Re: Dying Star Nightclub
Catherine was looking around herself, she wasn't used to being in clubs like this, everything was so well kept and there wern't a whole lot of people. The clubs she usaully went to played dance music loud enough to damage your ears, and they had bare concrete walls which had posters from several years ago smeered over the walls. You couldn't have sandles like this on because of broken glass on the dance floor and your feet stuck to the concrete floor as you moved and it was so packed you almost had to stand still upon the dance floor.

Her brown eyes landed on the crowd of people dancing and it struck her that almost everyone there was white, living where she did, in down town washington she was one of only a handful of white people. Her school had only had ten kids in it which where white, her eyes moved back to Riley again .... was he used to coming to places like this, did they even have clubs in Iowa? She wanted to ask him so many questions but she knew he wouldn't know the answers. He was so amazing and she couldn't even find out about him and it was all his fault, but she couldn't have brought him home without having his chip fixed .... but then shurely Beast could have fixed it? She dropped her eyes from Riley, she felt so ashamed now, she didn't feel good enough to sit here in his presence.

I don’t wanna dance alone
Don’t wanna be on the floor without my baby
And since I can’t be with you
I haven’t had an appetite for nothing lately
I don’t wanna dance alone
Even the robins can’t sing a sad sad song
Can’t be alone don’t make me do it alone

She let her eyes wander back out onto the dance floor again, her eyes wandering over to Riley for a moment before she took a rather nervous mouthful of her drink.

I have died inside and nobody knows
My life is gone with you and our tomorrows

Thats whats happened to her hadn't it, she felt like there was a gaping hole where her heart should have been that threatened to swallow her up. And no one knew how she felt and if Riley chose to leave Xaviers what would she do? .... she wasn't sure she wanted to live if he wasn't in her life in some form.

Came on over here and make love to me slow
Up in my room we can dance to the radio
Turn the music on and pretend that we’re still close
Give me your hand
May I have this dance
Make it last
Say I have a chance

Her eyes flicked over to him nervously as he stood up, was he leaving, she watched him push in his chair but he stepped to her side and held out his hand, she slipped her hand into his almost automatically and stood up. She didn't even notice Cody's return, Riley had all her attention, she wondered where he was taking her? .... maybe he wanted to go home, she didn't want to leave just yet but if he was going the she would.

But he was leading her towards the dance floor, stopping and turning to face her and it was suddenly like there was only the two of them and nothing else but the music which seemed to swirl around them. She felt her heart rate increase slightly as she watched him step closer to her, slipping his arms around her waist and resting in her lower back, his cheek resting on the side of her head. Her eyes were wide open, her haert hammering in her chest .... what was she supposed to do, she didn't know how to do this. Very slowly her arms lifted to wrap around his neck, she'd seen someone dance a bit like this on the television once.

"I can't dance... can I just hold you Catherine?" The power of speach seemed to be evading her for the moment, but she managed to nodd, letting her head rest forwards slightly so her forehead was resting lightly against his white shirt.

Don't frown, you never know who might be falling in love with your smile

Re: Dying Star Nightclub
(OOC: Angie, I'll let Rogue absorb a shadow of his feelings etc. like some kinda empathy, ok? To have something to react to... if you want me to change that, just gimme a yell as usual :) )

As his lips touched hers - gently, carefully like a butterflies wings softly brushing over the skin - Rogue's heart stopped for a second only to increase its beating's speed.

*Silly meh, 's not like ah'm some kinda high school girl*
, the southern belle thought surprised by her own reaction. Maybe it was just because she - her eyes closed - hadn't seen it coming.
Maybe she had already given up hope, feared his love for her had went cold now that hers was just beginning to heat. Sometimes, fate can be a real bitch - Rogue had learned that decades ago.

However, there was something else about this kiss that was different than before. There were none of his memories entering her mind, in fact, there was nothing she could feel coming from him. Blaming it on the contact's brevity didn't work for long since shortly after Rogue had decided this to be the reason, Spike kissed her again - more passionate, longingly - and while an amused part of her noticed the connection to the song that was just sung

Come on over here and make love to me slow

another couldn't help but wondering. As he pulled his lips away for the second time - their skin contact having been kept for a period of time in which the absorption mutant's powers would have made a human being faint - there was but a small glimpse of his emotions she could faintly sense somewhere inside of her.

Fear... fear of her? No... of being rejected by her... and doubts...

It was a frustrating thing to realize. After all, she had always been able to understand him by simply touching his skin and now, there was just that? Rogue - not willing to hurt him - suppressed every sign of the feeling of loss that began to built up.

The way the vampire was standing there - his head lowered like a schoolboy who had down something wrong waiting for punishment - the SSF's leader felt guilty of mourning for this unnatural state. In any other relationship, people didn't know everything about their partners as well, so how could she dare to - in any way - feel betrayed? Obviously, Spike was the one suffering... and if he wanted to tell her, he would... it was up to him to chose the moment.

Softly, Rogue touched the vampire's cheek smiling lightly upon the arising déjà-vu.
"Hey"

Slowly - as if not to scare him away like an unstable shadow - the southern belle destroyed the obstacle of distance he had placed between them and searched for his hands.

Turn the music on and pretend that we’re still close
Give me your hand
May I have this dance
Make it last

Starting to dance, there was just one thing she was hoping, one thing she said out loud.

"Tell meh we're still close, Will..."

The auburn-haired laid her head on his left shoulder closing her eyes again, whispering.

"Tell meh... d'you still love meh? Coz if ya don't... then stop playin' games...
This girl's just about to really fall in love with ya..."

And remembering those fragments that had passed through their link, Rogue added

"...with you, with all, what you are.

Ah'll always respect your privacy... just... just gimme a chance t'be a part of your life!"

Hell, why was it so difficult? Was it just because she had to guess what he was actually feeling, what those emotions meant... or rather a very human side effect of being in love?

Meanwhile, Aurora fought hard not to laugh upon Scott's curious look. What was it with this guy? Obviously, he was none of those "first hit, then ask" kind of people which the fiery mutant realized with a strong feeling of relief.

Scott: "You see me?"

"Well... um..."

The question came surprising enough to - after a moment of silence in which he went on - finally release the laughter Garnet had been holding back. It was a short and charming one which also carried her relief at not having to fight this - as she noticed with a closer look - hunk.

"Yes, I can see you, indeed"
, she said with an excusing smile.

"My apologies if I offended you... I did not mean to"

Before Circe could reply to either of his other questions, something caught her attention. Transparent wings had unfolded from behind his back and moved gracefully. It was a beautiful sight, yet a familiar one.

Tessa...
The whisper was directed at no one as she thought for a moment.
Her manners prohibited asking her questions without at least introducing herself and replying to his.

"My name is Aurora Garnet Ferelle but in my... school, I am also called Circe.
I am human... yes, I consider myself human, however, genetic mutation has lead to the development of certain powers, hence, I am able to conjure and control fire in any form. My own flames cannot hurt me and natural heat only when being really... hot... like thousands of degrees. To explain the physical details would lead to far, I think, so in a nutshell: I can use my own fire to fly..."

