Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
The sensation of the lingering fear, coupled with every other emotion that had run through her had almost instantaneously vanished within a heartbeat. Only to be refilled with the sensation of shock. She was a mutant. She could not see how any thing like that was possible, none of her parents were mutants, and how could it be that she was one. As much as she mulled over the fact, the sensation of shock started to ebb away, to allow for the element of denial to seep its way into her psyche.

Leaning forward, Jinlo arched her back so that she was looking towards the ground her hands balling into fists then spreading open. The doctor's continuing explanation as to how such a occurrence took place fell upon deaf ears as Jinlo stared towards the ground her brow furrowed in growing frustration. Nothing could have prepared her for such a revelation, even though she had slight suspicions as to how she had willed Raj's demise before her very eyes. She could only phase it towards coincidence or perhaps an act of God in her time of need.

The news as much as she wanted to avoid it started to fall into acceptance. Though through that acceptance came a wave of a greater upset. She was a mutant. Mutants have certain abilities. Some how her ability empowered her to take the life of another living being. Her stomach seemed to tighten as she felt physically sickened at herself. She was a monster, not in the sense how many would perceive the blue doctor standing mere feet away. But on the level of a tyrant who left naught but fallen bodies in their wake.

Tears started to well up in the corner of her eyes. She did not want this. She did not want to become a freak, a monster who takes away the lives of other beings, with as little as a simple longing determining the difference between their continuing existence or their abrupt demise. Slowly her hands moved up towards her face. Cutting her off from those positioned around her within the room. Leaving them with the dull sound of sobbing, and the sight of her back shifting in time with her heavy breathing.

After what must have been a short while. Her head tilted upwards slightly, exposing a pair of tear stained and blood shot eyes, barely visible over her index fingers. "What kind of ability do I possess that allows me to kill another being without even touching him?” Jinlo questioned, even though deep down she did not want to know the answer, considering her current line of questioning had brought on grief at the revelation of the answer to her previous question. “What purpose would I have here?-“Jinlo questioned as she suddenly rose to her feet. Her hands hovering inches away from her scalp, as if waiting to pull at the very fibres that made up her long flowing raven locks.

What purpose does a murderer have within these walls? For someone who is bound to be hunted by police to lie within the same walls as the very students that make up this institute?” Jinlo continued to question, as she paced away from Tessa and McCoy, her tone almost venomous. Not that it was being directed towards any one in particular, merely being vented through the heated frustration and anger that she was now holding towards herself. Towards this monster that she had became.

Slowly her hands fell to her side, her head dipping as her gaze fell to the floor. The flush of anger now subsiding, as the raw emotions started to take hold once again. The elements of fear, doubt and vulnerability once again regaining control upon her. "What purpose does a monster like me have in life" Jinlo spoke, as she looked towards McCoy over her shoulder through tear stained eyes, her venomous tone turning about entirely into the very voice that conveyed the very impression of a weak and confused young woman, only but a short while ago.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis

She cried then. Harsh, bitter sobs racking her thin body as she took in what he had told her. It wasn’t the reaction he had been hoping for but it was the one he had expected given the circumstances. Mutants who accepted their condition with a smile were few and far between and that included those who were born of parents who themselves had powers and who could help prepare them for what lay ahead. This girl had none of that. No warning of what she was before her gift took a life. And that was hard to face no matter how you tried to soften the blow. But still it did have to be faced.

Hank waited for the weeping to subside, knowing that when it did the inevitable questions would emerge. Questions every bit as anguished as the sobs themselves had been but which at least he could answer, perhaps bringing her some comfort there as he could not when she had sat fragile and alone under the weight of grief, kept from the simplest of human contact by the fear this man she had killed had installed in her heart and mind.

"What kind of ability do I possess that allows me to kill another being without even touching him?” she asked him vehemently What purpose would I have here?-“ She was on her feet now, frantic, but still lucid, not falling back into the incoherent state Talia had described her as having been in when she first arrived and that was something to give thanks for , even if for Jinlo there didn’t seem to be anything positive about her present position. “What purpose does a murderer have within these walls? For someone who is bound to be hunted by police to lie within the same walls as the very students that make up this institute? "What purpose does a monster like me have in life"”

She had run through the whole range of emotions, from self pity all the way out to anger and back into confusion. Now she looked at him, awaiting something. Judgement?Condemnation? Rejection? Her eyes said all of those and more. And that she was far from expecting what he was to actually about to give her. Understanding. Compassion. In the end something resembling absolution.

