Well she hadn't really agreed yet to lie for him...but by the looks of it she was willing to do such a thing, but she was only doing it because he was asking her to do it...not because she wanted to do it.. Now he felt bad asking her to lie, because he was selfish, so selfish, and didn't want a part of him who had been dead for so long to be forgotten..
'Why does you mother think your dead Riley?' It was at first thought to have simply been a dreamed up statement of his guilty mind after having brought up his mother, but as he stared at her, her eyes told him that's exactly what she had said. How....how did she know of his...how could he explaine such a thing to her..
'Why would you do that Riley? It's not nice, you don’t ...' He was speechless, and yet crushed at the same time, he didn't like talking about his parents like this...it hurt so much, it felt like everything inside of him was breaking apart.
'..you don't understand what it does to people.' He tore his eyes from her and glued them on the floor in front of him, now he wished she'd just yell at him, why did she have to bring this up, why did she have to ask about this...
'None of us know what’s the truth about you anymore.' Slowly his eyes returned to her, she was looking over his face, she was staring at him like how Claire once would stare.. Trying to figure the truth from the lies, being told the truth and then not really sure if she can believe it..
'Who are you Riley Finn.' Once again her dark chocolate brown eyes searched his face, his eyes drifted off for a moment to the wall beside her, before making their way back to hers.. Who was he? Or who was Riley Finn...because Riley Finn and Agent Riley Finn where two totally different people. He thought hard for a moment, Catherine was the only one who knew about his new life, she was the only one who really knew him.. But she wanted to know about Riley Finn...well...would she even believe him if he told her?
Well they had time to kill, and even if she didn't believe him, part of him was desperate for someone to know about him, someone to know him, before and now.. He smiled faintly at her, crossing his legs and leaning his back against the wall, looking down at the floor in front of him as he thought..
"Everything used to be so normal, and everyday you knew what needed to be done, but the challenge was trying to get it all done without any problems." He thought for a moment of all the chores he'd do, a lost sheep, a wounded or stubborn horse, lost chicken.. Nails not holding, things falling apart, the tractor not starting, all so simple, basic, silly little things that where really important at the same time.
"In the mornings Sky would always be in the front paddock right in front of our house, and she was a beautiful horse, we used to enter her into town festival shows. I could see her from my window, and in the spare room just across the hall from mine, you could see the large pond through the window." He could almost see everything in his mind as he tried to remember, it had been so long since he tried to think of his home in so much detail...but he remembered his so clearly..
"And mum would get six eggs fresh from the hen house, fresh bacon from the town shops, bread that she'd made the night before...everything was just so fresh.. And you could smell her cook in the morning, even if dad and I where up early in the barn, sometimes he'd get me to help him milk Cammie..she was our cow." He grinned slightly as he remembered trying to figure out how to milk her, but it was easy after his father showed him how. He missed that....he missed....missed everything, his hand stroked through his hair as he looked away from her for a moment. He shut his eyes for a moment before turning back and letting his eyes stare down at the floor again, he couldn't look at her...
"And...and I'd walk down the stairs, and the front part of the house was the kitchen and eating area, so mum would be there, serving the plates of food onto the table, and dad with his paper.." His head tilted to the side slightly as if he was staring at something, then his right hand hovered over his lips as he continued to talk.
"Every morning, she'd have this smile on her face, as it just made you smile back..and...." After a moment his hand lowered, he'd never seen his mother cry before, not until he watched his best friend tell them that Riley had died. He stole away her smile, he stole away part of her family, he was her only child and he just...let the Initiative steal him away. He tried writting them, he tried leaving, but they'd always show up....they'd always bring him or his letters back.
"...And they won't let me..." He trailed off, taking in a shaky breath before starting his sentance again.
"...Everytime I leave Catherine, everytime I try and go home, they come after me, they just....keep coming after me, and I put everyone around me in danger.." He stared back down at his hands, then slowly looked over at her, before tearing his eyes away again and staring at the wall with his head partly turned away.
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells'In the mornings Sky would always be in the front paddock right in front of our house, and she was a beautiful horse, we used to enter her into town festival shows. I could see her from my window, and in the spare room just across the hall from mine, you could see the large pond through the window.' She tired to picture everything in her head as he talked ... the cows, the chickens, the kitchen ... of course what she saw was completely different from what it really looked like but it still made her happy to think of it all. It sounded like a really nice place to her, she half wished Anne and Roger had lived somewhere like that ... or maybe even the suburbs, she'd spent the last two years being surrounded day in and day out by towering flats and office buildings or being shunted around under ground by the subway, a far cry from where she used to live.
'Sounds nice.' She said, even though it sounded more than that to her.
'Everytime I leave Catherine, everytime I try and go home, they come after me, they just....keep coming after me, and I put everyone around me in danger..'
She looked thoughtful for a minute before slipping the jumper over her head, it was far to big for her, it came down past her hips and the arms fell over her hands, she moved to sit cross legged and looked at him. The effect was quite strange, she looked like she was being swamped by the jumper but at the same time there was something almost cute about the way the sleeves kept falling over had small hand's causing her to keep pushing up the sleeves. She abandoned the attempt after several tries, letting the sleeves do what they wanted.
'Couldn't we ... when we get out that is ...' She had to believe she would get out, X-force would come for her ... they had to. 'tell Xavier, I'm sure we can keep you safe.' had she just said we? she was sure she'd meant to say "he", she nervously rubbed the fingers of one hand across the palm of her other hand through the fabric.
'Or ... or ...' Why was she so confused all of a sudden, she looked down at the ground trying to collect her scattered thoughts, she was just glad he wasn't looking at her.
'why can’t you just tell them your quitting your job, hand in your notice, maybe they just don’t like you running away.' Her eyes searched eagerly for his but she couldn't quite see enough of his face to do that.

Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
he was silent for a while, processing all of what the vampire had said, his singing had been conforting. as his mind played over all the information of the vampires escape it kept going back to the drugged food "the food is drugged" he exclaimed, sounding happy like he had just been given a million dollars.
he slumped on the floor next to spike "when's feedin' time, i'm hungry" he said out loud *i need some of that drug they used to knock me out before, is the stuff in the food the same* he spoke to spike only, it would be pointless to ask catherine, and of the two who had dealt with the initative spike was the only one who Thompson could read the thoughts of *just think it, dont say it out loud* he added, tapping his fingers together and looking at the ceiling.
OOC: yes i realise vampires are supposed to be imune to telepathy, but there wouldnt be a point in the order training him with telepathic powers if he couldnt read vampires minds as well, so he's undergone some special training or something
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
It was a moment before he even built up the strength to shake his head, there was no such word as 'quit' when you where part of the Initiative. Even if he could escape, even if, by some twist of fate, Xavier could help him, after the Initiative have already invaded the school grounds. What point was there, honestly...he won't last a year if this chip keeps frying his brain for no reason.
"Even if I got out...I don't think I'd last very long, the sudden lack of commands aside, I think Lisa would order me about enough to keep me alive." He half teased with the faintest of smile, before continuing on with what he was trying to tell her.
"I don't think I'll.." He tailed off, looking over at her, he hadn'tnoticed her in his jumper, she looked so different, he wanted to smile...he wanted to drop the whole subjet...but he also wanted to tell her..