She smiled again wondering whether this strange fairy understood what she had just said. To underline her words - although Garnet knew it seemed a little bit like showing off - the dark beauty raised a hand and placed another on it as if protecting something little in them right in front of her face.

"Come out, little one"
, Aurora muttered out of a habit and its fiery light reflecting in the mutant's eyes, a small bird escaped her opening hands.
It circled a few times over their heads, became smaller and smaller until it disappeared into nowhere.

"I can give it any shape I want...

Anyway, now that I replied to your questions, allow me ask one myself, please.
Are you a fairy? At my school, there is a half-fairy which is why I simply guessed that and... this might be an explanation for why others cannot see you"

Noticing a group of youngsters approaching them, Aurora casually went past Scott and leaned against the car he had been sitting on earlier. Whispering a "Just go ahead, I pretend to phone someone" she took out her cell phone.

Life can be like a stone thrown in the sea. It creates waves, maybe changing something, maybe not, but no matter what it causes, every single wave will disappear into nowhere...

"What am I meant to do?" She heard Jaord ask in her mind.

The truth was, she really didn't know what he was supposed to do. Mandi gave a quick glance around then selecting a pair that were dancing to the side, she observed them then looked back into Jarod's dark eyes. A soft smile lit on her lips but her symbol lighting up ever so slightly hinted of her nearvouseness as she lightly took his hands and placed them on her hips. It was in the way that she had seen the other pair hold eachother like this. She then placed her hands gently on his shoulders and stepped closer.

" Don't worry, Jarod, I'm learning to." She said into his ear before dancing slowly with him like the other pair were dancing with eachother.

ooc- Absorbing his emotions is perfectly fine Matt! As well as his powers if you want, since only his mind has strengthened its shielding abilities
----

"Hey" The soft touch of her fingers against his cheek caused him to look up at her slowly, but he could feel her hands finding his own cooler ones, causing him to looked down and watch their hands for a moment.

"Tell meh we're still close, Will..." Her movements grew more smooth as she began to dance gently to the music while holding him. Now it was Rogue's head that rested upon his shoulder, Spike's sensitive hearing managing to sort out the whisper from the screaming sounds of music and students around them.

"Tell meh... d'you still love meh? Coz if ya don't... then stop playin' games..." Spike's hazel blue eyes stared ahead rather blankly, why was she asking him this, he didn't understand, was he playing games? He didn't think he was.. he had told her he was in love with her once and then she said she could never be in love with him.. but that she loved him, and Spike didn't understand fully what that meant. He thought he still loved Dru back then, but now he knew he stopped loving her a long time ago.. But didn't Rogue understand? He'd always love her, as much as a creature of the darkness can anyway.. he wasn't human, but he was human enough to say he cared about her and to mean it.

"This girl's just about to really fall in love with ya..." If Spike was human right now, his hands might have started to grow sweaty from becoming so nervous, what did she mean fall in love with HIM? He wasn't worth that, not her love, she deserved something so much more.. but then his mind wondered back to the Slayer.. thinking about Tasha and their recent trip to Africa and the trials he was forced to endure.

"...with you, with all, what you are." She didn't know what she was saying, she didn't know he wasn't able to get his soul, she didn't know that his chip was removed from him against his will, she didn't know anything about what had happened to him down in the initiative. How could she say she loves him, she doesn't know him any more.. she doesn't know what he's done in his trails or what he was faced with.. She doesn't know.. and maybe that's how he wants to keep it.. but if that's what he wanted.. why did he feel as if his eyes where ready to burn with icy cold tears?

"Ah'll always respect your privacy... just... just gimme a chance t'be a part of your life!" Didn't she see that she was already a part of his life? If it weren’t for her then he wouldn't even be here, he probably wouldn't even be 'alive' any more. Why did she have to do this, he already didn't know what their relationship was, and he was starting to get used to this odd togetherness. But now she was changing everything and he wasn't ready, he wasn't ready because he didn't understand what she saw in him. Why would she give up her life to be with him, of all guys... he wasn't even real.. he was a lie, he looked human, he sounded human, but that was all just a lie.

The powerful vampire stared hard down at the ground as he held her, when he wanted to give her everything she said that she'd never be in love with him, now he has had everything taken from him and she's ready to love him? It wasn't fair, it wasn't right, he had nothing to give her, he couldn't give her anything, he didn't have a soul, he wasn't human, his emotions where but echoes of who he was, he couldn't even FEEL love towards her like a human would be able to.

"I said I luv'd you Ro', I still do.." His eyes moved over towards Catherine, holding Riley as if he hadn't ever tried to hurt her, but he had, Spike had seen what that boy has done to her.. But he was drugged, he didn't know what he was doing, so did she love him even after what he did? And why? Why do humans seem to fall for those who cause them so much pain? Now Spike wished he were with the Slayer just one last time.. if he could ask her if she'd ever find it in her to fall in love with him as he had fallen for her, what difference would that make to how he feels towards Rogue? But that was the problem wasn't it, he loved both of them, it was confusing and complicated, and one seemed to want him and another wouldn't say. But if he said he loved one more then the other would that be true?

It didn't make sense, he had been depressed in the cells because he wanted Rogue to say she was in love with him even if it was a lie. But now she says she might be in love with him and it was scaring him for some reason, why? Was he really that afraid of seeing the disappointment in her eyes when she discovers that he failed in receiving his soul? Or the fear in her eyes when she finds out that he can be a murder again and the chip won't punish him for harming humans.

"..You deserve betta then me." His English accent was rather heavy in that small sentence, probably because he was too distracted to try and hide it, a habit he had picked up while being around Angelus, after all, the Irish and the English didn't get on very well back in their days. She deserved someone who didn't purr or growl or snarl or roar, she deserved someone who was more man and less monster. She deserved a warm hand to hold and a warm body to lay against at night, a warm kiss and a beating heart from her lover. But above all else, she deserved someone who could look her in the eye and say with full understanding on the word and how it made him feel, that he loves her, with all his heart.. And Spike couldn't do that.. he didn't even have a beating heart, he didn't understand what it felt like to be in love like a human felt since he was sired by Drusilla before he had the chance to feel any of that.. Well he had grown obsessed with Cecily, but that was different.. she never loved him back so that was very painful for him and he didn't want Rogue to go through something like that.. to love him so much and for him only able to return a small fraction of her love.. if any at all.. because of what he was.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub
"Yes, I can see you, indeed" The young Prince couldn't hide the grin that pleased his features, he was starting to feel homesick before because no one was talking to him, but now he was feeling much better, and full of curiosity.

"My apologies if I offended you... I did not mean to" He didn't really realized anything offensive had been spoken, but he smiled to show he wasn't offended in the least and gave a curious look as Garnet seemed to think about him and what to say.

Tessa... Cocking his head slightly at her word, he then let it slip pass as she seemed to be in thought, but his curiosity was burning even brighter then before now as he waited for her to speak.

