Re: Re: Re: Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
"Well in that case perhaps I should have left it, I don't think he deserves me being nice to him." At that comment, Tessa looked over to where Kaleb was furiously pounding away at the buttons on his cellphone as if he were calling someone up to do something about the two of them. An empty threat, Tessa assumed. She told herself that even if it wasn't, the situation would find a way of being handled... One way or another.... She just hoped it wouldn't involve her having to show what she was for that to happen. It would be too hard to explain that.

Shaking the thoughts form her mind she gave a little grin. "Everyone deserves a little niceness I guess.. Anyway, by the looks of things, he would have been more of a bother if you hadn't kept me from damaging him or taking him out of his misery. You know how their type tend to stick together and love ganging up on the small people. It would have been much too much of a hassle and there wouldn't have even been any pizza in the end." She commented.

"No that's okay I'm not against queuing, I did a lot of waiting in my time.. and I get used to them staring." Tessa rose a brow slightly thiking to herself he was being a little stranger than the average guy. In his day? Why would he say something like that? He sounded like her grandfather or something with that kind of talk.

"And anyway it would not do for a gentleman to sit down whilst a lady was ordering.. if you tell me what you want I'll order and you can find somewhere to sit." He offered. She decided to bring up her questions later when not so many people were crowded so close by. "Hey, I asked you out for pizza, not the other way around. I'll get it. You can stand in line with me if you want but I'm not going to let you buy." She stated.

"Hey, I asked you out for pizza, not the other way around. I'll get it. You can stand in line with me if you want but I'm not going to let you buy."

it was as if he was being told off... "oh... okay, thats fine with me, just thought i would offer" he shuffled around akwardly... the wording she had used passing through his mind, 'asked you out for pizza' mainly, he'd been reluctantly invited to places with someone else but never 'asked out' himself percy knew that it had manydifferent meanings, but the principle was still the same.. usually he was just an optional extra but in this case he was not

His surprise at this could probably be seen quite clearly as he remained standing in line next to Tessa, now wondering how long before they were served and he could actually get something to eat. "so what would you recommend then... i've only had pizza once when i first arrived and was not sure what it was made of as william ordered... i think he said it had everything" once more he ogled the boards to see what sounded nice.

"perhaps i'd better leave the ordering to you, i think its best if i just supply the eating part or we may end up with something strange and inedible" he laughed a little, not really knowing how to act in this situation... or any situation in this world come to think of it, time had changed things quite a bit. and that was another thing, if he mentioned that he was from the past how would she take it, in his time as soon as he sugested that he was going to build a time machine they all laughed him from the room... again, but what about now.

after making a new friend he was reluctant to endanger that fact by blurting out that he was from a hundred or so years ago. still if asked he could not blatantly lie, it was against his nature, why did things have to be so difficult, why did people have to be so intollerant... it was just as spike had said about mutants, people would be fine with you one minute.. then as soon as they found out that you were different they would hate you.. life was too complicated

Re: Re: Re: Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
"Oh... okay, thats fine with me, just thought i would offer" His reaction wasn't what she had expected it to be. She had been just playing around but he seemed to grow uncomfortable as if she just told him off or something. He looked surprised too and that just made her curious about what was going on in his head.

"So what would you recommend then... I've only had pizza once when i first arrived and was not sure what it was made of as william ordered... I think he said it had everything."
He commented, looking at the boards that displayed the menu. "Perhaps i'd better leave the ordering to you, i think its best if i just supply the eating part or we may end up with something strange and inedible." He finished.

Tessa gave a grin, her eyes lightening a little and her running a hand through her hair. Mischief glittered in her eyes. "So, a medium pizza with extra anchovies, pineapples, peppers, marshmallows and gumdrops would be good with you?" She joked. A chuckle escaped and she lowered her hand back to her side. "Just kidding.... I'm not feeling that adventurous today... I hope you like four cheese pizza." She said as their turn finally came up in the line.

"A medium cheese-crust four cheese please... And a small order of buffolo wings with a small dish of ranch and another of blue cheese dressing, and two medium sprites thank you."
She told the man behind the counter. As he asked where they would be sitting, Tessa looked around for a moment before finding a corner booth seat and then looked back at him. "Table fourteen." She answered. After paying the man, she smiled over at Percy.

"Well, they should have our meal ready and served to our table in like twenty minutes max. We can grab up the sprites now if you want though. This place has free refills. The vender is right over there near our table so we won't have to walk too far." She told him, gesturing to one of the three vendors in the place. Taking the receipt, she made her way over to the table, not saying another thing until they were seated.

"So... what's the real deal with you? You can tell me, I won't bite." She was going out on a limb, acting on assumptions that there was something about him even though she didn't know for sure. She was also taking a major risk at the moment as she used her abilities to block sound from traveling past a small zone she had made around the area of their booth. "I'm a little different myself... as you can see by how quiet it just got here." She commented with a half-smirk.

