Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
It had been a while since Aldrea had been the new girl. It was true what some people said about moving into a new place, though. You can be anyone you want to be. There are no old labels. This is when you can become the cool kid or the loner, if you want. Personally, the native American beauty preffered to be something in between. She liked being the girl with a bunch of friends, but preffered to have a group of close friends at the center of it all. It just made life easier.

At this moment, the new girl's amber gaze was centered on the exterior of the mansion that was to be her home for a while. She had just watched the cab that had brought her here drive away and was now wondering whether or not she could still catch the next flight back to Alabama. Usually, she was the bold one in her group of friends. However, it is easy to be bold when you have your friends to cheer you on. It is a whole different ball game when you're starting out on your own.

The ebony-haired beauty had one last look at her luggage to make sure she had everything before she checked herself in her compact. It hadn't been a bad flight, especially since she had been sensible enough to wear blue jeans and a cream quarter-sleeve sweater over a red sleeveless shirt. Birkenstocks helped too.

She had opted to keep her lovely wavy ebony hair down. Because she had a layered haircut, her wavy locks framed her lovely face. Add her olive complexion, some cherry red lipgloss, and you had a killer combination.

"Well, can't stand around here all day," she said to herself as she straightened the blue topaz moon on her white gold necklace.

So, with her luggage firmly in tow, Aldrea made it up to the front door and rung the doorbell. Now, it was time to wait and see who would come to the door. Would it be a guy? A girl? Who knew! Hopefully, though, it would be someone who would be patient enough with her to show her around and help bring in her luggage!

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
(I'll talk with Uz and see if he wants to dump Gambit here.. you haven't mentioned a date, so I'll force you into my timezone, mwuhahaha! Monday the 19th)

Late... the first day and he was going to be late!! Damn it, he fussed too much, the blue-eyed feral scolded himself for the tenth time as he hurried down the stairs. Chris would be furious, Monday classes were a nightmare and Connor hadn't handled them well at all, spending the last part of the day in one of the other dorm rooms with people from another team.. which had been a little awkward to say the least but he managed it better then the classes...

The young nine year old and wanted Connor to meet him right after classes and Connor instead went to their room to change and shower and he was supposed to be at the Rec Room to meet Arisa and Chris there. Of course Chris and Arisa could entertain themselves well enough but that wasn't the point, Connor made a promise he'd be there and he hated not keeping his word.

Swift and agile feet landed firmly on the floor as Connor leapt down the last few steps, his body readying to turn the corner before the chime of the school doors caught his delicate ears. Connor paused, his feet dragging to a stop as his head turned slowly to stare back at the large entrance way. A rather negative sigh came to his lips as he felt himself pulled back towards the doorways, wondering who on earth rang the bell instead of using their pin cards but he assumed maybe they were locked out.. or.. new!

A strong hand gripped the handle of the doors, both of them, something that wasn't commonly done, usually it was only one door people bothered to open but Connor felt energized and eager and he wanted to meet the kid as soon as possible! The creak in the doorway opened but his hand remained clutching the handles and barring her way, bright blue fluorescent eyes stared at her with a bland neutral expression that slowly warmed into a small smile as he noted her luggage.

"Evening." Short and to the point, amazingly enough he had improved a little lately, but he felt a little more secure in his family, even if his memories were a complete blank or blur. "Are you being expected?" Because if she was then someone would be sent to meet her, but if she was just dumped here then that was a whole different story. The nineteen year old wore brown leather boots which were scuffed on the toes, his jeans didn't look so new either as the knees looked as if it were fading and there was some ruffed patches as if he had scrapped himself, though for all anyone knew they could just be patterns. His t-shirt was nice fitting but not tight, a greyish blue tone with 'Walking a fine line..' written delicately in italics across his front, just a few shades lighter then his shirt so it wasn't so obtrusive.

Neatly trimmed stubble riddled his chin, the lack of shaving giving him a more matured look though he looked a might strange sight when he woke up unshaved and with ruffled hair. At least in his opinion, but he wanted to try for a new look and if his father could pull off the hairy side of things then maybe Connor could give it a go.... though on a much more tamed scale!

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
Aldrea hadn’t had to wait long. She had been drumming a tattoo with her French manicured fingers on her faded blue jeans. The manicure had been a present from her best friends before she had left Alabama. They had said that she could get them all greasy and dirty working on her gadgets after she got to the Institute and had explored the place. However, she was going to make a good first impression! It was at that moment that both of the solid front doors opened in front of her to reveal a gorgeous specimen of a guy framed in between. Her jaw about dropped as she surveyed the laid back guy in front of her. He had this rugged laid-back look going with a hint of neatness to it. Add in the startling blue eyes he was sporting and you had one handsome young man. It was then that she did the most embarrassing thing that you could do when meeting someone like him.

“Pinch me, I think I’m in love,” she said just above a murmur. It was then that she realized that she had not only thought that, she had said it! Her hand flew to her mouth as a blush spread across her lovely face.

‘Dear God!,’ the embarrassed mutant thought to herself, ‘Did I just say that out loud?! Please don’t notice! Please don’t notice!’ However she may wish he didn’t notice, she knew that reality bites and sometimes the things you wish people wouldn’t notice, do go noticed. Maybe, though, juuuuust maybe, she’d have a chance. Yeah, right; and she’s the queen of England!

“I-I think I’m being expected,” she said trying to make a little recovery, “I was approached by a representative in hopes of buying one of my inventions and I end up getting an invite here. Heh, go figure!”

‘Smoooothe,’ she thought to herself, ‘Now you sound like you’re bragging!’ However, she really wasn’t bragging. Aldrea was normally pretty modest. She knew that it took most people years to come up with the things that only took her a week to come up with. Everything was just easier when you could actually talk to the technology that is helping you to create your new invention.

However, you could think of tons of new inventions, technologies, and what-not, but there was nothing in the world that could truly save you from embarrassment. The only thing that could save you was yourself and even then, it was iffy! Maybe he would overlook this slip-up juuuust this once. If she was lucky, that is.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
A moment was allowed for the newest arrival to study him, everyone needed a chance to take in details of their new lives and peoples faces was just as important as the rooms and school itself. New and strange things were an every day occurrence for Connor as he attempted to settle down into the school he had grown up in. Many knew of him but few seemed to really know him as a friend and Connor wasn’t sure if that was his fault or not but he was willing to assume so since he seemed to be doing a lot better with people after his amnesia then before it. At least that’s the impression he got from others.

