Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room
"Catherine.. I.. I need to talk with you please." She'd heard the footsteps coming down the corridor, stopping outisde her room. She'd propped her body up with one hand, hardly daring to let herself believe that it was his footsteps, yet she knew the sound of his feet.
She slid her body off the bed wondering if he'd found the photo, scared for a second that he knew it was from her, what was he going to say ....
Or maybe .. perhaps he'd remembered something, anything even if it was just something stupid like how old he was ... it made her wonder, exactly how old was he? She loved him, she'd slept with him but she didn't even know something as simple as that. What if he was a lot older than her, he could have been anywhere between twenty and twenth five so he could be seven years older than her ... but would he think it made any difference, that was if he ever remembered her.
It must be important whatever it was since he was missing class at the moment to come here, she spotted the selotape still out on the side and made a detour on the way to the door in order to put it back in the draw.
'Whats wrong Riley?' She said looking out at him and stepping aside so he could come in if he wanted, her room was very neat and tidy, only the bed was rumbled up from her sleeping on it but if you looked properly you'd have seen it was because she didn't have any posessions in it. Her holdall still sat next to her bed, she hadn't even bothered unpacking since she hadn't been expecting to stay and apart from that, Fred and a personal CD player she didn't actaully have anything else to fill the room with. She looked around nervously as he stepped inside, as if expecting something to be out of place, which was strange since she usually had no problem with being messy. She'd only had a small room where she used to live and she'd had to leave most her things behind her.

Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room"It's jus-...it's just that.." He hesitated as he stepped into the room, both the palms of his hands rubbing his painfully tired eyes. It wasn't fair really, he just wanted to be normal and now it seemed he was in danger because he didn't have any special powers.. assuming the mutants would attack him right away.
"Why doesn't Lisa know about me? No one knows about me, I don't know about me, they don't know about me, the only one who knows anything about me is you and you're not telling any one." His eyes drifted across her room before turning around and staring down at her, it was obvious that he had very little, if any, sleep at all. Why wouldn't she tell anyone about what had happened to her, maybe she hadn't had the time..
"She said you where abducted! And then she said you ended up in Huxely somehow.. and then she didn't seem to understand anything I told her, I felt like an idiot and they all where watching, they didn't have a right to stare.. it's not my fault they don't know." Added rather upset over the fact of the prying students, even if they where in the kitchen, he shut his eyes for a moment, he really wished he hadn't left his bed this morning. Then none of the terrible things would have happened, the boy wouldn't have teased him, Lisa wouldn't have gotten upset...
"...I don't like how this day has began Catherine, I couldn't sleep, then I had one guy calling me brain damaged, I'm starving but I couldn't eat breakfast. Lisa yelled at me because she was confused and then she walked off because she couldn't understand what I was saying and was upset, but I didn't understand what she was saying, I didn't know she didn't know about the Initiative.. I didn't know.. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do here." Even Riley didn't know about the intiative, he only knew what little Cat has told him about it and what he saw while running away from gunfire. He was upset because all these terrible things where happening and Catherine wasn't there to help him, she wasn't there like she had promised him she would be.. she said she wouldn't leave him, and she left him alone with all that.
Riley (about Catherine): ...I have the feeling she's trying to tell me something..
every single time she looks at me.. she's trying to speak to me.. and I can't hear her.
Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room"Why doesn't Lisa know about me? No one knows about me, I don't know about me, they don't know about me, the only one who knows anything about me is you and you're not telling any one." What was she supposed to say, she couldn't tell them, she'd be putting them in danger, all of them, she didn't want anyone else getting hurt. Look at what the initiative had done to her once she'd stumbled across them, she really didn't want that happening to any of her friends here.
"She said you where abducted! And then she said you ended up in Huxely somehow.. and then she didn't seem to understand anything I told her, I felt like an idiot and they all where watching, they didn't have a right to stare.. it's not my fault they don't know." She was struggling to understand him now .... Huxley? Who had been staring, she could see he was winding himself up, she wished now she'd woken up early and taken him to his lesson herself, but she'd just expected him to be able to cope with this. Perhaps she'd assumed if she just brought him back here that suddenly everything would be alright and he'd remember who she was and what she meant to him.