She was nervous but she refused to show it, the only thing happening being that her eyes were darkening in their color. He wasn't the first person she had shown her power usage to but still, it was risky.. She planned it out in her head though. If he were to freak out and end up being a mutant-hater, she would deny everythign he said to anyone else and accuse him of being crazy. Not a pleasant plan but it was one none the less.

Re: Re: Re: Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
"So, a medium pizza with extra anchovies, pineapples, peppers, marshmallows and gumdrops would be good with you?"
Marshmallow’s, gumdrops… the inventor gave her a confused look, they were sweets weren’t they, but after a split second’s glance at her and he realised that she was not being serious, he chuckled at the joke "Just kidding.... I'm not feeling that adventurous today... I hope you like four cheese pizza." Percy shrugged looking at her “I’ll try anything once…”

"A medium cheese-crust four cheese please... And a small order of buffolo wings with a small dish of ranch and another of blue cheese dressing, and two medium sprites thank you." Buffalo wings… William had mentioned those one or twice but the young man didn’t really understand what they were, as far as he was aware buffalo’s couldn’t fly – so how can they have wings. And what ranch was he did not know, probably some other form of dressing. "Table fourteen."

Percy glanced over in the direction she was looking, adjusting his glasses a little on his nose, and wishing his eyesight were better than it was, seemed quite a secluded table in a corner. "Well, they should have our meal ready and served to our table in like twenty minutes max. We can grab up the sprites now if you want though. This place has free refills. The vender is right over there near our table so we won't have to walk too far." Once more he strained his eyes to see, nearly missing the fact that Tessa had started to walk, quickly Percy followed and sat opposite, feeling a little strange once more

"So... what's the real deal with you? You can tell me, I won't bite. I'm a little different myself... as you can see by how quiet it just got here."
Again the young man gave her a confused look, raising an eyebrow he glanced over his shoulder at the nearest people, it was obvious they were talking from the movement of their mouths… but no sound could be heard. “I see” his voice was intrigued as he turned back to face her “I cant help but notice that your eye’s have changed a little, and with the osund going do I detect some special powers there” now it was his turn to go out on a limb… if not then it might be quite embarrassing “I thought that mutants were widely disliked, well that’s what I’ve been told, never mind.. its all a bit unfair if you ask me, I can relate to feeling outcast because of being different” he leaned on his elbows on the table, not very good in polite conversation but he didn’t think it mattered in this day and age.

“Well it would be fair to say that I am a little on the strange side myself, I never fitted in at all, was too clever for my own good, and people like Kaleb made my life a misery, but that is in the past now… quite… literally” he took a breath before continuing, not sure whether he should just back away from the subject altogether, part of him was so worried that there would be repercussions from this, but part felt that he owed her the truth “I’m from the past” before he could make up his mind he blurted it out… the inability to think quietly once more surfacing itself…

“I mean, I built a time machine, and travelled forwards but it got broken so I’m stuck here” he leaned to a straighter position and reached into his pocket producing the dial he had picked out of the road. “that’s what I was doing when you saw me… I was trying to find some more pieces… but I have not got the plans any more so I’m here for good, not that that’s a bad thing..” he added, wondering how she was going to take this

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
She watched him closely for any singn of repulsion only to see a confused expression cross his face. He looked around, observing the detail she had just brought up to him before facing her again and letting out an intrigued “I see”. She gave a slight smile. Intrigued was a hall of a lot better than panicked or aggressive.. “I cant help but notice that your eyes have changed a little, and with the sound going do I detect some special powers there." She gave a small nod.

Her eyes didn't have to do with her mutation but Tessa decided to keep silent until he finished with what he was going to say. She could tell that he was about to speak again and the next thing to come from his mouth may have possably be his telling her that he too was a mutant or something. For some reason, she doubted it. He had sounded too interested and new to the fact as far as personal ways went to be one in her oppinion...

"I thought that mutants were widely disliked, well that’s what I’ve been told, never mind.. its all a bit unfair if you ask me, I can relate to feeling outcast because of being different." It was unfair and it was stupid that mutants had it so rough. He could relate, he had said... There went any chance of him being a mutant, just the tone alone told her it was a different situation involving him. A different reason why he acted the way he did.

“Well it would be fair to say that I am a little on the strange side myself, I never fitted in at all, was too clever for my own good, and people like Kaleb made my life a misery, but that is in the past now… quite… literally” She leaned in a little, not that she needed to to hear him but out of interest of what may be going on with him. Tessa also adjusted her shirt so she wouldn't be distracting him away from what he was about to say.

“I mean, I built a time machine, and travelled forwards but it got broken so I’m stuck here... that’s what I was doing when you saw me… I was trying to find some more pieces… but I have not got the plans any more so I’m here for good, not that that’s a bad thing..” So that was why he acted so different. He was from the past! Had it ot been for all the things that he had done that was so different from the rest of people, she would have found it a little hard to swallow but now it all knitted together.

