mile and duece
Bobby Krause, Jimmy Joy, Justin Curtis, Justin Ellison, John Badaloto, Dan Renahan, Brendan Martin. All of which were 4:35 or under last year and under 10.

Miller could compete in the mile if he decides to go that high and if he can breathe.

running with asthma in the winter is extremely tough, any runner who runs winter track with asthma with all the wheezing has serious balls

that kid might be right...
Even the 2 mile on the track requires a lot of leg speed, and considering, correct me if I'm wrong, Merber didn't go well below 5 or even below 5 in the mile last year for a single mile. So that would show that it is unlikely for him to be able to run two back to back sub-5 minute miles.

last year
last year means nothing, as most really good frosh dont have leg speed yet, and who knows if he focused on the mile

you have...
you have to break 5 in the mile before break 10 minutes in the 2 mile...and most people who break 10:30 in the 2 mile should be able to hit sub-5.

For MOST, not all, runners..it usually works out like...

2:10 half
4:48 mile
10:30 duece

2:06 half
4:38 mile
9:50-10:05 duece

Thats what it usually comes out to be, unless your a middle distance runner or just long distance guy, but for the most part that scale usually works

Re: ...
i disagree and that the 800 and mile can be compared and the mile and 2 mile as well but the 800- 2 mile is way to different
if u want to get sub 4:40 i think a 2:07 could get that and a 10 minute is about a 4:35-4:40 but just because some1 gets a 2:07 u cant assume that they can get a 10 minute

there's this book i'm reading by the cortland coach, and it gives VDOT values for times in popular races. a VDOT value is your psuedo vVO2 MAX. which is just a fancy way of saying how fast u go, when ur trying ur hardest. the VDOT chart that i read set these times equal in intensity.

400-56*
800-2:03*
1500-4:10
1600-4:30
3000-8:55-
3200-9:37-
5000-15:29-
10000-32:11-
half marathon-1:11:00-
marathon-2:28:40-

*pertaining only to mid-distance runners
-pertaining only to distance runners

now it's not saying that if u run 4:30 than u can run 2:28:40 in the marathon. what it says is that these 2 runners would train at the same intensity, and differ in focus

mile 2 mile
i ran 2:15 at suffolk west
4:42 at the armory
and 10:06 in the 3200 all within a few weeks of each other (the 800 wasnt fresh so maybe like a 2:13 at suffolk west)

Make them all at suffolk west and i was 215-4:45-10:06...those were all my times at suffolk west

i had no speed, i was a 60 second quarter miler and i think i was aobut a 2:13 and the other 2 were fast races

scale
the scale isnt the most accurate thing in the world, personally i ran nothing close to being on that scale, yes i was a "mid-distance" runner, but i was doing the same workouts as the distance runners on the team.

400- 52.6
800- 2:03.2
1600- 4:52.xx
3200- 10:28.xx

I never really raced the 1600 when i was in peak form but i think it shows that it really goes from runner to runner.
