Sorcerer:
Able to use both magic and most weapons, they are one of the few class that can also ware any amour, most of the experience is taught to them by a single master who has taken them under their wing. However normally these magic casters attempt to their train themselves greater in magic or in combat, only same have the patients of heart and mind to study both sides of their talents, for it will be slow and they will fall behind any others of their class who are opting to choose to learn more in one of the arts then the other.
Natural Witch:
Can manipulate all things of nature, all spells that involve nature are greatly increase, unable to perform any dark magic. Their love is strong for nature, and good or evil, they can't stand harm coming to forests or wild animals, and they will punish those who try and harm them.
Most of their powers are instinctive, such as calling on vines perhaps, or listening to the words of the creatures, powers depend on the person, their sense of devotion towards nature also helps either increase their strength of power, or if they are lacking the devotion, weaken it dramatically.
Holy Crusader:
Born on the island of Tyrian in most cases, the Crusader’s are rare and the very few who are seen are usually from what is generally rumoured to be ‘The Holy City’, the name of the island, Tyrian, is however forbidden to be spoken off its shores. The heavenly fighters are devoted to the many gods and understand the balance each god provides in their own way. Sometimes one may feel a greater allegiance to certain god/goddess, but never do the Crusaders turn their backs on any of the nine deities. That however does not mean they won’t take up arms against worshippers of the dark lord and try to put an end to the evil, harmful and often destructive nature of the chaotic sects. It is unheard of that one of the Holy Lands finest warriors are evil in nature, some may be arrogant and feel their way is the right way, but any Crusader who does turn traitor and fight for the darker side is then banished from ever returning home – and often hunted by the other Crusaders who hear of the misdeeds.
As Tyrian bares little knowledge in the way of magic save for the few secrets held within the temples for the Priests to know only, none of them are trained in arts of magic, but have impeccable combat skills in their weapon of choice. Most are adapt at horse riding, weapons such as cross bows, daggers, short swords, long swords, broad swords, first aid and a keen sense of who is trust worthy or not – otherwise they tend to perish early in their careers.
Dragon Rider:
The most powerful class in the world, feared and respected alike, these mighty warriors can cast up to 5 different spells by the time they become fully fledged Riders, the defence and attack is far greater then any other class since most of the Dragons are resistant to most magic’s. This is basically a class restricted for the Admins or High Ranking RP'ers of the board. An NPC class mostly, Dragon Riders are here to stop people abusing their powers and Rank, they keep an eye on the happenings of the world and are loyal to their rulers.
Should a Dragon Rider be separated from their Dragons, although still taught opponents, they lose their advantage in battle, and become as equal as any other dragonless warrior. The great thing about being a Dragon Rider however, is that they are eventually, over time, trained to form not only mind links with their Beasts, but with the other Dragon Riders of their group. This link is weak and hard to form, and can only be summoned at will, it is not always open, and it will be draining for non-magic users especially to use.
Dragon Riders may be highly skilled, but they try not to use their greater powers unless it is absolutely needed, there are different levels of Dragon Riders, and not all will be strong. Novice Riders can be considered equal strength to a slightly above average fighter. All Novices must go under many vigorous experiences, learn many things, and most importantly no Novice may leave that rank until they have formed a bond and mind link with their Dragon, for some it is easy.. for others a long and painful journey of time and patience.
Other Beast Riders:
There are other riders then just the Dragon Riders, but the other riders are of lower rank, the type of animal Beast Riders use can depend on where on the world of Gysha they come from. Alicorn Riders, Unicorn and Pegasus Riders, most Horse Beasts tend to be used by Beast Riders, and are a common sight in the world, but any animal able to hold a body on top of them can be used by someone.
Other Classes:
Other classes can be found in Gysha, do not feel restricted to what is listed here, this is just what has been thought of and planned out. Feel free to add and create more for this vast and wondrous world to gain yet more flavour and life.