“Child, child you are not a monster. Far from it.” Hank said gently “neither in the fact of being a mutant or as far as this whole sorry business with your employer is concerned. You told us about your ordeal when you first arrived and I think I can safely say that in that instance you only acted as any human would have, even if the means at your disposal were somewhat different.

“Think about it.” he urged her, his voice calming as he evoked this most painful of memories. “You did not mean to hurt this man while he on the other hand very definitely wanted and indeed tried to hurt you. You merely defended yourself, as well you should have.

It was nothing but the truth and yet Hank knew how hard it would be for her to believe it. Taking a life, even the life of an assailant, left bitter wounds and hers were far from being ready to heal. And yet this was where the process would start, where it had to start if she was ever to become whole again. With himself and the other residents of the Institute ready to help her along the way as best they could.

“If there had been another form of weapon at hand no doubt you would have used that in order to get away. As it was your power came to the rescue. Had it not……. well then things might have gone very differently.” There was no need to say any more They both knew what the consequences would have been if she hadn’t lashed out. Rape at best! Death at worst. Neither to be submitted to if there was any hope of freedom. As it was there had been a chance and she had seized it, refusing to be a victim even if it had been done in the most unexpected of manners.

What you have to realise my dear is that it what happened back there by no means implies that this power you possess can only be used for destruction. Look at me Jinlo “ Hank held out his great hands in front of him and unsheathed the deadly claws that lay beneath their fur. “ I too have the power to kill, as do many, if not all, of the students here. And, yes, some can do so without laying one finger on their victims or even leaving a mark to betray their passage. But we choose not to. Just as those who have no mutant powers choose not to merely buy a gun and start killing all those around them, though they may well use one to defend their life”

“There is a difference of course” he went on earnestly “for we can never set our weapons aside. They are an integral part of us and as such we must take care to control them” He looked down once more at his claws before sheathing them and laying his hands back placidly on his lap. “Once we learn to do that, well then, our lives are our own, to do with as we wish.

“You may not know what your purpose in life is yet, Jinlo”, the blue furred mutant told her softly” but ours here at the Institute is to help you learn that control. And that means that you have your place here with us just like each and every other student.”

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
Narrowing her eyes in bemusement, as she listened to McCoy further try to reason the truth into her fragile mind, unconscious to the fact that her body was slowly turning to face towards the doctor, as opposed to just regarding him over her shoulder. Her gaze could not help but fall towards the ground at the mention of her late former employer, even the slightest hinting towards the man was enough to reignite the bitter memories of the circumstances that were at the very core of her pain. Making no effort to obscure the trembling that had engulfed her body at the recitation of the nights events.

The trembling and signs of emotional pain appeared to increase as she was urged to think about the various avenues around how any one in her position would take up some form of inanimate object as a means of protecting themselves. Even though it appeared that there was no other alternative, Jinlo could just not accept the fact that in order for her to heal from those mental scars set in place from the night of her mutant gift’s making itself known, she would potentially have to relive the ordeal numerous times until she could learn to accept the truth of what happened.

With an air of startled fright, Jinlo physically recoiled as the blue creature in front of her brandished a series of intimidating claws in front of her, whilst speaking that he himself had the ability to rob another person of their life. But it was hard for her to understand the connection. Between his life taking ability and hers. McCoy’s was clearly and plainly apparent, through the razor sharp protrusions making their way from the tangled fur around what where his hands, where as hers was something completely intangible. She did not know if she still controlled the ability, or even how to bring it back into existence. All she knew was that in doing so she could feel the searing pain that she was inflicting upon her employer, believing that the pain she felt was her own, which driven her to will his demise further.

Quietly she continued to listen to the words that McCoy spoke to her, trying to see the logic behind them, whilst attempting to hold them close to her mind, but it was difficult for her to do so. He spoke of her ability being just like a conventional firearm, something that had brought her pain in the past, through the firearm’s use in taking her father’s life away right before her eyes. The memories of her fathers demise struggled to remain suppressed, as she tried to focus on not revisiting such a young memory in her child hood.

