lunchtime
ooc: herego angie... as promised one Dan post

The mechanic had given up for the day, there was not much more Dan could do to Fate today for the parts he had ordered were still in transit, so all that could be done now was to wait. Locking his personal tools inside the landrover the mechanic left the garage, it was close to lunchtime and the young man’s stomach was rumbling somewhat so lunch was probably in order right about now.

Making his way through the hallways towards the dining hall he dropped by his room to quickly wash his hands and change his oily work jeans for something a little more casual. It did not take long to change clothes and Dan was soon leaving his room, a simple pair of baggy blue jeans, black canvas belt with a skull on the buckle and a black T shirt with flame design on the back… for someone who liked to go unnoticed he did tend to stand out in a crowd at over six foot tall.

The dining hall was busier than usual for this time but the young man was not too bothered with the waiting, its just that his favourite table in the corner of the room out of the way was probably taken by now. But he did not have to wait for food… the busyness had happened before so this time he had come prepared and made some sandwiches at breakfast.

“Excuse me… sorry.” He carefully made his way to his favourite table In the corner hoping it was not taken… sure enough no one was sitting there, but there were a few bit of rubbish there from where someone had left not too long ago. With a sigh he placed his wrapped sandwiches and can of drink onto the table, picked up the rubbish and took it to a bin. Now he could relax... his stomach reminding him that it was still there and still rather empty *should have had more for breakfast* he thought to himself as he sat down and began to unwrap his lunch.

Glancing round the room most of the other tables were rather full and loud, this one was empty apart from Dan and though he would dearly love to keep it that way the mechanic was too polite to not let anyone sit there if they so wanted… in fact he was such a pushover that he would most likely move if they asked him nicely. But normally this table got overlooked by most people because it was out of the way and rather quiet in comparison to the middle of the room *Though my own room is quieter still* Dan thought to himself again, noticing his sister Ann leaving the dining hall with a group of people… she was much more social than the young man was.

He sighed, secretly wishing that he was able to talk to people as well as she was… the only person he had spoken to off his own accord so far was Hannah earlier in the week, and that was rather awkward for the most part For Dan. But he was not too bothered about not talking to anyone, he spoke to his sister and occasionally her friends but it did not take long for him to run out of things to say to people and the inevitable silence that ensued did not do well for making friends

Re: lunchtime
The journey from Angela’s bedroom to the dinning hall was more of an effort then the young mutant felt she was really eager to commit. However her supply of biscuits ran out and her juice was almost done with as well, she needed a restock and raiding the kitchen would be a task on the way back to her room after grabbing something to eat. Which meant she’d have to grab her meal in the hall, lugging a load of food back to her room was far from appealing for the empath and all Angie wanted was a nice lazy day… though that was rather typical for her…

The walk was not a lonely one however, Fear trailed along beside her and was proof alone of how Angie’s powers were slowly progressing, from a ghostly ball he was now a more physical entity, and perhaps more frightening for most who saw the purple dragon walking down the halls with the young woman. Like a large dog in size, Fear’s arrow headed tail flicked about behind him as he walked on all fours, currently his set of wings were not visible, some Angie was discovering she could add or remove with little effort in her thoughts. Working with Connor had helped push the girl into taking more control, Fear was not some strange entity she had no control over, instead he was her, a part of her, and though she treated the creature as if he were a separate being, Angela kept the knowledge to aid her better in the molding of his very appearance.

Still bearing the red eyes with a faint glow to them, he did now have a slit pupil to go with them, two curved horns sat either side of his head, running close to his skull before curving at the tips. Various aspects changed here and there, being the artist Angela was, she’d not be satisfied until she felt he was perfect, and perfect is all Fear deserved after all this time of friendship he has given her.

Claws lightly scratched the floor as they entered the large hall; Angela’s grayish green and black trimmed sneakers peeked from beneath the folds of her army pants that dragged about her shoes and fell to the floor as she walked. It was hopeless folding them, and in truth Angie didn’t entirely mind.. A black belt wrapped about her waist, two rows of square metal studs and a black t-shirt with shirt sleeves, the material of which looked as if it had gray and white paint splatters all over it, with a few dollops of grayish pink on the chest, where a semi-faded skull could be made out in the background and nestled in a mass of pale gray lines that were hard to make out as the outlines of the flowery designs they were. Brown hair had the upper half tied up, a clip pinning the ponytail against the head and the hair flowing over it to hide the grown and black clip from view, the rest of the hair still loose and falling past her shoulders to the middle of her back. The hair was straight for the most part, starting to wave further down it got till it almost curled at the tips, a light fringe was also brushed to the sides of her face, a pale beige lip-gloss and fine black eyeliner all she had as makeup.