"...I don't like how this day has began Catherine, I couldn't sleep, then I had one guy calling me brain damaged, I'm starving but I couldn't eat breakfast. Lisa yelled at me because she was confused and then she walked off .... I didn't know.. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do here."
'Just be you're self, even if you can't remember you're still Riley Finn, you're not going to suddenly stop being him just because you can't remember him.' She moved a little closer to him distressed at the fact he was upset, she wanted to be happy now he was home. She wanted him to give all these mutants a chance, wasn't that what he'd wanted her to give them.
She crossed over to him so she was standing just in front of him, her chin tilted upwards, wondering what he'd do if she just slipped her hands around his neck and pulled his face down to kiss her but she didn't want to confuse him more than he already was.
'He's still with you.' She explained, 'In here.' She lifted one hand, laying it lightly upon his chest then lifting her hand to brush her finger tips gently over his temple, 'and here.' She withdrew her hand from his head, blushing ever so slightly as she realised she was still dressed in her night things, the England shirt almost falling lower then the shorts it was so big for her. She backed away slowly and confused, not really understanding why she'd just done that, was this all she'd ever be able to have, snatched touches, a look when he wasn't aware her eyes were on him.
Cat sat back down on the bed, with her back resting against the head board, she pulled the cover over her legs and then her legs upto her chin, she wasn't comfortable showing that much of her body to him .... even though the day before she'd taken a shower with him. Had it only been yesterday morning, it felt like another lifetime to her.
'They can't know Riley, it's best for them they never even hear the word initiative.' She looked away from him for a moment taking a steadying breath, she really didn't want to say this, to tell him this, but he wanted to know the truth. 'I don't know what Lisa was talking about me going to Huxley for, she must have been confused. All I know is that the initiative after they withdrew you from the school.. they..' Her eyes slid off his again, looking down at her lap, looking at her intertwined fingers, she looked back up again with a sudden determination in her gaze, she wasn't going to look away from him again untill she'd finnished speaking.
'The initiative as far as I can tell is a military run organisation which hunts down and removes the threat posed by demons. They found out Spike was at the school and sent you and a team out to recover him. But they accidently ran across me when they were chasing him and I recognised you, so you took me with you .... to the initiative. They had you on some type of drugs but then they decided to remove your memory.' She had the sudden image of Riley holding a gun out towards her, but she ploughed on regardless. 'You managed to regain part of it but then when you had to have your chip changed they removed your memory again and the rest of that storey you already know.'
She looked away now for a moment letting all the information she'd just told him sink in before she started again. She didn't want to look back at him but she forced herself to, she'd expect him to tell her if she was in his place.
'I can't tell everyone Riley, look at what the initiative did just because we wanted to leave, they tired to kill us, imagine what they'd do with all the children here. I don't want Lisa to get hurt, better they stay safe and never hear the name initiative than learn first hand what they are.' She looked at him rather sadly, for a moment. 'Riley, you're supposed to to live here, you can do what you want to, you can make what you want of your life, if you want to leave no one's going to stop you, but you've got friends here .... just give them a chance, it's hard for them too.' She didn't mention herself, she couldn't say if he'd got nothing more to stay for them would he just stay for her, to give her a reson to get up in the morning, a reason simply to breath.

Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room'Just be you're self, even if you can't remember you're still Riley Finn, you're not going to suddenly stop being him just because you can't remember him.' But who was Riley anyway, a spy, an agent of a demon hunting military, what did demons have to do with this school? Catherine had moved closer while his mind was distracted with trying to assemble the various snippets of Riley Finn he knew. Slowly his head tilted downwards to look at her, it was hard to be upset with people ears dropping when he staring into the face of the girl who risked everything to save his life.. it just didn't seem right to be upset any more.
'He's still with you.... In here.' Dropping his eyes to her hand as it lightly pressed against his chest.. suddenly he could picture his hands taking hold of someone else’s, they where smaller then his.. He was pulling them towards him slowly, placing them over his heart, Riley's hands held his books more firmly against his stomach. The blur of motion that pulled him from his thoughts was Catherine's hand reaching up for his temple, her fingers lightly touching his forehead.