But I don’t know what my weapon is” Jinlo spoke, her tone conveying an air of defeat to her words. I don’t know how I was able to kill him she reiterated, pausing slightly, as she looked to herself in the reflective window pane. “How can I learn to control something that I don’t even know how to bare” she spoke as she looked down towards McCoy’s hands, before raising a hand in front of McCoy, the fingers curled inwards in resemblance to a claw. “Your’s is easy to control because you always know its there” Jinlo tried to reason, before slumping down onto one of the near by seats, her face showing complete resignation. “How can I protect people from myself, if I don’t even know what I am capable of?” She added as she lowered her gaze to the floor, her voice was starting to tremble once again. "Even then i don't want to know what i am capable of"

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
Sometimes you had to take a risk to get through to a patient, and Hank had certainly done that, dragging up the sordid events that had caused Jinlo’s powers to erupt so drastically in order to save her. But then again this wasn’t going to go away. Any of it! The fear! Then shame! The absolute confusion as to how and why all this had happened to her. To a girl who had only been trying to make some sort of life for herself on her own , in one of the toughest districts of New York

Getting her details off the state registry hadn’t exactly been difficult for the Institutes security system! After all Jinlo wasn’t exactly the most common of names and coupled with what the telepaths had gleaned from her, unwittingly or not, the tragic details of her history had soon unfolded themselves before Hank’s compassionate eyes.

There were no parents to contact in this case. No horrified but concerned faces showing up at their door to comfort a wronged child. No, Jinlo was on her own! Or at least she had been up until the moment she had taken refuge in the Institute’s grounds! Now though, even if she didn’t yet seem to realise it, things had changed. For the better Hank hoped. Though he had yet to convince Jinlo of that fact!. The doctor sighed. At least she had listened to what he had said, and seemed, however painfully, to be coming to grips with it.

There were some important points though that she hadn’t accepted yet, and that too was natural given the circumstances. Like the fact her power didn’t always have to be destructive! But then again how could she think otherwise when the first thing it had ever done had been to kill a man? That much was clear from the very next thing she said

“But I don’t know what my weapon is” she told the doctor , her distress at this conversation all to evident yet still under a control he was more than relieved to see she could still exert if she had too. “I don’t know how I was able to kill him. How can I learn to control something that I don’t even know how to bear.

There was still anger here and a great measure of despair, but that had been after all the staple diet of most of those who had come, lost and afraid, to the doors of the Xavier institute. And it was, in the end, why Charles had set the school up in the first place. For those who embraced their mutant powers with open arms were few and far between.

Hank had been one of the lucky ones differentiated from the norm only by his larger than normal hands and feet and, lets face it , that had never proved to be hurdle back in the good old days when the had been the chosen one of his schools football team. No he had, in mutant terms, been truly blessed. Up until the moment that was when he had deliberately interfered with his own already unstable DNA and created something that truly merited the name he had borne from the start. The Beast. No longer human in form. Paying the price of his own , however well intentioned, foolishness.

Jinlo didn’t have to endure what he now had though. Her mutation was hidden, invisible, even if at this precise moment that didn’t make it any easier to bear. Indeed its lack of any physical form seemed to make it a greater problem for her “Your’s is easy to control because you always know its there” she asked him earnestly. “How can I protect people from myself, if I don’t even know what I am capable of?” Her eyes left his, dropping away almost in despair as she whispered "Even then i don't want to know what i am capable of"

This was a crucial moment, as indeed all of the moments he had shared with her had been up till now. But even so, this one he knew could well prove to be decisive. And as such it merited nothing less than the truth.

“You might not want to know” he told her sincerely “but for the sake of yourself and those around you, you need to know. Because only then will you be able to control what you can do. And yes” he went on with a resigned smile ” I awake every morning and look in the mirror and know that I am different. But believe me mutants don’t need fur or fangs to realise that.”

There was nothing bitter in his voice , just an honesty that was at the same time painful and hard to ignore “The power is there whether it has a physical manifestation or not. And each and every one of us knows that. But here” he emphasised again” here at Xavier’s we can help you do what you have to, if you want to lead a life that is anything like normal. Keep others safe. Keep yourself safe. Control, rather than be at the mercy of this power that has suddenly erupted into your life. And, believe me that is something you will want to learn in the future and which we are more than welcome to teach.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
To say that she was scared was perhaps at least the greatest understatement of her entire life, although she was displaying the various signs brought on by grief; anger, despair, denial, deep down within the very core of her being she was terrified, the fear of this unknown element that resided within her was more than enough to send her back into her downward spiral of panic, not so long ago she had taken a life with this element, but now she was being faced with the prospect of having to yet again deal with this power, so that she could learn to control it, even though it would mean she could prevent further harm being inflicted by her powers, Jinlo was to a high degree hesitant on further acknowledging it’s potential.