Over the last few weeks Angie had gotten more then just a little used to people’s reactions to Fear, which were either a started pull back and hasty step away, or a surprised stare and sudden barrage of questions… even the odd ‘can I pat it?’ sprouted up here and there. The noise from the hustle and bustle of the lunchtime commotion went largely unheard as Angie lined up, two almost unnoticeable white cords slipped from out of the back of Angie’s shirt and reaching for her ears, which were plugged with her headphones, listening to her random collection of songs that she’d obtained mostly over the internet. Fear meanwhile stayed close, his body constantly pressed against her leg while they were at a standstill, an occasional hand reached down to pet Fear’s head as he peered up at her expectantly.

Finally food was collected and a table searched for, a dish held within her small hands and lightly loaded with sliced lamb and a dollop of gravy and a side serving of peas, carrots and most importantly her favorite thing, chips. Under her arm tucked a bottle of soda, her fingers grasping onto a set of knife and fork while she walked away from the center of the hall and trailed up the edge of the hall, chocolate eyes peering across the tables in search of some room…preferably on a less crowded one.

"Hmm.." Thoughtful eyes landed on a corner table, it was near empty save for the sole occupant, but that just happened to be a bloke, one she wasn’t familiar with too… not that she was familiar with many people at all. "Well Fear… time to silently attempt to socialize." Hesitant steps carried her forward, drawing her up towards the table mainly unnoticed by the direction she approached, though hovering at the edge of the table for a moment definitely made her a target for inspection once she arrived there. "..Would….. you mind if we sat here?" Angie said ‘we’ in referring to her purple companion, who remained half hidden behind her legs as his attention seemed off towards the bustling horde of students at the louder tables, though an occasional glance seemed to peer at Dan through the corner of Fear’s crimson gaze.

Re: lunchtime
Glancing up from his rather boring looking sandwich Dan could not help but notice that a girl had sidled up to the table, some rather strange creature standing behind her… raising an eyebrow at the creature he shyly tried not to look at her too much, though he did notice that she was rather attractive which made it even harder for him to open his mouth to say something. . "..Would….. you mind if we sat here?" for a second the mechanic froze, not sure what to do “erm… sure” he replied shyly looking her in the face for a moment before realising he was doing so and shooting a glance back at the creature behind her

There were many strange things in this school he decided… and this creature clearly was one of them, probably a pet of the girl who had just invaded his peaceful silence and caused the poor nervous guy to become all embarrassed about being there himself. Silently the mechanic looked the creature over, it appeared to be some form of dragon and the young man wanted dearly to say something about it but his mind was stopping the words from forming before he even had a chance to think them

Carefully trying not to seem as if he was ignoring her, but at the same time not wanting to seem as if he were staring Dan picked up a sandwich from the wrapping in front of him and took a bite, giving a longing lance at her collection of food as he swallowed the sandwich and realised that it was a little on the dreary side. But then again that was what most of his life was like, a compromise of him not wanting to put anyone out or get in the way, and so rather than getting in someone’s way in the queue he had made his own lunch which was rather sub standard. The only thing that was not a compromise was Fate… the large landrover was the only thing he owned that was not a compromise, all the parts were the best, the engine was in immaculate condition and all the components were lovingly tuned to perfection.

A rustling in his back pocket as he nervously shifted his position reminded him of a magazine that had been stuffed there on the way out of his room so as he could peruse some of the new parts on the market, though he would not be able to take it out and read now, that would be too rude and the mechanic was no one for being rude. “I’m Dan..” he broke his silence quietly, his English accent probably sounding strange compared to all the Americans around, not sure even if he’d said that out loud “……” he opened his mouth slightly as if he were about to speak but nothing came out… once more his mind had failed him, telling Dan that he was going to get a slap and she was going to leave… that he would be ridiculed by everyone around him now all because he had opened his mouth and said his name.

Ignoring the creature sitting with the girl he could not help but want to say something… part of him screaming to speak but the rest of him holding back. he sighed quietly, this had happened with Hannah the other day when he bumped into her, this always happened and right now he was wondering why she would want to talk to him when there were so many other people in the room that were much better looking than he was. Glancing around his inferiority complex cut in and began to list the things that were wrong with him, her mere presence making him think about how unattractive he must seem compared to these other guy’s with their perfect hair, perfect clothes and perfect looks… it made him feel really insecure sitting amongst them.

Re: lunchtime
First thing first… Angie was noticed, that was an improvement, the amount of times people ignored her, even when speaking, were countless really. Even at home… then again, that’s what made Fear so important to her, the one companion who would listen, regardless of the TV shows on, the tiring day at work, the more important life being lead. No matter what, he’d have time, he’d be hers, he’d listen and play and comfort her. That didn’t mean however that Angie could list happily without anyone else’s company. Any thing that didn’t involve her getting glared at was an improvement, though she had Taylor and now Matt, the only faces she really considered familiar to her in a friendly manner. Taylor however was seeming to pull away, and it annoyed Angie when people did that, be friends one minute, then drift off and seem to shrug her aside as if they saw some fault in her. Oh well, it was the price of friendships, some were devastating, others were truly priceless, you had to suffer the first in order to be lucky enough to find one of the latter.