"My name is Aurora Garnet Ferelle but in my... school, I am also called Circe." With a bow of his head to show the respect one gives when introduced to someone new (In his family anyway) he then listened intently as she explained herself.. though the struggle to hide hi confusion was great.

"I am human... yes, I consider myself human, however, genetic mutation has lead to the development of certain powers, hence, I am able to conjure and control fire in any form. My own flames cannot hurt me and natural heat only when being really... hot... like thousands of degrees. To explain the physical details would lead to far, I think, so in a nutshell: I can use my own fire to fly..." He understood what she was saying, just not about genetic mutations, he wanted to ask her about that but had a feeling it'd be slightly complicated. Suddenly she seemed to have cupped her hands gently in front of her, his eyes watching her hands carefully, and then she seemed to whisper. Moments later what seemed as a living bird of fire flew from her hands and circled above them, Scott's wings fluttered excitedly at the sight as his eyes remained focused on the now fading creature of fire.. it was like a Phoenix, the fiery birds of legends.

"I can give it any shape I want..." Even in a family of spell casters, they never did things like that, at least not in Scott's lifetime, so he was still really impressed and when he looked back down at her he smiled brightly, humans didn't seem so dangerous.

"Anyway, now that I replied to your questions, allow me ask one myself, please." Out of habit that has been drilled into him since he was born, Scott gave anther bow of his head as if giving her permission to speak. Though he was still delighted and couldn't put on his serious expression that his parents always demand he wear.

"Are you a fairy?" For some reason hearing her say that caused him to flutter his wings very nervously, what if she hadn't hurt him yet because she wasn't sure if he was a fairy or not? But at her next words his attention was peeked and his wings poised motionless as if one flutter might make him miss a word as she spoke.

"At my school, there is a half-fairy which is why I simply guessed that and... this might be an explanation for why others cannot see you" She knew a half-fairy? He hadn't heard of half-fairies, what where they like? He wanted to meet her, he wanted to see this half-fairy, did she live with these humans, and did they see her and yet not him? He still didn't understand what them knowing her meant that she was able to see him, he didn't understand humans had to know or believing in fairies in order to see his kind.

"Just go ahead, I pretend to phone someone" The male fairy had no idea what a cell phone was so he stared at it as if it might be a weapon, but she oddly enough placed it by her ear and he decided it couldn't be harmful if she put it aside her head..

"I am of the Fae-Folk who live in the sheltered world of the Enchanted Kingdom, I am simply searching for a missing Prince.." He explained incase she was wondering why he was hovering around groups of humans, but then again, that really still wouldn't explain things on why he was here, and he really didn't feel like going into a great deal more details then he already has.

"Why is the half-Fairy here and not with our people, is she nearby? Could I met with her? What is she like?" He dropped the coat on the car beside Garnet since he was just fiddling with it in his hands and to passers it might seem odd having a coat hovering in mid air. He wanted to know everything, he wanted to be told everything, but then he gave a quick flutter of his wings that made him hover on his toes for a moment as he remembered rather surprised that he wasn't sure if he has introduced himself or not, he was very distracted with finding someone to talk with.

"Pardon my manners, they where lost in my eagerness to learn, in this world I go by the name of Scott Freeman." He gave another more formal bow, his wings almost unseen as they moved quickly to raise his feet from the ground slightly while he bowed, his arm resting across his stomach before returning to his upright position and letting his feet touch the ground once again. When he was excited he'd flutter his wings and when he got overly excited he'd hover without meaning to.

"It is an honor to meet you Maiden of Fire." He replied rather gleefully as he waited then eagerly for her explanation on Tessa and the half-fairies where abouts.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub
It seemed Mandra wasn't as sure of things as he thought she'd be, for she too was glancing about to see what it was they needed for him to do. He felt slightly better at that thought, that it wasn't only him struggling to figure out these things, though he was sure she wasn't struggling as much as he.. When she looked up at him she gave a soft smile, her unique symbol giving a faint glow, her hands taking his and placing them on her hips. He smiled rather nervously and then her hands seemed to rest upon his shoulders, her body moving even closer to his.

"Don't worry, Jarod, I'm learning to." He didn't fully understand the need humans had in holding each other, but right now he liked holding her like this. Maybe that's the only reason they held each other, because of how it made them feel? It all felt so strange, he felt strange, everything around him felt strange.. his eyes closed as they began to slowly dance. It was so very different to A.Corp, all of this, did this always happen? Did humans always do things like this, make each other feel strangely as he was feeling? He had the memories of so many all around him, but it was wrong for him to pry into their lives, he couldn't do that.. he'd have to figure it out on his own.

His hands stopped holding her hips and slowly just slipped around her, his fingers lacing together, it may be a strange feeling, but it was a nice feeling at the same time, it wasn't frightening or uncomfortable, if anything, it was very comfortable.. Suddenly the thought of returning to the safety of the school grew rather distant in his mind, he would enjoy just holding her like this for a while longer..

"Do people do this often?" This time Jarod spoke out loud to her with his voice, but he mimicked what she had done, talking quietly into her ear though his eyes remained closed. He liked this, he hoped they did it often, he liked it when someone held him... no ones ever held him like this and it was nice..

Mandi leaned in closer and rested her head against his chest when he moved his hands from her hips to behind her back, lacing his fingers together. This felt familiar... and comfortable to her. It made everyhing around them seem to fade to the background. Mandi closed her eyes as they danced slowly, thinking to herself that she had caught on to the whole dancing concept. It seemed by the way his muscles were less tense that Jarod wasn't so nearvouse anymore either. He felt more relaxed. Mandi slipped her hands from his shoulders then lightly placed her arms around the back of his neck.

"Do people do this often?" Jarod whispered into her ear.

She gave a smile at his calm tone. By the question, she guessed he ment if people went out dancing like this often. She thought for a moment, trying to figure out herself if this felt like it was done commonly. Well, this did feel familiar so she figured that it was something.

" I'm not sure but it seems like it. I mean, everyone is acting like this is a natural thing and nothing out of the ordinary... And for some reason, i feel like I've done this a few times before at least." She told him honestly.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub
The gentle touch of her head against his chest seemed to cause his skin to tingle, even the tips of his fingers, but it was still nice.. Her hands moved from the front of his shoulders and slipped lightly around his neck, she was so close to him.. His eyes glanced down at her for a moment, then he shut his eyes once more, his ability to sense where she planning on slowly shifting her feet to made it easier for him to follow or not trod over her feet.

"I'm not sure but it seems like it. I mean, everyone is acting like this is a natural thing and nothing out of the ordinary... And for some reason, i feel like I've done this a few times before at least." People did seem comfortable doing this, but he hasn't done it before and he was comfortable.. But then he wondered if people danced with different people, so next time Mandra came here would she take someone else to dance with? He didn't like that idea, the thought of having someone else this close to him, it made him uncomfortable. Maybe it was different with Mandra because he knew her a little more then he knew the others.. Heck, he had her entire memories stored in the back of his mind, he knew her more then she knew herself right now.