“Pinch me, I think I’m in love,” The delicate hearing of the feral mutant easily picked up the comment though it didn’t so easily sink in as the words were whispered. Considering Connor’s complete lack of relationships, and the one he had recently with Sarah was hardly able to be called such a thing, a lie in a lie and that itself more irritated him then the whole amnesia thing in most regards. Though no one liked being used or lied to or taken advantage off and all of that was done in just four days and he was still not very pleased with it, though as usual he pushed it aside and tried not to think of it more then he had to. A slight brow rose curiously trying to figure if she was talking to him or not, but logic determined she was and he smiled a little at the sweet comment. The son of the legendary Wolverine wasn’t one to blush so quickly but he was a modest individual and he never had someone so bluntly state a comment like that before, as far as he was aware no one had ever been interested in him and he’d only ever been on a single date before being involved with Sarah.

The girl seemed embarrassed by her own words so Connor remained quiet and patient, not feeling as uncomfortable as he would have had she started flirting openly and closely with eldest Enright, who preferred people were weren’t right out and in ones face about things. Especially where girls were concerned, he liked his private time and Connor wasn’t one to enjoy overly flamboyant teenage girls at all, especially the ones who shrieked and talked without pauses, his delicate senses would never allow him to tolerate such verbal abuse anyway.

“I-I think I’m being expected,” The girl finally managed to continue, Connor’s arms relaxed slightly but still barred her way, it was always hard to gain the trust of an Enright, even if Connor could literary sense if the person was lying or not but listening and even smelling the changes that occurred in the others body. After all, some people were very clever, they could control these things, no, only actions really proved things to the Enright’s and it wasn’t something that was entirely learned as they grew up, but something that was more instinctive with them. While he wanted to be polite to people he didn’t want to open up to them right away and every friend had to earn their place at his side and he expected nothing less in return with his friendship to them. Everything had to be earned… “I was approached by a representative in hopes of buying one of my inventions and I end up getting an invite here. Heh, go figure!” Usually that’s how it worked from what Connor was rediscovering of the school system, they couldn’t just publish all this for people to know, they’d have to sneak about discreetly and recruit people with as much secrecy as possible. Inventions sounded interesting though, Connor looked over her appearance but wasn’t fooled by anything, he could see right into her capabilities as far as her mutant gene was concerned and he could see how the use of her powers could help push her creative output where machines were concerned.

It wasn’t so hard for the feral to tell the young woman was betting herself up about something, he wondered if it was still about the earlier comment that she made, though he was hardly someone to bring it up and risk making any sort of issue from a slip of the tongue. Although Connor wasn’t always the greatest when it came to words, he was always skilled with actions, and he made sure that what he felt or wanted to express came through with the actions he preformed. A casual smile was offered as one hand dropped away and motioned her inside, another reaching for the panel beside the door and his fingers pressing down the main button.

"Good evening, I’ve got a new arrival waiting down here, she says she’s possibly being expected, is someone on their way?" Connor reframed from mentioning his name on perhaps because he’s already referred to himself as James a few times today and he decided to try and not call himself by name until ‘Connor’ slipped more easily off his own tongue. The voice on the other side asked them to wait a moment as they checked the records and shortly after announced that Mr LeBeau was supposed to meet a new student at that time by the name of Aldrea, Connor glanced at the other with his flaming blue eyes and then was told by the young man at the security desk that he’ll call Remy LeBeau immediately. There was a short pause while he made the call and then the males voice assured them that Remy had been in his office and was on his way down right away.

"Ok, thanks, I’ll wait here until his arrival." Looks like Chris and Arisa would have to wait a little longer, the feral reluctantly thought as he decided to not leave her on her own, he’d call Arisa but it might appear a little rude if he did so instead he decided to hang around, he could always call when his Uncle arrived. While Connor had little memory of the guy, Remy seemed to know Connor well, this much was obvious from the previous day when Remy had dropped by to see how Connor was doing. The guy seemed alright, more then just ok, everyone seemed to be referred to as Uncle and Aunt around here though, and Connor wasn’t sure if he should address them as such in front of others or if it was more a ‘behind the scenes’ thing to do. For now he’ll just call them by their introduced titles and wait until he was told off… after all… he liked the idea of having a big family and this most definitely gave off the illusion. There was a pause of thought from Connor as he went over his name carefully and then offered another one of his once rare smiles to the new girl. A relaxed voice came now as he was assured that she was meant to be here, a more welcoming air about him as he allowed her full access to the hall.

"Connor Enright." He didn’t hold out his hand, though he placed it against his chest briefly to show he was referring to himself. Physical contact was a very personal thing and he wasn’t so good with people touching him just as poorly as he was with touching others in general, it was more of a personal space thing then anything else… He just liked his space… and he always felt uncomfortable when people invaded what little space he felt he had. Being claustrophobic may have had something to do with his discomforts but even that aside he still liked his space.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
The pen scribbled over the paper’s surface, its metallic tip making scratching sounds as it completed letter after letter in rhythmic harmony. Never having been a fan of his own handwriting, Gambit absently wondered how anyone could ever find it appealing. It was one of the few things he didn’t seem to have any control over, and it was one of the only things which made him feel somehow less than perfect. Sure, he was extremely easy on the eyes and a born charmer, but this same fact didn’t translate well onto paper. In fact, now that he thought of it, it made him seem somehow abhorrently normal. This, above everything else, was something he avoided on all costs.

Today something important was supposed to happen. Although he had forgotten what it was, the fact that he had chosen to wear formal shirt and trousers hinted at some sort of public interaction. Carrying the sky blue shirt with effortless class, the Cajun had even trimmed off some of the excess stubble for this day. Remy must be meetin’ someone. He don’t normally be goin’ formal like this. Tapping the writing device absently on the oak desk, Gambit wondered if the appointment was with Jean or with someone he didn’t know. It was odd how he had begun to forget little details here and there, and had even been recommended a day planner. Gambit don’t need no planning device, he had scoffed, Remy can ‘member things just fine, merci.

Letting his ruby red eyes flicker to the clock, he noted the time without avail, and nothing jogged his mind. He let the pen drop to the surface of the table and ran a hand through his wealth of hair. At one time it had been an amazingly vivid rust colour, but now, after so many years, Remy noted how it had slowly grown streaks of grey. It was odd in the sense that he never really picked up how old he had gotten. Still lean and impeccably fit, it didn’t show on the outside, but he could feel old age seeping from within. His charm, his infectiously reckless smile, they were all still there. More importantly, he still had the same effect on women he did over twenty years ago. But even then, he could feel something missing inside.

His thoughts were distracted by the sudden beep of his desk phone. Line one, administration. He pressed the speaker button and was promptly informed that he had been assigned to receive a new student that afternoon. He was also informed that the student had arrived and was waiting for him at the front doors. Clicking the intercom off, he swore in French and mentally chided himself. Yah aint looking’ pretty for just yerself, Gumbo. Rising from his chair, he leafed though his papers and found the stats of the new student. Hawk, Aldrea. Sounds like a doll already. Grinning brilliantly to himself, he tucked the papers into his shirt pocket and proceeded down the hall.