Even though the blue doctor’s words were perhaps well rehearsed, and full of reason, perhaps due to past experience, given his continual emphasis that the institute would help her control this power and all its potential, she still would prefer to forget that any thing of this even happened and would perhaps consider going to extreme lengths to rid her self of this element, to say that suicide was not contemplated would be a lie.

I want to learn how to control it” Jinlo spoke hesitantly, inwardly biting back at herself, knowing deep down she wanted nothing to do with this side of her. “I understand that by doing so, I would prevent others from harm” Jinlo continued, pausing a moment to take a deep breath, “But I am scared that in the process I may kill someone, someone who has done nothing” she continued before lowering her gaze towards the ground, she could feel the tears welling back up into her eyes, “My father was killed in the crossfire of a gang war, I don’t want any one to be robed of life like him” Jinlo explained, her arm raising to the side of the face, so that she could use her wrists to wipe away the formation of tears from her eyes.

Slowly she retreated away from McCoy, edging herself towards the curtain dividers that created separate partitions around each bed within the room, her hands slowly running up and down the fabric, giving the impression that she was absentmindedly playing with the furniture, where as she was simply in thought and keeping the rest of her somewhat occupied, she wanted to have a degree of control over this power, but it was the fact that in order to do so, she would have to perhaps face one of the biggest fears she now has. Something like for many just seemed like an impossible obstacle for her to over come and that any attempt to do so would be futile.

Gradually turning herself back around to face the blue doctor, her gaze hesitantly made contact with his, deliberately stalling by scanning over the various machines that were within her field of vision. “I want to control this power” She reiterated, “But I don’t want to hurt anyone in the process” she spoke as she returned her gaze to the floor for a few short minutes, the way in which her thumb was running over her fingers indicating that she was in some form of contemplation. “Is there a way that it can be done without putting people at risk? If so can you promise that would be the way I learn?

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
I want to learn how to control it” Jinlo assured him however reluctantly. “I understand that by doing so, I would prevent others from harm” That was good. An acceptance, even on the subconscious level that such a thing was perhaps possible after all. Though neither of them believed it would be easy. Still it was a major step forward even if understandably enough there were many more reasons to be fearful than there were easons to hope in Jinlos mind at the moment. And the next one she raised was far from being something that could be glossed over with reassuring words and some hot chocolate.

“But I am scared that in the process I may kill someone, someone who has done nothing” she told the doctor , her legitimate concern leaving him with no easy answer to offer, especially since the deadly nature of her power had already been demonstrated all to well.

Not that anxiety over her new found abilities was the only factor at play, Hank realised as he listened to Jinlo’s continuing explanation. She had been deprived of a parent through just such a loss of control, or rather, through the carelessness of one who wielded power indiscriminately and it was no wonder that she wouldn’t let herself do the same. Though even if she had not had this added incentive Hank doubted that this girl would have been ready to take a risk with other peoples lives.

She was a wreck, emotionally and psychologically, damaged by the recent terrible events that had befallen her, but nevertheless there was still a core to Jinlo that was solid and decent. Hank could see that. It showed in the way she blamed herself for a death that was as truly a case of self-defence as any the doctor had ever heard of. And in the way she put her concern for others before her own needs.

. “I want to control this power” Jinlo said again , “But I don’t want to hurt anyone in the process Is there a way that it can be done without putting people at risk? If so can you promise that would be the way I learn?” Hank smiled at her earnest words ”Well now” he replied softly “I wont lie and say that there will be no risks involved, but then again that is true of any kind of training whatever its nature.. What I can assure you of is that all of us who would be helping you would know what those risks were and how best to avoid them. Or at least we will once we find out what exactly your power is. And to do that……”

“We have people here with psychic abilities Jinlo.” The blue furred doctor told her ” Telepaths who can read thoughts and place suggestions in peoples minds. Empaths who can experience the emotions of others as if they were their own or transfer their own feelings into others! They are well placed to be able to work safely with you in order to unravel the mystery of your own abilities. As well as knowing just how complicated such abilities can be to live with.”