Slowly he rested his head very lightly against the side of her own, he wonder that else she's danced with.. her husband he assumed. Jarod restrained the urge to sort through her memories, they where hers and he didn't want to pry, he was only holding onto them incase she wanted them back one day.. But he was not her husband, so was it permitted for her to dance with him? He didn't understand human courting, it was all so complicated, what was the difference between seeing together and being married and being together without being married? How would she react when she discovers she has been married, but her husband died.. would she be mad with him for making her forget... even if it was her idea.. What if she remembers and she wants him to make her forget again, what if she spends the rest of her life trying to remember whom she was and with him always making her forget?

His arms held her slightly more closer against him, he didn't want her t hurt, but he didn't want to be the one that keeps her from discovering herself for the rest of her life.. He couldn't.. she's the only one who's ever held him like this, she was the only one who he knows right now and his only friend.. even if they had only just met.. he's never had a friend before.. sure there was one or two other people he's met who where Pretenders like himself, captives trained to become anyone they want to be, to be able to be placed in any work environment and easily blend in..

But Jarod needed to study whatever he wanted to learn about, otherwise he was helpless, he'd be able to handle disarming bombs, running simulations and hundreds of other things better then he could figure out basic human behavior. But it didn't seem so hard around Mandra, she seemed willing to accept his inability to understand such basic things, and something’s even she was still learning..

Maybe that's what hurt, Jarod wanted to help her with someone, and the one thing she wanted right now was to remember what she's forgotten, and even though he COULD help her with that.. at the same time he can't because then she'll grow upset again, he didn't want her to be hurt and upset like he had first seen her. It wasn't fair, why did it have to be him that did this to her, she was so kind to him, no ones ever been kind to him other then his father and everyone he met was kind.. but not like this.. she was different. Just holding her like this, the flutter of his heart pounding throughout his body to the very tips of his fingers, he could even pick up her scent, it was a nice fragrance..

It seemed amazing that anyone would want to forget moments like this, all the terrible things she remembers may have been lost... but so has all the wonderful things, all the small memories she'd forever want to cherish.. taken away from her. It was then he remembered there where others around them, Jarod's eyes moving over towards the others dancing nearby, the music finally reaching his ears, how could he have not heard the words of these songs or remember the confined spaces as these groups moved closely around them.

Jarod shook all the thoughts form his mind as he turned his focus back on the woman in his arms, it seemed strangely opposite, she was rather light and filled with colours, and yet he was dark and bland. He had dark hair and dark eyes, his clothes where similarly dark, where as Mandra had light pale purple hair with bright eyes and that wondrous dress a colour Jarod has never seen before. While he faded into the darkness around him, Mandra seemed to stand out perfectly.

"I like this." He seemed rather delighted with all this now, al these new experiences where turning out to be more enjoyable then he thought they'd be. He wanted to learn more, he wanted to see more, it was different when he learned things with someone else, it wasn't like when he was studying for a new 'Pretend', learning from books may be great, but it wasn't as fun as learning first hand with someone else, especially if they where learning as well.

"Hey all!!" Angela's voice called out over the yells and cheers and even some boos which mainly came from Max's group, but she bluntly ignored him, although her boyfriend Cody had thrown Max a very poisonous glare from where he was hidden at their back table.

"This song is called, Things I’ll Never Say." She smiled at the others in the club as the music started, pushing aside the nerves that eat away inside her. Once or twice her eyes moved over towards the table her group sat at, only her boyfriend was there now and he still didn't look very happy. Quickly her eyes looked down at all her friends and all the others, smiling slightly at Dawn and Sean, but then more at Riley and Cat, the two had a fight before and she was worried they'd be still upset.. But they seemed to be alright now, it must be hard for Catherine, being in love with someone he doesn't remember her, but if she could see what everyone else could see, it was so obvious that Riley still liked her, why was it so hard for them to see they liked each other? Da da da da da Her voice hummed out with the tunes, the microphone held in one hand while her other currently tapped her thigh gently as she kept rhythm with the music.

I’m tugging at my hair
I’m pulling at my clothes
I’m trying to keep my cool
I know it shows
I’m staring at my feet
My cheeks are turning red
I’m searching for the words inside my head
’coz I’m feeling nervous
Trying to be so perfect
’coz I know you’re worth it...you’re worth it...yeah

If I could say what I want to say
I’d say I want to blow you away
Be with you every night
Am I squeezing you too tight?
If I could say what I want to see
I want to see you go down on one knee...
Marry me today!
Guess I’m wishing my life away...
With these things I’ll never say

It don’t do me any good
It’s just a waste of time
What use is it to you, what’s on my mind?
If it ain’t comin’ out
We’re not goin’ anywhere
So why can’t I just tell you that I care?
’coz I’m feeling nervous
Trying to be so perfect
’coz I know you’re worth it...you’re worth it...yeah

If I could say what I want to say
I’d say I want to blow you away
Be with you every night
Am I squeezing you too tight?
If I could say what I want to see
I want to see you go down on one knee
Marry me today!
Guess I’m wishing my life away...
With these things I’ll never say

What’s wrong?
With my song?
These words keep slippin’ away...
I stutter...I stumble
Like I’ve got nothin’ to sa-ay...
’coz I’m feelin’ nervous
Tryin’ to be so perfect
’coz I know you’re worth it...you’re worth it...yeah

Da da da da da da da da da...
Da da da da da da da da da...

Guess I’m wishing my life away
With these things I’ll never say
If I could say what I want to say
I’d say I want to blow you away
Be with you every night
Am I squeezing you too tight?
If I could say what I want to see
I want to see you go down on one knee
Marry me today
Guess I’m wishing my life away
With these things I’ll never say

With these things I’ll never sa-ay

It wasn't her most favourite song, but she only had a small selection to choose from, and she really wanted to do that one first, then she'll sing the ones she prefers. Besides, she had a special song for her friends, actually, most of her songs where chosen for her friends who where mostly on their first dates.. no.. they ALL where on their first dates, Catherine with Riley, Dawn with Sean and Lisa with Dave. This is their first outing together, and Angela wanted to sing her songs just for them!

Re: Dying Star Nightclub - The Special School Dance
It was rather confusing, Angela's song made Riley think about what Catherine had said earlier... Catherine got upset because she thought he was perfect. Which was really stupid in his mind because .. well.. look at him, he was an ex-demon hunter who can't even remember his parents names, how could she even THINK of him being anywhere NEAR perfect!? He glanced over towards Angela who was still on stage, but then as she began her next song, Riley closed his eyes and dared to hold Catherine slightly closer against him.

I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again
I thought about it

Why did holding her feel so familiar? Everything about her did, not just holding her, he liked her eyes and her smile, he liked her scent and the way she held her arms around his neck.. He liked how she didn't complain because he couldn't dance and he liked how she just.. let him hold her, that's all she was doing though wasn't it? Just letting him hold her.... because that's what you're meant to do when you dance, you hold each other..

