natural remedies for nausea?
My 14-year-old daughter has been on MTX (pills) for 12 weeks and the nausea is really getting her down. Does anyone have any natural remedies for combatting it? We're trying ginger tea and chewing on crystalized ginger. Any other thoughts?
Re: natural remedies for nausea?
We didn't have luck with ginger. Peppermint oil aroma therapy (simply smelling the oil) can help take the edge off. What has gotten rid of the nausea completely (other than very minor occasional stomach aches) is weekly acupuncture. It took a couple weeks before it completely disappeared but it stopped the vomiting immediately. My daughter has her acupuncture before her migraines and nausea typically would start. I also recommend trying MTX injection. From observation, I personally feel that the MTX injection resulted in less stomach upset for my daughter. Of course, she disagrees and refuses to do the injection anymore. It is a must to find a good acupuncturist; not all acupuncturists are created equal!

I was just listening to a CD on an integrative medical conference. Perhaps I didn't give ginger a fair try. According to what I heard, we didn't give a proper dosage to be effective. I would ask your holistic practitioner about it. You can send a private note to my inbox and we can discuss further.

Crystalized ginger seems to be really working for her. I like the fact she can carry around a piece of it and chew on it when she needs to.