Her eyes darkened a little as she thought of how she would feel if she were pulled out of her own time and home and into another with no way back. If she were brought to the future and knew that everyone she knew, all of her family, had grown old and were long past dead. But he didn't seem bent out of shape about it so maybe he didn't have anyone?

She leaned back, thinking over some things then after about two minutes smiled. "Well, welcome to the future. I know New York isn't the best of places to end up but I'll help you out as far as gettign you a place to stay at... and definately a new line of clothes. You could propably get away with wearing that for today because of Kaleb's party going on but people will definately start talking and treatign you bad if they see you wearing it for too muh longer." She commented. "It's not that it doesn't look good on you or anything and you definately don't need to throw it away or anyhting like that either. When I get you to the place, you can put your clothes in the closet or dresser or somthing.... That's if you don't mind me getting you a place to stay at for a while." She stated.

She took a glance over at the clock to see they still had about ten minutes then looked at him again. "You probably don't have any money that's usable for here so I'll take care of the shopping and such. I like shopping anyway. If you feel bad about it, you can always pay me back later... Even if I don't feel like I need it paid back... As for the place if you feel like taking up my offer to find you a place to stay at, The person that owns the house owes me a few favors. They're a friend of mine and they may be a little... different... But they're very nice and would have no problem with shackign someone I brought over." She stated.

"Oh, I remember you mentioning my eyes before.. They're not because of my abilities. My family has eyes that do that, it skips a couple generations time to time but landed on me."
She commented.

Her reaction was not what he had expected, honestly he imagined himself being committed to a lunatic asylum by now… still couldn’t be that bad. "Well, welcome to the future. I know New York isn't the best of places to end up but I'll help you out as far as gettign you a place to stay at... and definately a new line of clothes. You could propably get away with wearing that for today because of Kaleb's party going on but people will definately start talking and treatign you bad if they see you wearing it for too muh longer. its not that it doesn't look good on you or anything and you definately don't need to throw it away or anyhting like that either. When I get you to the place, you can put your clothes in the closet or dresser or somthing.... That's if you don't mind me getting you a place to stay at for a while."

Percy looked slightly shocked at this point, mainly because she seemed to be talking so much in such a short time, not really giving him much chance to reply before carrying on… he did not mind though and the expression soon disappeared as he realised that she was quite a nice person "Oh, I remember you mentioning my eyes before.. They're not because of my abilities. My family has eyes that do that, it skips a couple generations time to time but landed on me."

“Oh well I think they are nice” he paused to glance at someone walking past, not really sure whether or not it was safe to talk about things here “at least they work properly… unlike mine” the inventor took his glasses off quickly to demonstrate the fact before placing the carefully back on his nose, taking care as they were technically still belonging to William. “and thank you for your offer… well offers, I will have to take you up on one of them but as far as a place to stay is concerned I already have one…” his voice sounded apologetic at this point, as if he would be letting her down

“I have a small lab in the room next door to mine as well, it is really quite nice so long as you don’t mind the neighbours” he chuckled to himself at the thought of the strange inhabitants of the hotel… Draven possibly being the weirdest one, he was intrigued by everything and anything, even a mere glass of water. “but as far as the clothes go I could really… really use some assistance, its not that I don’t have money, the room and the job go in one, its just that I have no idea about what to wear… I mean I have seen what others are wearing but I tried on some of William’s things and they all just laughed at me…”

Admittedly he had tried on a piar of leather trousers and a vest top that he had found in a drawer… though it was probably Jennifer’s

"I have been here for a couple of weeks now… and yes I believe people are beginning to think I’m crazy most of the time… but if I were to talk to them then they would think it all the more, my circumstances are not what you would call normal. Though whilst working on cases they usually do not bother about how you are dressed so long as you get the job done…” Percy realised that he should probably not go into full detail about the others at the hotel, although she was okay about him being from the past she might not be so good about the others “oh, I work for a private investigation firm” he thought it best to add what he did for a living… she might think he was a ‘drug dealer’ otherwise… he had no real idea what a drug dealer was, but had been assured that It was a bad thing

“Oh well I think they are nice... at least they work properly… unlike mine” Percy commented. “And thank you for your offer… well offers, I will have to take you up on one of them but as far as a place to stay is concerned I already have one…" She wasn't disappointed about the fact that he alredy had a place to stay. Actually, it was a good thing to hear that he wasn't just wandering the streets.

“I have a small lab in the room next door to mine as well, it is really quite nice so long as you don’t mind the neighbours... but as far as the clothes go I could really… really use some assistance, its not that I don’t have money, the room and the job go in one, its just that I have no idea about what to wear… I mean I have seen what others are wearing but I tried on some of William’s things and they all just laughed at me…”
She didn't find it too big of a surprise. There were so many different views on what looked good and what didn't that it too someone almost having to study up on fashion to get things right so no one would make rude comments... And even then, there were always critics in the crowds.