"The chip...the one they put here-" His fingers gently pressed against the right side of his head as he talked, but once he got that far he pulled his eyes away from her, staring at the glass barrier.
"...It's broken, and it just zaps me, for no reason, just, over and over, every day, every few hours, sometimes I can ignore the pain, other times....it just get's so painful.." Going silent, Riley simply let the subjet drop, he wasn't really keen on the topics they have been discussing, but then again, at the same time, it was...strangely relieving to tell someone who wasn't part of the Initiative all this..
"...Catherine, how did you know about my parents?" He looked over towards her again, had they gotten one of his letters, had they come looking for him, how would they have known where to look...
"I've been trying for 6 years, but my calls are disconnected, my letters returned, my tickets cancelled, my routes blocked.." He trailed off and simply waited for her to tell him how she knew of it..
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
Her hand's played with the material of his jumper, plucking at the stitches, waiting for her to reply to what she'd said, her eyes flicking from his face to the floor and then back to his face. Worried he might snap at her, she hadn't seen Riley yell properly before ... apart from in Lost Angles at her, but she was sure he could get angrier, everyone had a breaking point. Even Brad had one but she'd only seen it a couple of times after she'd been attacked by the group of men ... he'd punched the wall in his anger the other memorable occasion was when Nina's boyfriend hit her and then he'd punched the guy ... broke his jaw. Jon had a real temper on him, she remembered him grab hold of Bekki's wrist once, and he'd looked as if he was about to lay into her but the noise of Cat standing up quickly and knocking her chair to the floor by accident and taking one step towards Jon even though she was scared he might turn on her. He'd just glared and Bekki and let her go ... slowly, each of his fingers opening as if in slow motion and releasing her. Apart from a muscle in her cheek flinching as he grabbed her Bekki had remained stony faced through out. If Bekki was anything she was brave, Cat had always looked up to her in both in the respect of her beauty and her bravery. If Bekki said she liked something Cat always agreed with her and changed her own tastes to match, if Bekki said Cat looked good in a certain style of clothes, primarily her combats then Cat went out and bought them, If Bekki said she should date a man that asked her out then Cat would go on a date with him ... even though they did end up as disasters. She'd spent the last two years searching for her approval, and her approval was something that made Cat happy, she liked praise, she needed it, it made life worthwhile. And approval was something she didn't get from many other sources.
She closed her eyes thinking back to the last date she'd been on, trying to remember his name, it had been some type of poncy name, a weird one ... Philip ... Pietro ... Preston ... she frowned ... Presley! that had been it, stupid name for a stupid boy. She'd learnt enough to know that a man's looks bore no relation to their intelligence. It wasn't like she wanted a conversation about astro physics ... she wasn't even sure what that was but sitting in a dingy restaurant, with moth-eaten seats. The place had a gothic theme and was dimly lit with flickering candle light, playing across the faces of the two.
Presley had spent the whole night telling her about every baseball game he had played on the school team, she'd spent the who evening staring at the back of her hand, selecting the most expensive things off the menu to order, drinking and not giving him ten percent of her attention. It had ended when he decided to slide his foot up the inside of her leg, well the actual ending had been when she dumped her drink over his head and stormed out of the restaurant.
She glanced back at Riley ... wondering if he was going out with Dawn, she'd taken his disappearance very hard indeed, but she hadn't asked Dawn and this really didn't seem the time to question him ... why did she even want to know?
'It's broken, and it just zaps me, for no reason, just, over and over, every day, every few hours, sometimes I can ignore the pain, other times....it just get's so painful.'
'Dawn mentioned that ... carn't you have it fixed?' She tilted her head onto one side and regarded him through serious dark eyes.
'Catherine, how did you know about my parents?'
'Ummmm.' She turned red and didn't quite meet him in the eye, wondering if he'd get upset or angry over waht they'd done. 'Well Dawn knew where your letters and things were and she kind of read a few and got really upset, she hasn't been going to classes.' She wasn't even looking at his face anymore, but at his booted feet 'And then Cody cracked the code to your diary ... I havent read any of it.' She continued quickly, not giving him a chance to get mad at her for anything. 'And ...' She was looking down at her own lap now 'Angela wrote to your mum who wrote back sayin you were dead. She said you went to an achademy? ... what was it like?' Apart from wanting to change the conversation she was quite interested, she didn't know that much about Riley and she was curious to find out more. Riley must be really, really smart to get in somewhere like that ... you had to get straight A's in everything didn't you ... something like that. She turned slightly red as she thought about her own grades ... grade, feeling rather stupid beside him, but she was just glad he didn't know ... but of course everything like that was recorded in the file he'd read.
'Why didn't you just get Dawn or Lisa to send them?' She asked, looking at him for a second.
ooc: can I have the link to the page u got the pics for the sig from? I've had to resinstall windows XP
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Shifting about uncomfortably, Riley stared at the wall away from Catherine for a bit, sure he could get the implant fixed, but they said in order to fix it Riley would die in the process..not really an insentive to get the thing fixed.. He slowly turned his eyes towards her one again, they cracked his diary? That was the only thing that he ever had that he told all his little secrets to....he wasn't sure he wanted them to read it, hadn't be mentioned the Initiative a few times? Now they'll all know about him...all about his awful lies..
"They read my letters..?" He didn't add anything to that, part of him was so sad that they read them, that they'll discover about his real life, if they read enough of them, if they read all of them, they'll no more about him then his own parents..
"Graham told his brother about him being a member of the Initiative, the next day his brother didn't show up at work, he wasn't at home, Graham had Forrest and I searching for him for hours. He just showed up again the next day, didn't even recognise Graham, his I.D's had been changed, he's now James Packard, married and with a kid...all in one day." He looked over at Catherine, he wasn't joking, he was serious, dead serious, he didn't want that to happen to Lisa or the others, he didn't want their memories to be wiped or altered because he told them the truth.
"Graham's entire family were killed when he was young, his brother, Charlie was all he had left, and now because he told his brother that, he doesn't even remember Graham any more. I couldn't risk that ever happening to people Catherine, I didn't want to risk Lisa showing up three days later as...Samantha Price or something." He looked away, his fingers stroking over the top of his head slowly, yet stressfully, he just wanted all this to be a terrible nightmare that he'll just wake up and be back on the farm..
"They said I had two options, have my family think I'm dead, or have them forget I was ever born...part of me wishes now I had chosen the last one...I never saw them cry before.." He stared rather blankly ahead for a moment as he remembered sitting in the locked car watching as his friend told them about his death. No, he didn't wish he chose the last one, he wished he never had to choose at all, how could they make him choose between such a thing!? And more importantly...why did he let them do that...why did he let them ask him to choose such a terrible thing..
"When I sent the application for the Acadamy, I just wanted to see if I could get in, if by some luck I could have the chance of getting a real education in the city. I never expected to get in, and when the letter came I didn't even want to go. But mum was just...I told her I could just get a tutor and stay on the farm and help out. That's all I wanted to do, just...just stay with them and help out, but she wanted me to go, she wanted me to see if there was something else I could do." His voice had become upset, but when he stopped talking he placed his hand over his face and just shut his eyes so he could calm down, when he continued, he spoke in a very quiet voice as he looked back at her.