You treat me like I’m a princess
I’m not used to liking that
You ask how my day was

Maybe he didn't like Catherine the way he's starting to think he likes her, maybe he's just lonely, and after all, didn't it happen very suddenly his like for her? And really wasn't it because -- when he thought hard about it -- around the time he started remembering his old girlfriend that he started to grow far more fond of Catherine? He didn't want to like her because she reminded him of someone else, he didn't want to do that to her, that wasn't fair, on either him OR her.

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
Don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

But if he didn't like her.. why did he enjoy holding her like this, and why was it so hard for him to remain focused on the words of the song. Why were the sounds all around them fading and why was the palm of his hands growing slightly sweaty. Why was his heart racing, pounding furiously against his chest as Catherine's forehead lay against it, why did he wanted her to be closer to him, when there was already little to no distance between them?

Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole
You’re so much braver than I gave you credit for
That’s not lip service

Glancing down slightly at the top of Catherine's head, raising his own away from hers just partially, his mind swamped with images once again. He felt dizzy, all the flashing lights and the pictures of his mind also flashing through his eyes, taking in a breath as he shut his eyes, he could feel the muscles of his chest pressing again Catherine's forehead. He dropped his head once more, his cheek cherishing the touch of being against the side of her head.

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
Don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

He wasn't sure he liked these songs, it's like a reminder of what he's missing, something he feels he's so close to having and yet it's just out of his reach. Because how could Catherine ever like him if he makes her angry just by being himself? That didn't seem fair, does it really matter that he's smart or perfect, doesn't just caring about her matter more then what he can or cannot do?

You are the bearer of unconditional things
You held your breath and the door for me
Thanks for your patience

You know, it really hurt that she yelled at him, he hoped one day she'd realize how painful it was to be yelled at for something you can't help or don't understand. But then he suddenly thought rather over protectively that he never wanted her to go through something like that.

You’re the best listener that I’ve ever met
You’re my best friend
Best friend with benefits
What took me so long

I’ve never felt this healthy before
I’ve never wanted something rational
I am aware now
I am aware now

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
Don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

He felt this dread wash over him, because in the corner of his eye as he opened then when the song began to finish, he could see Angela hopping off the stage, another singer taking her place for another three or so songs before Angela went back up onto the stage. He wasn't sure he wanted to let go of her, if he did would they become awkward around each other once more? If he made her so awkward why did she let him hold her then?

"We should head back to the table with the others.." He spoke, yet didn't seem to make any effort to move, remaining standing there with his arms around her. He didn't want to be rude and not spend time with the friends they where here with, but at the same time he didn't want to leave Catherine. If they went back there, they'd both get uncomfortable all over again, he knew that's what would happen, so what exactly was the point of leaving this spot?

Re: Dying Star Nightclub
After getting a good look around the nightclub Lauren looked over to Heath in time to see his mouth close. Had he said something? It was loud enough for him to have said something and for her to not have heard. She was about to ask him again for his answer, but became distracted when she saw Angela on the stage, who had a fairly large smile on her face. Smiling back she noticed Angela look in another direction, turning her head slightly and looking in the same direction she saw the table with a guy already sitting there.

Lauren: "It seems as if we’ve got somewhere to sit."

She said to Heath before making her way towards the table, but soon stopped after hearing Angela’s voice and turned around as she introduced the song she was singing, before she quickly started walking towards the able once again as the song started, so she could get a seat and hear the rest of the song. After dodging people who were coming and going from all different directions she finally made it to the table.

Lauren began looking around the place again as she listened to Angela’s singing, getting a view of what it looked like from where was sitting, until she became distracted by her bracelets which were all twisted together becoming one chunky bracelet. She quickly fiddled with them to make them all single once again. Then she looked over to Cody for a moment, why did he seem so bored when virtually everyone else was having a good time.

Lauren: "Hey… I’m Lauren."

She called across the table as Angela finished her songs for now. Maybe Cody was bored because he had no one to talk to. Well, Lauren knew she got bored when she didn’t have people to talk to. So the least she could do was try and proved some company for him, or something.

She knew the song Angela had chosen and at the same time knew she only had a scant few minutes left to be held in Riley's arms and then she'd have to be by herself again. She felt Riley pull her a little closer against him his cheek resting agaisnt the top of her head.

I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again

She had her eyes closed, her head pressing lightly against his cheast, when they were like this she could just pretent they were still going out with each other. It wasn't fair, how comes when she found someone she wanted to be with they got taken away from her straight away. Could it just have been two days ago when Riley had held her so tenderly in his arms and kissed her so gently. She lifted her head slightly so she was looking up at him.

She suddenly felt very sorry for him, they'd shared something so special and he couldn't remember that and she couldn't help pittying him. She'd rather remember it even if they were never together again rather than not remember something like that at all. Her head shifted it's position again to lie against his front once more, she sighed slightly dropping her hands from around his neck to around rest on his arms. Couldn't they just stay like this forever ....

"We should head back to the table with the others.." She lifted her head again, she hadn't even realised the music had stopped, her eyes dropped to look at his chest, she wanted to tell him how she felt and she just wanted to drop her head against his chest again, just to tell him that she would be there for him forever if he wanted her to be. He just needed to give her a chance to show him. But instead she let her arms slip from his arms to hang by her side, she nodded, turning and weeving her way back towards the table.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub - The Special School Dance
It felt sad to just watch her walk off, for a moment he thought she just might want to stay on the floor with him, even if Angela wasn't singing. But why would she.. she probably only danced with him because he wanted her to dance with him. Slowly he followed after her, watching her back for a bit, slowly dropping his eyes to watch her feet, he liked how she walked, what do her legs feel like? They looked so smooth and.. He would snapped his eyes away at his wondering thoughts, he felt very rude, very angry and upset with himself now, he didn't have a right to look or think of her like that!

Sitting down, his hand touching his cheek where it had rested against Catherine's hair before slipping off and letting his fingers curl around his glass. His eyes moved over towards Catherine's hands and then down at his drink, before staring over at Lauren and Heath who had taken a seat. Heath looked ready to faint, his eyes darting everywhere and hands covering his ears desperately, but Riley was too distracted to think of them right now.

Placing down his empty glass, Riley stared rather dully down at it, it wasn't fair.. it really wasn't, she was right there, why could she sit closer, why couldn't he hold her some more.. Why did she let him get close to her, it wasn't fair, she didn’t have a right to be the way she was, because he really liked who she was and he'd give anything for her to just want to hold him one more time.. To have her head against his chest like before.. to have her arms about him, to smell her, to hold her against him, to have her so close that there was nothing left of the world for him to register except the enjoyment of being with her..

Riley's eyes moved over towards her hands once more, but then they shifted to his empty glass and slowly down at his hands. He could still feel the warmth of her lips on the tips of his fingers, the feel of her skin, the soft touch of her hair.. he could feel everything, all lingering there, a taunting reminder what he's never going to be able to have..

