He smiled, it had seemed to work, for once in his life he had won an argument against someone without threatening them. "i'm glad you saw sense" he sounded relieved, now he could get back to the rest he had been prescribed.

The agents voice echoed in his head, 'good point' he thought to himself looking at her expression, it was not what you would expect from someone who had just lost an argument. He heard a knock on the door, it was either for Lisa or one of the agents outside, still it couldn't hurt to open it. as he walked to the door an idea popped into his head, probably prompted slightly by the men outside. he looked at cat with a hand on the door handle
"and to ensure you settle in properly I'll get the guys to look after you" with that he opened the door, not looking behind him to see her expression. he looked at the figure standing between the now familiar looking agents "hi, you looking for Lisa, because she went out to find someone" he realized how dodgy it must look to the guy, what with no shirt on and everything
'And to ensure you settle in properly I'll get the guys to look after you.' Her head snapped up to face him, her eyes suspicious.
'What'da mean by that?!' Cat snapped, remembering the two men outside the room, no ... surely he wasn't going to have them follow her around, that just wasn't fair, it was so out of order. Cat frowned, fuming at him her face livid as she guessed his plan. Well they had to sleep and eat, she could give them the slip at any point, she didn't want to hurt them, but she was leaving no matter what and no one was going to stand in her way when she decided to go. She was going to have to get Nina to make her up a voodoo doll of Dave then she could get some nice pointy pins and experiment with what parts of his anatomy she could poke them in.
She heard the knock on the door and watched her semi clad cousin going to answer the summons, revealing someone who looked vaguely familiar to her ... it took her a second to recognise him ... on of the X-men ... Bobby something or other. She remembered him from the entrance hall when she had first been invited into the school by Riley ...
A twinge to guilt ran though her as she remembered yelling at him in Lost Angels, suddenly remembering when he'd held her, or more or less leaned on her.
'SHUT UP RILEY' All he'd done was try to help her and she'd just used him to vent her anger out upon, rather like a bobo doll, but she realised that a person can’t always bounce back up again.
'I can't help you...I keep trying and I can't, I gave up getting my meds, I gave up my friends, I gave up my new room...I gave up my new life, it was a lie but it felt real...I gave up everything and I still can't help you.....I'm...I'm so sorry Catherine...I can't help you.'
She could remember ... His free arm gently finding its way to the back of her shoulders, the arm in her grasp pulling from her as he placed his hand gently on the back of her head ... she didn't realise her head had dropped, her hands covering her face.
'Dave ....' She said, forgetting that Bobby was there, just staring down at the bits of wooden floor she could see through her fingers. 'I'm screwed up aren’t I ...' There was hardly any emotion in her voice, it was just a dull drone. She wanted to say something else but she wasn't sure where to start, she wanted to ask him to help her but the words wouldn't come out.

he turned from Bobby to look back at Cat, she looked a picture of misery "probably" he used the nicest tone he could. He walked over to her and gently put his arm round her shoulders in a comforting manner, he took a deep breath "I was going to leave, but I could stay here and help you" he paused and looked down at her "that is, if you want me to?"
he was trying to make it easier for her to ask for help, this way she did not actually need to say the word help at all. she had changed much since he last saw her, but inside she was likely to be much the same, it was just a shame that she had to move away in the first place, if only his mother hadn't picked that Idiot for a stepfather.
'No' his stepfather turned round and stormed out of the kitchen leaving Dave and his mother standing watching his retreating form 'but Eric' she called after him 'there's no one else who can take her' he poked his head back round the door 'exactly!, because no one wants other people's children' Dave's expression was beginning to show the burning anger inside, his stepfather was not only talking about taking in his cousin, but also about him 'I'm sure she wont be any trouble' he piped in trying to keep the anger in his voice to a minimum 'and Sam's getting his own place soon so we could go there out of you way'
Sam was his best friend's brother, he was a few years older and was buying a house nearby, secretly Dave had always been planning to move out as soon as possible, he could not bear being around his stepfather any longer. 'no' the mans answer was short and firm, Dave could tell he was not going to budge on this one 'it's bad enough having one delinquent around the house, I do not need another' he was standing in the doorway now.
Without thinking Dave ran up to the door and kicked it hard, his anger finally coming out, he was not a delinquent and neither was his cousin, the door swung violently and smashed into his stepfather's face, a thud was heard, the door swung open to reveal his lying unconscious on the floor with a head sized dent in the wood of the door. At that moment he hated the man, a Years enforced counseling and anger management tutoring later he still hated him, he did not regret what he did that day the guy had done the worst thing as far as Dave was concerned, he had broken up their family, and that was not on

She let her head sink to rest against his shoulder, she could let him help her couldn't she? She didn't have to feel as if she owed him if he helped her, he was family ... it was what they were meant to do.
She felt the same unfamiliar feeling she had felt before when Riley had held her, it wasn't often someone hugged her ... it felt ... weird, but in a good way. It wasn't the same feeling as when your mother or father hugs you, but to her they were distant fuzzy memories which she could recall but not with accuracy. It made her sad to think that with every passing day she remembered them less, that she would one day only have scraps of memories that she would peace together.
'Don't you wanna go home?' Her voice had lost it's anger now she was speaking to someone she knew well ... even if she hadn't seen him for some time. He belonged to her old life, he was almost like a breath of fresh wind to her senses. Here was someone who wanted to help her and she knew it wouldn't be for any self gain.