"I thought....we don't have many teachers in my area, and sometimes people couldn't get to the school because of problems. So I thought....maybe I could become a tutor, go to them, maybe that's what I could be. And then I became a Psych major and I thought I could also help in that field as well, we didn't have anyone like that back home." He stared down at his hands for a moment, then frowned and looked over at Catherine once again.
"I don't understand, when they where taking me, when Joan said she was going to be my wife, didn't Lisa find that strange? I mean...." He looked rather confused and almost upset thought it was mostly hidden by his confusion as he talked, trying to figure out what he was trying to ask.
"If I was going to marry someone, I would at least tell every single person who happens to be in ear shot. And there are ways to tell if someone is courting someone else, every place has a different way of doing. Like India with their red and black spots and in my town some of them would have matching rings with the names of partner inside. Even in the Initiative we have a thing where when you want to begin courting someone you offer them one of your tags." His hand grabbed at his vest jacket and he fiddled around with it, looking for something from within one of the isnide pockets. After a moment he pulled out a necklace of sorts, the silver chain housed two small silver military tags, both his full name and then underneath his registration.
"Graham has one of his, and one of Jessie's, so people know they are together, it also helps incase one of them dies...we know who needs to know about it first." He stared at his tags but then dropped them onto his vest without putting it back inside the pocket. He hadn't been wearing them for a while because he was at the school, and he had forgotten all about them until now. He stared back ahead at the barrier, then watched as Spike and the other guy seem to have gone extremely quiet as they waited for feeding time.
"As far as I can tell mate, it was the same, but I can't really tell one knock out drug from another...since I'm knocked out at the time.." The vampire thought rather sarcasticlly, though he was curious as to why this guy was so eager to get pumped full of drugs.
"Every four hours last I was'ere." He added in his mind as he fidgeted with the rim of his shirt, half listening to what Riley and Cat where on about without appearing to really be paying them any attention. Riley thought for a moment, he wasn't mad at Lisa, though maybe the way he put it, it might have sounded like that.. Part of him realized he had just been blurting things out without really giving her a chance to reply....but he never had someone to talk with about things like this before...he was afraid of what would happen when she leaves...when he helps her escape, who will he have left to talk to...
"I think...I'm not upset about the fact Joan just came and....I think it's fact that I didn't have the will to fight her off, and then with you at the school, she just...ordered me to draw my gun and I aimed a loaded weapon at you. And I didn't even realize it was you, which makes it worse, that I forgot, that I just so blindly follow her orders without the ability to stop myself. And that's scary, the thought she could make me do anything, hurt anyone, even the people I care about, without me even realizing it." He stared down at his hands once again, then shamefully looked away from Catherine. How could he even live with himself if he ever hurt someone from the school, if Cat had fought back, would Joan have ordered him to shoot her...and if she had ordered him to...would he have had the strength to stop himself?
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells'They read my letters..?' Cat felt awful and stared down at the floor in front of her, her eyes fixed upon her black shoes.
'Dawn's really upset she wanted to find out your home address, she wanted to write to you or come visit you.' She said making excuses for Dawn. 'And then we didn't know why you hadn't sent the letters ...' She let her eyes slip to his face for an instant '... until the last one.' Cat said referring to the one he'd written from the school which had also been returned. She felt sorry for him, it must be hard to have your parents there but not be able to see them, to have them grieve over you, to have them think they've had to bury you.
'Graham's entire family were killed when he was young, his brother, Charlie was all he had left, and now because he told his brother that, he doesn't even remember Graham any more. I couldn't risk that ever happening to people Catherine, I didn't want to risk Lisa showing up three days later as...Samantha Price or something.' She looked across at him in horror, was this really the place he'd lived for the last few years, this was a side of Riley she couldn't quite believe existed ... where had the Riley she knew gone?
'And then I became a Psych major and I thought I could also help in that field as well, we didn't have anyone like that back home.' She blinked ... her was a Psych major? what was one of those, it sounded very important though and what was psych?
'What's a psych major?' God he was going to think she was so stupid now, why hadn't she just kept her mouth shut and smiled?
'If I was going to marry someone, I would at least tell every single person who happens to be in ear shot. And there are ways to tell if someone is courting someone else, every place has a different way of doing.'
Was she blushing? at least she got what he meant by courting how ... she thought, did you have to be engaged to be courting or was it just dating? At least Lisa could be relived over the fact he wasn't engaged.
'Oh.'
'in my town some of them would have matching rings with the names of partner inside. Even in the Initiative we have a thing where when you want to begin courting someone you offer them one of your tags.'
'That’s sweet.' She said and frowned. 'I don’t think they have anything like that in Washington ... unless maybe getting a tattoo with the other persons name on.' But in her estimation that wasn't too romantic, she glanced at the silver tags in his hands for a second ... dog tags then watched him drop them into his vest.
'I think...I'm not upset about the fact Joan just came and....I think it's fact that I didn't have the will to fight her off, and then with you at the school, she just...ordered me to draw my gun and I aimed a loaded weapon at you.' Cat tried not to remember, she didn't like the image of him threatening to shoot her.
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
He looked over at her thoughtfully for a moment, still upset with what he had done, but then pleased to talk about something less...heartbreaking.
"A Psych Major, I graduated my Psychology Class with top marks, I majored in it, it was one of my best classes. Maths and english and science are all ok, and I did good in all my classes, but Psych was my favorite, it's what I exelled in because I had such a keen interest in it." After saying that, he felt rather odd, he wasn't sure why, maybe because it sounded as if he was so proud of that, and he'd never really thought of that before. He smiled as he looked down at his hands, folded neatly within his lap, like everything about him...always neat..
"I think...I only did well because everyone didn't expect me to, and Ben had said I didn't belong in the city, he said I'd never cope with the stress and loneliness. Guess I just wanted to try harder to make them all pleased and proud, but I never imagined it'd be so lonely here. In Huxley it'd be just over 2 hours to get into town from our farm, but we where all so close, we all knew everything about everyone, and I was just 14. Here you can see the same face in the subway every day going to work, but you'll never know anything about them.." He smiled against as he looked up at her, remembering things that had happened at Xavier's though they where all like some distant dream for him.
"That's why I liked Xavier's, everyone knew everyone else, and Angela always was so keen to meet the new people, that's probably why I ended up in their circle of friends. I don't think the guys liked me though, I felt so different to them...other then being ungifted in a school for gifted people." The tone of voice he had taken on while refurring to himself as being different seemed to hint the fact he had felt left out, yet also didn't really mind. He was happy, he just wasn't sure why rude, arrogent and cruel people where considered 'popular'.
"They told us here, that Xavier's school was a breeding ground for an army designed to over throw the human race, to lead the mutants into power. When I first went there I was so nervous, I couldn't understand why they where all nice... The Initiauive made them sound like monsters, but...I'm starting to see that we're the monsters, not them." He stared back down at his hands, before frowning and looking up at Catherine with a serious and almost worried expression upon his rather hunsome features.