If anything spoke volumes about the Cajun, it was definitely his walk. Perfected down to an art, he carried himself with such effortless panache, that it drew most eyes to him instantly. His slender frame and controlled movements made his walk seem to agile, so feline, so totally enchanting that it made his already charismatic personality infinitely more magnetic. Coupling that with the magnificently disarming smile he sported, the charmer seemed to be prowling in his natural territory. He rounded a few hallways and descended down a flight of stairs before reaching the main entrance, his easy smile both warm and welcoming.

The first person he spotted was Connor and the smile instantly grew more genuine. Remy had a sincere liking for the boy, and although he was slow on the rebound with his amnesia, Remy had seen progress and was proud. In fact, the Cajun had even gone and visited the boy earlier. Re-establishing bonds was always a difficult and painful process, but there was fight in the boy, and Remy admire red him for that above all. His eyes then turned to the girl, the smile changing from one of camaraderie to one of seductive appraisal. “Hey there! I’ll be guessin’ you’re Aldrea. Nice to meet ya” Even though he spoke with a heavy Cajun accent and sounded slightly uneducated, there was a raw attractiveness to his voice. It was deep, sensuous, and obviously meant to charm. “I sincerely hope you can forgive an ol’ man”

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
So, he had a name to go with his handsome looks. That was good. At least he hadn't mentioned the slight outburst she'd had at first. That could have been awkward. She wasn't even sure if he had heard it. However, she could have sworn he had smiled right after her comment.

'Hold it together, girl,' Aldrea thought to herself, 'You're not out of the woods yet!' As she thought that, she managed to regain her composure a little. The Native American beauty really was a bit more outgoing than this, but when you kind of let yourself slip at first, you're allowed to be shy.

"Oh! Um, I guess you already know my name now," she said as she remembered she hadn't introduced herself, "However, here it is again! The name's Aldrea Hawk. Just flew in from Alabama. Nice to meet you, Connor"

She understood why someone wouldn't want to shake hands. Not many teenagers actually shook hands when meeting someone these days. That is, they really only ever shook hands with someone when they wanted to make a good impression or something. So, it really didn't bother her when he didn't offer his hand. She probably would have shaken it overly long anyway, thus embarrassing herself even more. That would have been really bad!

It was then that a man with slightly greying hair came down the stairs. To her, he seemed like a slightly younger Sean Connery with a Cajun accent. His walk, his talk, and especially his good looks all screamed disarming charm. They also told you that maybe you should watch out. The charmers always seemed to be the type you had to be cautious with; otherwise they'd take your heart faster than you could spit.

However, Aldrea didn't really know all this. She was a teenager who didn't have the experience that would tell her all this information. In fact, the southern belle was a very trusting person who believed the best of people. It was her and her family's hope that she could keep her sweet nature even if she stayed here away from her roots. She may have been a transplant to Alabama, but already she felt it was her home. We'll see how she turns out though. Only trial and tribulations can determine how the Alabamian turned out. Right now though, she had to respond to Mr. Lebeau!

"I think I can forgive ya just this once," she said with a grin, "Though, I don't see why you'd call yourself old. My grandmother always said she was as old as she felt. Even so, most people felt that she was a 13 year old on crack trapped in an adult body when she was alive!"

It occurred to her that perhaps she had just made him feel a bit older than she had intended. After all, she had only meant to point out that he wasn't really that old. However, her comment was open for interpretation as all comments are.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
"Oh! Um, I guess you already know my name now," Connor knew her first name, so she could still introduce herself, he didn’t like people who didn’t introduce themselves, it was manners and it also important considering he was trying to get to know all the people all over again. The less folks he referred to as ‘that girl with the short hair’ or ‘the really skittish fella’ and the like the happier Connor would be. "However, here it is again! The name's Aldrea Hawk. Just flew in from Alabama. Nice to meet you, Connor" A content look settled quickly on Connor, his attention on her brightening as he assessed what she said, liking the information that was just enough but no too much, giving him a sense of knowledge without dragging him into any personal chit chat that required an equal sharing of information.

Thudding feet were heard long before Aldrea’s eyes moved to watch the summoned teacher descend the stairs, Connor’s body shifted one her gaze moved off him and the blue-eyed feral looked also towards Gambit, moving aside so not to stand between them. There was a comfort, despite knowing there was a past Connor shared with this older man, they had at least spent some time together and there was something of a much older big brother, or something strangely similar, perhaps more like a step big brother, but as far as Uncles go Uncle Remy was definitely the black sheep so far. All others had a sense of authority about them and yet with Gambit it seemed Connor could get away with anything and goof around and it helped ease him back in with Remy despite the awkwardness Connor felt in general about meeting people he couldn’t remember.

The elder man was smiling and Connor pleasantly enough returned a smile, something that was proving more common now compared to previously, he hadn’t smiled a whole lot since his mother died and even then it seemed to be a small and strangely saddened smile. Another thing that seemed to be a shift in habit was Connor’s willingness to actually be more actively involved outside his own room or the danger room, even if it was just with family at the moment he was making an effort, though the morning had not gone well the evening was improving definitely.

“Hey there! I’ll be guessin’ you’re Aldrea. Nice to meet ya” The words spilled from Remy’s lips and the sounds pummelled hard against Connor’s sensitive ears, but the feral, as always, put on his neutral expression that was signalling his attempt of trying to dampen the sounds but as always failing and causing him an often unseen or overlooked discomfort. “I sincerely hope you can forgive an ol’ man” Uncle Remy continued and Connor glanced over to the girl, discreet sighs showed the feral that she found Remy enticing and yet Remy himself was simply being him charming self, despite how it may look half the time, Remy wasn’t really out to pick up every student that crossed his path, he may be a ladies man but he had his limits which weren’ so easily crossed.