Bobby watched as the two interacted and realised instantly that he had stepped in on a very awkward moment. He looked about for a moment, trying to ignore what was going on, but in the end had to say something before he heard to much;
"Hi, sorry to interupt Catherine, but it's important that I talk to you. I'll wait outside if you want and you can see me when your ready, but it is an important matter." His tone was quiet, he didn't want to provoke anything in the two younger students. He spoke slowly and with a slight smile to show his sincerity.
Bobby's blue eyes focused on the young girl but she did not look back straight away. Bobby cooling effect on people seemed to drift into the room as he watched the two hold each other for a moment, and he turned to leave.....

But she was nowhere near as up tight as when she had first arrived, weather she liked it or not she was begining to accept mutants.
She let her arms slip from David, moving away from him slightly ... sensing a sudden feeling of loss, like she had when she no longer had Riley's arms around her.
'it's important that I talk to you.' She felt a sigh rise in her, she'd been told that many times in school, by the teacher, the headmistress, the school councillor ... she wondered what rule she'd broken? ... or had they found out about her schooling track record?
'No wait ... it's ok, you can talk to me now, I don't mind Dave being here.' Infact she wasn't too keen on being left alone with mutants ... but then wasn't Dave a mutant ... but she knew she was safe with him. He might pick on her sometimes but he'd never let anything really bad happen to her. She was finding her self just the tiniest bit envious of him ... how comes he got powers where he could turn himself into water and she only had adjility?

Dave’s first thought was *what has she done now* he readied himself for defending her against any accusations that might arise “has she done something wrong” he said with a questioning tone, searching bobby’s expression for signs of hostility towards her.
He looked to the agents, they probably would have told him if they had sensed anything bad about him, he had only been around them for a little while but he could tell already that they would have the annoying habit of doing that. He backed to Lisa’s bed and sat down trying not to make her bedspread too dirty with his muddied jeans, he wondered weather or not he should talk to this guy about the chances of him being able to stay here to finish his A Levels, if they even had A levels in this country.

Bobby looked at the two young students in front of him and a slight smile crossed his face again, this time much more subtle, it curved his lips very slightly. The ice master turned back into the room, his face brightning, he slowly closed the door to the small dorm room, ensuring that the so called 'guards' outside wouldn't hear the conversation.
He walked over to the nearby desk in the room, grabbed the chair that was neatly tucked under it and pulled it out infront of him and the two students. He straddeled the chair and rested his arms across the top of the back of the chair.
"I didnt introduce myself, I apoligise. I'm Bobby, I am both a teacher here and the leader of the Silver Strike Force. Professor Xavier has asked me to come and talk to you about your position here at the school. You, along with a few others, have been chosen to join another X-Men team based on your skills as well as being a regular student.
The Professor has assigned you to the X-Force team, joining Riley, Sean Summers and a couple of others on that team. The choice is obviously yours as to weather you stick with it, but you have been chosen above others for this place so you should consider it seriously." Bobby's voice was warm and accomodating, he knew the background to Catherine, and her feelings towards some of the people at the school, but he wanted her to settle in here and in time become as strong as anyone else here.
"So," Bobby grinned, expecting Catherine to be extatic with the news, "What d'ya think?"....

Catherine remained silent throughout his talk, her eyes trained upon his face. None of what he was saying really meant anything to her, she didn't really know the purpose of these "teams" and to be perfectly honest she didn't care. However she couldn't but help have a niggling ounce of respect for Riley ... he must be talented if he had been given a team if X-men were leading them.
She shrugged, it wasn't like she was going to be here to be on a team ... though she couldn't help being a little proud that she'd been picked to go on one ... she was usually one of the last to be picked to go on teams and such things, but then she didn't get along with the popular kids who picked them. She wasn't last, she wasn't that unpopular, she wasn't a computer geek kid or the fat one that no one likes and it helped that she was good at sport ... people were always trying to get her to join ... the cheerleading squad, like hell she would be seen dead jumping around with a pair of red and black pom poms ... the gymnastics team, but she flatly refused to wear a leotard for love nor money.
'Whatever.' She said non committedly, looking out of the window at the lengthening rays of the sun, casting long shadows over the lawns, towards the building ... evening was drawing close.