"I have been here for a couple of weeks now… and yes I believe people are beginning to think I’m crazy most of the time… but if I were to talk to them then they would think it all the more, my circumstances are not what you would call normal. Though whilst working on cases they usually do not bother about how you are dressed so long as you get the job done…oh, I work for a private investigation firm”

"Wow a job and a place to stay all in a couple of weeks in New York? The average Joe can't even pull that off. I'm happy for you that you've managed to get those things." She stated with a smile. "B's a little excitable and might have overwhealmed you at times anyway." She commented.

The headache came then, causing her to bring her hand up slowly to the side of her head and for her to rub her temple. "Whoo.. guess it's about time I open us back up to the world." She stated. A brief moment after, the sounds of the Pizza Place filtered back to normal, her letting go of her abilities and giving herself a break.

"I have no problem helping you out with the clothes set-up. I don't mind playing fashion police once in a while."
Tessa told him with a grin, her eyes lightening in amusement.

"Wow a job and a place to stay all in a couple of weeks in New York? The average Joe can't even pull that off. I'm happy for you that you've managed to get those things." The inventor smiled back at her, it was fate really that he had got those things, if he had not landed at that time and in that place he would probably never have met with William, and therefore would most likely have been wandering the street and been run over or mugged, either way it did not bear thinking about.

She began to rub her head . "Whoo.. guess it's about time I open us back up to the world." A worried look crossed Percy’s face and did not go away even though she continued the conversation “are you okay” he asked quietly, realising that the barrier of sorts had gone she seemed as if she was ok though “Well I don’t know weather I should trust you” he joked with a smile “you could make me look a complete fool if you wanted to, I mean I might look worse than I do now”

He thought for a second his hand on his chin “how much is it likely to cost” his voice was quite thoughtful, as if he were talking to himself "I mean it would be quite embarrassing if I were to not take enough money with me, I would feel rather foolish if that were the case” a strand of hair flicked from where it was usually kept out of the way into his line of sight, he brushed it away “also I have very little idea of what the money is worth nowadays, they are all just pieces of paper with pictures of people I do not know who were alive after my time on them… though the numbers are easy enough to understand, I can deal with numbers”

“Ahh, it appears the food is arriving,” he noted as a waiter stopped by their table, politely moving out of the way as the food was placed in front of them. “Well I’ll let you start, it’s only fair as you are paying” he gestured as towards the assortment of foodstuffs on the table in front of them

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
“are you okay” Percy asaked her, obviously knowing that sh ewas in some discomfort. Tessa lowered her hand and gave a slight smile to re-assure him as she nodded a little, tryig to ignore the headache that was threatening to make her damn near cross-eyed.

“Well I don’t know weather I should trust you...you could make me look a complete fool if you wanted to, I mean I might look worse than I do now” Tessa gave a small grin but resisted making the next comment she had just thought of, thinking it wouldn't be very nice to make him nervous about her picking somehting out that would make him seem like a cross-dresser.

“how much is it likely to cost... I mean it would be quite embarrassing if I were to not take enough money with me, I would feel rather foolish if that were the case” True, that would be embaressing but she was feeling nice today so she would have probably helped him out if he ended up a little short on cash.

“also I have very little idea of what the money is worth nowadays, they are all just pieces of paper with pictures of people I do not know who were alive after my time on them… though the numbers are easy enough to understand, I can deal with numbers... Ahh, it appears the food is arriving... Well I’ll let you start, it’s only fair as you are paying”

She took up the offer with no argument, takin gup a slice and placing it on the paper plate in front of her. She didn't speak until the waiter left though. "Well, I know for sure that things cost a huge amount more than what you're used to back where you come from." She began. "About three hundred should do for a starter out wardrobe." It was steep pricing but truthful... which was in a sense kind of sad. "We could just get some clothes from Target or someplace. They're usually good with fashion." She told him.

"We can go whenever you feel like it." She told him, trying to ignore the pain in her skull that was causing her eyes to unfocus some. She squinted a little, not really meaning to but it happening anyway. It was times like this that she wished she had some pain meds with her at all times.

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
Percy slowly picked up a paper plate, hiding his disliking for disposable dinner services well before piling it with an assortment from the table. "Well, I know for sure that things cost a huge amount more than what you're used to back where you come from. About three hundred should do for a starter out wardrobe." Three hundred… was that pounds or pence… the inventor looked a little shocked at the price of things in this time, his entire suit had only cost around twenty pounds when he had bought it… and it was an expensive one too. “Well that’s a little more than in my time I will agree” he stated with a hint of shock on the edge of his words, he was pretty sure that he had enough money to cover that though "I'm sure i can stretch that far, i dont have to pay housekeeping so i have nothing else to spend it on"

"We can go whenever you feel like it." ...go, they had only just been served, but on the other hand Tessa did look as if she were having problems her pupils changing as ones did when adjusting focus he finished chewing before speaking “what’s wrong... does it hurt? I mean, does it hurt whenever you… or just if you over use” his concerned voice lowered, not sure whether it was safe to speak in this place, after al if it was okay then surely she wouldn’t not have had to put up a barrier in the first place.

