Washington DC Party
Paging Michael McDonnell -- I got at error message when I tried to email you at Winstar.
Has there been any thought put into location/organization of the DC party?

Mike McDonnell is no good to us...
I just got off the phone with Mike, he can "no longer be reached at Winstar" because he -like 80% of the company in the last few months- was told to take a few months of paid vacation, and then don't come back. He's therefore made the obvious decision and is living in our group beach house on the Delaware shore for the rest of the summer. He has suggested that anyone in Dewey Beach this Friday night meet at the Lighthouse Bar(he'll be wearing his pith or Viking helmet of course) for a few Duffs. There's even an internet cafe next door to check the outcome...

Unfortunately this mean he's out of the running for organizing anything in DC for Friday night. If anyone else is interested this board may be a good place to get the word out....

All right, brain...
DC people, if we're to have a simpsons bash this week, we need to act fast.
Is anybody interested? If so, does anybody have good suggestions for
where to go/etc?

Feel free to contact me on here or at gmarchan@angelfire.com;
pass it on as necessary.

...You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get
back to killing you with beer.

Could still happen in DC
There are a group of us that have been following the pool here in DC - orignally we were thinking of having a get-together in Capitol Hill - maybe at the Politiki on Pennsylvania between 3rd and 4th?
However we may be able to be coaxed to move elsewhere....Any other takers?

Re: Party
Politiki sounds good. I'm not particularly familiar with it, although I've been to
the Pourhouse -- is there any distinctive separate area there where Simpsons
people could gather? Do they have TVs? maybe we could get them to throw
on a few classic episodes.

I'm thinking around 9 or so is a good start time. Anybody who plans to attend
is encouraged to bring/wear any and all Simpsons stuff (shirts, stuffed animals,
posters, whatever) that they happen to have. Bonus cool
points for dressing as characters. (extra bonus cool points for wearing a
greyhound fur tuxedo.)

Monday instead of Friday?
My apologies but there has been some discussion in the ranks of our small but enthused road to springfield group and most of us can't make it on Friday so we were actually thinking about a Happy Hour Monday at Politiki - so either there could be two DC days - (which a tourney of this nature deserves) - or we could consolidate - and yes I think they do have TV's at politiki and/or pourhouse.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Andrea

Monday may be better
Friday happy hours in August with Congress on break are pretty quite here. If we want to do it as a 'Happy Hour' then I think Monday would be better. If people want to do it later in the evening then Friday is still good though I don't know that you'd want to do it on Capital Hill. Maybe Dupont Circle or Adams Morgan instead.

par-tay

personally, I would prefer Friday, and the main reason is that friday
night is when we find out the winner. There's something cool about
partying up to the stroke of midnight (or so) when the final vote
tally comes in and we find out who's the champion. (barring a strange
re-enactment of the recent presidential election.)

in addition, there would be the added coolness of knowing that we
were, in some metaphysical sense, partying with tens or perhaps
hundreds of other Road to Springfield fans across the country that
friday night.

friday night on the hill, even in august, there's still plenty of people
around... but if someone knows somewhere better to go -- perhaps
somebody knows a bartender or somebody who owns a place
somewhere, maybe we could arrange a group deal -- speak up.

washington dc party?
hi. i'm down with a friday party and i think the members of the small but devoted bunch of us gummint lawyers could be induced to come out. if people want to go out on the hill, might i also suggest capitol lounge? it's one of the less scary of the hill venues. otherwise, politiki sounds good. what kind of turnout are we looking at here?

let me know if i can do anything to help. it's the least i can do ("well, technically the least i can do is nothing. but i'll do you one better...")

indeed it is your home. and your home is a dank urine soaked cespool of crime.

i suggest we each bring our own booze, (with mad dog being my personal choice) maybe a little herb, and all run around the mall area screaming "the british are coming." :hat

Mad Dog??
Cerebral Assassin?? Yea okay you are really cool! Seriously though everyone should layoff Captiol Hill. My vote if it means anything is for a Friday party on the Hill. So what if it is empty, that means us road to springfield fans got the place to ourseleves. That is my two cents.

Mad Dog??
capitol hill disgusts me. but the bars are cool there on the weekend. lots of room - which i need when i'm right in the middle of an all night binge. i also like capitol hill on the weekends b/c i don't have to deal with polo-shirt wearing, laptop using, cell phone calling, mommy and daddy's credit card using phony pieces of yuppie pond scum.

and joe.

"Cerebral Assassin?? Yea okay you are really cool!"

is this supposed to be derogetory? what the f*ck? don't get so defensive about your disease ridden section of the city killer. don't take it so personally champ.

Friday night party
alright, sounds like there's enough interest in a friday night party to make it happen.
we'll go with the original "plan" -- meet at poli-tiki sometime around 9, or whenever
you feel like it, and we'll drink beer until the big announcement at 12.

Wendy, you made the mistake of asking if you could help somehow -- therefore, I'm
putting you in charge of figuring out some way that party-goers can find each other
in the bar. Like a big sign that says "road to springfield party" or a lifesize homer
simpson cutout or something.

everybody else, if you can think of any cool stuff to do at the party, lets hear it.
otherwise, just come prepared to engage in frenzied debate about your favorite
characters, and prepare for more favorite-line quoting than at a monty python
convention.

in the meantime, avoid shaking hands with old people, and be sure to take plenty
of Extra-Drowsy Formula capsules.

Re: Friday night party
do you think the poli-tiki will allow such offbeat shenanigans? i've been there before and some of those bartenders are tough. one's a marine with staples in his head! something tells me he wouldn't stand for a big homer simpson in his bar.

my suggestion is, that each and every one of us screams out "whaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuppppppp" when we come down the stairs!

ok partners, let's keep on :rollin g

Re: RE:Friday Night Party
that "thing" is a rolling drunken head.

i get the feeling you are trying to paint me in a negative light, you arrogant little @#%$. i bet you're from the north. a typical yankee, always trying to stomp on the southern way of life. i'll have you know that my name is allen churchill and i will ruin you. i know people in this town. my daddy is a lawyer and i know the chief of staff.

as for recognizing me, i'll be the one with a florescent green baseball jersey and a purple pony-tail. i'll bring the ladders. the politiki should already have tables and chairs.

i cannot WAIT to get absolutely shitcanned with all you people. i love you all. except joe. joe has been pretty mean.
