Re: Another Masqurade in the Renaissance Hotel
Curiously he watched the box as it was passed across the table towards him, opening it a couple of inches with one finger to peer inside. “Pizza, enjoy” Once the steam caused by the heat coming off the contents had disappeared he eagerly eyed the contents, then, deciding that it was probably safe he opened the box fully… it looked unlike any food he had seen before, a round bready substance covered in what looked like melted cheese, topped with an assortment of other pieces of foodstuffs.

Outside Percy heard some movement, he guessed that it was probably the man with the bird… Draven his name was, ignoring this he searched around the table for some cutlery, taking little notice of the knocking on the door and the talking, after all it would not be right to ask too many questions.

Gingerly he cut a small piece off one of the pizza slices then popped it into his mouth, half expecting something strange to happen, though he didn’t know why, and sort of enjoyed the strange flavour of the food. Whilst tucking into the food in front of him he caught movement out of the corner of his eye, but a quick glance showed it to only be Draven, taking no further interest in the man he went back to the pizza.

“bloody Christ jenn”

The exclamation made him look up towards spike from what he was doing, Choking on the food at the sight of the semi naked woman he dropped his fork on the floor. After a short coughing fit he averted his eyes from her, though he still had to take another glance.. just to check that he was seeing it correctly… from where he came from women would never go around wearing such an outfit, even their undergarments were less revealing than that, though he wouldn’t really know as he had never seen a woman with so little on before.

Quickly he thought of something else, it would not do to be thinking of such matters as her apparent lack of clothing, instead he fixed his mind on something a little less embarrassing… chairs for example, managing to run over several different types and designs of chair before she disappeared from sight. With a sigh of relief he bent over to pick the fork up, though he was a little disappointed, he had hoped to ask her about being a slayer at some point.. Maybe next time she would be a little less naked

“Doctor”

“Yes… certainly” he glanced over at Draven opposite him, the staring was beginning to unnerve the inventor, though he did it a lot himself and realized now how people must feel when he did it. Looking away from Draven he turned back to spike who appeared to be tucking into the food in front of him, strange, he thought that vampires were incapable of eating proper food… he would have to question him about it later, but at the moment there were more pressing questions… he was still in shock from Jennifer’s brief appearance

“so do all women dress like that?” he motioned towards the door with the fork “or is it just slayers, because I can imagine that it offers little protection… not that a slayer needs protection, though she appears quite small… but that’s not necessarily a bad thing” he realized that he was babbling and digging himself a large hole near the beginning of the sentence, but was unable to stop himself… it was a nervous thing and he put it down as the main reason he had never had a girlfriend, it was just too hard to talk to them

Re: Another Masqurade in the Renaissance Hotel
A wishful desire that this food had more taste to it then the numb blandness… there was a tastelessness that didn’t disgust him though, one quite tolerable and in Spike’s mind that registered as something he would enjoy if he could only truly taste the sensations basically everyone took for granted. Some things had an unpleasant tastelessness, and would leave a somewhat foul after-tastelessness, needless to say it made it a little odd for Spike to explain things to people and Arisa had found his explanation of ‘after-tastelessness’ quite amusing.

“so do all women dress like that?” William’s eyes lifted to stare across at Percy with a slightly raised brow in surprise of the blunt question, had it been William who just witnessed such a sight the timid poet would have just zoned out and acted as if he had seen nothing at all “or is it just slayers, because I can imagine that it offers little protection… not that a slayer needs protection, though she appears quite small… but that’s not necessarily a bad thing” A humorous smile faintly danced in the corners of Spike’s lips, now that was more like the William he used to be, senselessly babbling, a few men did it but because William was so intelligent some of the things he’d say would go over the heads of the people he was speaking with and they’d stroke their slightly bruised ego by putting the poet down, so usually William had someone else speak over him or they’d make fun of something or excuse themselves or stare at him in a way that would force William to trail off and go silent.

“The material is light an’ allows the skin to breath, it doesn’t heat up the body like cotton or wool so it’s perfect to wear durin’ trainin’, men and woman tend to wear thing’s like’at when working out, she usually wears longer pants. But Jenn likes to show off with style, lotta woman flash what they got, smooth stomach, long legs, slender arms, hips…” A slight pause while Spike placed his fork down and put the end of his finger against the base of his neck, letting it trail down towards his chest while he spoke with a teasing smirk. “Low cut tops,” The intense blue eyes has a mischievous twinkle in them but slipped off to Draven who was still staring at Percy as if expecting the man to suddenly do something very interesting that Draven was eagerly not wanting to miss. An annoyed clearing of Spike’s throat, followed by the vampire picking up his fork and tapping the table with it to get Draven’s attention.

The dark eyes of the other man looked towards the origin of the noise and stared with interest at the way sound was coming from the simple movement, but once the chocolate hued gaze settled their attention on the fork, Spike stopped and Draven looked up at the vampire instead.