Re: Dying Star Nightclub - The Special School Dance
She looked back to make sure he'd followed her before she sat down and looked around at the assembled people, she didn't recognise them, her eyes landing on Heath for a moment then drifting away. She took a rather nervous mouthful of her drink and looked over at Riley. It wasn't fair the way things had gone so akward again, just as she began to get used to him she'd go all like this again and not be able to talk to him.

Cat noticed his glass was empty, she owed him a drink didn't she? Her eyes flicked over to the bar for a moment and then back down at Riley again. She stood up quickly, her hand closing around her small bag as she lifted it off the top of the table. At least this would give her something to do so she wasn't sitting here with him in silence wondering if she dared hold his hand or wondering if he'd reject her advances if she did so. She hadn't finnished her own drink but it didn't matter to her, she could drink it once she got back.

'I errr. I'll be right back OK.' She assured him then before he had a chance to protest or ask her where she was going she slipped off between the chairs and people towards the bar. She only realised when she'd got there that she wasn't sure what he wanted, he'd drunk the last thing he'd had so in the end she settled for a diet coke for herself and a vodka, lime and leomade again for him, leaning across slightly to yell what she wanted at the bar man who was struggling to hear her. She unzipped her purse, noticing one of the bright lights glancing off something that was in the bottom of her purse. She stared at it rather hard for a long moment before she reached into the purse and pulled out the delicate chain with the diamond pendent.

She heard an appreciative whistle from in front of her, her eyes lifting to look at who ever had called out, the bar tender was looking at the chain she was holding in her hands. She looked down at the chain and then back up at him again.

'What!?' She snapped at him, she didn't like bar men, she'd not had particaularly good experiences with them in the past.

'Your necklace .... looks like it cost a pretty package.' He said as he poured her coke into her glass. She was lucky he hadn't asked her for I.D. since the legal age for drinking was 21.

'What'd you mean?' She said pulling the chain a little closer to her and looking at him over the top of the bar. He plonked the coke down and reached for another glass, turning away to add vodka to the bottom of the glass, then looking back again.

'Well diamonds are expensive you know.' He said adding lime cordial to the glass. 'And it matches the ones in your earings.' She seemed to baulk slightly ... diamonds, she'd just thought they were pretend ones and now she wasn't sure what to think. She stared down at the chain and pendent in her hand. 'Gotta have cost you a couple of hundred dollars.' A couple of hundred dollars? She winced at the thought, Riley shouldn't be spending money like that on her, but a tiny part of her was quite proud that he thought she was worth something like that. She could feel a type of panic building up inside her, what if she damaged them, she lifted a hand to each of her ears to make sure the earings were still there.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub - The Special School Dance
Catching only a part of her sentence, Riley stood as she disappeared into the crowd, looking rather upset for a second before hiding his expression and then staring rather blankly at Heath who had also stood, but was sitting down once again. Well it was polite manners for a Knight to stand when a lady leaves the table, Cody was staring rather keenly towards Angela as she arrived, basically ignoring Lauren, much to the displeasure of Heath. He was no gentlemen to turn his back to a lady as she spoke to him, but Cody gave Angela a kiss, which she seemed to have been taken by surprise on, Heath's hands covering his eyes once more.

Riley stared down at the table, then over at Lauren, she was much young then him, well.. what 5 years probably, it was still a bit for their age, when they're older it wouldn't seem that much different, but right now it was a pretty big difference for Riley. Dawn sat across from him, flashing Lauren a wide grin before calling out a 'hey' to Heath who didn't understand what she wanted and then asking Riley where Cat was, obviously not noticing Heath's confusion at why she was calling out 'hey' to him. Riley gave a shrug of his shoulders, she was probably off recovering from having to dance with him, she didn't look as if she wanted him to follow so why should he worry where she is?

He pouted slightly as he stared off towards the wall, anywhere but where Catherine might be seen, he didn't mean to make her uncomfortable. Maybe it was because he was holding her, or suddenly wanting to be closer to her, maybe she didn't like that. She had just lost someone and she had him staring at her, always looking at her, he hated himself for doing that, he was prying on her and he didn't have the right, he'd stop right now, he'd stop, he can stop...

Slowly began talking with Lauren eventually he had to lean slightly forward, it was very small talk at first, asking if he knew her, getting her name, then picked up his silver dog tags and held one for her to see incase she couldn't hear what he said.

"I'm Riley, Riley Finn." At least he didn't know her, made him feel a tiny bit better, an unfamiliar face because he's never met them before, not because he just can't remember them. He managed not to say much more after that, because Catherine had returned, causing Riley to looked over towards her, she had drinks in her hands. Why did she have drinks? He didn't understand.. was she upset he had gotten her drinks, or maybe she was just repaying him, he just offered her a smile as he looked up at her.. Her shy dark eyes peering down at him, her red dress standing out against the darkly dressed people that moved behind her.. He was sure if she said something, he couldn't hear, he was too distracted with other thoughts, his hands slowly reaching out for the drink she was offering her, both his hands wrapping around the drink.. clasping slightly over Catherine's fingers for a long moment before gently pulling the drink away. Her fingers where so warm and.. they felt smooth..

I believe
This is heaven to no one else but me
And I’ll defend it as long as I can be
Left here to linger in silence
If I choose to
Would you try to understand

Riley's attention shifted over to the girl who had been singing for a while now, he missed the first verse, but there was something distantly familiar about something she had said. He couldn't put a finger on it however, staring down at the strange drunk once more before looking over at Catherine and smiling once more.

I know this love is passing time
Passing through like liquid
I am drunk in my desire...
But I love the way you smile at me
I love the way your hands reach out and hold me near...
I believe...

"Thank you Catherine." He wasn't sure if she could hear him, but he was sure she understood what he had said, maybe he could dance with her again.. later.. maybe even if he waited she might ask him, if all the others went off to dance once more.. she might get bored enough to ask him.. Again he became slightly distant as he thought of how it felt to have his hands around her, to have her closely against him.. and how much he missed that now it was over.

I believe
This is heaven to no one else but me
And I’ll defend it as long as
I can be left here to linger in silence
If I choose to
Would you try to understand

His eyes shifted away from Catherine and over towards the singer once more, travelling down towards her hands, so small and delicate... He liked this song.. he liked how it sounded, he liked the music, her voice, the way she seemed to lost and sad yet at the same time hopeful and longing.

Oh the quiet child awaits the day when she can break free
The mould that clings like desperation
Mother can’t you see I’ve got
To live my life the way I feel is right for me
Might not be right for you but it’s right for me...
I believe...

His fingers moved to his temple, gently rubbing at it as if he was starting to suffer a headache, his mind moving away from the song and not hearing the words for a moment. 'I have to believe in certain things within this world..' Looking over towards Catherine, he had the strongest urge to ask what was the ending of that sentence, but it was so hard for them to talk in this environment.. he'll ask later..