“erm… sure” Fingers fidgeted with the edge of the tray, he was shy, that was obvious, was it general or because of Fear? Somehow Angie felt it was general, that was something she understood well, and the way he didn’t stare at Fear as some others did told her he wasn’t so edgy around the creature.

The light brown haired girl took a seat, the blonde streaks in her fringe seen despite the way her hair was done up, some of her fringe still curtained the side of her face. Fear curled up under the table, resting against Angela’s feet comfortably and allowed Angie to settle down with her meal and decide how best to tackle it.

“I’m Dan..” Chocolate eyes lifted, gazing across at the table to the other and offering a curt little smile, inhibited only by the unease she held around strangers. Now… if she were comfortable with someone, happy and content, the girl could be was loud and happy as any other, or more so in some situations… The older girl would have continued on with a reply of her name right away, but the guy opened his mouth and Angie waited for the English, at least he sounded from England way, to finish speaking. “……” The lips parted, the words seemed ready to roll, and yet only silence ensued. There was only the slightest of tilts of Angie’s head as she watched him, her eyes lifting from his lips to his eyes and back down again, as if still waiting for them to move, to at least mumble something she may be able to lip read if nothing else.

"I’m Angie. Down there’s Fear, he won’t bite." An urge to say ‘he swallows whole’ rose but she pushed it aside, teasing with her team mates and teasing random people were two different things. Team-mates knew she meant well, strangers didn’t always get the same impression. Her eyes glanced at his meal… the sandwich didn’t look like something that was on offer, the ones up for grabs were more filled, fluffier and packed with different things. This one looked more homemade, Angie wondered if there was a reason, you never know… there could be. "Not very hungry?" She was so nervous of eating in front of people, she felt like she was on display even if no one was watching her. Angie opted to take a sip from her drink instead, her fork toying with the potatoes.

Re: lunchtime
"I’m Angie. Down there’s Fear, he won’t bite." Continuing to reluctantly munch on his sandwich he leaned over a bit to his right so as he could look under the table at the creature that was curled up at her feet, not too far from his own. If he was not so shy then he might comment on the ‘dragon’ but all he could manage was small smile as he straightened and returned to his rather unappetising sandwich

"Not very hungry?" again he glanced up at the girl, wanting more and more to say something rather than just sit looking stupid and rude. *ok* he thought *you can do this dan… you did it before with Hannah, chances are that this girl is not going to be horrible… she doesn’t look the horrible type* ok it was time to bite the bullet, he had to say something otherwise this could turn out rather badly, and who knows they might get on

he swallowed the mouthful of sandwich quickly “I’m not so good at queuing… you can probably tell I’m rather shy” he added the last part quietly as if embarrassed at the fact. That was all he was getting out now, his voice frozen in a partial terror at the thought of adding to that sentence… for now all he could manage to do was to smile and attempt to finish the sandwich in his hands.

“Not very appetising actually” the mechanic added with a hint of dissapointment after gulping down some more and fighting back the urge to accidentally have to run off and find a quiet corner, though he did kind of want to stay and get to know her a bit better. The urge to stay and continue the conversation proved greater at this moment and his nerve was holding well, who knows he might actually be able to pull of something that could pass for a decent conversation today, sandwich aside he considered that he was doing rather well at this

But it would not be easy, just glancing into her chocolate brown eyes caused him to blush a little as he normally did for most of a conversation, but for some reason he managed to gain some control and return to his normal colour. It was hard for Dan, most of his life the mechanic had been isolated from contact with the outside world, and friends were not easy to come by when he was in school. For many years he could count all his friends on one hand, and since arriving at the school here he could count them on one finger… and that was not what one could really call a friendship, more someone he had met. *Maybe, just maybe* he thought *I might be able to befriend someone without outside help* he could remain hopeful, but right now the best thing to do would be to make some form of conversation

“I made them myself” he added whilst glancing at her rather full looking tray in comparison to his “though after a few hours in the garage they have gotten a bit on the soggy side” Dan raised a sandwich as if demonstrating his point, it was rather squashed and bendy, not what you’d usually expect. “but as I said, queuing is not my cup of tea, I prefer to be able to come in and claim my table before someone else takes it… I mean, you kinda proved my point” he joked with a grin “if I had waited there’s a chance I might be STANDING with my dinner”

Re: lunchtime
Pushing for conversation was either a hit or miss at times and Angie could only hope for the best, generally however it felt as if she always feared the worse, which was an easy tell for her shy and often isolated ways. Not that Angie didn’t have a habit of sticking to her self, sometimes she was her own worst enemy, wanting something yet sticking with what she was familiar with, what she found safe. The motional state of this fellow was hardly smooth flowing, but he seemed nice enough, perhaps too nervous for his own good and Angie wasn’t sure to sympathise with him from her own situations or to pity him for being slightly worse off in that department. Part of the female mutant longed to try and assure him SHE doesn’t bite either, but then again, if someone told her that it’d hardly settle her nerves, especially if it were a guy who was chatting to her… Angie generally had a negative view towards blokes that randomly go out of their way to talk to her… unless of course they were nice!