“We already talked about you starin’ at the guests.” Draven looked a little downtrodden at the comment like a child who had been told off with a scolding, but a slamming of the front door pulled both their attentions over towards the doorway that let them see into the entrance hall. Arisa was back from her usual night out, the slamming of the door hinting something was wrong as her blue furred body hurriedly moved up the stairs, her tail flicking behind her in her rush to lock herself away in her room. Spike dropped his fork again and stood up quickly, concern etched into his body language as he moved away from the table, “Take care o’Percy Crow,” Was all that was called back over his shoulder as Spike hurried off and up the stairs to see what was wrong with the youngest daughter of the infamous X-men, Wolverine.

Draven tilted his head a little, but turned his attention back to Percy, once again resuming his staring though it wasn’t intentional, he just wasn’t sure what Spike had asked him to do… was Percy hurt? He didn’t look hurt… The feathered bird climbed from the table onto Draven’s arm, the sharp talons digging into the undead mans flesh threw his long sleeved black top, which was already riddled with holes. Though Draven didn’t seem affected by the pinching grip of the bird as it moved up to his shoulder, it’s back to Percy and the table while the tiny black eyes focused on the objects in the room, looking over the furniture and then settling on the fire place that wasn’t currently in use. It called out, a slightly haunting cry that rippled through every corner of the room and echoed in the ears.

The human features of Draven where alit with curiosity towards the new comer, and he was finally going to speak to the human – Draven hasn’t interacted with a real human before, only two mutants and mostly demons – but as the Avenging Angel’s lips began to part, the door to Angel’s basement room opened with the dark and often brooding champion emerging. Black trousers and similar colour t-shirt adorned his perfect bulk of well defined contours and broad chest, appealing and attractive yet his expression seemed tempered by something as he looked around, a once neatly folded letter in one hand and a warm mug of blood in the other.

“Spike!” Angel called out with displeasure over something as he waited expectedly for the other vampire to appear.

“He is attending to Arisa,” Came a rather placid reply from Draven who was now content in staring at the older undead, Angel was used to it so easily could over look the habit Draven currently had. But the elder of the vampires gave a frustrated look as moved into the room instead of standing at the doorway.

“The Watcher’s council is sending over people, what right do they think they have to come to my hotel and check on us? I don’t send my people over to their…!” The tone of voice was indignant and upset yet managed to not be raised too much despite his anger, though his attention now drifted over to Percy, he hadn’t really heard Spike introduce him earlier or paid attention to him at the time so Angel didn’t recognise the face sitting at the table. Realizing he was human the discomfort of having a mug of blood (though Percy wouldn’t be able to see the contents) caused Angel to hide it behind the letter as he lowered his voice and directed a question towards Draven while offering Percy a weak little smile. “He’s not a Watcher is he…?” There was a strained smile while he mumbled to Draven, brown eyes still on Percy though he looked a little humiliated (and Percy would hear everything he said) but Draven looked at Percy in an obvious sign of not knowing the answer.

“I didn’t mean anything negative by… you know,” Angel started, a little lost for words as he addressed Percy with the mistaken thought he was from the Watchers Council, “It’s just you know, we’re demon hunters, you’re…” Saying Side line watchers who don’t help out In the slightest came to mind but saying that probably wasn’t going to help him out of this situation, “…helping potentials and… slayers…” The words seemed struggled, obviously Angel had issues with the council that – even when trying to be polite – was showing through the stress of his words, “I think you’re just being a little unfair because of this whole ‘being a soulled vampire’ situation, not to mention Rogue is working with me instead of the council, I’m sure that has something to do with all this sudden interest you lot seem to have in us,” Alright, and the whole being Angelus at one point and nearly sucking the earth into a hell dimension for kicks was on the tip of his tongue but he quite cheerfully reframed from mentioning that…

the explanation sounded sensible at first after all it is an advantage to be able to move freeely though percy preferred to be protected better, though as the vampire continued he got the impression that he was playing around, teasing the young inventor

As William left the room to follow the girl who had just charged up the stairs he went back to the food on the table in front of him, wolfing it down hungrily, ever aware that he was being watched by the strange dead guy as if he was the main attraction at some sort of zoo.

ignoring him he turned his attention to the guy who had just walked in.. 'Angel' Spike had said his name was. at first he wondered what he was going on about but as he continued and attempted to give a hasty sucking up speech he guessed that it was a case of mistaken identity

“the watchers council…” he sounded excited at hearing the name, he had read a bit about them a few years ago, same time he heard of slayers actually, and they sounded an interesting group of people. “no I’m not one of them, though they seem to do a lot of good work against evil, in all the books they’re portrayed as such a noble organization with the good of humanity at heart.. I doubt that I could match up to their standards” he paused to eat some more before pointing to Angel “they must be so thrilled to have two tame vampires working for them”

it struck him suddenly that he hadn’t introduced himself properly “sorry, the name’s Percy.. Percy Oakwood, I’m not from around here” standing up he offered out his hand to the man, he probably didn’t need to say much about when he had come from, after all his clothes did give it away slightly “I’m a novice demon hunter, though I have a few devices that give me the edge over most demonic opponents” he elaborated, in theory his inventions could give him the edge, but having never met many demons he really didn’t know how good they were