"I think I can forgive ya just this once," Aldrea replied and Connor kept his silence, feeling awkward as he stood there, yet liking the fact he was getting to see his uncle again. Dazzling blue spheres hovered from one to the other, lingering over them and studying their personal trade marks, their scents, their sounds, all so unique in some ways and common in others, it was a melody of their individuality and with it he could learn so much about them. "Though, I don't see why you'd call yourself old. My grandmother always said she was as old as she felt. Even so, most people felt that she was a 13 year old on crack trapped in an adult body when she was alive!" A grandmother? Did Connor have a grandmother? Well obviously he would, but was she alive? Logan was very old and outlived any humans he was born to by now so Connor figured his parents and grandparents from that side were long gone. But what of his mothers side? Maybe he’ll ask later…

"Mr LeBeau is the language teacher, but he also teaches acrobatics, he’s pretty spry." Ok, honestly Connor can’t remember seeing Remy in action but Madison had talked about it and just by the way Gambit walked on could tell the red eyed man could hold his footing just about anywhere. Connor looked at the greying man with a proud glint in his eyes before moving out to grab up Aldrea’s belongings. "But just in case he has a relapse of forgetfulness, I’ll help and tag along, don’t want you getting lost with him on your first day." There was a playfulness there for sure, one that was all too common for the Enright’s, who seemed to thrive of their humour, albeit a dry or sarcastic one most of the time, but at least it helped them lighten their moods when little else was able to do the trick. Connor wanted to tag along, he was told more then once he used to help guide students to their rooms all the time, he was just as permitted to allow them in and help them get settled as any teacher, just like a few of the student teachers or students who had been allocated team positions were sometimes used if all others were busy. If Connor went through the procedure with others a few odd times he’d feel more at ease next time someone popped up and needed assistance, instead of disturbing a teacher he’d offer to call in and take the new arrival himself, one thing that never changed was that Connor always thrived off helping others, especially family, and X-men were family, even if they were only just arriving!

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
The thought, ‘I’d much rather get lost with you’ flitted across Aldrea’s mind, causing her to grin a bit. She would never say that aloud. Then again, she had thought she’d never say what she had said to Connor when he’d first opened the front door! However, that didn’t mean that she would do it again. She hoped.

“I guess you could tag along,” she said with a twinkle in her amber gaze, “The more the merrier! That is…If it’s okay with you, Mr. LeBeau?” She realized at the last moment that the teacher might wish for Connor to scurry to class or something. However, from the way they interacted, she had a feeling that they were really close. Perhaps they were even close enough to where Mr. LeBeau could look the other way? Anything was possible when you start a new school. Old rules don’t always apply in new places.

‘Don’t assume, girl,’ the Native American sweetheart thought to herself, ‘Connor may just be trying to be polite to you. He might have a girlfriend to hurry off to meet.’ A frown marred her lovely features for a fraction of a second before her features turned back to neutral.

‘You’re here to learn more about your powers, get a good education, and maybe make a few friends along the way,’ she thought to herself, ‘Now, today’s your first day. You just need to get through it and then you’ll be good. Maybe.’

Sure, she was here for all those reasons, but it didn’t hurt to add ‘dating’ to her list of things to do while she was there. She just had to keep in mind that she couldn’t jump at every guy that came her way; even if they did have piercing blue eyes that seemed to see straight into her soul, rugged good looks, and a pleasant voice.

“So, what’s first on the list of things to do when dealing with a new arrival?” she said with grin, “I’m sure that there’s a few quick things that we can get out of the way. What do ya say?”

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
It didn’t take heightened senses to understand Aldrea’s crush on Connor. If anything, the girl was positively enthralled by the young feral. Dat would be de mother’s charm. De father, on de other hand, now he aint exactly a charmer, but bless ‘im for fatherin’ all dem childrens. Connor ‘ere is shaping’ up nice an’ good. An’ he aint too bad wit dem ladies, neither. Grinning, Remy shook his head and turned to the two. “Now, now Miss. Hawk. We aint technically goin’ for one of dem conventional tours, coz frankly, dey is quite borin’,” he said, flashing her a set of perfect teeth. “A nice lookin’ girl like yorself deserves somethin’ much better.”

With that said, Remy began walking down the main hallway towards the stairs. Connor was, of course, welcome to tag along. If anything, Remy wanted the boy to develop stronger social skills with the students. His progress had been astounding, but there was definitely a lot of work which still needed to be done. Remy had personally taken it upon himself to look out for the boy, and if anything, their bond had grown stronger since the incident. Jus’ you hol’ on, boy. Everyting will be back ta normal real soon.

“Mademoiselle Hawk, if it be pleasin’ ta you, we’ll first stop by yor dorm suite and den we’ll head off on our grand tour.” he ascended the stairs slowly, as if taking the time to familiarize himself with each step all over again. Turning slowly, his blazing eyes on Aldrea, Remy gestured to the stairwell and nodded. “Dis here is de main stairs. If ya orient yorself ta it, de stairs make a great startin’ point from which ta ‘xplore de mansion.”

Ooc: Im having a terrible case of writer’s block…so this will have to do. Im sorry.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
“I guess you could tag along,” Great, Connor may not be pleased with his limited circle of friends but that didn’t mean he couldn’t make an effort to increase that circle now, just because he kept his social life restricted to a high degree before his kidnapping didn’t mean he couldn’t change his habits now. “The more the merrier! That is…If it’s okay with you, Mr. LeBeau?” A glance was offered over to LeBeau, though Connor’s startling gaze didn’t remain on him, it shifted back and forth for a moment and then settled on the girls luggage.

“So, what’s first on the list of things to do when dealing with a new arrival?” That was a good question, taking them to their room Connor assumed, he figured after that there was an invite to the dinner hall or the rec room, a sort of offer to take them somewhere and spend some time together. Connor had to go on a tour just before and he usually didn’t like walking around, he preferred finding a comfortable place and sitting there, that was one of the things that still remained true, though he was keen on seeing the school… just not all at once. “I’m sure that there’s a few quick things that we can get out of the way. What do ya say?” Sounded as if she too was hoping for something nice and simple in the way of a tour, in any case, if the tour went too long Connor could always bow out and continue on his way. He’d still have gotten familiar with the newbie enough to walk up to her and say hey or offer a passing smile, at the moment that’s how it felt with almost everyone who he knew outside of his family.

“Now, now Miss. Hawk. We aint technically goin’ for one of dem conventional tours, coz frankly, dey is quite borin’,” Enthusiasm flashed in Connor’s eyes as he looked over at Remy again, seeming pleased with the hope of a more interesting tour. “A nice lookin’ girl like yorself deserves somethin’ much better.” A curious stare was given to Remy as he addressed the girl, it seemed charms had no boundaries for him, be it with a married woman or a younger student. It seemed… odd. But as long as Remy didn’t act or take advantage on the young girls who were swooned by such talking, then Connor had no problems with his uncle.

Without any signal that Remy didn’t want Connor joining, the feral correctly assumed he was welcomed and he gave Aldrea a friendly glance before he helped take her luggage and followed after Gambit.

“Mademoiselle Hawk, if it be pleasin’ ta you, we’ll first stop by yor dorm suite and den we’ll head off on our grand tour.” The feral’s strength made easy work of her things, the added weight not seeming to effect the effortless strides which had him glide up the stairway, hovering beside Remy only for a moment before he moved ahead a few steps. “Dis here is de main stairs. If ya orient yorself ta it, de stairs make a great startin’ point from which ta ‘xplore de mansion.” Wolverine’s son always seemed anxious to get from one place to another, he liked taking things slowly but at the same time there was a contradiction where it seemed as if he didn’t like to waste time dawdling. His mood was up and down today, and he had been really upset earlier, the entire day had been spent out of class after the first period misshape and he had managed to improve a little and feel somewhat content. Habitually Connor did tend to ignore what bothered him and bottle it up inside, leading to a few blow outs over the years, though the older he got the fewer and far between they were.