The inventor had already guessed that Tessa had control of sound in some way, and as spike had told him of their existence he had read up on a few theories on ‘the internet’ (with help of course) it appeared that most mutations required energy to sustain, or at least that was the theory in any case. His assumption was therefore that she had obviously exceeded her limit, or reached it, and was either tired, or suffering the effects of over usage, Most likely to be some form of headache.

But this he could not be certain of, having never spoken to a person about their mutation he did not feel it right to just assume what was wrong with the person from someone else’s theory based on assumption and generalisation. After all the people writing these theories tended to dislike mutants, and the thought that they ASK a mutant what it was like to be a mutant is dismissed as a triviality.

“Well that’s a little more than in my time I will agree.. I'm sure i can stretch that far, i dont have to pay housekeeping so i have nothing else to spend it on" He told her. She almost missed what he said, a slight ringing coming to her ears as the headache intensified. It got to the point where she had to close her eyes and lower her head into the palm of her hand, the elbow propped on the surface of the table. The pizza on the plate in front of her had more than just lost her interest, the smell of it was makign her feel a little sick actually.

“What’s wrong... does it hurt? I mean, does it hurt whenever you… or just if you over use.” She opened her eyes slowly and made herself lower her hand from her forehead, tilting her face up to look at him. Tessa then gave a slightly appologetic smile. "Just more recently. I've been having control issues lately but I'm sure I'll find a way to work things out." She explained, her voice also lowered even through the people in the nearby booth were leaving.

"I'll be alright in a while, just need to pop a few tylenols or ibuprofins and that should take the edge off of it... And it doesn't give me a headache every time, only if I go too far with it or if it just feels like being mean." She told him with a slight grin. Tessa looked down at her pizza then away from it to him. "I'll be taking a doggie bag but we can sit around as long as you want to. There's no rush really. It's not like I have something to do tonight." She assured him.

She didn't understand why she was having problems with her abilities now, after her having had them for so long. She couldn have understood it actign up in the beginning when she first foudn that she was a mutant but after years of having so much control, it didn't make sense for it to be slipping and causing trouble like it had been for the last month or so. It was as if she were going though puberty all over again. Tessa wondered how long this stage of not being in total control would last and why it even started. For a little while there, she wondered if it had to do with stress but she didn't really find what to be stressed out over enough to cause this kind of reaction...

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
Control issues… that was something else he could relate to, he’d already deciphered that he had inputted the wrong time by mistake, nothing else could explain that he went forwards instead of backwards. "I'll be alright in a while, just need to pop a few tylenols or ibuprofins and that should take the edge off of it... And it doesn't give me a headache every time, only if I go too far with it or if it just feels like being mean." The Personification of things like this was not something that was widely used in his time… it was slightly amusing to think of someone’s power having an off day and just taking it out on them.

"I'll be taking a doggie bag but we can sit around as long as you want to. There's no rush really. It's not like I have something to do tonight." ‘Doggie bag’ it was not a phrase he was familiar with, still to just point this out could be considered rude so he just left it, assuming that he would probably discover what one was when they did leave, not that he understood what Tylenol or ibuprofen was, probably some form of medicine though.

“Perhaps if you are having problems with control recently it could be down to a change in your lifestyle, you could be pushing yourself too hard” he didn’t want to sound to presumptive, his voice showing his understanding of her predicament, “I mean, that’s usually the case for feeling ill or unexplained headaches, in my time anyways, though I will admit that we have not made as many advances in medicine as now”
Percy took a break from talking and munched more “perhaps if you relax more, I’m not sure much about women in this time period, but in mine they find shopping quite relaxing, but then again my housekeeper found cooking stew quite relaxing... so I’m not sure on that one…” he joked, he had actually been told by both Jennifer and William that shopping was a relaxant for most women in this time.

“So, what do you say, feel like some ‘retail therapy’” it was a phrase he had heard used more than once already… they had television in the hotel, “I’ve eaten enough for one night… come on” he sounded quite commanding suddenly, it was not something he did often and surprising even to himself “though I’m not sure about how many shops will be opened now… in my time they all shut at about fiveish”

his mind flashed back to the one and only time he had taken a girl shopping, it had been the worst afternoon he had ever spent with ANYONE, she had been trying to convince him that he would be better off giving up his job and taking one with her father… all the while trying to make him buy her the most expensive things from every shop, it was as if she thought he was just a walking bank.. though her company did not last, as soon as someone else came along who was of a higher standing she was off.