“I personally would suggest that as a good starting place. And afterwards we can take things as slowly and carefully as you desire. Does that sound like a good plan to you?"

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
Sitting down on a chair that was close beside the doctor, yet allowed for a significant distance to be placed between herself and the blue mutant, although she had relaxed significantly around the man, she was still cautious; her distrust towards the male gender was not something that could easily be swayed. Intently she listened to the doctor’s words, half expecting a ‘but’ to be included in his explanation as to how they could help her, thankfully that never came, the man spoke to her truthfully, some thing she could sense through the way in which he maintained a firm yet reassuring tone to his words, in addition to the understanding visible in his eyes.

Sitting in silence after the words had been spoken; Jinlo looked towards the man for a brief moment, her gaze narrowing, as her mind tried to assimilate some of the words he had aired. Such words as; empath and telepaths were completely foreign to her, even though their meaning was explained, her mind clung onto the words, as if turning them over and about themselves in order to exact as much detail out of the word. The mentioning of psychics threw her off slightly, she had of course heard of psychics, yet her belief in their actual plausibility were something of a hard pill to swallow, psychics to her were nothing more than a cheap act that would draw a slight crowd at a bar, or at best some form of pointless day time television show.

Whether she was aware of it or not, her mouth was silently speaking the two words that she had newly encountered, the movement of her lips visibly creating the necessary openings in order to aurally project the sounds required to construct the word. Once she had finally tired of the new words that offered to her, Jinlo redirected her attention towards the blue doctor, her eyes widening out of their narrowed, contemplative state. She could see that despite the patience he was displaying towards her, he was still seeking an answer from her, as to whether or not his proposal would be suitable for her.

The fact that she would be learning to control this strange ability that for now was laying in wait within the shadows of her mind, was something that she wanted the most, despite the fact that that he was unable to promise her the safety and piece of mind that it would be done without harm to others, she was still content with the knowledge that despite the set back in her requests, there was promise of methods and people being put into place so that should something go wrong, there would be a significant hope that the matter be resolved. The more she thought about it, the clearer the methods became, the empaths and the telepaths each able sense and see within her just what precisely was residing within her that gives her the reluctant ability to harm others, even kill them.

Slowly nodding in answer to the question, satisfying the doctor’s wait for a response from her, Yes she spoke simply, the contorted arrangement of her fingers wrapped around each other, in addition to the furrowed brow, indicating that there was more to come than just a simple ‘yes’. “These Empaths and Telepaths, how far into my thoughts would they able to ... um... read?” Jinlo posed, her stumbling for words towards the end of her question came simply from a lack of understanding towards how the questioned abilities stretch, the tone of her voice conveying a hidden concealment of embarrassment, although she wanted help with this presence within her, she was worried if what these people saw when they were in her mind, that they would judge her, because of her upbringing, her murdering of her employer and to a lesser extent those who she had crushes on.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
She was obviously thinking it over. Though he was no telepath himself, Hank could almost see the thoughts running through her mind as she took in the implications of what he had said and weighed up the pros and the cons of the proposition he had put to her. He only hope that the balance would come down in his favour for it was clear that without help and understanding Jinlo would be hard pressed to get a handle on this mysterious power of hers. And it was not a power that could be left unchecked without causing damage, the fact the damage in question would almost certainly be unintentional only making things more urgent in the doctor’s eyes at least.

And in Jinlo’s too apparently. “Yes” she told him, finally, her voice steady in its acceptance, though the inevitable question soon followed. “These Empaths and Telepaths, how far into my thoughts would they able to ... um... read?” It was of course what anyone in her situation would want to know, indeed it was what they had a right to know before they went any further. The mind after all was the one place where we were truly alone, able to be entirely ourself without any fear of judgement from anything other than our own conscience and moral code. To be told that someone could violate that privacy, simply tear back the veil that kept a distance between what we truly thought and what we showed the world, was quite simply terrifying.

Working with psychics, especially as closely as Jinlo would be expected to, took, quite literally, a leap of faith. Because, in the end you were putting your life in their hands, that special private life that no one but you was ever supposed to see. And you were trusting them not to look! So Hank weighed his words carefully before he answered and then told Jinlo the truth.

” If we are merely talking about what their powers make them capable of then I would say they could read everything. I wouldn’t put you in the hands of someone whose abilities were either untried or inadequate and that means you would be working with some of the most able psychics in the world.