"In other words, remember the stairs, they’re the perfect point to get lost from," Connor grinned a little at Gambit though stepped further back as the elder man reached the top of the stairs, falling in line just a few feet behind Remy. "So you make things, an inventor right?" Connor asked, a little awkward from the raw skills he possessed with striking conversation, the vibrant eyes flickered from the girl to the back of Remy’s heels as they walked. "You’re powers must make it easier, they look like they compliment that sort of thing." Sometimes Connor forget that just because he knew what others could do didn’t mean others knew he knew…He’d put a few off by stating his knowledge of their powers and sometimes neglected to mention he could read their x-gene, leaving some to wonder how much people were knew about them.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
The stairs. Riiiight. The young inventor was very good at retaining technical info, but sometimes she just couldn't retain everyday info. Her friends used to joke with her about just recording everything and reviewing them all later. Well, this seemed to be a good place to start. Only, she thought she could remember the stairs. Easy enough, right?

It was during their pause on the stairs that Aldrea unswung her backpack and took out her wrist computer. To everyone else, it looked like a stylish watch. That, however, was only due to the stealth mode she had installed. Like an image inducer, this baby could project any semblence she wanted. Right now it just looked like any other blue banded wrist watch with the chinese symbol for luck on the face.

The lovely Native American quickly put on the wrist computer and hit a button on the side, nonchalantly. It looked as if she was checking the time, but as of that moment, the computer was recording the tour so that she could convert the data to a map later on.

A grin lit up 'Drea's sweet features as she caught the comment Connor had just said in response to Mr. LeBeau showing off the stairs. She then blinked in surprise when the feral mutant mentioned the fact that she was an inventor.

'Did I mention that initially?,' she thought quizzically before remembering that she actually had said something earlier when she was trying to recover from her initial outburst, 'Waitaminute-Did he just say that it complimented my powers?! How did he-Who?!'

A quick recovered smile later and the young Southern belle was able to answer, albeit in a very surprised manner. "I didn't realize that I had said anything about my powers," she said slowly, "Usually that particular explanation takes about ten minutes what with people's questions and such. But, yes, my power does help a lot."

She wanted to explain how intoxicating it could be to be able to have a direct feed to any info you could want to know. With a thought, she could feed directly into any electronic and get information from it faster than some other person could type their name.

Then there was the building. So long as she had her imagination, she could build just about anything. Of course, she had limits. She wasn't going to build a nuclear weapon for the heck of it or some machine that could tear a hole into the fabric of space and time. That could be disasterous. She was all for building programs that might enhance the average person's everyday life, though.

She couldn't, however, convey this to Connor in one encounter. If he had questions, she could answer them, but at the moment, she didn't know how to begin to describe it all. Well, maybe if she started out with something simple.

"I didn't really get into inventing right away," she began, "My dad works on computers. So, I knew how to put together parts of our computer at an early age. It wasn't until after my power showed up that I started getting more interested in working with computers and stuff."

Really, her curiousity had gotten her in trouble at an early age. What with her always taken apart the appliances and such to see how they all worked, it was then that her father set aside a small space in his workshop to play with old appliances and such.

Later, he started showing her how various computer parts were put together until she understood why each part was important. From there, she learned to put together an actual computer. It was around that time that her power had started to blossom, allowing her to learn things at a much faster rate now that she could actually interact with the computers around her father's workshop to actually get what her father was teaching her right away. It was then that her dad found out about her power and started to help her figure out as many of her capabilities as possible.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
Gone were the days when mutants had simple powers. When Remy could first remember finding out about the existence of other ‘freaks’ like himself, he could also clearly remember their powers and how they distinguished themselves from everyday humanity. The first mutants were the ones with grave physical defects and flaws. The ones you could stop in the streets and point to as a textbook case of mutation. Even if they weren’t powerful, even if they only had green skin, they were considered the worst of the lot. These were also the mutants who fell prey to the initial paranoia. Many fled to the sewers, and they considered themselves as lucky. The ones who stayed and fought for their right to live were also the ones to be taken into custody and experimented by science on.

And yet, somehow, there will still others whom mutation had worked on more secretively. They were the star athletes of the world with their uncanny reflexes and enhanced stamina. They were your teachers and intellectuals; the ones who seemed to know everything and could compute the most complex equations and puzzles into seemingly rational and simple answers. But even still, there were others whose mutation, although unapparent, could bring about destruction with their control over simple matter and the elements. These were the ones, with their hidden talents that soon became the subject of increased witch-hunts in the less liberal areas of the U.S, and the world at large.

Every child was suspect and everyone was on the look out for signs of difference or mutation. Being called a mutant became the worst insult one could face. But even then, there was the fascination, and with it, the jealousy. Mutant rights, human rights, the right to exist. It all became a flashpoint to rally the faithful and gain power. The world had begun to head down a dangerous path. One with sides based not on creed or political affiliation, but on whether you thought someone was human or not. It all became relative and mutants became some sort of a phenomenon with no one really understanding what tribulations a child had to go through when someone found out that he had grey skin or eyes that could spew fire.

And now even more talents were being discovered. Back when computers weren’t invented or were confined to labs and factories, one could live a whole life thinking he or she was normal. But now, with technology, came the mutants who could use this technology much in the same way Storm could use the weather and the Professor could use the human mind. It was beautiful, Remy reasoned. De more of us dere are, de less of dem te poin’ fingers. Smiling as the two exchanged conversation, the fire-eyed Cajun couldn’t help but notice how easily she was settling in. Her powers were something to be admired and in this day and age, with technology growing exceedingly quickly, who knew how useful she could be?

“Alrigh’ you two. We aint gone spend all day here talkin’ bout de stairs. De mademoiselle still needs te see her room” His voice was playful and there was clear humour in it. It was nice to see Connor trying his hand at jokes. In Remy’s experience, when someone could easily joke amongst others, that person was opening up. And if Connor had anything that he needed to work on, it was being able to be at ease amongst those who honestly meant no harm. So, smiling as he turned, the Cajun began to gradual show the newcomer whatever he found was necessary knowledge. “Know where de bathrooms are, cherie. It ain’ pretty when yeh see a younglin’ come sprintin’ down dese halls screaming for de potty” he said with a hearty chuckle. “dere’s an accident jes’ waitin te happen!”

