Re: Uk Newbie
Thats great being so convenient for you. Takes me an hour to an hour and a half depending on M25. Then usual have to wait bout 2 hours when I get there...hee,hee. Turns into a day out! Maybe I'l bring the picnic hamper next time
Re: Uk Newbie
Oh gee... make us all jealous. Mayday has a number of cafes by the main entrance, but it's not that close to the clinic so I'm not sure if you can nip out for a quick coffee. On Annie's advice, I took some water and snacks with the last time... although perhaps next time I shouldn't drink quite as much water!!
Re: Uk Newbie
I think I may just have stumbled upon an easier way of contacting Beverley... phone at lunchtime and leave a message on the answering machine! The answering machine answers quite quickly, and she called me back within the hour...
I'll post an update on the coffee status at Mayday next Monday, assuming I get the appointment Mr A requested.
Coffee options at Mayday
As promised... there are a wealth of coffee options: Burger King, Upper Crust as well as Caffe Ritazza! None of them are free though but still a nice stopping point after waiting at the pharmacy for ages...
Re: Coffee options at Mayday
Caffe Ritazza! I always have a coffee there on my way home from Birmingham. It's next to the departure board at the railway station. I miss trains sometimes.
I've been a patient of Mr. Ayliffe's for umm...... must be about 5 or 6 years - without going and checking my file downstairs I can't be accurate.
I don't get on here too often now although I did in the beginning and got such amazing support. Thanks to my local hospital being as useful as a chocolate teapot I ended up with chronic recurring uvietis and along the way various other nasties. I actually found this site while still suffering at my local hospital and from here found Mr. Ayliffe... and kept my sight!!
I've had some nasty flares over the years and Mr. A. said he thought I could lose my eye when I had the last one. Thanks to him I didn't and also thanks to him I've been flare free for 20 months and am officially in remission... long may it last.
I never questioned his treatment although for me it was steriod drops almost continuously with Acyclovir and orals thrown in for good luck on occasion. I haven't used anything except artificial tears for over a year now. My sight in my affected eye isn't good but it's still there and I still have the eye.
It's good to see the UK site being used more and everyone having fun although I know you all have some rough times along the way.
Anyway, after that little lot what I wanted to say was good luck to all of you with your treatment and I hope you all have the outcome I've got at the moment.
Re: Mr. Ayliffe
hi all, just wanted to post on here to say hi, my fiance Stuart is another Manchester patient, must say I have never used the coffee bar there but the pub on the corner is good and there's always McDonalds around the corner too, or Subway! We normally get something in the train station to eat on the way home. Hope you are all doing ok xx