"So, what do you say, feel like some ‘retail therapy... I’ve eaten enough for one night… come on... though I’m not sure about how many shops will be opened now… in my time they all shut at about fiveish”

"I've thought about the stress thing and if I was pushing myself too hard but I haven't really seen where I've been over-exerting myself much of anywhere. I mean, I should be used to the kind of life-style I am living now by now... I don't know.... I guess somethign in there might be putting some pressure on me where I can't put a finger on."
She commented, smoothign her hair back with a hand.

She poked at her pizza a little to see if it was more appealing to her yet but that didn't seem to be the case as her stomach tensed slightly and threatened to get sick if she pushed her luck anymore. Her hand was drawn away from the slice of pizza.

"Relaxing isn't really a strong point for me, Percy. I can't even think of a time that I've had a real vacation or didn't have to worry about one thing or another... I'm twenty two years old and haven't even been to a spa before. My friend told me that it should eb a crime for a woman to have gone that long without going.. But I never really felt the need to do it. Sure I like to take care of myself but getting pampered isn't really something I think I'd be comfortable with." She stated, motioning towards the people behind the counter for them to grab up a box for the pizza and a bag too.

"Well, since you seem ready to go sir, I guess it's shopping time." She stated with a grin, showing that she was just picking at him about his assertiveness. "I'm good to go as soon as we get our box and bag... The stores around here don't close until at least nine. Some of them are even 24 hours depending on what kind of stuff you're looking to buy." She told him.

"I'm good to go as soon as we get our box and bag... The stores around here don't close until at least nine. Some of them are even 24 hours depending on what kind of stuff you're looking to buy."

At least nine… things were certainly different here to his time, and as for a 24-hour shop… it was unheard of as no one was willing to do long hours in shops. “Well I was hoping you could tell ME what I was looking to buy” he laughed, “If I knew that then I would have done this shopping business before now.” the inventor smiled before pausing to continue munching, his stomach no longer telling him that he was hungry was a good sign that today had been very good and tonight was probably going to be much the same.

Percy was quite an easy person to please, and the mere fact that he had met someone else and spoken to him would have been enough to make the young man’s day, but right about now he was over the moon. Not only had he met and talked to someone, they were going to go shopping… that had to be a good sign that things were looking up for him and that he may have something else to do other than helping William of an evening.

His life had become quite boring really as of late with his days spent cooped un in the hotel and the nights trawling the streets with William or one of the others looking for trouble to sort out. But he did not like to complain, certainly the fighting evil was not his strong point, nor was it boring at the time… but he just felt like there was more to life than just fighting and waiting to fight. The realisation that he had been sitting in silence for what was probably the longest couple of minutes ever caused him to blush a little “I’m sorry, was away with the fairies there for a minute”

He glanced around the pizza place at the people around, it was quite quiet really he thought, though that was rather nice to not be forced to listen to other peoples conversation “so do you do this often” he asked, “I mean, take random people out for pizza…” his voice was quite genuine as he enquired, trying to work out if it was a normal thing for people of this time. Somehow he doubted that it was a normal everyday occurrence for everyone here as most of them did seem quite rude, not the type to invite strangers out to a meal and shopping “...not that I’m complaining, or trying to put you off mind” he added to make sure that he did not cause offence, it would be a shame to upset her after only a few hours.

“Well I was hoping you could tell ME what I was looking to buy... If I knew that then I would have done this shopping business before now.” Tessa gave a small chuckle dispite the discomfort her headache gave for the actoion then grinned a little. "Well, that's true. But I might have been telling you that bit of information for future reference." She told him, smiling to show him that she wasn't being aggressive about her answer but being light hearted about the whole thing.

“So do you do this often”
When he asked that, Tessa rose a brow. There were a few things he could be meaning in that question. Did what often?: Slap her boss and yell at him before bardging off? Tell someone she was a mutant? Take someone out for shopping? Grab up some random person and take them to a party then bail out for a pizza with them in tow?

“I mean, take random people out for pizza…” Ah, it was the last one on the list of possable questions. “...Not that I’m complaining, or trying to put you off mind.” He added in a way it seemed he was trying to not insult her. He hadn't been insulting even if he hadn't adden that last part on to his comment. His tone had been enough to show her it was genuine and she doubte dthat he was as much of an a**hole as most people in New Yorn in the time he had been there.

" Well, not really."
She stated. "Actually, it's been years since I actually did the taking someone to a Pizza place or any food joint. Usually I'm the one being taken and that's mostly be my friend. Mainly, I'm more of a solo-eater unless I'm visiting family." She added. A slight sadness came to her eyes that she didn't realize but as she did come to notice how she was feeling, she forced it away and gave a smile.