And soon they were outside the room which had been allotted to her. “Well, ah’d always like te show a nice young lady like yerself into a room, but for de sake of my neck, I’ll jes’ let you open de door”

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
"I didn't realize that I had said anything about my powers," The comment caused Connor to mentally withdraw slightly as he realized that he was talking about her abilities as if they were introduced to him. Granted Connor didn’t see the problem in letting on he knew their powers but that was mostly because he grew up in the school, everyone had some sort of power or mystery to them, otherwise they’d not be here! But now that he had a clean slate and lived outside the school walls for a few days with humans Amlarie who was fretful of people discovering who she was, Connor understood now that being different was often a sore spot and sometimes people needed to open up instead of having some stranger dragging out their ‘secret’ as if it was so obvious to everyone around them.

"Usually that particular explanation takes about ten minutes what with people's questions and such. But, yes, my power does help a lot." The young woman didn’t appear too disgruntled by his comment and Connor relaxed a little, which in itself was odd as the feral usually pulled away entirely, preferring to keep his distance at any hint of possible confrontation. It was more a triggered reflex from his childhood since whenever people did get angry, with him or around him, then most often his temper had caused Connor to lash out defensively. Half the time his mother calmed him down but when she died then it seemed Connor was forced to control himself to a degree he’d never faced before and that had been too much. Instead he learned to shut himself away, not risk a temper rising and avoid life’s problems…sadly resulting in him avoiding life itself really.

"I didn't really get into inventing right away," Intense blue eyes focused on the girl, whose skin was a darker shade, a natural tan with a soft glow to it that most woman aimed to achieve through various activities varying from beach going to tanning salons. "My dad works on computers. So, I knew how to put together parts of our computer at an early age. It wasn't until after my power showed up that I started getting more interested in working with computers and stuff." That made sense, everyone needed a reason to devote themselves to something, sometimes the reasons didn’t seem so obvious or special, but other times it made perfect sense and this was one of those times in Connor’s opinion. Until he used her powers Connor couldn’t honestly say he understood all the effects that he felt he could achieve, but at the same time he had an understanding for her abilities and as always he wished to explore these knew and different talents that he suddenly found within his grasp.

“Alrigh’ you two. We aint gone spend all day here talkin’ bout de stairs. De mademoiselle still needs te see her room” Bright sea blue eyes turned to Gambit and the young man fixed his grip on the luggage handles which he held as he followed along behind Remy. As they walked Connor grew more like his old self and remained rather non-talkative, not intentionally but he didn’t want to disturb the tour Aldrea was being given and what if he distracted her too much and she was utterly lost because of her lack of focus on the walk to her room?

“Know where de bathrooms are, cherie. It ain’ pretty when yeh see a younglin’ come sprintin’ down dese halls screaming for de potty” A curious gaze seemed settled on Connor’s own expression as he hadn’t yet walked down the student dorm halls before, he’d only even hanged around the family apartments and once snuck along after the students who went to the team dorms and he hadn’t stayed long there at all. “dere’s an accident jes’ waitin te happen!” Although unnoticeable to the others, Connor could pick up the strong scent of disinfectant from the mornings clean of the bathroom, even with the morning and evening wash downs of the bathrooms Connor could never bring himself to enter the toilets in the student hallways. The scent of females wafted in these halls, along with their hair and make up products and their perfumes, dear god, and on top of that the body spray which went on so thick and heavy.

Gambit’s footsteps seemed to slow to a stop, and Connor glanced at the door which was obviously the new girls allocated room. A thin small golden plaque with italic numbers written in black, with a nearly engraved name carved onto it depicting it’s new occupants whole name. At least if she couldn’t remember the number right away she’d definitely spot her door now that it had her name on it.

“Well, ah’d always like te show a nice young lady like yerself into a room, but for de sake of my neck, I’ll jes’ let you open de door” And again with the flirty comments, Connor wondered if there was ever any meaning behind it because it seemed strange to talk like that to other students but Connor had seem him doing it with some of the female staff as well so… it appeared all part of his personality. Still Connor was never one to find comfort in that sort of openly flirtatious nature, hence the devastating ending to his first date when the girl went a few steps too fast for Connor’s pace. Granted it had been a few years ago but Connor was always shy and hesitant with these things and a very personal and private person, the incident put a stop on any further adventures of that kind until just recently, which had yet again been a sour experience.

Maybe he could get away with not entering the room, though he was holding some of her stuff so he had to, he couldn’t just leave them in the hall.. he’d go in last then, see where Gambit deposited his bag and then follow suit and make a not too obvious retreat back to the door way.

‘Nope,’ Aldrea thought to herself, ‘Not gonna touch that comment with a ten foot pole.’ An embarrassed blush formed across her pretty face as she opened the door, a smile of delight reaching her eyes as she saw how big the room was. Her room at home had been an okay size, but this room was huge! She felt like she’d hit the jackpot. It was then that the Southern beauty remembered that Remy and Connor were still there and probably watching her.

“Wow,” she said as she walked in and let her backpack slide onto the bed. It was all she could say. The mansion was enough to inspire awe, but to think that all this was her own while she went to school here! It was unbelievable.

An inventory of all that she would need to make this place her haven was made. Her parents had promised to send her television and desktop and such in a few days. They had also said they’d send a few of the bulkier parts that wouldn’t fit in her suitcase to her as well. While she was sure that the Institute could supply her with all the parts she could wish for, she didn’t necessarily want them to go broke trying to supply her with everything she needed. Besides, she had some excess things that she was dying to try out in an invention or two.

The Native American noticed how Connor hung back as Mr. LeBeau and he deposited her luggage in the room. Perhaps he was shy about other people’s spaces. She could understand this. Besides, she didn’t want to stay here long. She had a tour to finish and the teen beauty was eager to see more. She could unpack her things later.

“So, where to now?,” she asked with a grin as she headed out the door, only pausing to run her fingers over the plate with her name on it on the door, “This place is huge and I aim to make the most of this tour.”

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
The room really was lavish. Looking in, Remy wondered how he had been given something pretty much like it. The Professor seemed to be loaded, and at times, the mansion seemed more hotel-like than a boarding school for children. Smiling as the girl’s pretty face registered the awe, Remy entered only briefly to place the bag next to the bed. Behind him, Connor seemed to lack the same ease. The young feral was quick, and the fire-eyed mutant couldn’t help but chuckle. The way he deposited the luggage and was outside again seemed prodigious and Remy couldn’t help but wonder if Connor thought the room – or perhaps the girl in it – was somehow made of flame.

He waited with Conner in the doorway while Aldrea took in the sights and smells of what would be her room for a few years. Seemingly deciding to unpack at a later time, the girl soon returned with eager eyes. Apparently the tour wasn’t over, and by the way she spoke, Aldrea seemed ready to see every inch of the mansion. “Well, ah’d love te show you de entire school an’ bestow ye wit mah wisdom, but I’ve really got ta finish off some gradin’, ye see?” He said, a slow smile creeping across his perfect lips. “But I’m sure Conner would jus’ love ta show you de rest.” Winking at the young Feral, Remy bowed slightly to the Lady and took his leave. “Jus’ stick wid dis one, Ms. Hawk. He’ll show ye all de ropes dere are!”