"Catherine, if I ever...if...if I ever try and hurt you again, I want you to fight me, you're fast, it doesn't matter how quick I can be, you're faster. I may be stronger, but strength doesn't always matter, if you could just..." He looked extremely concerned as he turned his face away from her for a moment as he thought, then looked back at her, still serious, still hoping she'd hate him enough to fight him without letting his face fool her...because he wasn't really Riley when he was under Joan's control and drugs.
"You'll have to duck a lot if you need to fight me, I do a lot of punches, and....and I swing behind me rather blindly without looking, so...I don't know...being behind me is probably the safest spot. That other chip, I said I had two, the 2nd one is placed in my heart, it...it dulls our sense of pain amongst other things, it also makes us stronger. So hurting me won't faze me as much, you'll have to just try and disable me, we wear vests that are bullet proof. So if you get a weapon, aim for the head, arms, try for the legs, I won't be able to go after you if I can't walk, please Catherine, please don't let me hurt you.." After his plea, he tore his eyes from her and pulled himself to his feet, walking towards the barrier and raising his hand slightly, having his palm hovering dangerously close to the electric field that was generated on the inside of the glass.
"A strong electric current to the body also causes a distruption to the systems of the implants.." He trailed off quietly for a moment, then slowly looked back at her, not caring if she didn't want to hear any of this or not, he wasn't sure how she'd take to hearing such things. But she needed to know...she needed to know his weaknesses so she'll be safe.
"...You could trigger my implant if you found a source of electricity strong enough, exposed wires, a hand held shocker that would be stored in the armoury... Not only mine, anyone, anyone who has an implant would be temporary disabled because of the nerological pain they'd suffer. He slowly looked away from her, staring only at the field his fingers hovered so close to, he could almost feel the current. But he continued talking, as if giving her a crash course in defeating the agents because he knew..or was worried...that something bad might happened to him...and she might left alone..
Exept that guy who fought you, Jon, he doesn't have implants yet, so I could fight him, and he can fight me...but can you take him easily, you just have to be quick, he won't be able to keep up. Right now Joan is the only one who only has a heart implant, so shocking her won't work, and she's fast, heals quicky if you give her a chance to stop fighting and simply think about healing. But you're faster, you're more agile, her punches can't hurt you if she can't land any, but more then that...she's just...cruel Catherine, but also unstable...talk with her, she'll try and make you angry...make her even more angry." Lowering his hand, he leaned against the nearby wall, his eyes staring towards the door, waiting for whoever was meant to be on watch...he wondered why they weren't keeping anyone watching over them...even if they did have cameras. He didn't like the idea of hurting her, he didn't like the idea of making her hurt him or anyone else... She was so upset after hurting Spike with the gun, he didn't want to think how upset all this would make her...
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells'A Psych Major, I graduated my Psychology Class with top marks, I majored in it, it was one of my best classes. Maths and English and science are all ok, and I did good in all my classes, but Psych was my favourite, it's what I excelled in because I had such a keen interest in it.' God ... top of his class? she'd never been top in anything though she'd competed with Bekki, Brad and Nina for the bottom spot in most subjects, they thought it would be funny and if Bekki thought it was a good idea then Cat did to. If not she'd have probably passed most of them, if she'd worked hard she might have even got reasonable grades.
Was there anything that Riley wasn't good at ... no one could be that perfect at everything ... it just wasn't normal ... he was cleverer at fourteen than she was now. But she wasn't about to admit that for all the tea in China.
'Catherine, if I ever...if...if I ever try and hurt you again, I want you to fight me, you're fast, it doesn't matter how quick I can be, you're faster. I may be stronger, but strength doesn't always matter, if you could just...' She looked at him in open horror, she didn't want to fight Riley, she wasn't even sure she could, he was much bigger and far stronger than her.
'I don't ...' But he started talking again before she could finish her sentence. Telling her his weaknesses, how she could best fight him ... was he planning on hurting her? Or were they going to put him back on those drugs again?
'Except that guy who fought you, Jon, he doesn't have implants yet, so I could fight him, and he can fight me...but can you take him easily, you just have to be quick, he won't be able to keep up' She didn't try and say anything she just sat and stared at him, for some reason she couldn't fathom she felt like crying ... she didn't want to fight him.
She didn't know what to say, or maybe it was that she just didn't have anything she wanted to say to him. So she just sat and looked at her folded legs.
Some minutes passed in awkward silence before she heard the sound of a door opening and footsteps approaching, she couldn't see who they belonged to from where she sat.
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
*Thanks* Thompson thought to the vampire, he stood, listening intently to Riley's telling Cat of his weaknesses "if you try to hurt her" he jumped in "i am bound by oath to stop you, and stop you i will" he showed no feelings of anger towards the man in the opposite cell.
he sat down again thinking through his escape plan bit more, deciding to share it with the vampire at least, he could come in handy. *my plan is simple, agents of the order have an engineered resistance to drugs, trouble is sometimes the immune system takes a while to work out what the drug is, i intend to speed up the process, then when i get out of this cell, the dart guns wont work*
he had a short pause where he thought out some more details of what he was going to do when he did get out of the cell, obviously he would have to let Cat and Riley out *then when we are all out, we head to where they are keeping my weapons, and escape* he made it all sound too easy, something told him that it wouldnt be though.
qiuckly he id an inventory of what he had on his person that he could use as a weapon, before they had come to this world they wre prepared for capture, only they had been expecting to be caught by vampires so all their emergency weapons were geared for dusting vamps. he pulled his right leg in closer to him, looking carefully at the sole of his boot, they hadnt touched it, a small smile spread across his face. carefully but using a lot of strength he twisted the heel clockwise till it clicked and came off in his hand, revealing a small compartment, he sighed dissapointed, it contained only a small bottle marked with a cross. "why do i bother" he muttered replacing the heel, not holding much hope for the other boot either.
The sound of footsteps coming closer disturbed his thoughts and boot searching, standing again he walked over to the front of the cell and peered as best he could down the corridor where the noise had come from
Once Jon was fully treated in the Medical center, they moved back down towards the detention and holding area, they had been rather quiet, mainly because one of Riley's friends was with them. Graham was assigned to watch the cells for the entire night, but the other two wanted to go meet their captives. Riley stared at Thompson as he spoke, and where some might have assumed a defenisive responce, Riley only smiled faintly...almost as if in relief..
Once the three agents entered the room, Riley's, Thompson and Spike's eyes peered towards their captors, however Joan ignored all stares exept Riley's. She stood right in front of him, looking up with an amused grin, though Riley didn't look too pleased with her. Jon had some food for the human guests, Graham held a bag of blood for the vampire, Spike glared at it before turning his eyes away and staring defiantly at the white wall.
"You know, we're seeing a lot of you in here lately.." She teased as she leaned her shoulder against the glass lazily and with a rather self important look upon her face. Riley frowned, he remembered being here, but he coudn't really remember things very clearly...his eyes slowly turned towards Jon...he did remember one thing.. His hands curled into loose fists only for a moment before they relaxed again, he didn't want to scare Catherine.. And there was nothing he could do on this side of the glass, Graham had his eyes glued down to the ground, unable to look up at see his friend in this confined state.