“I’m not so good at queuing… you can probably tell I’m rather shy” Yes, queuing was horrible, especially in those places were it wasn’t really a line you were queuing in, just a group which had to be randomly picked out and only luck would keep the people serving them sharp enough to notice who came when and has waited the longest. Usually a few later comers tend to get in before Angie and while it annoyed her she never complained. What was she going to do anyway? Whine that she’d been waiting? Everyone waits… it’s not like her like depended on being next.

The poor guy, the empathy smiled almost sweetly as she watched him, feeling guilty that she couldn’t ease his worries and yet not entirely sure how to go about it. Slight surprise inched its way into her deep darkened honey brown eyes as she watched Dan finish up his meal, she’d never be able to eat like that, she’d be too petrified.. at least she usually was… sometimes around people she was comfortable with she did let lose and relax a little more.

“Not very appetising actually” By his expression it didn’t seem the most lovely of meals, no. However the soft curve of her lips remained as Angie watched him, her eyes drifting from his hands to his face and slipping off to the commotion about them occasionally.

“I made them myself” It did seem he had, otherwise Angie may have suggested he took them back, because they were hardly of the crisp quality one would expect from a freshly made stash. Having made sandwiches for herself on the odd occasions, she was however more then away how easy it was for them to lose their vitality very quickly. “though after a few hours in the garage they have gotten a bit on the soggy side” Well now she felt bad, not only was she genuinely uncomfortable with eating in front of people (she ate, but she looked very prime and proper) but now her companion was forced to stare at her more then plentiful dish. It seemed a lot of food to her anyway, considering instant noodles had been about the only thing she ate while living on her own, with the occasional meats and salads when she felt like splurging. “but as I said, queuing is not my cup of tea, I prefer to be able to come in and claim my table before someone else takes it… I mean, you kinda proved my point” She did? Angie blinked a little but then near on smacked her self mentally as she realized of course he was talking about her queuing and therefore having no table to herself. “if I had waited there’s a chance I might be STANDING with my dinner” A soft chuckle came from her after he spoke, a more vibrant grin forming though as she added to her own defence.

"Ah, yes, true," But she was hardly going to miss out on a meal for a seat, she’d rather the floor! "Perhaps you should save the table, and I get the foods, that way we both get food and a table.." The offer was genuine, her light smile there still despite the realization of her blunt off for the cooperation and teamwork regarding meal time. Her fork seemed to prod the food though her eyes remained on him for a moment, dropping down only as she was tempted to scoop up a mouth full and yet discouraged at the same time.

Re: lunchtime
"Ah, yes, true," well it appeared that he had broken the ice a little, her grin and chuckling helping him feel a little more at ease with talking "Perhaps you should save the table, and I get the foods, that way we both get food and a table.." the mechanic mulled it over for a minute, his eyes drifting towards he prodding the food on her plate with a fork, it was as if she were afraid to eat it now… perhaps it was because of his disappointing lunch and hers looking so much nicer.

“sounds like a plan” he smiled looking directly at her until his eye’s met hers and he was forced to look away at something else out of embarrassment “well, for tomorrow anyway… I’ve kinda put myself off food” he laughed, dropping the last sandwich back onto the foil it had been wrapped in and no mater how he imagined it was delicious it looked rather limp and boring still. Looking over it now with his dark brown eyes Dan did feel that no matter how bad it was throwing the thing away would still be a waste.

Glancing under the table at the dragonlike creature at Angie’s feet he shot a sideways glance at her “has he been fed recently?” he asked, realising afterwards that the question could be taken the wrong way “I mean, I’m not scared he’s gonna eat me, just wanted to know if he fancied a limp sandwich” he corrected his former question quickly, picking up the sandwich and holding it as if he were ready to pass the thing under the table, trying not to smile too much whilst laughing inside at how useless he was at completing the relatively simple task of formulating a coherent sentence.

Though he had to admit that this were not going too badly in this conversation.. if you could yet call it that, I mean she had not hit him yet, nor had she begun laughing uncontrollably at him. But then again part of him knew that she did not dislike him from the start… only that part was being drowned out by his nervousness, forcing himself to think sensibly rather than ‘she’s going to hate you, just leave now’ the mechanic realised that she was probably shy herself, there were signs that he had picked up on. For a start she had seemed a little nervous of asking to sit at his table, then there were the silences that most normal people filled with some babble or other.

Chances are that Angie was normally a rather talkative person, much like Dan could be with people he knew well… not that there were many of them around here, he had barely gotten time to know anyone and those he did talk to were mainly teachers. Sitting there at that moment the mechanic realised one scary fact… that although he had only known this girl for a few minutes he actually rather liked her already, inwardly sighing at the thought Dan decided that if nothing else he would have to come away from this table having made a new friend, even if it were only the dragon at her feet.