The man came with the boxes and bags and she thanked him before he left. Then, she turned to Percy again. "Well, I guess we're free to go shopping now." She told him.

ooc: have just realised how short this is.. am going to edit so its longer, ive me a sec or two

" Well, not really. Actually, it's been years since I actually did the taking someone to a Pizza place or any food joint. Usually I'm the one being taken and that's mostly be my friend. Mainly, I'm more of a solo-eater unless I'm visiting family."

The smile was not a natural one, even Percy with his limited conversational skills could tell that, but he chose to ignore the fact for a while as it was most likely nothing to do with anything he had done or their conversation and to mention it could be considered rude. his concerned nature would not let him ignore it forever though.. he would have to bring it up later though as the man had brought the boxes over for them to take the pizza away.

"Well, I guess we're free to go shopping now." he smiled and stood up carefully so as not to knock over anything as he did quite regularly back at the hotel, a habit Percy was keen to get out of. "we are indeed" he took hold of the boxes before she got up "Here, i'll take these.. its only fair as you paid and have done almost everything so far" he would have offered her a hand up as well but that could be taking it too far in this time period.

instead he resigned himself to standing politely next to the table as she stood, all the time wondering why William had spoken negatively about people beig rude and inconsiderate. certainly Percy had seen uite a bit of that so far but of all the people he had actually spoken to there was only one he really disliked, and that was Kaleb. I mean this girl did not know him in the slightest when she had invited him to the pary, and knew about as much when she had bought them pizza... or maybe he had just been lucky so far and met the nice one's.

Still percy would not comaplin about it as there was no need to, *why complain about such good luck?* he thought to himself as they walked from the pizza shop. as he did not know much about the city the inventor allowed Tessa to lead the way, filling the time by talking about where he came from, and why he had chosent o travel in time, not mentioning of course the full reson as to why.. just that his uncle had died and percy had wanted to avert his death by stopping the events that led up to it happening.

Though he could not explain how exactly he had come to be a few hundered years in the future rather than in the past, but he did the best he could, theorising that the dials must have had the wrong numbering system on them, when in reality he had had a slight accident with the dials and his sleeve.. but the inventor was not to know that. He did not dwell far on this subject though as most people would become bored quite easily with it and after such a good reception from her so far Percy did not want to upset things by boring her sensless.

Still the rest of the time was nicely filled with general questioning from both parties about the difference in time periods, to which Percy answered with the best of his knowlege. And so they arrived at the first shop, Percy observing the contents from outside as they approached, before making sure he was ahed of her enough to open the door "well, what should i be looking at first?" he wandered over to a nearby manequin and felt the cloth on the trouser leg as if he was testing the quality.

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
On the way into the store, Tessa grabbed up a shopping cart. While passing one of the stands near the doorway, she grabbed up a bottle of ibuprofin and opened it, telling herself she'd be paying for it on the way out. The top was spun off and two of the pills popped into her mouth, her dry-swallowing it due to not wanting to wait until they were near a place she could get a drink at. Since she was accustomed to taking pills, there was no problem in keeping from choking on them as she closed the bottle up again and put it in the cart.

"Well, what should I be looking at first?" She looked ot see Percy testing the fabric of some pants on one of the manniquins. "Hmm... Well, you see the fabric that my shorts are made from? That's denim, it's what makes jeans. Jeans are definately one of the majot parts of the every-day outfit for a guy. Sneakers and boots would be good too... With socks, you might want to steer away from anyhting that stretches up to the knees and black's a good choice..." She told him.

Tessa paused and thought for a moment. "What kind of look are you going for anyway as far as mood? Are ou going for casual or business?" She asked. She probably should have asked that before starting on telling him about the jeans and such but she told herself that she couldn't think of everything. She had automatically started listing off the clothes that would go more for the casual look. Like the look that Kevin would have perferred.........

That was right... She hadn't realized until now that he had been the last guy she had ever gone shopping with. That realization made her have to pause for a moment and take a small breath. She then pushed the disturbed feelins aside and smiled again before looking at Percy again. "I probably should have asked before I started on the fashion-policing." She stated with a slightly sheepish grin.

"The one I just started to list off for you was for just relaxing and walking around and such. For business style, we'd need to go to the suits section and the section where everything's hanging up instead of soem of the things being folded up on the shelves." She told him.

Sneakers and boots would be good too... With socks, you might want to steer away from anything that stretches up to the knees and black's a good choice..." His eye’s drifted from the mannequin to her shorts then as he realised what he was doing they flashed to something else, a hint of embarrassment showing on his face. In his time you rarely saw a ladies legs even if married to one, in fact there were not many men that wore short trousers either… well not without long socks anyway.