Which” Hank smiled at her reassuringly as he went on “actually means that your thoughts are safer than they would be with a novice. Imagine that what we are talking about is” Hank searched for an image that would make things clearer and finally came up with one that as a doctor he felt comfortable with. “like surgery. Someone who isn’t talented and trained could cut too much or not in the right place. Whereas an experienced practitioner would only do what was necessary, no more, no less.”

He hoped he had made things clearer and not scared her still further, though he was sure that a little more explanation wouldn’t go amiss. “The people you would be working with are experts in their field.” he told her gently “They don’t need to read your thoughts to help you with your power; they can focus on learning how it works and that alone. So..where your thoughts and emotions are linked to your power they would capture something undoubtedly. But as for the rest…..your mind would be entirely your own.”

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
Pursing her lips in thought as she listened to McCoy answer her question, visibly relaxing to the news that the intrusion in her mind would be minimal. Regarding the doctor with her soft blue eyes she nodded to his words, as her fingers absentmindedly wrapped the hem of her medical gown around themselves, causing the fabric to distort from its loose fitting state, to a state where elements of her figure were outlined by the fabric.

It came as something of a small relief to know that the deeper secrets of her life would potentially be safe, away from prying eyes, even though she had reluctantly spoken about several of the darker secrets recently, she did not want to have what she had suffered being openly broadcasted among the various empaths and telepaths of the institution. There was of course one thing she would soon ask the doctor, although she guessed he may already be anticipating the subject some point or the other, well it was more a request and a burning question to all her needed answers, the fact that she was still overly uncomfortable with male company around her, to know that a man would be crawling through her thoughts was something that for the time being she would not willingly abide by, yet alone cope with.

Although she wanted to ask the question, to ensure that she could be sure that she would be comfortable with going through what the Doctor had proposed, she was nervous about doing so, not wanting to sound ungrateful to the help that the blue male was offering her or hesitant to accept the help that was being held out to her.

If it would be possible, could the ones who are to do this” Jinlo spoke, before pausing slightly, still unsure if she should continue with her question. “Could it be possible ... I mean not to sound ungrateful for your help... but could they well not be male” she finally concluded, her hesitance for asking the question was clearly evident in the stumbling for words that she posed to the doctor.

Slowly drawing her hands away from the hems of her gown, before wrapping her arms over her chest, almost defensively, but the whole movement was for her to trap warmth around her, whether it were the time of day, the activation of air conditioning systems, or for some other reason, it felt as if the surroundings had became slightly chilly.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
She was slowly relaxing, or at least easing somewhat away from the state of panic she had been in when he had first seen her. The questions she asked were lucid and pertinent and his answers, whether they were the ones she wanted to hear or not, were considered carefully rather than thrown aside as being to much to cope with. And lets face it they were a lot to cope with , even for someone without Jinlo’s emotional baggage.

So, despite the nervous gestures and the fear that never quite left her eyes Hank was impressed by the way this young woman was handling things. Even the request she made was infinitely reasonable given the circumstances, though it saddened him to think of how damaged she had to be to make it. “If it would be possible,” she said, keeping her voice steady despite the highly personal nature of the favour she was asking “could the ones who are to do this. Could it be possible ... I mean not to sound ungrateful for your help... but could they well not be male”

Hank nodded his head reassuringly. “Of course my dear. That won’t be a problem. We wouldn’t ask you to consider working with someone you wouldn’t be comfortable with. And it so happens that our headmistress, Jean Grey is one of the foremost telepaths in the world. Besides being one of the nicest people I know that is.” he added with a smile “I’ll talk to her about all this and have her come up for a visit sometime so you can get to know her before we take this any further. But for now… you should let either Tessa or myself look at that cut on your head.

The shiiar machines could have healed it in half an hour but somehow Hank didn’t think Jinlo was ready for their strange and somewhat restrictive technology. There was no immediate danger from the wound from what he could see so this time at least it seemed that the old methods of healing would probably be the best.

