Some of you may recall my Daughter Barbara who traveled with me to Boston for the Walk and Uveitis Conference abut 7 years ago. She went into labor at 4 am this morning so I'll be a proud granpa again with a litte grandaughter soon.

Re: New Baby
She had the Baby at 1:27PM PST. it is doing fine as well as the mom. I don't know details or a name yet. she should be able to get into a room at the hospital soon so I can go down and get particulars. no cell phones can be used inside the hospital so until my wife can get outside and call I won't be able to come down to get more info.

update: the baby weighed 5 lbs 15 oz. she is three weeks early and was induced because of only having two arteries to the placenta. she is normal and came out of the jacuzzi tub screaming. Barb is doing well but exhausted. her water broke a little before midnight on 8 April contractions started about 2AM and she had normal discomfort( chewing off hand of husband trying to comfort her is normal isn't it ?) not really but she sure was grouchy tonight.

Wishing all the very best,
Mike

Re: New Baby
Congratulations Mike! Tell your daughter that we are all thinking about her. I can't wait to hear if she had a boy or girl, and of course the little ones name.

Get some rest!

Re: New Baby
Thanks Renee'
it is a little girl, name Jillian Ruth 5 lbs 14 oz, 18 inches long with very good lungs who doesn't like wet diapers and lets you know immediately.

Barb gets to go home this morning (hopefully) and I know their dogs will love the baby. Jan took a receiving blanket with the babies smell on it over to the house last night when she let the dogs out and fed them and they were very interested in the scent of the baby.

Wish you and family a wonderful Easter weekend,
Mike

Re: New Baby
The baby developed jaundice and we had to get her a light bed to treat her. it arrived on Easter Sunday at our hope right at dinner time so we had to delay our dinner.
Barb and Jillian are doing well now. Her mother in law arrived on Monday to stay with them helping out and giving motherly love. Grandmas are great with the little ones.

Wishing all the very best,
mike

I remember all of your grandsons, but is this your first grand daughter? Jillian is one lucky little girl ;)

Re: New Baby
no she is my second grandaughter, my son has a small boy Jacob who is 3 1/2 and a 10 month old little girl, Alissa.
Jan and I get Jacob and Alissa on Saturdays from about 8 AM to about 7 PM. will have them on Monday as well so mom can go for a doctor's appointment.
I love every bit of being a grandpa! It is so much fun doing things I could rarely do when my kids grew up because of working all the time with very long days and weekends too.
It is supposed to be nice Saturday with highs about 70 or so, so we may take them to the Zoo so Jacob can ride on the restored carosel (sp). he loves watching the Walruses swim up to him from the below water viewing windows and the Aquarium too.

wish you the best Renee',
Mike

Re: New Baby
Thanks Gae!
I will extend your best wishes to Barb probably this evening for you.

We are going to pack a lunch and take Jacob and Alissa to the Point Defiance Park And Zoo today. I just hope I can stay awake. jacob wears me out by noon and I often take a nap while they eat lunch.

Yes, life is good,
Mike