"Honestly Riley, what did you expect, why do you keep fighting this? This is what you've been bred to do, this is who you are.." She sounded almost mocking, Riley's eyes dropped down almost as if he was accepting defeat for some reason, she smiled as she placed a small hand held device against her lips. The silvery slim oval shaped object had a small green light blinking on it, Riley stared at it for a moment with an expression hinting he wasn't sure what it was, but he didn't like it.
"Riley man, I got you and the girl some food.." Riley looked over at his friend, then rephrased what he has said.
"Young Lady, she's a young adult." He seemed to protest to the fact of Cat being called a 'girl', because she wasn't, Riley knew that, back home she was old enough to get married. Graham cleared his throat slightly as he glanced at Catherine appologetically. Though he had a lot of guilt in his eyes, obviously not approving of all this that was going on. Joan grinned as she looked over at Cat, seeming to have to force down a chuckle.
Spike let out a growl from where he sat in his cell, still with his back against the wall, Joan turned her attention back to Riley, ignoring the vampire entirely.
"Commander Halliwell says if you're willing to accept that you went against orders and put yourself up for re-programming, then we'll let your girlie friend go." She folded her arms as if she was finding all this talk rather boring, she had something else she seemed eager to do..
"..Re-pro.." Riley paused, as his eyes peered over towards the other cell.
"What about them?" He asked in a much quieter tone, Graham glanced from one cell to the other and then at Joan and Jon before staring at the bag of blood in his hands.
"We have other plans for the animal, however the human's free to go...Halliwell would like to offer him a position in the Initiative...I hope he does decline the offer, we don't need any more of his kind." She replied with a rather smug responce, Spike didn't look happen when she called him an animal, but then looked even more upset and worried when she said they had other plans for him.
"I don't trust that you'll let her get to safty, I don't trust you Joan, and after what you had said about her Jon, I don't trust you with her safty. You just used her for your own selfish reasons once by what you had said, I'm not going to risk letting that happen again." Riley seemed rather stubborn on the fact, and all Joan could do was grin wider and clearly hold the small device in her hand out for him to see it, her finger pressing lightly on the only button.
All at once, three of the men in the room, Graham, Spike and Riley all seemed to grab at their heads, Spike letting out painful animalistic growls, Graham and Riley falling to their knees with a yell. The bag of blood fell to the floor as Graham curled down, pressing his forehead against his knees in pain, Riley shut his eyes, unlike the others, he was trying to silence his yell. He didn't want to scare Catherine by screaming in front of her, all the others standing where the ones who did not have implants in their heads.
"Really Riley...have you ever had a choice? We'll do what we want with her and if we want her to stay, she will stay, if we want her gone, she will go. You can trust that." The palm of his left hand pressed against the floor as his left hand his right grasped at the screaming pain that stabbed the side of his right head. He forced his eyes to open, then shut them tightly as Joan refused to shut off the device, letting them squirm on the floor.
"And....looky, different settings.." She grinned childishly as she pressed the button again, all three yelled out in extreme agony. Riley's left hand grabbed at his head as well, his forehead now pressed against the floor as he desperatly waited for the pain to subside.
After a moment she clicked the button once again, Graham and Spike seemed to relaxed, but Riley's chip seemed to remain active for slightly longer. After a few moments, he seems to relax slightly, then groaned loudly again as the mulfanctioning chip activated and shut off a few times, before finally stopping. He remained knelling face down on the floor, his head hidden away by his arms, before he rolled slowly onto his side facing towards Catherine with his eyes closed. As Spike began to talk, Riley's hazel eyes slowly opened, he stared almost sleepily towards Catherine, she looked so odd in his jumper.. God look at him, he hurt so much he could barely move, and his limbs felt so stiff yet wobbly and weak, why did Catherine have to see him so weak all the time... Why was she always seeing him at his worst? ...Maybe that's all that was left of him.. his eyes gently shut as his body tried to focus solely on breathing and repairing the damage done by the chip..
"...That was not bloody nice." The vampire growled at Joan, still obviously in pain, his now demonic features seen as he snarled at her. His golden eyes glared at her back, but Joan was too busy amusing herself with Catherine and Riley to pay the other creature any attention. Graham was still recovering, he hasn't ever been shocked before and the pain was entirely new and he never imagined it'd be so terrible....and to think Riley had been suffering from this for months..
"Who's hungry?" Joan called out rather happily, pleased that the new device worked well enough, this'll help keep all the agents within the area at her control...incase Riley or his kind tried anything again.
Turning her eyes towards Spike, her foot was placed beside the bag and the sweetest smile spread across her face, then with a fentle kick, the blood slides over to the glass. Spike cringed, instantly backing away from the barrier as Joan glanced at Jon, they needed to give the captives their food..
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
She glanced up ... so this was the famous Joan was it, she studied the girl's face, long blonde hair and handsome features, though Cat thought her nose looked like she'd run into a wall. She smirked slightly ... Riley man, I got you and the girl some food ... did they actually expect her to eat that? after she'd just been informed they put god knows what in the meals they fed people here. But she was hungry and thirsty, horribly thirsty come to think of it.
'Young Lady, she's a young adult.' She looked incredulously at Riley, he thought she was a lady? he must be madder than she'd imagined, though it was nice to hear someone say that about her ... but then Riley considered every woman to be a lady didn't he?
It was then that Cat noticed him, standing a little back from the others what was he doing here!! Maybe Jon had come to take her home, her heart leapt a little, home ... Washington.
'Jon!.' She exclaimed, not noticing the look upon his face for a moment, she frowned when she did.
'Catherine.' He stepped forwards towards the glass, his eyes upon her legs in the tight fitting combat suit she was wearing.
'Commander Halliwell says if you're willing to accept that you went against orders and put yourself up for re-programming, then we'll let your girlie friend go.' re-programming, what was that? it didn't sound good in her estimation, but her attention was still on the initiative’s latest recruitment.
'I don't trust that you'll let her get to safety, I don't trust you Joan, and after what you had said about her Jon, I don't trust you with her safety. You just used her for your own selfish reasons once by what you had said, I'm not going to risk letting that happen again.' Now that did get her attention ... what had he told Riley? Oh god not that they'd had sex ... anything but that, she'd never told anyone. She didn't want Riley to know, what would he think of her, he seemed all for meaningful relationships.
'What did you tell him?' She asked angrily but with growing concern and anxiety. He gave her a smirk that said it all, she looked away, feeling the sting of tears in her eyes ... she was nothing better than a slut.
Out of the corner of her eyes she saw Joan clicking a small device held in her outstretched hand then a second later watched Spike, an initiative operative and Riley all fall to their knees clutching at their heads in agony. It took her a second to realise it must be something to do with the chips they had implanted in their heads. She scrambled hurriedly to her feet eyeing Riley warily
'Stop it!!' She said her quick tongue lashing out at the woman on the other side of the barrier. 'Your hurting him, stop it!!' But Joan just notched the setting up slightly and grinned.
Cat glared at her and knelt down swiftly next to Riley, her hands reaching out for his shoulders, suddenly feeling very protective over him, this woman shouldn't be allowed to hurt him like this. Her small hands tentatively touched him, her fingers stroking over the material of his t-shirt. Why couldn't she comfort people properly, she just never knew what to do.