the talk of teams was not registering to Dave much, he was too busy wondering wether or not to ask this guy about enroling, he looked up from the floor he had been staring at whilst bobby spoke as cat replied "Don't sound too entusiastic" he was looking at her with one eyebrow raised "most people would kill to be on school teams"
his eyes drifted from her to his jacket on the floor, he had a sudden urge to put it on, the room's temperature had seemed to drop since the teacher had arrived. giving in to the cold he reached down to the jacket, the leather feeling warm against his fingers. "is it just me or did it get cold all of a sudden" his eyes flicked towards the man questioningly as he slipped the jacket on covering his bare skin.
"I'm Dave by the way" he held out his hand to the guy, remembering that he had not yet introduced himself, he thought he must seem awfuly rude not doing this before "i'm Cats cousin" he finished, his hand floating in front of the man.

Still curiously wondering what Riley could be hiding under his floor boards, what did he have that he didn't want anyone else to know about?
She eyed the two men outside Dave’s room with mistrust as she slipped past them, expecting them to stop her or maybe shoot her. But they gave no resistance to her passing, she reached out and closed her hand around the handle on the door and opened it.
Passing inside quietly she caught sight of Dave holding his hand out to X-man Bobby, Cat was standing looking at the two of them, her hands nervously in her back pockets. Lisa didn't advance in to the room but hovered by the door, not wanting to interrupt even if this was her own room

Bobby looked at Dave and smiled slightly, he slowly raised his arm, and being sure to keep his temperature and powers controled, grasped Dave's hand firmly and shook it.
"Nice to meet you Daves," Bobby started to feel Dave's hand getting 'harder' and crisper, he slowly released it and saw that Dave's hand had a slightly icy layer upon it. "Oh, sorry bout that." Bobby grinned.
He turned back to Cat, still sat upon the chair and his grin faded slightly. Cat's lack of enthusiasm at being chosen as a member of the few teams for Xavier surprised Bobby. He remembered being told that he would become an 'X-Man', it was one of the best moments of his life. His face sofened and looked deeply into Cat's eyes with his icy blue ones;
"Of course, the choice is yours, but remember that if you don't take this oppotunity now, it may never come along again. Listen, heres a list of classes that you can choose from to take while your here at Xaviers." Without getting up Bobby passed Cat the list on a long sheet of paper and waited to see what she would say.....

She watched Dave's arm begin to ice over, an almost evil expression in her eyes for an instant ... so Dave could be frozen, she would make note of that she decided as she remembered him soaking her in Lost Angels.
Catherine met Bobby's gaze for a moment then looked away, these people were being so nice to her and she was planning to betray them and leave, they were trying to welcome her into a world she didn't believe she belonged in. She couldn't understand why they wanted to bothered with her ... but then they didn't know the real her, the one who enjoyed vandalism and stealing things. The Cat who had been expelled from two schools in two different countries, the one who took pleasure in other people’s pain.

'Oh um thanks.' She said taking the extensive list from his outstretched hand and scanning over it once, folding it up and putting it in her back pocket.
'I'll um read over it and let you know what I decide.' She said in a voice that hinted that she would probably forget it was there until it had ruined her combats in the wash.
'I'm really glad your staying Catherine.' Lisa said in a small voice from the other side of the room, trying to sound as friendly as she could, remembering what Rogue had said about giving the girl a chance. At least Cat didn't seem to be shouting anymore, she thought looking relived.
'Huh.' Cat said turning slightly and seeing Lisa standing near the door. 'Oh it's Cat, no one calls me Catherine anymore.' Hinting that their was a time she had been Catherine even if it had been a long time ago.
'Cat rite OK.' Lisa said broadening her smile slightly taking the nickname to be positive sign.

As Bobby's hand clasped around his he felt the stinging cold feeling shoot through his hand, instantly guessing the guy had something to do with freezing things. "dont worry bout it" he muttered, grinning back as Bobby withdrew his hand, his face and voice concealing the stinging pain in his hand.
As Bobby turned back to Cat he stood up from Lisa's bed and sidled inconspicuously towards the door "i'm just going to stretch my legs for a second". as he turned away from them he tightly shut his eyes for a moment, mouthing the word 'ouch' as he tried to move his frozen hand with no avail. he turned back to them, deciding that it would not be a good idea to show the two outside what had happened, they could do something they would regret later, so he hid his arm behid his back as he walked slowly out. Lisa hesitated for a second, watching as Dave left, then glanced back at Catherine, giving the girl one last smile before she decided that it would be best if she left to. She'd mistakenly walked in on something she had no right to be witnessing ... but at least Cat seemed to have stopped shouting and that had to be an improvement.
She eyed the two men who were stationed like bouncers either side of the door, she didn't trust them, wondering where the two of them could have come from and why they seemed to hang around David.
She beckoned Dave up the corridor a little way, not really wanting to talk to him near the two strange men.
'Are you OK. I should have warned you if I'd have thought about it before hand, Bobby's an ice mutant. Lets see your hand.' She shyly picked up his hand, using the fact that he was frozen as an excuse to hold his hand for a moment. She felt his still unresponsive hand under her touch, wondering what it would be like to hold it once it had warmth and life back in it. She let go of his hand quickly and blushed ever so slightly ... pushing away bad bad thought s that she shouldn't be thinking.
'I think you just need to thaw out.' She said with an impish smile recovering herself quickly.

