help please, new hurt mouse
hey everyone. i work at petsmart. we had 2 fancy mice that seemed ti fight a bit, seperated them.. i guess someone thoughtit was a mistake and put them back together. i found them fighting again last nite. one is perfectly fine, not a scratch. the other had blood on his back and scratches all over his tail. i gave him a new cage alone and put neosporin on his cuts. hes shaking alot, and doesnt really try to run anymore when you want to pick him up. hes not doing too good. my manager said we had to adopt him out because the hair may not grow back and he cant be sold like that. so i asked if i could take him and he said yes. so tomorrow im bringing the injured little fancy mouse home. i have a 2.5 gallon tank, if i put bedding and the bottom will he be ok in that? im gonna continue nosporin once or twice a day, until hes healed. i have mouse food and a 4 oz water bottle for him... but i dont know how to take care of mice. i just know what to feed them and stuff like at the store. what else does he need? and is there anything better than neosporin for him? please respond, im taking him home tomorrow nite and i want him to heal as best as he can, he seems so sad right now :-( thanks
hey you should probably take it to the vet and ask them what to do as soon as you can. About the cage, the shavings in the bottom should be aspen (carefresh is good too, that's what i use). He needs a house someplace dark where he can feel safe. I think petsmart sells house for rodents. Its neccessary to put an exercise wheel in too. You'll need one thats solid no openings between the rungs. I also have another house in my cage. it was supposed to be a litter box but the mice thought otherwise . I hope that helps. ooh there was one crucial thing I forgot. She needs a friend! Preferably a girl from her litter, so they get along. I assure you caring for 2 mice is just as easy as caring for one and it will make her happy. About bedding DONT USE PINE OR CEDAR. the oils in the litter cause liver damage or failure, which will kill your little mousies.