'and here.' The hazel gaze of his eyes blinked as he focused back down towards Catherine, but she pulled away, he was still confused over what he had seen.. He was half undressed as far as he could tell, who was the girl, did he have a girlfriend? Where was she, why wasn't she here with him, who was that person who had touched him with her hands? Blinking the confusion as best as he could from his eyes, which followed Catherine as she moved over towards her bed, slowly slipping under her covers and then pulling her legs closer towards her.
'They can't know Riley, it's best for them they never even hear the word initiative.' It hurt, the only thing that he knew about him really was a life that he wasn't allowed to tell anyone..
'I don't know what Lisa was talking about me going to Huxley for, she must have been confused. All I know is that the initiative after they withdrew you from the school.. they..' Everything has fallen apart and it's not fair because every time he tries to build up the broken pieces it seems he had to remove vital parts just so people don't know certain things about him. Was Catherine disappointed in him for being part of this group? Was she upset with him, was that why she was always so uncomfortable with him?
'The initiative as far as I can tell is a military run organisation which hunts down and removes the threat posed by demons. They found out Spike was at the school and sent you and a team out to recover him. But they accidentally ran across me when they were chasing him and I recognised you, so you took me with you .... to the initiative. They had you on some type of drugs but then they decided to remove your memory.' It caused a shiver to run down his spine, it all seemed to simple, nothing seemed extreme, it didn't sound as if anything terrible had happened to cause them to remove his memory. How many times had that happened to him, even once was far too many times! He didn't like that he was part of a group that abducted her, he stared at her as if hoping that was all that she had to say... but quickly decided he'd rather hear everything then have gaps in his past.. he had enough of them already.
'You managed to regain part of it but then when you had to have your chip changed they removed your memory again and the rest of that story you already know.' But he didn't know it very well.. and he still wasn't comfortable with the idea he had implants inside of his body, how many of them did he have? Just two he hoped.. he still didn't like them, he didn't like the idea he had an implant in his head that pumped him full of pain..
'I can't tell everyone Riley, look at what the initiative did just because we wanted to leave, they tired to kill us, imagine what they'd do with all the children here. I don't want Lisa to get hurt, better they stay safe and never hear the name initiative than learn first hand what they are.' It was terrible, it was the worst thing he ever heard.. it hurt so much because what she said was so true, no one can know about his life outside of the school in case the initiative came and hurt them.
'Riley, you're supposed to live here, you can do what you want to, you can make what you want of your life, if you want to leave no one's going to stop you, but you've got friends here .... just give them a chance, it's hard for them too.' It was getting obvious they where finding it hard, that Dawn girl was upset with him and Lisa got upset and sometimes he had the feeling that Catherine was really upset only she was trying so hard to hide it so he didn't see.. He dropped his eyes away from her after a moment of staring, slowly he moved in her direction, pausing by the side of the bed as he looked down at her. Looking away as his body sank slowly to the ground, resting on his knees as he stared at the edge of her bed, letting his things slip from his hands and slid to the ground beside him gently. Placing his hands together and resting them very lightly on the side of them bed as he looked up towards Cat.
"I can't leave here Catherine, even if I wanted to, I can't.. I don't think I could survive without you right now, I don't see you in the first hour of being awake and everything falls apart." He stared at his hands now, he couldn't really recognise them as his own, if they weren't attached to him he wouldn't have a clue if they where his or not. He gave a faint smile, already trying to push aside the things she had said to him earlier, he was upset about all of it, but what good would it do to linger on it all right now?
"I got off one drug and onto another one, sorry I'm relying on you so much, you probably want more time to yourself." He mused, he fell apart when he missed his does of initiative drugs, and then this morning fell apart when he was without Catherine. He grabbed up his books as he stood, not looking towards Catherine until he had taken a few steps away from her, and then it was only a glance over his shoulders.
"Will you be up during the breaks?" He really wasn't sure how comfortable he'd be with Lisa on his own now after what they had gone through this morning.. He had opened the door as he stared back at her, waiting keenly for her response, the faint smile still on his lips. He felt better after she talked with him.. sure the part about the initiative was bad, but everything else was better and he felt more able to tackle this day.. more eager to make this work out.. after what Catherine did for him, it's the least he could do for her.

Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room
She watched him slump to his knees by the edge of the bed, his hands resting on the edge of it, she knew what she'd told him would have hurt him but he needed to know, he'd wanted to know. She glanced back down at her hands, moving them to hide them beneath the covers as she looked back over at Riley. The touch of her skin against his if only for the briefest of seconds had made the tips of her fingers tingle.