Re: lunchtime
“sounds like a plan” An almost shy smile was returned at his acceptance of her half hearted offer, though part of her was serious, another part figured he’d just knock it back, and so Angie wasn’t entirely sure how to take the acceptance… it was a positive for now, that’s all she’d settle on for the moment. While her eyes were torn between staring at his hand as it held his food, and staring at his face, she did notice that he seemed just as awkward as she, yet polite despite it, which was very positive as far as the female mutant was concerned. If he was withheld and short with her, she might have up and left out of discomfort, or, more likely, eaten quietly at least half the plate if not all and moved on soundlessly to continue the rest of her day in the school.

“well, for tomorrow anyway… I’ve kinda put myself off food” The tip of the fork rested down into one of the potatoes, a light laugh coming from her at his comment, though her glossed lips pressed together after, always nervous when she laughed as some people could often tease people for their various laughs… And while Angie never got teased, she also never really laughed a lot with people, so she preferred to avoid the situation if possible, lest there be yet another thing about her people decide to poke fun at.

“has he been fed recently?” The question explained the intentions quickly enough an she gave a half shake of her head before being stunned by his next comment, another amused smile spreading across her lips at his suggestion. Being empathic washed away any thoughts of him possibly being nervous or scared towards Fear, yet he seemed to think she thought it possible as he continued. “I mean, I’m not scared he’s gonna eat me, just wanted to know if he fancied a limp sandwich” While he made to offer the sandwich to the dragon, Fear in turn just stared at him rather blankly, then up at Angie before sitting up and inching closer to the hand, not out of hunger, but mild curiosity.

"That’s really sweet and thoughtful," Angie started, her smile sincere and honest as her voice picked up a little from its softer shier tones. "But actually, Fear doesn’t eat. He’s teeth are all for show, aren’t they boy?" The dragon turned around and looked up at her as best he could from the ground half beneath the table. "Well… that and sinking them into bullies…" There was a mischievous grin that formed though her hand rested lightly on Fear’s head as the dragon began to pull itself up on the seat beside her.

It was plainly obvious that she was more then just a little fond of the critter, who in turn seemed affectionate and protective of her as his red eyes peered once again over towards Dan with a curious sniff while placing his two front legs on the edge of the table.

Re: lunchtime
Dan’s dark brown eyes drifted over the creature as it curiously inched towards the offered sandwich, half expecting the dragon to snatch for it any second as the dogs did back home. "That’s really sweet and thoughtful," the mechanic looked up at her, catching her gaze for a second or two before peering away out of shyness. "But actually, Fear doesn’t eat. He’s teeth are all for show, aren’t they boy?"

“Ahh, ok” his hand withdrew from offering food, being as the creature was not going to eat it the sandwich was dropped on the wrapping it had come from. It might get eaten later if he were too lazy to make something for dinner "Well… that and sinking them into bullies…" Dan looked up, one eyebrow raised, she was bullied… now that was not right, her grin did tend to lean towards it only being a joke though.

“Well I guess he’s an effective deterrent, i'd think twice before getting in his way, I coulda really used him a few years ago” he paused to poke the sandwich, his inability to keep a conversation going for more than a few sentences was creeping up on him, internally the mechanic was beating the monster down with a wrench just to keep himself sitting at the table. He gave a glance around the room, brushing his right hand through his short brown hair and leaning backward before letting out a yawn by mistake “oh, I’m so sorry… didn’t get much sleep last night what with this being a strange place and all”

“I mean a new place not strange” he paused again after correcting himself, thinking how rude he must seem for yawning, she probably thought he was bored now. Again the beast that plagued his everyday life began to creep up on him once more “you’re not being bullied around here are you?” He asked sounding concerned, his eyes drifting between her and the creature sitting on the seat next to her, the affection between the two was obvious as the difference between night and day. It reminded him of his sister Ann and her Dog somewhat, he thought gave him some courage to continue, “Though you probably have enough admirers to take care of them before this little guy has to get involved” he laughed.

It was only partially a joke, and partially his inquisitiveness attempting to find out some more about her… if she had a boyfriend for example, the important things. But even as the words came out of his mouth his courage disappeared, al he could do was offer a little smile and gaze at the dragon on the seat wishing that he could disappear into thin air, or at least take back what he had just said.

Re: lunchtime
While trying not abuse her power, Angie couldn’t help by repeatedly get an inkling of Dan’s fears, which were rather absurd because he was scared she’d up and leave by the ‘scene’ that played in her mind to show her what his fear was. Though, she remained because she wanted to, not being Angie felt obligated and it wasn’t easy to tell someone that without putting them on the spot. You never know how people take to finding out they aren’t so secretive as they try to be. Now however Dan’s thoughts seemed to swirl slightly and left the realm of fear that Angie was most prone to intercepting and thus her powers got hazier and cloudy in regards to his emotions and what was going on in his mind.

“Well I guess he’s an effective deterrent, i'd think twice before getting in his way, I coulda really used him a few years ago” there was a warm smile that really flourished at Dan’s comments, it was always nice to hear someone who appreciated Fear’s presence as much as she did, even if they didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him as well as she had done. Though the glossed lips lost their smile once more as Angie felt the inward struggle still strong despite the relatively pleasant conversation going on.