Then , when that’s done we can get you moved into one of the private rooms here in med lab if you would like that. Hank told her kindly It would give you a bit more privacy which is never a bad thing. And I can have some warmer pyjamas sent up….. maybe something to eat if you are hungry….whatever we can get you to make you feel more comfortable. All you have to do is ask and we’ll see what we can do.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
Slowly a soft smile crept across her face, things for once were starting to pick up in her life, the prospect that she would be granted the help to control this element in relative safety where she would be unable to cause unwanted harm to innocents who may be around her at the time. Despite her distrust of the male gender, she could feel her resentment towards them soften being within the company of the blue doctor. He had been overly kind towards her, not the element of kindness that Raj had shown towards her through deceptive means, but the doctor’s kindness was more sincere, genuine even.

Nodding to his words, she gradually edged herself closer towards the blue furred male, gingerly easing away the tendrils of hair that hung over her blood sodden wound, revealing the swollen mass of flesh that surrounded the shallow cut, caused from her sharp descent onto the floor, from her bed. Had it not been for her weakened state, she would have just sustained a swollen bump, she was still physically frail, weak from a life time of malnourishment and poor living conditions in the slums, coupled with the days of starvation and physical exhaustion as she fled from the slums.

Tessa cleaned it, but it is still throbbing” Jinlo spoke sheepishly her gaze turning towards Tessa, who had remained relatively reserved during the talk between McCoy and herself, had it not been for her shallow breathing, Jinlo would of been left to believe that she had snuck out of the room during the exchange of words.

As she sat awaiting the doctor’s examination of her wound, she mused over what had also been offered to her, a private room within the medical facilities, clothing that would be less compromising than the medical gown that now adorned her small frame, but most importantly food she had forgotten when she had last ate since the incident with her late employer. A sense of elation cascaded through her, a rather unfamiliar sensation within her recent life, she could not help but feel sceptical about the offer, as if she was being taunted, but from what she could assess of the doctor she doubted that he would openly tease her, if so far he had been pretty open and truthful to her.

Unsure of how to accept the offer, without sounding too eager to accept, so not to convey the fact that she was so willing to take up the offer, she still had a relative unease towards accepting the support being offered from sympathetic males, she had learned not to be overly trusting from those she thought she could rely upon their support, a experience that had scared her for the remainder of her life. Slowly she softened to the offer. “Could I? I mean if it would be no trouble” Jinlo spoke as directed her gaze to the doctor, regarding him through the corner of her eyes.

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
OOC.... Have gone on with treatng the wound but.. if you think Jinlo may have reacted when hank actually touched her..... let me know and Ill cheerfully edit..... (it will delay the arrival of the soup though :) )

.........................;;

Somehow….. though Hank wasn’t sure exactly what had been the determining factor, he had connected with her. The doctor could see it in the way the tension eased out of Jinlo’s face to be replaced by something that looked for a moment suspiciously like hope. It was a small miracle that he had seen before , the moment when some frightened and broken teenager realised that perhaps there was a place in which they could be safe and people they could trust , but it never failed to move him all the same.

It was in the end what made it all worthwhile. The stupidly long hours! The never ending pressure. The underlying expectation that he would somehow be able to fix everything and everyone who came through the doors of med lab! Well that was far from being the case, but at least here and now he could and did make a difference.

Even so he hadn’t thought that Jinlo would actually let him treat her wound, not with another female standing by ready and able to do so. But she did, moving towards him slowly but determinedly , revealing the nasty cut to his yellow gaze with fingers that, like the rest of her were too thin but steady nonetheless.

“Tessa cleaned it, but it is still throbbing” she told him with a rueful look towards the other young woman who sat by so quietly, no doubt fearing that any intervention on her part might disturb the fragile relationship that was being created between the doctor and this most fragile of patients. Hank himself hesitated to life one of his huge hands to the Jinlos forehead, all to aware of how threatening they looked despite the gentleness that lay behind them. Strangely enough he saw no apprehension in Jinlo’s eyes as she looked at him, only the same dawning optimism he had glimpsed before.

“Could I? I mean if it would be no trouble” Hank wasn’t sure which of his previous offers was being accepted, probably all of them he thought with a quick grin and that was all for the best. Take away the impersonal hospital gown. Let her chose where she would stay during her time in med lab. Give her something warm and sustaining to eat. It didn’t seem like much perhaps but it was the first step to letting her know that here at least she had some control over her destiny. And that those around her were friends rather than enemies.

