Re: Exiles Dorm: Déjà-vu (ALL TEAM MEMBERS)
"I’m not cooking.." It was the first of a few statements that followed, and while Frost usually managed to get people talking she didn't always get the chance to start actual discussions in groups, she was good one on one with people she tolerated but when it came to groups Frost wasn't usually one to be relied on to do more then throw in a random statement or another. Usually her opinions or displeased comments or the obvious thrown into everyone's faces. Never really the best icebreaker that's for sure.

"If I have to, I’ll do other things… but I’m not going to cook" Fair enough, considering Frost's inability to use the hot stove for health reasons, she was hardly going to ask people for the reasons that can't or won't cook. If they can't or won't, they'll just have to do something else instead, and since Racheal offered just that, Anna found herself still quite content with the other girl's refusal to cook. An almost amused smile curved Frost's lips as she watched the feral that little more, long enough to decide she was hardly the big tough act she was letting on, but still had her rough edges if pushed. Made things interesting and unpredictable, unlike Garnet and Max, whom Frost felt were simple to read and a bore to be around.

"Ditto. I'm not cooking either unless you guys are keen on Mac and Cheese 24/7," The other girl, who's appearence, or more also her facial expressions at times made her seem younger then she really was. Though before Anna had much thought given towards the idea of eating Mac and Cheese, a male voice cut through the group to add his own comment. "I can cook," that didn't say much, Anna could cook.. just.. she couldn't cook over an open flame, and some people were so dense they didn't think and Frost's opinion was most of them would be like 'hmmm, Ice chic, make us a roast dinner, stand in front of radiating heat for hours. We cooked last night.' Best thing this lot would get on Frosts nights IF she had to prepare something was salades and cold served food. What's a bet no one would care to think about her special diets? If she had to eat, she'd most likely not be eating what they ate, not unless she was eating when half of them had finished while waiting for her food to cool down.

“I can cook, though I might be a little rusty. I haven’t had to for a while.” At last! A cook. But Frost knew that he'd not like nor would it be fair to have him cook for them every night, so... as long as he took turns with Garnet Frost didn't mind. The ice elemental wasn't even going to assume Max had any sort of skills, spoilt brat syndrome tended to leave her to feel impressed he could even dress himself in the morning.

"Yes, we will have to split chores and if those able to cook do not mind, I would suggest they take over that part for the time being. Maybe we could form two small groups with one person each showing the others some basics every now and then." Salads, sandwiches, all that sort of stuff was down to a fine art as far as Frost's skills went, she could serve a lunch to fit any occasion, because she liked food and yet was limited, and strived to made do with all she had. But that's just that... lunches weren't very good dinners.

"That would ultimately make the task sharing fairer and, well, at some point we will probably all need to be able to do it anyway." Now, Frost could be difficult or easy as far as offering to cook went, she could explain things, or she could wait patiently and see if anyone had half a brain in their hollow heads to realize the fact of her situation. "Whoever is up for it, that is... otherwise there are plenty of other things that need doing." Sometimes... ok, most of the times.. Frost got a little too impatient with Garnet, and it seemed like the other girl just prattled on and on. Sure, new environment, new tasks, all that.. but hearing her voice just not end irritated Frost, their precious leader thought she was so good and up there with the best and most powerful. Garnet was damn strong, Frost admitted that, but she was also damn reckless in the ice mutants eyes and the severe polar ends the two young woman stood on meant that Frost had a hard enough time dealing with the girl without that arrogence she so clearly displayed when using her powers. Everyone had arrogence, not everything got on Frosts begrudged for eternity list... despite how it may seem at times.

"The common rooms have to be cleaned every now and then. Everybody is of course responsible for their own rooms; it is your decision how tidy they will be, but I would like people to be able to walk in them without risking choking or getting lost, please." Their own to do with as they pleased? Frost sculptures anyone? Well, a bucket of fresh Anna-made ice and a cool strong fan ought to keep the room cool enough for comfort, she'd deal with the warm air in the rest of the place. Not that it was killing her, but more comfort was found in cooler environments and if it was her room then Anna was going to make sure she was damn well comfortable in it.

"Any comments on that, or other questions?" Taking the chance to go check out her room and flop on her bed was really all that Anna wanted to do right now. So she hoped, against all logical hope, that their leader just might have the strength of will to stop speaking, regardless of how much she liked the sound of her own voice. "We can always discuss the details after everybody has moved in... that would be more comfortable than doing it standing in the hallway anyway." She wasn't stopping!! The ice powered mutant turned about and moved towards the direction of the rooms, her interest was one of the further away bed rooms.

"Before our ears start bleeding it would be nice if there was a break in all this chit chat, I must admit." The offhand comment was spoken casually, almost as if she felt all was covered and that for now she was too bored to deal with anymore questions. There was permission to leave, and as far as Anna cared, she was going to take it whether it was a question or not.

Re: Exiles Dorm: Déjà-vu (ALL TEAM MEMBERS)
As a further refusal came, Racheal let a slow breath escape her in relief. It seemed like most had taken it as a complete refusal. Of course, it would have been if the feral mutant had known that it was a gas oven, which meant an open flame. But she would prefer to look like a stubborn girl who wouldn’t cook, rather than revealing herself as a non-cook, and possibly having to face the next questions. The last thing she wanted was people knowing she was homeless, that she had nowhere to go outside these walls. Except the streets, and they were not forgiving.

It was probably a good thing Rachael couldn’t see the developing irony. Two of the guys, Jess and Nick, had both said they could, and hopefully – more so in Jess’ case, merely because she was starting to see with him, there was a distinct difference between could and would – would actually prepare meals for them. It seemed that, perhaps, the woman’s place really wasn’t in the kitchen anymore.