Re: Another Masqurade in the Renaissance Hotel
“the watchers council…” Angel felt himself relax a little, the Council knew he didn’t like them, just like they didn’t like him, but that didn’t mean he needed to outwardly insult one and then have the hole damn British mob on his tail… not that all Watchers were British, it just seemed that way. “no I’m not one of them, though they seem to do a lot of good work against evil, in all the books they’re portrayed as such a noble organization with the good of humanity at heart.. I doubt that I could match up to their standards” Yeah, a lotta good they do. Librarians with a fancy title was all they were, the only real help they were was in training a slayer and watching out for potentials, otherwise most of them just sat on the sidelines, only a few went out and put their knowledge to good use and most of them were looked down upon for one reason or another. “they must be so thrilled to have two tame vampires working for them” At that comment Angel went extremely quiet for a moment, the word ‘tame’ repeating over in his mind as he tried to figure out how to reply to that insult and which was worse, being called tame or said to be working for the Council.

“sorry, the name’s Percy.. Percy Oakwood, I’m not from around here” And he wouldn’t be staying around here long hopefully, though Angel tried to keep a placid face since the man didn’t seem unpleasant, just extremely naïve. “I’m a novice demon hunter, though I have a few devices that give me the edge over most demonic opponents.” Alright, that all sounded nice and well – at least Angel thought so with a sarcastic edge on his inward comments - but out of formality Angel took the mans hand, looking a torn between being confused and trying to take this all under his stride.

"…I’m sorry, what are you doing here again?" Finally the vampire gave up the struggle to not appear too rude as his curiosity took hold and the displeasure gained from the man’s previous comments showed a little.

"The human is our guest." Draven replied with a keen look given to Angel, Draven looked forward to interacting with a real human, it has been months since he has seen one other then Arisa and the girl never talked with him. "Can we keep him?" It didn’t come out the way Draven actually intended it, he was meaning to ask if Angel minded since the vampire didn’t seem overly keen in the past to having humans staying in the hotel. He had been less then willing at first to have Arisa here and now Spike has brought another human, but this one was a demon hunter, which meant Draven may be able to work with the man at one point.

An uncertain stare was given to Draven for a moment before Angel focused on Percy again, deciding to ignore the request Draven made for the time in case he was asking for the human as a pet.

"We don’t work for the Council," Was the first thing the soulled vampire stated and then followed a rather insistent remark, "And we aren’t tamed, we have souls, there’s a difference." They were no one’s pets, Angel wouldn’t lower himself to being someone else’s servant! If he was going to fight demons, he would do it in his own way, he does not need Watchers getting in his way making things difficult.

"Are you looking for work?" Now there was a more serious look about him, "Because there’s no pay here, we only divide whatever is earned from each job." There was a curious study of Percy’s attire, just because he dressed oddly didn’t mean there was something seriously wrong with him… maybe he had a strong desire to look like watchers or just had a peculiar dress sense, he’d ask Spike more about it later… He knew Spike had to be behind inviting this man, Spike always seemed to be bringing home strays.

Re: Another Masqurade in the Renaissance Hotel
ooc: sorry its a bit rushed.. and i dunno how long either :o

As Angel took his hand he could feel the strength in his grip instantly "…I’m sorry, what are you doing here again?" Percy looked surprised for a second, William had called to him earlier when he arrived, but maybe he hadn’t heard..

"The human is our guest”

The strange dead man spoke before Percy could get a word out to explain his arrival, instead pretended he wasn’t going to speak by pretending that he opened his mouth to chew something, though he didn’t think he’d puled it off that well. "Can we keep him?" The inventor shot a worried glance towards Draven, surely he didn’t mean It in the way his question had come out, though by the looks of things Angel was thinking the same thing as Percy at this moment in time.

As he stared at Draven trying to work out what he had meant he became aware that the vampire had turned his gaze in Percy’s direction, instinctively he turned towards him.. it was impolite not to look at someone when they spoke to you. "We don’t work for the Council, And we aren’t tamed, we have souls, there’s a difference." He nodded, not really knowing it were the right thing to do, though he had to acknowledge somehow... Guessing that he had probably struck a nerve by using the word ‘tame’

"Are you looking for work? Because there’s no pay here, we only divide whatever is earned from each job."

Was the vampire asking him if Percy wanted to work with them? Or was he just asking in general… the inventor paused for a while before answering, taking note of the fact that his prospective employer was eyeing his clothing in a strange manner… maybe he was not aware of the fashion of Percy’s time. Taking Angels question as being the first one he smiled “I would be honored to work for you… but I should probably learn a few things about this century first, it could get a little awkward otherwise. I have already shown William a few of my inventions, but maybe later I could give you a demonstration if you’re not too busy” this place looked exciting, perhaps he would be able to fit in around here