“oh, I’m so sorry… didn’t get much sleep last night what with this being a strange place and all” He apologized for a previous yawn and Angie let her smile return to show it didn’t bother her, having just moved in a few very short months before the empathy figured he was a new student too by his comment. “I mean a new place not strange” As innocent a correction as it was, angie had to reframe from chuckling, the girl had a desire to uncorrect his comment and suggest the first remark was just was correct! This was after all a very strange place, and yet Angie loved it to pieces right now, even with all the mystery and danger it provided… or perhaps that’s something that boosted her love for the school.

“you’re not being bullied around here are you?” Compared to when she was younger, not at all, though Madison and Frost had made things less then easy, they weren’t picking on Angie alone though and so she couldn’t whine about them having any sort of bullying tendencies towards her. “Though you probably have enough admirers to take care of them before this little guy has to get involved” The young girl blinked though was negatively amused in the fact, not negative towards him, just the fact that someone thought *she* had admirers. One guy who was all buddy buddy with her and then suddenly seemed to vanish and on top of that began treating her like ‘another face’ that passed him in the halls. Not exactly a great motivational thing to go through, though Taylor had been the first real mutant Angie ever knowingly met and it hurt more the distancing he had between them then it may have been like if he wasn’t such a ‘land mark’ in her life. Inviting her back to the school and being all supportive and full of charming smiles, then bang, weeks pass and he barely shows his face.

Yeah, people just flock to me, Angie sighed mentally, though shrugged aside her thoughts, she may not be the ugly step sister one often reads about in fairytales but she wasn’t a Cinderella either. From being too shy to being too hyper, too courteous or too weird, there was always something that kept the girl out of ‘groups’ that people usually formed. She was never entirely in with the girly groups and yet didn’t fit in with the boy groups, and it seemed a happy medium had eluded her all these years. Though Matt was proving to be an interesting companion, even if most of their time was spent only together during team assignments of whatever nature.

"I’m relatively new here, but I know enough to suggest you avoid anyone called Frost, or Frostbite is her whole name, and Madison Enright… they aren’t bullies, but they aren’t the sweetest of people either." There was a knowingness to her voice that suggested she found this out from experience and it wasn’t just some gossip she was spreading. "Anyway, I’ve developed my own technique of warding off bullies, Fear and I don’t need random knights in shinning armour. We’d probably be twitching on the floor by the time they arrived anyway, heroes often have bad timing." Angie waited her entire youth ‘to be saved’ and it never happened, she was in her twenties now and even if it was just fresh in the age group the illusionary mutant was far from letting herself hope for those ‘happily ever afters’ that everyone longs for. It didn’t matter that she was young, all she knew was that things never tended to go the way she hoped and so she’d have to go with the flow and just wish for the best.

"Well, Fear’s the only hero I need to ward off enemies, he always saves me." From her mother, from her bullies, from her loneliness! He really was her hero, and she loved him for it, and to hell with anyone who dares suggest Fear wasn’t real, she loved him and they had to accept that or suffer the scolding they got for their close mindedness and arrogance. "If you ever need help he’s the best to have at your side." The girl paid little attention to the dragon as he sniffed at her food and nudged at her bottle of drink, instead her eyes tried to focus on Dan, with only the occasional drop to glance at Fear or stroke him as he busied himself.

Re: lunchtime
She was smiling a lot, that had to be a good sign that she was not totally appalled at the thought of talking to him and Dan was becoming more at ease with conversing. "I’m relatively new here, but I know enough to suggest you avoid anyone called Frost, or Frostbite is her whole name, and Madison Enright… they aren’t bullies, but they aren’t the sweetest of people either." Frost… the mechanic felt sure he had heard that name before mentioned around the school, well if they were into bullying then the chances are he would have to get in their way at some point as his sister was a trouble magnet.

“Noted” he nodded in recognition, his eyes drifting once more at hers before shying away, every now and again flitting back as if drawn to her like iron filings to a magnet. . "Anyway, I’ve developed my own technique of warding off bullies, Fear and I don’t need random knights in shinning armour. We’d probably be twitching on the floor by the time they arrived anyway, heroes often have bad timing." A small noise came out of him in semi agreement to the last sentence, most people did turn up far to late to do any helping when a situation arose in his life as well, though Dan had Fate to help him.

Sure the landrover was not a dragon that followed him around but the bond was virtually the same, that car was a part of him… a part of his life and the only friend that had remained constant over the years. It never really let him down, Dan looked after the vehicle and it looked after him, if someone wanted to pick a fight Fate took him away from the situation. "Well, Fear’s the only hero I need to ward off enemies, he always saves me." Again the mechanic nodded in agreement, eyeing up the creature as it explored the table, it did not look that frightening… but he felt sure that if it wanted to the dragon could turn very nasty very quickly.