As Joan clicked the device again he seemed to relax and roll over her hands slipping from his shoulders. He half opened his eyes for a moment then let them close again ... what had Joan done to him, he'd been fine not thirty seconds ago. She tentatively picked up his left hand, which was lying by her knee with both her small one's.
Her eyes swooped upwards to glare at the operative with the device, she didn't need to speak her look said it all, her shoulders were trembling in anger, how dare she do this to him!
She hadn't noticed the marks on Jon's neck yet since his body was turned at an angle at which she couldn't see them, though it wouldn't be long till she did.
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
It was odd, her touch stroking against his shoulder, almost as if she worried over him... but was that him just hoping or was she really worried? The tender, almost soothingly comforting, grasp of Catherine's delicate hands had taken him by surprise, he didn't understand her...sometimes she was so caring, other times she seemed so cruel. He was sure her cold exterior was simply a mask to hide her more caring side, he was sure there was something warm hiding under that mask....he keeps seeing glimpses of it..
His eyes flickered open, but the light was hurting his eyes and making the headache even worse, he wasn't like a vampire, he didn't heal quickly and he wasn't as good with the pain. Poor Graham had leaned his back against the wall and held his head in his hands as he waited for the pain to dull enough for the room to stop spinning so badly. Spikes attention however had drifted over to that demon who was beside Cat and Riley's cell, he was mumbling something, staring at Jon with his hand pressed against the wall dividing his cell and the other two humans. Spike's head tilted slightly as he crept towards the barrier and tried to hear what the creature was mumbling about...he realized then it wasn't a demon...it was a soul, it was all glowing, when he looked properly he could see the soul....there was only a soul...nothing else..
"..Nothing happened...nothing's there...resting, all resting, her memories are hurting her, her memories are wrong.." The soulled creature stared at the wall Catherine had been leaning against in the corner before, then over at Jon, Draven was a creature of revenge...this is what he was returned to do...to revenge those who have been wronged. His pale face was marked with odd black markings on his eyes, he placed his hand on the wall.. He could her soul on the other side, and the boy's, he could see into their souls, their memories...into their past, their future, their present....
Spike frowned, barely able to hear the mumbles but just making them out, he stared towards Jon and then Catherine, he wanted to call for Cat to see what that thing was trying to tell her, he wasn't sure if she could hear him with all her worries..
I'm sure she wont be too impressed, she always does what I tell her to. She is alone Riley, her friends want nothing more to do with her ... you think she's gonna stay at your stupid school I think not.' Riley's hand gently, almost unnoticed by his light touch, squeezes her hand as if he wanted to get her attention, he felt stronger with her holding him, even if it as only his hand.. No one's ever stood up for him before...it seemed alien..yet...comforting..
His eyes looked up at her, he wanted to sit up, but he couldn't move, he felt so ...useless... but Jon was wrong, he could see who Catherine was. It didn't matter what she had done in the past, it was choices now that made a person, not the mistakes of their past. And he wasn't sure if Catherine knew that...he wasn't sure if Catherine ever gave herself the chance she needed to really discover who she was..
"You're strong enough to make your own choices on what to do and who to be, you're smart enough to know you have friends who will do anything for you...Lisa, Dawn, Angela, all of them..." He Whispered, almost as if he didn't want the others to hear, he was so keen for her to see what he could see when he looked at her. Joan's attentions where off at the security desk, putting in her codes so Jon could get the trays of food into the feeding slots.
"...He said you're alone, that you can't make friends, but you're not alone, because you have so much, you have friends who'll do anything for you, teachers who want to help you learn...people who want to be there for you, to help, to care...to love, if you give them the chance. And if you don't see any of that, if you can't see what I see inside of you, then....just have faith I know it's there until you discover it for yourself." His other arm tried to push himself up, but he failed, resulting in simply twisting his body about, his chest pressed down against the floor as his head turned and rested down against the floor.
"You can't let him hurt you again Catherine, because you're better then him...you're just afraid to show yourself, but I've seen glimpses of the real you. Why do you think I was so desperate to go to another world for you, why do you think I'm in here with you? Because you're special, and I care about that, I care about you...just like all your friends back at the school... And he can't take that away from you...not unless you let him." The young man seemed unable to raise his voice, he was stuck in a calm, and assured yet quiet whisper, his energy just too drained.. There was so much he wanted to tell her...so much he wanted her to know, but there was just too much, and what reasons did she had to even believe him? I care about you... He hoped he didn't have too much fondness in his voice when he had said that, he did try and cover it up, but...he really did care about her..
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
She could hear murmurs from the other side of the wall but chose to ignore them in her worry over Riley, Joan had hurt him, he didn't seem able to move though his eyes looked up at her. She felt him squeeze her hand even though he already had all her attention.
'And if you don't see any of that, if you can't see what I see inside of you, then....just have faith I know it's there until you discover it for yourself.' She tilted her head to the side ... what was he talking about? ... what did he see in her? She was sure whatever it was that it was wrong he didn't know her, he didn't know what she was really like, he'd only been around her for a few hours ... and even then she'd yelled at him.
'What do you s...?' She questioned eager to see the Cat he saw for a moment, seeing him try to get up, her muscles seemed too stiff for him to manage.
'Know what he should see?.' Jon said stepping up to the glass a smirk upon his face, she wondered for a second why he looked like that then he continued speaking. 'A girl who takes pleasure in other people's pain.' He knew exactly what buttons to press to hurt her. 'Who takes pleasure in splitting people up, in lying even to her best friend.' Why was he being so hurtful? she couldn't bring herself to look up at him, why was he saying all this? She didn't want Riley to know not after what he'd just said. 'In stealing.' She was almost clinging onto Riley's hand her eyes staring at the ground, her knuckles white. He'd said he cared, someone had actually said they cared about her and Jon was taking it away from her. He'd hate her now or even worse he'd pity her, she didn't know he already knew all this. 'The girl who was the cause of her parents deaths.' She looked for a second like she'd been slapped ... no one had ever told her she'd killed them, she couldn't help feeling guilty for it but no one had ever stood there and called her a murderer. She could feel her heart splintering into shards in her chest, her eyes filling with tears. She hadn't meant for it to happen ... she hadn't planned it. She let go of his hand suddenly and scrambled quickly to the furthest corner she could get from Jon and hunching up here, her hands caught up in Riley's t-shirt pressed over her delicate ears, trying to ignore him as he continued to torment her through the glass. She muttering something under her breath, almost so quiet it couldn't be heard even if you were sitting right up close to her, she head shaking slightly from side to side.
'I'm sorry, God I'm so sorry, I'm sorry ... sorry ... sorry.'
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells'Know what he should see?' The voice was like poison, Riley just wanted to tell Catherine not to listen, but his words got all caught up in his throat and Jon talked so cruelly.
'A girl who takes pleasure in other people's pain.' No...he didn't want Catherine to listen to that, she had helped him before, she keeps helping him, he does stupid things to her and she keeps helping him.. She doesn't enjoy causing pain... she regrates it if she hurts someone...he could see that.. why couldn't she see it?
'Who takes pleasure in splitting people up, in lying even to her best friend.' The fact Jon was taunting her about it only assured Riley that it was over something that she despised herself for having done.