Laughing slightly to himself, Remy moved quickly down the hallway. Conner could use some fresh interaction and with the way the girl looked at him, it was pretty obvious she could definitely use some time with Conner. It would make everyone happy, Remy assumed. Conner might not take it well initially, but it was only a matter of time before he warmed to more interaction.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
With the luggage delivered and set in her room, Aldrea seemed ready to move on. And the brown haired American spun about with a content looking expression, eager and ready to see what more the school had to offer. One of the two extremes Connor would have been so used to by now… either completely excited, or utterly miserable. Wanting to either explore, or be left alone. Few balanced between the delicate two, for now, since Connor didn’t remember any of the past tours he had done, he couldn’t really judge her reaction more then just ‘she was happy being here’.

“So, where to now?,” Connor looked over towards Remy as she spoke, waiting for leadership from the elder of them and hoping he’d point them in the right direction with relative ease, “This place is huge and I aim to make the most of this tour.” At least Aldrea had the spirit to be part of the school, Connor smiled slightly at her enthusiasm, she’d not know just how different the school looked when you became an X-men. More then a student, you’re a defender of the students. It was more then an institution, it becomes a home, a home you liturally have to defend, and do so without disrupting the students who were kept outside of the X-men’s circle.

“Well, ah’d love te show you de entire school an’ bestow ye wit mah wisdom, but I’ve really got ta finish off some gradin’, ye see?” At that, Connor wondered if the girl was disappointed, considering Connor himself was still, in a sense, new to the schools layout, he didn’t consider what was about to come as he felt bad for the girl who got unintentionally shot down. “But I’m sure Conner would jus’ love ta show you de rest.” Brows lifted slightly as Connors flaming blue gaze shifted over towards Mr LeBeau, the surprised look quickly plastered with a calmer polite smile towards Aldrea “Jus’ stick wid dis one, Ms. Hawk. He’ll show ye all de ropes dere are!” He will? He’d only seen a bit of the school… if Chris was here then Chris would probably know it better then him, the kid ran in circles wildly back and forth trying to see as much of everywhere they moved as possible, it was nice to see the nine year old looking so pleased in the mansion… their new home.

"Uh.. I don’t know about showing you all the ropes.. I’m not exactly Tarzan material just yep, I’m still learning the layout." Regardless if he was born in these very grounds or not, he didn’t remember it, and he hoped Remy knew that, because he just assured some new student that Connor could deliver her something that he wasn’t sure he could. "…How about we swing by the kitchen and dinning hall first? That’s going to be something you’ll probably visit a lot.. and if you’re hungry you can get something to eat, or drink." There was a shy air about his eyes and yet still he seemed to effortless take charge despite it, his hand waving charmingly down the hall in the direction they needed to walk.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
Juuuuuust as it looked like she was going to have a premo tour of the school, Remy backs out, leaving her a bit disappointed. Aldrea had been hoping to at least be able to see a few things before something came up that usually takes away the tour guide. Not to mention the fact that Connor looked absolutely horrified to be left this daunting task. However, he showed no signs of totally backing out...Maybe there was hope yet!

"Uh.. I don’t know about showing you all the ropes.. I’m not exactly Tarzan material just yet, I’m still learning the layout." Well, that was reasonable. She didn't know that he had been here most of his life and only recently forgotten. The lovely native american may find out soon enough, but at the moment she was blissfully ignorant. A grin lit her dark brown eyes as she caught the Tarzan joke, remembering the Disney cartoon movie and how she had always wanted to be able to slide down vines like that.

"…How about we swing by the kitchen and dinning hall first? That’s going to be something you’ll probably visit a lot.. and if you’re hungry you can get something to eat, or drink." Hmm...Was she hungry? A stillness came over her as she thought of this, sort of 'listening' to her body. Yep, seemed like she was. Though, not 'urgent hungry', just begining to be hungry.

"Sounds like a plan to me," she said with a warm smile, "I'm sure I'll be hungry by the time we get to the cafeteria. They don't really serve a bunch of stuff on planes these days..." They really hadn't. Peanuts and water was all she'd been given. A quick bite to eat at some fastfood place in between flights had been hurried, if not adequate at the time, but now she was thinking about something above adequate. Roast beef, black eyed peas and mashed potatoes sounded good...Her grandmother's cornbread to go with it all sounded better. However, she doubted that the cafeteria offered anything resembling a good old southern meal. She could hope though!

"So...How long have you been here?," she asked as they started to head in what she assumed was the general direction of the cafeteria...

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
There was a wait while Aldrea seemed to decide on how to reply to Connor’s comment, the feral letting his eyes slip down the hall for a moment before returning to her face. The photographer at heart was not one to second guess his own suggestions, as a leader at so young an age Connor didn’t have the luxury of letting himself doubt the choices he made. Let her choose, she could come, accept his offer, deny it, change it, as long as she had a decision to make to counter his he’d not mind appeasing her. This was, after all, her tour.

"Sounds like a plan to me," And plans were good! Connor offered a smile in return to her, "I'm sure I'll be hungry by the time we get to the cafeteria. They don't really serve a bunch of stuff on planes these days..." Not having been on planes other then the Blackbird, Connor couldn’t honestly agree or disagree with her, he’d most definitely didn’t eat any airline foods in his life. With Connor’s claustrophobia he’d have serious panic attacks in the plane, but he never liked freely admitting to his various flaws unless it were a pressing matter he had to address, so for now the feral allowed the comment to pass by. Both students began walking down the hall and Connor tried to allow his mind to layout a possible tour path he could take her on, it wasn’t very detailed… but at least it was some kind of sketchy path.

"So...How long have you been here?," Ouch. Despite having talked to Torrance earlier about his whole memory issue, Connor still felt awkward bring it up, even more if it was with a stranger that didn’t know him. Shouldn’t it be easier though? The feral didn’t see why it felt worse, was it because maybe people who knew him knew how to weave through, or around the topic more graciously then strangers who stumble clueless and yet curiously onwards.

"I was born here." Connor began, the way his face turned off to stare at the windows as they passed a slight hint at the awkwardness of the topic, though he turned his eyes back towards her. "I just suffer from a terrible memory right now." That’s right, make light of the situation, a brief Band-Aid over an open wound. "My father’s Logan Howlett, he’s on the faculty." If not already having met Connor’s father, then she would soon enough. "I have the distinct impression many students are a little edgy around him." A log sided smile sort of formed on the handsome face, looking half amused and half confused over the reactions he noticed from students towards his dad.