"I can't leave here Catherine, even if I wanted to, I can't.. I don't think I could survive without you right now, I don't see you in the first hour of being awake and everything falls apart." She didn't know how to react to that, she was going to make sure she was always there then because she didn't want him to die, she wanted him to live.. and to live for her.
"I got off one drug and onto another one, sorry I'm relying on you so much, you probably want more time to yourself." She shook her head, watching as he bent down and gathered up his books and paper, he looked at her as he backed off slightly.
"Will you be up during the breaks?" he moved over to the dooor and pulled it open looking back at her with a faint smile upon his lips. She wished he'd stayed longer but he'd already missed half his phsyics class.
'Errr yeah sure.' She said returning his smile, if he wanted to spend time with her that was fine with her, if he'd said he was going to walk to Nebraska and would she be coming her reply would still have been the same.
She would have offered to walk him to his lesson but she didn't know where it was.

Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room
That was good to hear, it definatly brightened up the next two hours for him, at least he had something to look forward to. He smiled his good-bye as he closed her door, his hand lingering on her door handle perhaps a second longer then one needed to. His eyes peered down towards the hall Lisa had taken him down earlier, he inwardly cringed at the thought of finding his class room.. Leaving the safety of Catherine's presence meant that he was once again alone in a world he knew very little about, taking in a breath, he glanced back at her door.
"See you soon Catherine." He called out through her door before hurrying off to his class, it was hard to actually go towards a room you have no idea where it's located, but he managed to find a few students to help guide him in the right direction. Glancing down at his chest, one of his hands reaching up and pulling the dog-tags from beneath his shirt and letting them rest in plain sight. He'd have to ask why Catherine gave him one of her tags, he thought it was nice, he liked it, it's like he always had a friend with him.

Re: Trapped in a Cage of forgetfulness - Riley's Room
By the time he had arrived at his room, he had worked himself up so much that it took a few attempts to actually manage to get his key into the lock and open his door. After slamming it shut, he paced a few steps back and forth in front of his door, then growling angrily at himself, Riley threw his books and pencil case across the room towards his desk, hitting the wall and falling down messily on the desk (some of his loose papers scattering on the floor between him and the desk).
Why did she have to be mad at him!? He didn't do anything wrong, and if he did, she could at least tell him what he had done, he spent the last hour or more impatiently waiting for his chance to see her and this is what happens!? Why did she always have to make things so hard, last night she did the same, and now again, why couldn't she just be happy that he was trying to be good for her? Riley pulled off his jumper and dropped it untidily on the floor, still pacing but now be his bed, yanking the shirt over his head angrily and throwing it down to the ground. He didn't want to come here; she brought him here, why was she making him always feel as if he was doing something wrong?
His hand grabbed up his black shirt, clutching it tightly in his hands as he moved back to his bed, slipping his feet out of his sneakers before dropping down onto his covers, still wearing his dark blue jeans and clean white socks. Does she know he's been through enough, and now he's apparently engaged, how was he supposed to marry some one he can't remember? What if he doesn't love her any more.. no.. he did, he was sure he did, he missed something and now he knows he's in love with someone he knows what he was missing. He was missing her, he wanted to hold someone, he wanted to kiss them, having them with him when he went to sleep and still be holding them when he woke up.. But he couldn't feel anything when he thought of the name Joan.. he felt nothing, he might as well have been thinking of a total stranger, Catherine stirred more of an emotion then the name of his wife. Although the emotion was a confused frustration right now..
Rolling onto his side, the dark shirt draped across his arms so he could at least get to know the strange female scent that drifted from the dark fabric. The exhaustion he felt quickly swamped over him, his eyes closing and his mind focused on trying to grudge up any memories that related to this scent. He didn't care if he missed out on classes, he didn't want to go to them, he didn't want to do anything, he just wanted to stay hidden in here. Besides, everyone he knew was going to a dance, he didn't want to dance.. but then again, he wasn't invited was he? So it didn't matter, who would want to dance with him anyway, his own fiancé wasn't even here to lay beside him when he was upset.. she wasn't even around at all, she was nowhere, she might as well not even exist.