'In stealing.' Her hands grasped his hand so tightly, was she scared? He didn't care what Jon said, he didn't care about her past...he only cared about her now, about what she's done and how she's changed.
'The girl who was the cause of her parents deaths.' Riley wasn't sure if he was suffering a side effect of the drugs or something emotional, because he got a twisting knot in the pit of his stomach that almost made him sick with anger.. He had to get up...this is what he was trained for, acting under pain and stress, doing what needs to be done...helping those that need his help..
He forced his hips to roll over and became lined with the rest of his upper body that was pressed belly down into the floor, his arms placed on either side of his head. After a moment his arms press hard down into the ground, his right knee curling up underneath him in order to support his weight that seemed far more heavier then normal. His eyes glared at Jon for a moment, if he ever got out of this cell, if he ever could get his hands on that boy... Just for once, he'd be so glade to knock him out cold..
He seemed weakly stable on his knees and hands, before sitting back and staring dizzily at the ceiling for a moment as took in a deep breath. Turning around, he dragged himself clumsily to his feet and moved the few feet towards Catherine, his hand reaching for the wall and his knees buckling so he could knell down right beside her as best he could since she was in a corner. The Agent stared at her for a moment, his hand at first slowly reaching out for her, then gently both his arms wrapped comfortingly around her heartbroken body. His arms pulled her lightly into his embrace, gently resting his head against hers as if in an effort to stop her shaking her head.
"..He can't take us away from you unless you let him Catherine, you have to fight for this, fight for us, fight so we can have you. Don't let him take away the love your parents had for you and the love you still have for them...don't let him take that away." Riley's eyes had closed, still trying to shake away the groggy pain that drifted about his head, but Catherine was more important then that...she was more important then any thing. He held her, he's never held Claire like this before, Catherine was so tender, delicate and sweet, soft and fragile...he was afraid he'd hurt her... But she was also so strong, and braver then she let herself believe, smarter then she'd allow herself to be, kinder then she allowed herself to show..
"I see who you're hiding Catherine...and I've never met someone so kind before.." He whispered quietly just so she could hear...not letting her go, yet not forcing his arms around her, keeping them firm, yet easily able for her to break away. Why was it hurting him so much? ..Why was Jon making him so angry... Why didn't Catherine see how wonderful she was..
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
She couldn't hear Riley move towards her, she wasn't crying her eyes were full of bright tears but they didn't seem to want to fall, she realised it was because she didn't want them to, she didn't want Jon to see her crying ... was this really the man who had found her about to slit her wrists, stopped her and told her how much she had to live for? He seemed completely different … where had he gone, she didn’t like this cold hearted man who had replaced him.
She felt him touch her, felt him slide his arms around her, felt him gently pull her against him, felt his head press against the side of hers. Her eyes opened in surprise ... what was he doing? but he didn't demand anything from her, just knelt there and held her.
Cat let her hands slip from her ears and as she did she heard Jon's angry exclamation ...
'Hey get off her!' That man wasn't allowed to put his hands around Catherine like that, he wasn't allowed to comfort her, he smashed both his palms into the glass angrily but the pair of them didn't seem to notice ... Cat was going to pay for this big time later. He turned away before she actually responded to his hug.
Why did her heart suddenly not hurt as much? Why did he want to touch her? After what Jon had just said he still wanted to associate himself with her, she didn't understand. She didn't say anything but she let her head turn so her forehead was pressed against his warm chest, feeling the beat of his heart through this bone, muscle and sinew, she could feel it beating through her own skin.
'He can't take us away from you unless you let him Catherine, you have to fight for this, fight for us, fight so we can have you. Don't let him take away the love your parents had for you and the love you still have for them...don't let him take that away.' Fight for us? ... there was an us ... she wondered what that was, she didn't like Riley ... did she? He trying to be friendly, they could be friends right? for a half a second she wondered if she wanted him to go on holding her like this ... what would she do when he let her go?
She'd never really picked out anyone she liked before, not someone she wanted to date, she'd always been steered towards the sort of them she "should" be dating. Now she didn't really know what she was feeling and she didn't know why she was slowly putting her arms around his waist.
This was nice ... she remembered this ... from Lost Angels.
'Maybe it's because she has a knife inside of me and she keeps twisting it, and how you do you know I don't hurt people? You don't know anything about me, you think I carry a gun to show people how shiny it is? She has two guns on her right now, one in each pocket, we turn our backs on her, is she going to shoot us?' She was being stupid Riley was just pitying her, he didn't like her really he'd shouted at her.
'you obviously like hurting people.' She scrunched her eyes up against him, she didn't like it, it just made her feel better ... like she didn't have to suffer alone.
'I see who you're hiding Catherine...and I've never met someone so kind before..' She was hiding someone? she was just Cat nobody else. She didn't want to speak incase she broke whatever spell seemed to come over her at his touch, why didn't it hurt that much when he held her?
'I'm not hiding anyone.' She said, he seemed to have brought her back from whatever dark place her thoughts had been taking her.
Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells
It took all his strength to keep breathing steadily, not wanting her forehead to feel the beating of his heart slightly increase, not wanting her to sense how important her touch was becoming to him.. Part of him was wondering if he should pull away, if she was growing uncomfortable and would began yelling if he remained like this, opening his eyes he stared down at her soft hair. ..But while he was struggling with the thought of losing her, he could feel her hands stroke against his lower ribs as she slowly placed her arms around his waist. His eyes slowly shut once again, it was something warm was him, he wasn't sure what to do...pull her closer, let her go, hold her longer...
'I'm not hiding anyone.' Did she really believe that? Couldn't she see how she would lock a part of herself away, hiding it behind the cold exterior that she thinks will protect her from being hurt again...from letting anyone close.
"...You hide from yourself Catherine, you hide who you really are so you don't get hurt, but I can see you, the worry when someone’s in pain, the way you help, even if you don't like or trust the person." At first he sounded almost hesitant, as if he was afraid to begin talking, but then his words became more clear and thought out. His arms still holding her, his cheek resting gently atop her head as he continued talking to her.. Trying to tell her what he has seen in just the short time he's known of her, trying to help her understand what it was that he knew about her..
"Catherine, you do things for others, that sometimes go against what you really want, you put aside your own feelings and thoughts to help. You stayed at the school when you wanted to leave just to look out for a person you barely knew. And now you're part of that family because you stayed, even though you didn't trust mutants, you where willing to give them a chance. You helped me, again, you just keep helping me no matter what terrible things you've seen me do to you..." The slightest moment, it almost sounded as if his words where spoken in admiration, the way his voice was so certain, yet unsure of why she'd do such thing, yet admiring her for the fact she has done them. Jon's words echoed in his mind once again, about how he used her, how he moulded her and how he controlled her. He was afraid to let her go...why was he afraid? ...Was it because he was worried he'd never hold her like this again... because that was just selfish, if he was making her uncomfortable he should pull away.. But was he? He wasn't sure... he was distracted by everything happening inside of him simply because he held her, the knots in his stomach, the way it has that tingle..
"You're never suffering alone Catherine, because you're never alone, you have others, even if they aren't with you, they'll always be worrying over you.." The whisper was barely heard, almost as if he was losing his voice, he wished he could say something...anything about how he would always want to help share her pain but.. How could he? 2 hours ago he couldn't even recognise her..