"If you ever need help he’s the best to have at your side." He smiled, his brown eyes now on her again “well I’ll make sure to give you a call then, you can bring him along next time I get into a fix” he chuckled, most of his apprehension as to talking had disappeared now thankfully and although the mechanic was still shy it was easier to push those feelings aside and go for it conversation wise.

“Though its not me that normally needs help, I do tend to do the helping as Ann my sisters constantly getting into some form of trouble” it seemed rather amusing that someone who was shy as a mouse for most of the time could turn brave enough to stand up to four older boys in the middle of a packed out club, but then again it was in order to protect someone he loved, and that changed everything. “So the chances are I’ll be meeting those two you mentioned… and if that happens don’t worry I only get that scary when someone’s hurting my friends” his tone light and humorous, truth is that in this school he would be easy pickings for most of the students with his lack of any powers.

Though as powers went Dan did actually poses some, just nothing that was really obvious… even to him. He did however know that for some reason he could memorise an entire days worth of lessons without any effort at all and call upon these memories at will. But that was not a power surely… was that not just a good memory? Surely there was a limit to what you could consider as a mutation. There were many questions that bugged Him about mutation but hey were slowly being answered, not only by some of the teachers but also by his own experience around the school, limited though it was.

Right now his mind was running over many different possibilities at once, most of them relating to his conversation with Angie and possible reactions to every word he said… but could that be considered a mutation? To have many things going on In your head was surely a normal occurrence wasn’t it? Things like this were so hard to answer for he had always been like this for as long as he could remember, so what did he have to compare against.

Looking across at the young lady opposite Dan felt the urge to ask about her powers creping up on him as it normally did around the school, naturally inquisitive he had to fight these urges as it could be considered rude to just blurt out such questions in the middle of a conversation. So for now he let it rest, satisfying himself in that the way this was going he would have the opportunity to ask again another time. That is of course unless the attractive mutant sitting opposite did not come to her senses and realise that Dan was not worth talking to and disappear and refuse to speak to him again for his presumption that he was allowed to converse with her.

But then again if that did happen it was her choice and although he would be upset for a good long while he would respect her decision for leaving. Looking down towards the creature sitting next to her Dan could see that Fear was still exploring the table and everything on it and with most of his nervousness slowly ebbing away to a background level Dan plucked up the courage to extend his arm and slowly lean forward to touch the creature, hand flat out to show that he was not concealing anything… just as He did with new animals to the farm. Confidence was normally everything, if you showed even the slightest bit of apprehension the animal could normally sense it and that made them jumpy.

Re: lunchtime
The pause in her comments rewarded Angela with a smile from Dan, this one not so strained as some of the earlier attempts, his smiling holding with a more fluid arrival as the corner of his lips had curved gently and remained for a moment before he spoke. “well I’ll make sure to give you a call then, you can bring him along next time I get into a fix” A shy smile warmed Angela’s features, she had a mobile, but not having any friends really limited her use of the device. The main reason for it is to call her mother occasionally and keep in touch with her brothers and younger little sister, who’s last few birthday’s had been missed due to Angie not being in Australia with her now 14 year old unofficially ‘adopted’ sibling. The comment Dan made about calling her left Angie wondering if he actually wanted a number to call or not, Angie often joked in similar fashions about calling people but never gave out her number, not that many people actually got as far as asking for her number. Well, there was Lauren, or Loza as she mentioned being her nickname, being another Australian and Melbourne chick as well, made the two click really fast. Both were relatively new and classes with Loz were full of chuckles and rushed remarks, sadly enough Angie was already losing her new friend who was being relocated back in Australia, which sparked the two sharing various forms of contact in order to keep in touch. While one friend was leaving, another friend seemed so far in his own world that Taylor had barely said a words to her since the Training Island, so perhaps this was another chance of grabbing up a new friend, even if so far her ability to keep them hasn’t been so great.

“Though its not me that normally needs help, I do tend to do the helping as Ann my sisters constantly getting into some form of trouble” Big brother syndrome! Angie kept her smile at the thought of that, even as she wondered if her brothers would ever stand up for her… deep down the illusionary mutant was fully aware they would, but bitter disappointments they’ve had in her past have made it hard to believe in them sometimes. “So the chances are I’ll be meeting those two you mentioned… and if that happens don’t worry I only get that scary when someone’s hurting my friends” Everyone meets Frost and Madi as far as Angie was concerned, those two would be up and in your face when you least expect it, and it may be hard for Angie to dislike them knowing some of the fears the two girls have, but that didn’t mean the 21 year old was going to tolerate the manner in which they treat others. A slight grin formed at the lightening of Dan’s tone even if Angie’s thoughts weren’t as pleasing.

Being around Dan was strangely taxing when Angie’s powers were concerned, usually people had a string of thoughts jumping around occasionally from one to another, but from what Angie could tell the empathic mutant was sensing different reacts to things all at once and so quickly in constant flow, anxiety, to insecurity, to acceptance, to curiosity, to uncertainty… the list went on and on, it was like Angie was getting bombarded with too many signals at once instead of a steady flow, which in some ways could be good, since it would cause her to start to instinctively try and shield her mind from others, whereas right now she wasn’t doing that unless emotions were particularly high and out of control around her. Dark chocolate eyes, rich with a honey texture, watched as Dan’s hand extended, the young female student looking with a calm interest at the Dragon and newly found friend to see how the two interacted.