I believe
This is heaven to no one else but me
And I’ll defend it as long as
I can be left here to linger in silence
If I choose to
Would you try to understand it

What does he have to believe? He wanted to know, he looked back over towards the girl singing, why couldn't all the sounds just stop for a moment.. Would Catherine know.. would any of them know.. what does he need to believe in.. he wants to know what he needs to believe in..

I would like to linger here in silence
If I choose to
Would you understand it
Would you try to understand

Riley had already managed to get through half his drink, it was hard not to drink when all he had to do was that, everyone seemed locked into their own talks or periods of silence. What would happen if he just leaned over and kissed her? Would she slap him.. tell him off, was it worth the risk of losing her? Angela leaned forward and yelled for Riley's attention shortly after Cody went off rather sulkily, Riley leaned forward as well, both meeting halfway across the table as Angela began talking with him.

You don’t remember me, but I remember you.
I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you.
But who can decide what they dream?
And dream I do.

Grinning slightly as Angela talked with him, he nodded along for a moment and then looking over towards Lauren as she continued to talk. He wasn't sure why she was asking him about having her join X-Force, he wasn't the leader right now, Sean was. But it felt nice to have someone wanting his advice on something, she explained his powers and Riley couldn't help but grow envious.. if only he could summon good luck upon himself.. But with every up there was a down, Lauren's luck powers where unstable, resulting with her mood at the time or moments before, good luck or bad luck occurring at a drop of a hat, both life saving as in Heath's situation, or life threatening.. as an incident in her past resulting in a group of her friends almost dying.

I believe in you.
I’ll give up everything just to find you.
I have to be with you to live, to breath...
You’re taking over me.

Riley glanced back at Catherine, a rather delighted look upon his face, for some reason he was growing more excited about the chance of running a team.. He was a soldier after all, having something military-like might help him fit better in this school.. and besides.. hadn't Catherine said she didn't like Sean as a leader or something? Maybe she'd like it better if he ran it.. not that he was trying to impress her.. nooo..

"I'm going to talk with Xavier tomorrow about taking back up that team leader position, I think I'm ready for it now, I'll talk about taking up my job as a tutor as well." His hand had rested lightly on her wrist, an earlier excuse to get her attention, but hadn't yet moved away and didn't seem willing to move his hand from her yet. He felt able, he could do this all, and maybe if he tried really hard to make himself a good member of Catherine’s school, then she might just begin to see something in him other then his ability to make her mad.. Glancing away and looking over towards Lauren, his fingers lightly remaining resting against the skin of her hand.. not holding her but the tips of his fingers still touching her hand.. Maybe she'd take hold of his hand.... he didn't want to ask her, but she had let him take hold of her hand in the limo when he had done this...

Can you know what I know and all we have.
You saw me mourning my love for you and touched my hand.
I knew you loved me then.

"Lauren!" Riley's voice called the girl just in the seat beside him, but he had to raise his voice to catch her attention. He tried hard to remember what Lisa and Catherine had told him about his lessons and such, was it 7 or 8 the training sessions for the team? He wasn't sure and just decided on finding out tomorrow and then he'd catch up with her later.

I look in the mirror and see your face, if I look deep enough.
So many things inside that just frighten you are taking over.

"We have practice tomorrow I think, I'll get the time and you come with us and we can all start our training together!" Angela had poured Heath a glass of Coke and Heath had almost chocked on the bubbles in shock, causing Riley to stare at the boy for a moment and then allowing his spare left hand to scoop up his drink, raising it to his lips.

I believe in you.
I’ll give up everything just to find you.
I have to be with you to live, to breath...
You’re taking over me.

The song was finishing and that was the only verse Riley had heard, Angela started fidgeting because she was on in another song or two. Max had booed her onto the stage and booed her off the stage, it was rather embarrassing, but if she complained then he'd only get worse. It hurt sometimes, not painful, but it was like a headache, these images would suddenly flood Riley's mind but none of them would make sense to him, or they'd be to hard to recognise what was happening in his memories. Again his fingers rubbed at his temples, then Max's loud voice was heard over the boom of music. Staring over towards the stone powered mutant, Max seemed to be having some form of drinking contest with another guy, obviously Max was winning because his friends where also calling out and cheering.

Tilting his glass towards him, Riley stared at the yet another emptied drink and then set it down on the table as he looked back over towards Max holding out his hand for the other boy to pay up after losing to him in the drinking contest. Angela grumbled at the group just a few tables away, but had to get ready for her own songs before she missed her turn.

Re: Dying Star Nightclub - The Special School Dance
She held out the drink to him rather shyly before she moved to sit down. She could feel his feel her skin tingling where his hands had touched hers for a long moment before he'd withdrawn the glass from her hands. She was glad he'd just taken the drink and not said anything, she didn't like to be in debt to people. She already owed most of her friends more money than she'd ever be able to pay them back and she didn't want to go down the same path with Riley.

"Thank you Catherine." She smiled slightly, glad he liked the drink she'd bought for him. She decided it was a nice feeling, to buy things for someone, she hadn't really had much experience of it in the past. She was usually quite selfish with her money, it was that it she was a selfish person but she didn't often have moeny so when she did, she liked to spend it on herself.

She wanted to talk to him, her hands almsot clutching the bag to her as if someone might just walk past and wrentch it from her hands. Just as she was about to speak though Angela leaned forwards to talk to Riley. Cat's hands nervously unzipped the bag, determined to talk to him at the next opportunity she managed to get. She looked down as he moved his hand to rest his fingers against her wrist, effectivley pinning her to the table since nothing would have induced her to move.

"I'm going to talk with Xavier tomorrow about taking back up that team leader position, I think I'm ready for it now, I'll talk about taking up my job as a tutor as well." She nodded, she'd rather Riley was the team leader rather than Sean, job? he was taking up a job? That was news to her, why hadn't he told her about that?

"Lauren!" Poor unfortunate Lauren recived a very "if looks could kill" glare, how comes he was talking to her and who the hell was she and how comes she was commanding more of his attention than she was and she was his date. If she could have puffed herself up angrily she could have done, if she'd been sure he liked her she wouldn't have been so parinoid but as it was she suddenly felt threatened by every woman in the room.

'Riley.' She said trying to call back his attention to her, her hand slipping into her purse. 'Riley.' Her hand lifted to his arm to make sure she got his full attention on her. 'Why did you put this in my purse, I already said I couldn't accept it.' Her fingers lifted to her ears, slipping the small gold and diamond studs from the lobes of her ears. Placing them on the table with the necklace and pushing them gently along the table towards him. 'I .... ummm .... the guy, he said, that they were diamond. I'll just loose them or something.' She felt really bad that he'd spent money on her, even if she did take them off him it was very doubtful if she'd ever have the nerve to wear them again, they'd just sit in her room in the box.

'Riley.' At first he hadn't caught her call, her voice drowned out in the loud thunder of music around them, but as she repeated her name, her hand resting on his arm, he stared over towards her rather cheerfully at the thought he was going to start and organise his life together starting tomorrow.