as she held his hand he wished he could feel hers, instead he made do with looking, they looked soft, slender, beautiful, the rings set them off nicely and he couldnt help nticing that she took a lot of time over her nails. he found himself staring at them, quickly he realised what he was doing as she released her grip on him. he looked up just in time to catch the blush on her cheeks.
'I think you just need to thaw out.'
he smiled, a faint shuffle from one of the agents made him flick his head round, Thompson looked unconfortable where he was standing, and also strangely like he was fighting back the urge to laugh. "why don't you go find somewhere to sit down, outide perhaps" he was getting fed up with having them around him all the time. quickly they strolled off down the corridor without a sound, dave wondered what they had heard to make Thompson go like that, then remembered the blushing.
quiclky as they left he turned back to lisa, confident that the cause of thompsons near outburst was her. "i spose it does" he said, a small half smile appearing on his face "can you think of anywhere warm that i could put it" as he spoke he had a few idea's of his own, but quickly he pushed away the things he really should not be thinking

'No.' She said rather squeakily and too quickly, another faint blush rising in her pale cheeks, she didn't look at him, he had such an amazing ability to get though her cool exterior, she was blushing like some stupid sixteen year old when you first date someone ... she was passed all that now ... wasn't she. She made a coughing type sound and took a step away from him, bulding up her self preservation again before she spoke.
'It'll unfreeze by it's self.' She said with an amazing amount of dignity, unless you go down to the med bay and have the doctor look at it.' She felt like she was mentally preening herself back into perfection as she spoke ... that was it she wasn't going to act in this silly manner around him again, even if he was sarcastic to her or got her thinking about things she shouldn't be.

Bobby looked at Cat with his bright icy eyes as Lisa followed Dave from the room, his grin continued, he always like to try and keep cheerful if possible, sometimes though that wasnt the case.
He looked Cat seriously in the eye;
"Listen Cat, this is a school, I know ur not overjoyed by this offer, but it is your choice as to whether or not you stay here. I have to say that if you chose to leave, I feel you'd be missing out on the best place you could be, but its up to you."
Bobby stared at her openly, laying his cards on the table, his face, although very happy looking, was open for her to see his eagerness for her to continue at Xaviers, to develope and use her powers for the good of Mutants and humans alike.
"Look, I'll go if you want, and you can find me or the Professor and tell me your decision, what d'ya think?" Bobby slowly raised from the chair and tucked it neatly under the dark wooden desk on one one wall and turned back to Cat to see her response.....

She shifted her eyes from Bobby's, not really wanting to meet his gaze, she didn't intend on staying here. She was missing out alright but it wasn't here she was missing out it was back at her home ... Washington.
She felt a pang of home sickness wash over her, she missed the high rise flats, the skyscrapers, the dirty roads, polluted air, the people, the whole twenty four seven city she called home. Her eyes finding the darkening landscape outside the window ... where were the skyscrapers, the world outside wasn't right without them braking up the horizon.
'Ummm right Ok then I'll have a think and let you know.' She said still not looking at him, there was a pause and then she heard the sound of the door closing. She glanced back at the empty seat he had occupied, even more confused than she had been before, she had no idea what to do.

"it'd better do" his voice showing his discontent at his new solid hand, he tinged it with his fingers of his other hand, wondering what else to say.
silence ensued for a few seconds while he examined how frozen it was "I should have realized when he walked in the door" he sighed, tapping slowly up his arm to see how frozen it was. "its getting dark" he exclaimed as he glanced towards the window, surprised that the time seemed to go so quickly, his stomach made a faint gurgling noise, it hit him that he had not had a proper meal since he left his home in England a few days ago.
"can we go get some food?" he looked back at Lisa, realizing that his question probably sounded like the lamest chat-up line ever, but it was not intended as that, he just couldn't remember where the kitchen was "and at some point I should probably go find the headteacher, xavi something or other" he added looking down at his boots.
"actually seeing thingy should probably be first thing on the agenda" he looked up at her again, his boots had lost his interest, his face showed an embarrassed expression "could...could you take me to him?" he didn't want to admit he was scared of the guy, or rather what he would say, but his face betrayed him in a big way