Fear had been caught sniffing the plate of food Angie had long since left discarded now, his crimson eyes lifting towards the outstretched limb that was offered in a gesture of curiosity and friendliness. A flick of the dragon’s tail caused the arrow headed head to curl low over the tables top as Fear studied the fingers being offered. A step forward drew the purple dragon closer towards the hand, his snout near enough to sniff the fingers, a pointed tongue flicked out, the soft pink texture brushing against the fingers, though the dragon’s tongue lacked any moisture as a living creature would have been prone to having. Even warmth was lacking, and no breath would have been felt against the memory enhanced mutant’s sensitive flesh. Angie’s fingers brushed along the tail of her scaled friend as she chuckled.

"Such a suck up, geeze." As long as Angie herself didn’t have any inhibitions towards someone, or didn’t doubt someone’s intentions, Fear was prone to behaving rather well with strangers, despite his over protective nature. If Angie wasn’t sure, then Fear would keep his guard up, a physical barrier that most people mentally rose in order to guard themselves from strangers and the uncertainties that came with them. Dan seemed open and honest enough that Angie hadn’t really raised any defensive barriers that would cause Fear to react negatively, as people grow to know the illusionary, they’d realize how easy she is to be read, even if all one did was watch Fear’s reactions, or the reactions of any of Angie’s future ‘creatures’. "Do you have classes after lunch?" Ok, so Angie wasn’t the best at conversations, not unless there was something specific on her mind, unless she were closer with someone, then random babble would easily help fill up the silence.

Re: lunchtime
It was strange to touch the inquisitive little creature; its tongue not feeling like anything he had felt before and the lack of breath was a little strange too. It led Dan to only one conclusion… this creature was not actually living, well not in the conventional sense anyway, for the creature on the table was as real as real could be. "Such a suck up, geeze."

Dan laughed slightly nervously, not knowing if she was talking to the creature or to him. Theories ran through his mind quickly as he glanced over her about the link between this creature and herself, she seemed to have great affection for the dragon and it for her so perhaps its very existence relied upon her and her powers giving it life and being.

All these useful and exciting powers did make the mechanic quite envious sometimes though it was also quite a relief at other times, there were some students whose mutations had overcome their entire being and changed their bodies in such a way that they became outcast from society. At least Dan’s was all in his mind, and the chances are hers was too as he examined her quickly and discretely for any signs of obvious mutation… he found none and his curiosity rose once more about what exactly her mutation really was.

"Do you have classes after lunch?" The question caught him off balance… he actually had no idea about his classes today as he hadn’t looked at his timetable at all since getting it. Though the chances of him having lesson were remote as the mechanic didn’t take that many classes “not as far as I know” he answered with a smile “why… you want to do something?”

it was rather a brave question and rather shocking to Dan that he had managed to bring it out, half wondering if it were actually his voice or that of someone else behind him. But it was him and the question now hung in the air between them as if taunting him for his stupidity, the mechanic hung his head a bit and stared at the plate in front of him, fighting back the shyness that had overcome his very being.

Surely that was it… the conversation was over and she would leave, disgusted with the very notion that she would want to spend any more time with him than necessary.

Re: lunchtime
“not as far as I know” Dan gave Angie a smile and he looked more relaxed then earlier, which was good... and comforting, it was never easy to relax when someone else was so tense.. especially for an empath. “why… you want to do something?” being someone who often lacked opinions when it came to choosing passtimes, Angie went rather quiet as she half worried over the answer. Though when she looked at the young man across from her, the empathic mutant clearly noticed and felt the wave of shyness that washed over him.

"Yeah well," The brown eyed girl began, her arms drawing towards her and folding in front of her on the table. "Have you seen the Rec Room here?" Asked the young mutant as sge smiled before adding with a chuckle, "It's massive, a full tour could take weeks, and that's only slight exaggeration." Fear turned around and padded across the table, sitting closer to Angie and his tail curling about the dragons body as he waited patiently.

"Besides," The new X-girl in trainin added with a more serious tone, "I hurt my shoulder not too long ago, and spent a while just laying around, I'll admit it's nice to have someone to talk with." The red eyes of the purple dragon seemed to turn to Angie and he pulled out his scaled chest. "I mean other then you, hon." Came the affectionate reply with a chuckle and a tender stroke of her fingers on his head.

"I was just asking, no worries if you're busy, it'd probably be easier walking about and talking then sitting around here though." She added with a soft smile and a slight shyness of her own, at least she felt it would be easier to deal with.. it could get really awkward sitting around waiting for the other to say something. At least if they were moving they could pretend to be interested in something else they were passing if there seemed nothing to talk about.