'Why did you put this in my purse, I already said I couldn't accept it.' His smile faded instantly as he watched her remove the earrings, staring down at them on the table and moving his arm away as she pushed them towards him.

'I .... ummm .... the guy, he said, that they were diamond. I'll just loose them or something.' She didn't need to lie, this was proof if he ever needed any, she just got annoyed with him. She could have just pulled her hand away, he could have known to stop, she didn't need to do that, he stared down at the gifts rather quietly for a while. Maybe he should just leave, right now, get up and walk out before this night got any worse, but could it drop any lower then this act of humiliation? Because what it felt like.. like a public rejection of his advances.. his arms felt heavy, they refused to move and his chest grew tight. Didn't she understand they where hers to do with whatever she wanted, to lose, to hide, to sell, to damage, to give away.. they where hers, he didn't care what she did with them..

"Then lose them, I don't care, as long as you remember I got them for you, I don't care what happens to them, they're not mine. You don't want them, fine, leave them, they're yours, so it's your choice." He rather sulkily got to his feet and pushed his seat in, stalking off rather broodily towards the bar. Obviously she didn't want anything to do with him, he goes to hold her hand and she throws all his gifts back in his face. Slumping into the stool, he didn't dare look back, she was probably glade he figured out she didn't want him around her.

Folding his arms over the bar, he then dropped his head down, why did she come with him if she was going to hurt him like this over and over again? He wanted to go back... he wanted to go back home, but where was his home, a stupid school for mutants or in another country with a family he can't even remember. Holding his tags in his fingers as he was slumped forward, staring at Catherine's name as if it was the name of a person he's spent the past years desperately searching to find. If she didn't want anything to do with him... then how dare she put her arms around him, how dare she smile at him... how dare she be near him and make him feel wanted.

Riley(about Catherine): Every time I look at her, it's like there's no one else in the room but us..

"Then lose them, I don't care, as long as you remember I got them for you, I don't care what happens to them, they're not mine. You don't want them, fine, leave them, they're yours, so it's your choice." He .... he didn't care .... why? She cared, she cared about them, about him, didn't he understand, people didn't buy her two hundred dollar presents .... they just didn't and it didn't seem fair, she didn't have two hundred dollars to buy him something in return. Couldn't he see that, if he bought her something she felt obligated to get him something in return and she couldn't compete with two hundred dollars. She was a bit worried however at what would happen when she'd spent the money in the bag she had with her, she'd still need things to buy wouldn't she? and if she didn't have any money then she couldn't go out anywhere if the rest of them went anywhere.

She watched looking extremley hurt as he got up and walked off without looking back once. How comes all her dates went wrong, something bad always happened, she hadn't meant to offend him but she didn't feel like she could accept his gifts and it would be wrong to take them wouldn't it. Cat knew he would be dissapointed as well if she did loose any of his gifts just as she'd be down if he lost anything she'd bought him. She stood up silently, not excusing hereself picked up the earings, necklace and headed off in another direction. Soon lost to sight in the milling crowd, heading towards the sign that flashed a neon pink colour advertising the girls toilets.

It was packed inside and she was jostled by a couple of girls before she managed to find an empty space by the sink. She looked across at her image, it didn't look like her staring back from the smooth surface of the mirror. Her eyes were sad, she hadn't realised he'd get so upset, but in hindsite she'd probably have felt stupid if Riley had said he didn't want a present she'd given him.

Maybe if she just put them on, for tonight he'd be happy, it was obvious nothing short of her ramming them down his throat would make him take them back, her fingers stroking over the diamond on the necklace. Surley she wouldn't loose them tonight and then she could just keep in the the box in her room where they would be safe, as she was thinking her hands were lifting to her ears to slip the diamond earings back in. Then she placed the necklace around her neck with the other one, it had been a birthday present for Lisa and she wasn't about to take that off either. Nina always wore lots of jewlery, so Cat didn't even think that wearing two necklaces in a place like this might be considered a little odd. She stretched a hand out to pull one of her curls out flat watching as if softly curled back into place.

Her hand reached down for her bag and landed on the countertop instead, she looked down and a second later felt a cold sensation hit the pit of her stomach, where was her bag? .... more to the point, where was Lisa's bag? She'd put it right there. The room was crowded and she knew that someone must have picked it up on their way out? .... someone had stolen Lisa's bag, her first thought was how was she going to tell Lisa? .... all her money was in there, it was suddenly very hard to breath, she seemed to have some sort of lump in her throat and she felt like throwing up. She wanted Riley's arms around her right now, she could feel tears pricking at the coners of her eyes.

She pushed the door open, her eyes sweeping over the crowds of assembled people in the main part of the nightclub, maybe someone had just picked it up by accident, everything seemed numb inside though. She could see Lisa back at the table ... she should really go and see her and tell her what had happened but she felt so quilty. There was loud noise all around her and people yet she didn't seem to notice either of them. What did you do when something like this happened? was there a lost bag place or something, she stood looking very lost for a long moment The crowds parted for a second and she caught a glance of Riley sitting at the bar with his back to her.

She didn't seem to be seeing anything anymore except him, her legs walked over to him as if there was nothing other than him and her in the room and he had no choice but to walk over to him. Her face seemed to break into pieces as she stepped up behind him, so when she slipped her arms around his waist and pressed her head against his back there were tears the soaked through the fabric of his shirt. She knew he wouldn't have been able to see her coming, and she didn't care at the moment if she had startled him or if he did try and push her away. She just knew she had to hold him at the moment becuase she was upset and it was his job to make her feel better, he was the only thing that could make her feel better at the moment.

"I like this." Jarod sounded like he was happy and that made her smile.

Mandi's face tilted upward and she opened her eyes to look into his. She could see that his nearvouseness was gone and that the sadness she had seen earlier in them had ebbed some. A little at least. Mandi wondered what had been the cause of his uplift of mood then the thought of maybe it was her came. She couldn't help but to smile from the thought of that.

" I like this too." She told him with another smile.

Having brought her attention to more than just the two of them, she heard the music that was playing and the song that was being sung. Mandi grew silent and began to look a little distant. She shook her head lightly to clear it. There was something about that song.... She paused for a moment as a whisper of a name came to her. It was barely there and she couldn't make it out... It gave her a slight chill though. She couldn't tell if it was good or bad though.

She closed her eyes for a moment then re-opened them to look a Jarod... But she didn't see Jarod for a moment.. It was someone else... His eyes weren't the same.. they were red and black.... And his hair wasn't the same either.... A trench coat..gloves.... She pulled away lightly and shook her head. It was Jarod again and she wa sglad to see it was him but that image of the other person made her feel like she needed to cry. She also felt terrified. Right now though, her eyes began brimming with tears for an unknown reason. Her chest became tight and the symbol on her upper cheek lit up intensely. She felt like there was a block of ice sittign inside her. Mandi quickly looked around to fid a ladies room not too far away then at Jarod...

" I.... I'm sorry.... I.. I need to.... I'll be back, Jarod...." She said quickly and regretfully before slipping away and running to the bathroom.