"Catherine...when we say we care about you, it's not because we want something from you, it's not because we pity you or think you need our friendship. It's because we want to be your friends, it's because we see how special you are and we want to be part of that...we just want to be there for you." Riley's words where softly spoken, as if he was trying to assure her of their intentions, as if he knew something that made him need her to know how important she was to him and the others.
Joan had raised her eye when Jon had blurted out for Riley to get away from Cat, as Riley had talked, Joan's fingers fiddled with the implant trigger device. But before she could offer to give Jon some playtime with the trigger device, the Cell room doors slid open and some agents filed in. Five agents where lead in by another two with weapons, held out in plain view, though lowered by their side. Three guys, two girls, all lead towards the door of the re-programming room, Riley's head gently turned to watch them walk past the cell. All of them threw Riley surprised yet worried glances, but none spoke, the two guards ordered them to sit and then each moved to stand before the two doors, the exit and the entrance to the other room.
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
'You hide from yourself Catherine, you hide who you really are so you don't get hurt, but I can see you, the worry when someone’s in pain, the way you help, even if you don't like or trust the person.' It was nice that someone thought this about her .. nice that Riley thought this about her. She wasn't sure why he wanted to hold her, maybe he thought it would make her feel better.
'You helped me, again, you just keep helping me no matter what terrible things you've seen me do to you.' She shook her head against him slightly, he didn't understand. He seemed so sure of himself as he talked, did that mean what he was saying was right
'It wasn't your fault, you were drugged, you didn't recognise me, you were just following orders.' She said going overboard suggesting excuses for his actions. Why was she making excuses for him, she didn't like Riley, but then why was her heart racing in her chest at the feel of his chin upon the top of her head, his warm arms holding her against him.
She heard the sound of the main door opening and then footsteps passing their cell, she didn't give them much notice, how could she when Riley's arms encircled her. But something deep in her was sending out warning signals like something bad was about to happen.

Re: The Initiative Holding Cells"..They don't work any more Catherine, not for me...the excuses don't take away the pain over what I've done." The female agent stood in front of the cell barrier; tapping a plastic card she got from a bag left on the desk, on the glass almost teasingly.
"What do you think of this name Riley...Marc Lucas? It's what they have on you're new I.D card, well at least you're not this Johnny Jones, ha..poor Steve.." Her mockery caused Riley to stroke his cheek across the top of Cat's silky soft hair as he turned his face away from the barrier. Was he afraid? He felt afraid...but...he was more afraid of leaving Catherine alone with Jon and Joan right now, he didn't want to go...he didn't want to let go of her..
The other agents seemed rather dazed and tired, their heads drooping to the side onto the shoulders of the person next to them or slumped forward. It wasn't long before the trays of food and been slipped into the cells, plus Spikes bag of blood the vampire seemed to ignore the bag and remain sitting in the corner with his eyes closed.
"You can either eat the food Riley, or we'll just give you a needle, totally your choice." Riley stared at the two trays before then, slowly, hesitantly, slipping his arms away from Catherine and reaching for the bowl of green salad, glass of water and bowl of chicken & Corn soup. He frowned, taking Catherine's bowl of salad and then pouring his water into it, tipping the access water out, rinsing it of any drugging effects before handing it to her.
"You can have my salad as well, the soup isn't good." He offered, rinsing his salad with the rest of his water and placing the bowl in front of her, not wanting her to eat the drugged soup, but not wanting her to starve either. After that, his hand reached for the soup on his tray, picking up the spoon and leaning back against the wall, the spoon twirling the contents as his eyes studied it. He didn't want another needle, he would overly pleased if he never saw another needle in his life again. He didn't want to eat it, he did terrible things when he was drugged...though...this was a knock out drug so he wasn't going to really be a threat to her..
"...Catherine.. I don't want to have another needle.." He stirred the soup once more...as if worried there was something in there that needed to be mixed into the soup completely to get rid of the taste. His eyes remained focused on the bowl, ignoring as Joan handed the other agents their new I.D cards, slipping them into their pockets. Slowly, and soundlessly, Riley began consuming the drugged soup, there was slightly bitter taste swimming around in his mouth with every silent swallow. His spoon didn't even clank against the bowl as he ate, and when he finished, he let out a slightly shaky breath, as he placed the bowl back on the tray. He was going to move away, leave her some space, but part of him screamed for him to stay put. He turned his head towards Catherine again, he seemed alright still, except when he blinked, there was a slight pause and his eyes would remain closed for a moment longer then normal.
"May I...may I just sit next to you until I fall asleep? Would you mind...if I just stay next to you so I'm not alone..." His eyes stared down at her shoulder, as if he forget where her eyes where, not wanting her to see the uncertainty in his eyes.. But then he blinked slowly before sighing slightly as he closed his eyes and let his head tilt forward slightly as he felt the faintest hint of drowsiness falling upon him.
"I don't want to be alone when I die again...when I stop being Riley Finn for the last time...I keep dying Catherine...and I haven't had the chance to live yet.." With a sad whisper, he then looked over towards the other agents who where all dozing off...that'd be him soon, but he won't wake up...not as himself...but then again, he hasn't been Riley Finn for a very long time.. His handsome eyes stared rather blankly towards the cell across from them, his lips parting slightly as he breathed before his head leaned back against wall with another sigh escaping his lungs..
Riley: So, tell me about your dream. As a Psych major, I'm qualified to go 'hmm.'
Re: The Initiative Holding Cells'What do you think of this name Riley...Marc Lucas? It's what they have on you're new I.D card, well at least you're not this Johnny Jones, ha..poor Steve...' her eyes opened against his chest, what did they mean? ... and then it dawned upon her they were going to do what they'd done to that guy ... Graham had it been? ... his brother, they were going to give him a new life. He'd forget everything, everyone, her all over again and this time she wouldn't be able to get him back. She closed her arms tighter about him, pulling their bodies closer.
'You can either eat the food Riley, or we'll just give you a needle, totally your choice.' she tried to hold onto him but he was slipping his arms from around her waist, he was moving away from her towards the food. She blinked, feeling suddenly empty since he'd let go of her, surely this was all just a bad dream, they couldn't take him away again, not like this, not now.
'You can have my salad as well, the soup isn't good.' She watched him hold the bowl out towards her, making no effort to take it, she suddenly wasn't hungry anymore. Watching him stir the drugged contents of the bowl with a growing mixture of emotions, she wanted to knock the bowl from his hands, but she didn't want to see him injected.
So she watched helplessly as he consumed the contents, her eyes sad.
'May I...may I just sit next to you until I fall asleep? Would you mind...if I just stay next to you so I'm. I don't want to be alone when I die again...when I stop being Riley Finn for the last time...I keep dying Catherine...and I haven't had the chance to live yet...' She moved to sit companiably next to him, her shoulder pressed against his, she didn't want to cry, she didn't want the last time he saw her for her to be in tears. She reached down and picked up his hand, refusing to acknowledge the other agents outside the, running her thumb almost thoughtfully over the back of his hand. She hated it here, and she hated the initiative and she hated Jon and she hated Joan and she hated Riley for letting them do this to him.