Percy began to examine the pile of jeans in front of him carefully, wondering how one knew what size they were if they had never had to do this before "What kind of look are you going for anyway as far as mood? Are ou going for casual or business?” he raised an eyebrow and looked to her as she smiled again.. wondering whether she was ok as he knew that sometimes people smiled to conceal other feelings that they were too afraid to voice. “I probably should have asked before I started on the fashion-policing." He let it go again as there would probably be another opportunity to enquire later

“Well I don’t really know, see where I come from this IS casual” he gestured to his current clothing “I mean for working I will probably still use this sort of thing.. the coat at least” he did not mention why he would still use the coat.. the extra padding he had invented and got his tailor to sew into the lining was a godsend when being thrown around by some of the unsavoury characters that they met whilst working. “I quite like the look of this sort of thing, but the only thing I am having second thoughts about is the material. I mean it looks as if it could be quite rough in comparison to a soft cotton trouser”

Again he felt the pair of jeans on the mannequin, this time feling it more carefully “hmmm, it does not feel to bad to the touch though, and I suppose that being quite a thick heavy material it is hard wearing enough” the inventor picked up a pair from the shelf and held them up, looking over the front and back in turn. “now I would hate to sound silly… but something tells me that you do not need to get a tailor to hep you select clothing in this time do you” Percy observed the attendants, they were mostly women and the clothing was all pre sized, there was no tailor standing with his tape measure to assist in fitting.

His gaze drifted from the trousers to Tessa, realising now that if this denim material was uncomfortable then she would probably not be wearing a pair of shorts made from it, was a rather pointless statement earlier. “I mean its not a problem, but I don’t know what size to get as in my shops they measure you to fit, then select the sizes for you in the specified style and colour” he was beginning to feel quite useless now, he couldn’t even choose his own size of trousers in this time period, she must think he was a pampered rich person in his own time. True he did have a comfortable income… but he earnt every penny of it himself.

Re: a quiet walk around the city (open)
Tessa caught the embarrassment on Percy's face as he quickly looked away from the shorts she had just drawn his attention to. His embarrassment just reminded her of how naked she must seem to him, her remembering a thing or two from history class. Back in Percy's days, women barely showed their wrists out in the open, nevermind their legs, tummys, arms, and part of their breasts. Even in realizing her comparitively speaking bareness, she couldn't imagine covering up her whole body like that. It just wasn't her style. She had worked too hard to keep up her physique and she wasn't just about to hide it from the world.

“Well I don’t really know, see where I come from this IS casual... I mean for working I will probably still use this sort of thing.. the coat at least... hmmm, it does not feel to bad to the touch though, and I suppose that being quite a thick heavy material it is hard wearing enough... ”
She grinned a little as he examined the fabric of the jeans.

“Now I would hate to sound silly… but something tells me that you do not need to get a tailor to hep you select clothing in this time do you?... I mean its not a problem, but I don’t know what size to get as in my shops they measure you to fit, then select the sizes for you in the specified style and colour.”
Percy stated.

"Well, there are some stores that you still get people to measure you at and make custom clothes but they're up there in the prices and I never really get around to going to any of them.... The way you can find out what fits you good and what colors you want is by taking a bunch of clothes that you think might fit you and trying them on right over there." Tessa explained, pointing to the fitting rooms.

"There's a mens side and a womans side, mens has the blue door. When you step through, there'll be a person behind the counter that'll ask you how many you're trying and you tell them to get a tag with the same number on it. Then you go to an empty booth and try the clothes on. There's a mirror in the booth and right out in the hall too." She told him.

The way you can find out what fits you good and what colors you want is by taking a bunch of clothes that you think might fit you and trying them on right over there." He looked over to where she was gesturing, over to one side of the store there were a couple of doors against the wall, they looked quite small though.

"There's a mens side and a womans side, mens has the blue door. When you step through, there'll be a person behind the counter that'll ask you how many you're trying and you tell them to get a tag with the same number on it. Then you go to an empty booth and try the clothes on. There's a mirror in the booth and right out in the hall too." Still a little dubious about the whole small room thing he pondered the idea of this type of shopping, though it probably made sense if you knew a rough size, unlike these things that seemed to have labels on them denoting the different sizes, his clothing did not.

Still it couldn’t be that hard to guess… he took up a pair of jeans slightly smaller than those he was holding previously “I can do this sort of shop… this size looks about right” Percy stated trying them up against his body, they were clearly at least three sizes too big for him “what do you think?” the inventor turned to Tessa, a rather confused look on his face, it was not only clear that he had no idea on sizes but also that he had absolutely no idea full stop. Looking round the shop alone he would be completely lost, there were so many things to chose form and in his time it was normally “what colour suit would you like sir” or and “do you need a hat with that”

He sighed as the full realisation of his situation dawned upon him “you might have to help with this one” his voice was quiet and rather embarrassed at the fact that he was standing in the middle of a store wearing clothes that were form a time so long in the past that these peoples grandparents could not remember them. And to compound this embarrassment he was holding a pair of jeans to his waist that would be able to suffocate an elephant. “otherwise I fear I will become even more of a laughing stock than I already am..”