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
Aldrea was glad to be getting somewhere now that she had a room. She got the distinct impression that Connor liked things to go in an orderly fashion and when she had asked how long he'd been there, she could feel a bit of an awkwardness come over him. Perhaps she should have waited to ask that question. Though, it seemed a normal enough question to ask a tour guide.

"I was born here." Which would explain why Mr. LeBeau thought he should show her around in his absence. "I just suffer from a terrible memory right now." Ah the memory. Some people can remember things down to the most minute detail. Aldrea, on the other hand, couldn't always remember what she'd had for lunch that day! So, she could understand how he might not want to bother with how many years he'd been at the Institute.

"My father’s Logan Howlett, he’s on the faculty." Ouch. Though it might be a good thing to have a parent who knew the inner workings of the school, it would also mean that Connor couldn't actually get in trouble like the rest of the kids and have his father not know about it. Not that Connor seemed like the type to get into trouble intentionally, but perhaps there was a little rebel buried deep within him. Maybe.

"I have the distinct impression many students are a little edgy around him." Well, there was bound to be at least one teacher that students generally avoided outside of class. It looked like Connor's dad was the one here. Though, he seemed to be confused about it. Perhaps he knew a different side to the man that most students rarely saw. She had a feeling that the latter was true from the smile that only accented his handsome face.

"Maybe your dad has a teaching style that tends to make students dread his class," she said tentatively, "Oooor he might just be the type that is a good guy outside of class, but tends to be tough in the classroom. Every school has that type of teacher." The lovely mutant remembered her last math teacher. He had been a nice guy outside of class, but taught a tough class. He had tried to make it interesting and cracked a few jokes, but he was very shrewd when it came to grading and always chose the hardest projects. Later, she was glad that he had been hard because she found that her next math class was easier than his had been.

"Is the food good in the cafeteria?" The lovely brown-eyed girl figured that it might be nice to get an experienced person's take on the whole cafeteria situation. It would be nice to know when to avoid the cafeteria. She definately didn't look forward to finding out the meatloaf surprise was really something from last monday or something on her own!

Re: Hide your hearts, boys! The new girl's just arrived...
"Maybe your dad has a teaching style that tends to make students dread his class," Yeah… maybe, that and he looked like he was ready to lunge at anyone who stepped out of line, Connor had seen the better half of his father but he had also seen how Logan acted when finding him down at the lake. The guy sounded so worked up and worried and Connor could tell that hell hath no fury like a father’s anger right there and then! But surely people trusted his father, all the good things his dad said and tried to offer… "Oooor he might just be the type that is a good guy outside of class, but tends to be tough in the classroom. Every school has that type of teacher." Yes! That had to be it, Connor nodded slightly, he’d not had classes with his father yet, so he didn’t know for sure but that sounded more like his dad… tough on the outside and sweet in the center.

"Is the food good in the cafeteria?" A chuckle came and Connor offered an assuring grin as they walked, rounding a corner and descending stairs (which Connor did in a fluid and graceful manner that seemed so well poised and effortless).

"I eat a lot of food, my sisters and I apparently devour more then our fair share, there’s also a lot of students that come from all over the place, many don’t have the money to have a constant supply of food stored away for themselves. So it’s safe to say that there is little left at the end of each day as far as the food stock goes, it’s all fresh and hygiene is important." At the bottom of the stairs there was a little pause as Connor glanced from one direction of the hall to the other, settling with head left and moving towards their destination once again. "Actually, it’s very important, as there are students who are really sensitive to things… like, dad says I’m really picky, if they don’t wear gloves, I can taste it where they’ve handled food and that would not go well on their records." Another smile brightened his lips, offering Aldrea a few snippets of his odd needs and abilities without delving into powers he himself was not all too familiar with at this point.

"Do you like horse riding? Swimming? Uh.. There’s a lake too…" He sounded a little less then eager when the lake was brought up though he’d hardly go out of his way to avoid the thing, even if it had given him a terrible spook last time he had gone there. "Gym and things… computers too, in the library there’s a few computer labs…oh, look.. and reading club, and… other things you can do and groups you can join." Connor motioned to the wall that had boards spanning the hall towards the dinning hall, riddled with papers and advertisements for various things and places and requests and any number of other things people were trying to organize.

"I eat a lot of food, my sisters and I apparently devour more then our fair share, there's also a lot of students that come from all over the place, many don't have the money to have a constant supply of food stored away for themselves. So it's safe to say that there is little left at the end of each day as far as the food stock goes, it's all fresh and hygiene is important." Well, that answered her question. Food: good. Got it. The tour was going well so far. Every once and a while, Aldrea would catch herself staring at him and would quickly look away. He moved with the grace of a cat! Sometimes she'd almost walk into walls or such and would have to correct her path quickly. The young Native American beauty just hoped he hadn't been paying attention those times.

"Actually, its very important, as there are students who are really sensitive to things? Like, dad says I'm really picky, if they don't wear gloves, I can taste it where they've handled food and that would not go well on their records." Interesting. From what little tidbits of info she's gleaned so far, it was safe to assume that Connor had enhanced senses. She wasn't sure if they were all enhanced or just a few things. Because if they were all enhanced, then he definately heard her surprised comment when he'd opened the door. Just thinking of that made her blush all the way up to her ears.

"I guess if they prepare the food well around here and are ever in the market for a new job, then they should get an outstanding recommendation from the Headmaster...That is if they left in good standing," she said with a small grin, trying to show that she was listening at the very least, "I mean if they can cater to the unique diets of some people with unique mutations, then they should be like one of the best cooks around after a few years here."

"Do you like horse riding? Swimming? Uh.. There's a lake too?" The technological-loving sweetheart decided to pretend that she hadn't heard his less than enthusiasticness as he'd mentioned the lake. Some people just didn't like big bodies of water and that was perfectly okay with her. "Gym and things? computers too, in the library there's a few computer labs, look.. and reading club, and? other things you can do and groups you can join."

"Well..I used to go horse-back riding on my grandmother's ranch in Arizona, but then we moved to Alabama after she died." she said, a tinge of sadness creeping into her voice, "It sounds like there's a lot to do around here, though. I mean, just give me a pool in summer and a little snow in the winter and I'm happy as a bluebird on the first day of spring." Snow. That'd be nice to actually see. That was one of the downfalls of living in the South. You hardly ever see snow. Really, the most she'd seen were snow flurries. Once, her parents and her visited Gaitlinburg in December, but the only time it had snowed then was after they'd all left.

"So, any advice on who I should avoid around here?," she asked with a shy smile, having actually gained a bit confidence since first meeting him, "Bullies, teachers, ya know. The usual people and especially those to avoid when they're mad." She certainly wasn't sure she wanted to get on anyone's bad side around here. With her luck, she'd probably end up making a hot-tempered pyrokinetic mad on accident!