“ Of course you can” the doctor said cheerfully. “And its no trouble at all. There’s a room already made up and the Institute keeps a good supply of clothes in stock for just such occasions. You are” he told her with a wry smile” far from being the first student to turn up without a suitcase, you know. And as for food… Some soup and fresh bread perhaps to start with? There’s always some of that in the kitchen no matter what the hour. Oh and some of cooks excellent cake probably wouldn’t go amiss either.”

Normally he would have asked Tessa if she would go down and fetch it up but for the moment Hank didn’t want to risk all the progress he had so far made with Jinlo by suddenly sending away her female *chaperone* so to speak. No better to go himself and let Tessa help jinlo get established in her new room. That was infinitely more appropriate.

“First lets get this cut cleaned up” he stated finally, moving around med lab to assemble all that he needed to tend her wound, setting the swabs and solutions out before her so that she would have time to see that his hands were very far from awkward before he touched her.

Which he did gently. Washing the blood away from the cut with some warm water. “It shouldn’t need stitches” he reassured her. “Cuts to the forehead always tend to bleed a lot. It makes them look worse than they really are.Still I have a pretty good salve here that should fix it right up. Doesn’t sting all that much either. In fact it should feel cool and soothing.There”.. Hank opened the tub of sweet smelling paste and smoothed a little of it carefully onto the injury before covering it with a sterile swab and securing the whole thing in place with some transparent plaster. “That’s all done. Now why don’t you let Tessa help you into a warm bed while I fetch some of that food I promised you. Once you’ve had something to eat I’m sure you’ll feel much better.”

Re: Tuesday March 27th - Psychosis and Neurosis
OOC: It's fine, it'd be futile having her throw a wobly at such a late stage, would ruin all Hanks hard work :D Soz it's taken a while.

Nodding as McCoy risen back to his full height, Jinlo turned her gaze towards Tessa, before falling back towards the doctor, whom now appeared as if he was putting the various articles he had collected to treat her wound. Slowly she got back onto her feet and gingerly followed Tessa through to the designated room that was attached to the ward that she had woken up within. Stepping through as Tessa held the door and motioned for her to enter, Jinlo’s gaze scanned over the room, it did not overly seem that different from the small enclosure that she had been within before hand, there was still an array of equipment dotted about, most of which seemed inactive and lifeless, a bed that did look much more welcoming than its ward counterparts, as well as other various artefacts that to her seemed as if it was a halfway house between the medical ward and a conventional room.

Turning her attention about as Tessa questioned her about her clothing size; she could see that the other woman was standing in front of an open cupboard that contained a few sets of bath gown like articles of clothing. Apprehensively she shook her head; she had no real idea of her clothes size, it had been a long time since she had last went out and purchased any clothing for her self, even though it would of made sense for her to simply check the tag sewn into her clothing, she knew it would be futile, as they had been washed and worn for such a long duration of time that any information that was contained had long since faded from sight. Soon finding herself thinking for a stretched period of time, her eyes stuck upon the different articles of clothing hanging before her, assessing each item for its approximate size and if it would fit her miniscule frame.

Reaching out with her hand, her narrow fingers brushing upon the fabric of the clothing, the soft texture of the various weaves of thread, seemed to emanate an element of warmth from them, slowly her fingers moved over towards the top of one of the hangers, drawing it away from it’s point of rest, to become suspended over the ground within Jinlo’s delicate grasp, giving the articles that hung from the hanger a quick assessing glance, double checking that it would to a degree fit her frame. Pursing her lips in thought as she looked down upon the belt of that hung, Jinlo guessed it was not really necessary for her to worry too much about the size of the dressing gown, she could always use the ties to make sure the fit was not too loose.

Slipping the garment off of the hanger, placing the hanger down upon the edge of her new bed before she fed her arms through the sleeves of the garment, and wrapping the rest of the gown around herself, inwardly relishing in the added warmth that she gained over the flimsy medical gown, in addition to a degree of additional confidence that elements of her body would not be too readily exposed by the long wrapping cut of the new article of clothing that she bore.

Gingerly she looked about her surroundings, half expecting the doctor to return, any minute now. Her arms although folded in front of her chest, shown little sign of presence, concealed within the sleeves that were longer than the reach of her arms, yet in reflection it seemed that the entire dressing gown was perhaps longer than she had expected, yet she could not really complain, she was currently enjoying the all over warmth that the garment provided. Her mind soon seemed to loose all track of time, as she curiously looked over the various artefacts that were positioned around the room, most of her attention being focused upon the medical equipment.