"Yes, we will have to split chores and if those able to cook do not mind, I would suggest they take over that part for the time being. Maybe we could form two small groups with one person each showing the others some basics every now and then." Learning to cook… she didn’t mind that idea too much. Though, saying that… she had no intention of staying around too long. But… perhaps someone could show her the basics. Though she knew it would all go down hill with the wrong teacher. Still, it was something that might be worth trying. It could be a talent she had… or at least a skill useful even on the streets.

"That would ultimately make the task sharing fairer and, well, at some point we will probably all need to be able to do it anyway." That was a very good point, well… both of them were. It surprised the feral mutant to think she was actually agreeing with Garnet. Worryingly that tended to happen more often with Max… indirectly at least. They might have the same opinion on something, but completely different solutions. But it seemed like a good idea… the one problem being that this was the Exiles. And such social… interactions were most likely going to lead to more conflict than actually learning anything. There didn’t seem to be a logical way of dividing the group which would stop someone being near someone that they couldn’t… or wouldn’t get on with.

"Whoever is up for it, that is... otherwise there are plenty of other things that need doing." Something hit Racheal as the other spoke now. Was Garnet trying to be diplomatic? It didn’t even strike her that the words came because of her. Because of her fear of fire. She barely realised she was one of those furthest from the fire mutant. Perhaps it was unreasonable, but it was something the mentally scarred mutant just couldn’t shake, those memories of her family… that silent blame she’d placed on herself, her brother had placed on her. They had been infants, barely capable of caring for themselves yet alone saving their family. And yet the blame was there.

"The common rooms have to be cleaned every now and then. Everybody is of course responsible for their own rooms; it is your decision how tidy they will be, but I would like people to be able to walk in them without risking choking or getting lost, please." Racheal had seen other rooms, decorated with posters, filled with what seemed to be normal living items. No doubt these people around her would leave and return with more items. Whereas herself.. she had all her belongings in the small bag on her back. Her room would be very minimalist.. and then empty. She would leave as soon as she was healthy enough. Perhaps she would start training tonight. That would be ideal.

"Any comments on that, or other questions?" … "We can always discuss the details after everybody has moved in... that would be more comfortable than doing it standing in the hallway anyway." Getting on with everything else… or more to the point getting away from this was a nice plan right now. She had nothing really to sort out in her room, so she could just hide in her room. She’d be happy as long as it had a window. It could be the closet if only for a window. That way she could take flight and escape when she wanted. Yes… she’d be happy to leave further details until later. And it seemed that she wasn’t the only one. Though in the Exiles that wasn’t so unusual.

"Before our ears start bleeding it would be nice if there was a break in all this chit chat, I must admit." She wasn’t quite sure what the icy mutant meant by that, but it was true that a break would be a good thing. She didn’t expect much, and she guessed that as much as possible people would avoid each other. It was a shame joint dinners were required, though a dark thought crossed her mind. Enough fights at the table might encourage a lift on that simple thing. Rachael didn’t eat much and hated eating in front of others most of the time anyway, so she might just skip the occasional meal. What were they going to do? Throw her out? She was leaving anyway!

A shrug was given slowly before the feral nodded her agreement slowly. She had nothing left to say, and felt she’d already said far to much. She just wanted to escape. There was a glint in her eyes, a slight shift. She wanted a proper escape, but she kept a hold on that desire. For now at least.

Re: Exiles Dorm: Déjà-vu (ALL TEAM MEMBERS)
With the majority of the team unwilling or unable to cook for assorted reasons, none of which he cared to know, Jess had a feeling that his reluctant could was becoming a grudging but neccessary would. Although there had not often been food aside from microwave dinners and cheap fast food in the house Jess had still found a way to learn, for a time he had actually been interested in food. Now he was hardly interested in anything, least of all listening to Garnet continue to talk at them.

"Yes, we will have to split chores and if those able to cook do not mind, I would suggest they take over that part for the time being. Maybe we could form two small groups with one person each showing the others some basics every now and then."

Since the only other offer of culinary help had been from the other guy who wasn't Max, Jess supposed that the 'do not mind' was aimed at him. He did mind but, much like joining the team in the first place, the New Yorker had a feeling that all diplomacy was strictly for appearances. Jess' powers allowed him to fight this if he so chose but it would be a hassle and he knew that he would have to compromise at somepoint so he gave in.

What he minded more than the cooking itself was the horrifying notion of teaching another being. He didn't look or sound like Emeril but apparently this was yet another situation he had no control over. Feeling trapped Jess slumped against the wall in resignation.

It didn't help that brunette Barbie was ploughing on full steam ahead in her mindless lecture that, judging from the expressions on the faces of his new team-mates, no one wanted to hear. She went on to talk about other chores in need of doing while Fred silently pondered whether the girl who burned popcorn and toast all the time could really learn to cook worth a d@mn.

With the mention of their own rooms Jess remembered that there would be privacy in this little orb of communism. A room to do with what he would. He wondered how loud he could get away with blaring his music before Barbie told him off or the tribal council voted him out. He also thought, as their leader wrapped up and Frost offered comment, that following the blonde to the bedrooms was looking better and better as far as ideas went. It was about time to stake claim and effectively become a hermit any time now.

Jess really hoped that no one would be stupid enough to risk their life by asking another question, life risking because he thought he might strangle someone if they kept him here any longer.

"Call me Chef Boyardee," Jess tossed off, with an accompanying glower that suggested they had better not but did, in his limited words way, settle the matter of whether or not he would be willing to cook. With that settled and no more questions, he hoped, to follow, he proceeded to follow the frost mutant towards the bedrooms, assuming that Circe and the others would take the hint and follow suit.
