Murray sniffed at Storm's speech about how inexperienced they were.
He was nearly twenty and certainly experienced in some ways although his powers were not totally under control. Still he was older than some of the X-men had been originally. Surely older or at least the same age as Jean Grey and Kitty Pride had been.
He waited for the others to exit and for the conversation with Xavier to begin in silence.
re
Feeling her words might have come out the wrong way, Storm tried to explain them.
"Most of them had never fought in a serious battle as to now and throwing them in the real world, so to speak, in a fight for life or death immediately and without more than one or two people who have done so for years is risky. In addition, some are not fully able to control their powers. I have to admit they might be better than I think though...."
She always hated it when she was not able to express her thoughts in a proper way. Suddenly, she remembered the Professor's words.
"However, I said what I wanted to. I will be in my rooms if I'm needed"
Calmly, Ororo left the office glad to finally be able to change into something casual as she was still wearing her white "windrider combat outfit" as Rogue called it.

Re: re
Xavier gave Storms words great consideration, but in truth, what she she fear was the exact reason Xavier was doing all this.
Sometimes the only way to learn control was to take them from a controlled enviroment, after all, here they had very little to fear, but out there, that's when the leaning and gaining of experience truely take place.
He just hopped he wasn't pushing them, but he knew the X-Men could handle it, he was more worried over the students that...that weren't as ready as most..
He looked over at Connor, then wondered if perhaps in this case Storm was right? But sometimes drastic things needed to be done, now wasn't the time to take things nice and slow.
There was something coming, something dangerous and challenging, when it would come he had no idea, but he knew it'd be soon, and he wanted his kids to be safe...
Watching as Storm went off, he wondered if perhaps they should organise some sort of excersions, Rogue, also saying she was fine, did seem like she needed to get out and just have fun.
He waited for the rest of the X-Men to leave, Kurt seemed rather hesitent to be put in charge of a team, though Xavier knew very well he was ready to handle such a task.
As the door closed, and the room was emptied to only Murray and Connor, Xavier gave the boys a small smile, before deciding to get onto the important matter at hand.
Xavier:"I understand you're both going threw...trying times."
He stressed the last 2 words but continued speaking in a stern yet calm voice.
Xavier:"However I can not allow you to slip threw the cracks, unfortuantly I'm going to have to give both of you a little push."
Connor gave a side glance over towards Murray before looking back at the Professor.
Connor:"Push?"
Xavier:"Connor, this is for you."
Holding out a sheet of paper, Connor slowly reached out and took it, a look of sheer puzzlement across his face.
Connor:"..Names?"
Xavier:"Of the Emergency student Team you'll be leading, Madison will be taking the next team when the other students are more ready, Wolverines already stated he thinks you'll both be perfect for the positions."
Connor:"Isn't that my call to make sir?"
He asked unhappily that his father was going behind his back, though also part of him was honored that his father thought so highly of him and his sister.
Xavier:"Murray, I thought I should discuss with you this, before you found out at the meetings, I've assigned you onto Connor's teams, you'll also be under Nigthcrawler's Blue Strike Force. I know you're not really ready for these group things.."
Xavier began to say but trailed off, not wanting to make him any more uncomfortable then he might already be.
Xavier:"Connor, that'd be all."
With an amazed awe struke nod, Connor slowly moved towards the door, he couldn't believe he was put in charge of a group of students, did he want this? Was he ready? Why didn't any of this feel real..
As Connor left, Xavier focused entirely on Murray, a more softer smile across his face.
Re: re
Murray watched as Connor left and the Professor turned his attention on to him.
Xavier:"...How are you holding up?"
Murray looked baffled. "To be honest sir I'm not quite sure. Training's helped and my control is growing but I'm not sure I'm ready for this kind of thing, team work I mean. It's not just the powers. I have..issues with trusting people. I can't read minds but I'm sure you're going to tell me the best way to get over it is will experience and I guess you're right. I'm just not positive I'm ready. If you're ready to take a chance on me I'll do the best I can though sir," he finished after a moment.
Out of all the people in the school very few had gained his complete respect and trust. The Professor was one of these few people though and if the Professor believed he could do it then perhaps all Murray needed was a little more faith in himself and some time with a group.
Re: re
Leaning back in his wheelchair Xavier gave the boy another encouraging smile.
Xavier:"It'll take more then experience to over come what's troubling you, it'll take courage and bravery and the will to continue, all of which I know you have.
There's more to team work then just getting along, your team will become like your family, you'll have to help people when their down, and they'll help you."
Looking down at a sheet of paper infront of him, Xavier gave a small as there where some knocks at the door, Students began walking into his office.
Xavier:"I've got a class now, if there's anything troubling you, make sure to talk with someone, my doors always opened."
Re: re
Murray nodded. He wasn't the type to get overemotional, or for that matter emotional but he knew the Professor would be able to tell just how thankful he was that someone believed in him and was willing to give him a chance. He just hoped he could live up to these expectations and that the members of his family wouldn't think of him as the evil uncle or step-brother.
"Thank you Professor," he said, meaning every word more than his tone would allow.
Quietly he filed out of class and towards the main hallways and his room. He had to think for awhile.
