not episode: Fast Forward
The new future fic Fast Forward has been posted. It's under the reruns section of the site. Remember, it's a could be...not an indication of where we're going with the episodes. It's not like Christmas-themed or anything. It actually probably takes place in the early fall, but...who cares? This is like our present to you guys so we really really hope you dig it. A brilliant fic
This fic is so brilliant, i loved it.
My first thought after reading it was you have to write more. In the end ,I don't remember if it was Jake or Ham who asked the other one if they will come back and then one if them said it is just the start or something like that, i so loved it, and i want them to come back to the hospital...
I love J&H fics, and when you went back in time to the camp, i loved that fic, and this fic...
It had so many emotions, my hope of them getting back together was fading away more and more when i read this fic, and it suprised me a little when they did get back together, but i got so happy.
I really liked Jill in this fic, haven't really done that before.
If you ever write more J&H fics, which i hope you do, then i know they will be brilliant too.
I so loved this fic, keep up with the great job.
You really affect people with your writing. Thank you for that.

Excellent job Estee & Harmony! As you already know, I love this story to bits but even more so after reading it again. Your descriptions are so well done and the visuals...oh the visuals...I can see it going on in my head! It was all very beautiful and real...the believability of the entire story made it that much better. This fic is just another amazing display of your talents. It is definitely one of the best things I've read lately. Thank you for sharing them with us. Oh and Estee, I think you win

What can I say? You never cease to amaze me, guys. I totally loved the story, it's so believable...and moving...and slightly Nora Ephron-ish, but in a good way
And any concerns about future fics limiting your creative options for the episodes are forgotten. Took me some time, but I think I finally got your idea of "could-be doesn't mean has-to-be" It's also really interesting to see this whole evolution in your writing, how it's getting more and more visual...I was totally "seeing" the story, instead of reading it, if you know what I mean. What else? Oh, the Cinderbella references..I loved that too.

Guys.. you know how I feel about this fic. It is amazing. I think that Mae and W have basically expressed (in a much more eloquent way than I ever could) how truly amazing this fic is.
The feelings.. emotions.. and the way you manage to capture the characters is truly outstanding.

Sorry guys, I know this is so well written, and I agree with someone that said the visuals are brilliant, although I think that about all the episodes, I always feel I'm watching them and sometimes get mixed up and think some scenes you wrote were actually in the 8 eps.....anyway, I'm so sorry to say that I didn't enjoy this one. ...I couldn't from the moment near the beginning when Ham mentioned that Judy person...I hate knowing that he was with her for a year and had said he loved her, how could he come back to Jake as 'just a friend' knowing that doesn't exist for them and then parade that Judy in front of her?...oh, and the entire cheating thing...God, that hurt.
I know something's wrong with me, I hated My Best Friend's Wedding because Julia Roberts didn't get the guy and I know how dumb and lame that is...anyway, that's why I found this fic so depressing. Which probably proves once again how good you guys are.
Oh, and I do love you writing Jake and Ham fics, I LOVED rewind, it's one of my favs ever, so keep them coming.
And please, pretty please, explain to me why Ham slept with that random girl? Because he never said it flat out, although I was getting the impression that it was because he wanted to find out what he would do if he lost Jake....but it was so awful of him! it was going out and trying to hurt her in the worst way. And all that about being a coward...but not afraid of commitment, then afraid of what?

First...Judy=Julie. Judy is Jill's mom's name. Julie is Hamilton's girlfriend in Fast Forward. Yes, we are into J names.
Okay, Ham sleeping with the random girl. I want to point out that just because Hamilton says or explains something doesn't mean he knows what the heck he's talking about. I don't want to sit here and make excuses for him because, honestly, I don't think there is a "good" explanation for what he did. Also, I have a lot of analysis, but I don't want to do TOO much of it because I want everyone to have the chance to take their own meaning from it. According to Hamilton, he wanted to know "what it would be like to be without" Jake and he found out and it was what he was afraid of: he couldn't live without her. We worked really hard to show his regret so as to justify Jake's final decision regarding Hamilton. Once a cheater always a cheater. It's a hard cliche to overcome and it was very difficult for us to come close to doing so...and for Hamilton too. What he did really was inexcusable...I readily admit that. My last thing to say is that even though there wasn't really a distinct theme to this thing, the whole fresh start/clean slate idea came out in the end. You can't really get a clean slate and the park scene just pointed out that stuff happens in life and you can take what you want from your experiences...focus on the good...and get rid of the "unwanted." Jake and Hamilton and their love is far more powerful than any screw ups that either of them happen to make. That still sounds like an excuse and a little weak, but...like I said, I don't want to analyze too much (and maybe I already have ).
Anyway, that probably just made Ham's actions more confusing. Oh, even though I said I was done...
Julie and that relationship. Hamilton's initial excuse for cheating on Jake was that he was a coward. He thought he was a coward for sabatoging a perfect relationship, but I propose that he was a coward for not trusting his love for Jake. Later, with Julie he was ready to do what it took to stick it out. At the party when they had that fight he almost realized that being together for the sake of being together was worthless. Still, though, not quite and he repaired that relationship and stayed with her. Then, he couldn't say "I love you" to her and he realized that telling someone you don't love "I love you" is as cowardly as treating someon you do love as if you don't. Does that make no sense? I dunno.
Anyway, now I seriously am done. Way too much analysis on my part and...who's to say I'm right. What do YOU guys think?

i just wanted to say that the 'fast forward' special that you wrote was really really awesome except that for the whole time i was thinking 'where's bella? did jill and the rest of them totally disown her for kissing scout back when in the day? and sean. did they elope? and gwen?! and dexter?! did gwen and dexter hook up and start having super-smart-computer-hacking kids? whoa.' anyway, enough of me talking, i'm just wasting oxygen other than that, i liked the YGM thing.

I can't wait!
I haven't read everyone's replys yet, because I haven't finished reading this fic, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I absolutely love it so far! It's brilliant!
I printed it out last night and told myself that I would only read the introduction before I went to bed (yeah, right), so sometime after midnight, I finally put it down and made myself go to sleep so that I would be able to function at work this morning.
I can't wait to go home and finish reading it over lunch, though. I only have about 10 pages left, "squeeee" then I can come back and post some more about how brilliant it was.

I AGREE! This was so well written ~ I could visualize everything perfectly (whether I really wanted to or not). I almost started crying at the end, I was so happy that they were finally being honest to themselves and trying to work things out.
E & H, this is definately a masterpiece ~ it's going down as one of my all time favs.
I really like how you pointed out that this is just one possibility of the future ~ because the future hasn't been written yet.
I also loved the references to Beginnings, and how "we have a lot of those" That made me smile. I like having a lot of those... YA should always have beginnings - never endings.

Just dropping by to comment on the whole "where's Bella?" thing. Basically, this was a Jahammer fic. Scout and Jill were just along for the ride as cheerleaders and coaches. So, why was Will there? Well, what if eventually we decided to do a few more future fics that dealt with the other sides of this story (i.e., what happens in the ten years following the original eight episodes?). So, at some point, there could be a fic about Jill and Scout and how they ended up being married and when they first found out about the baby and all that good stuff. Then, there could be another fic about Will and how he got to be a writer...maybe that's the story where Sean and Gwen and Bella are. And...didn't Jake briefly mention Ryder? Maybe Ryder has a whole story of his own. We hinted at characters like Ryder and Will so that if we were to ever undertake writing these other stories...we'd have a little crossover. That's why Will didn't give away too much about anyone else...becuase then you'd know the ending I don't know when or if any of this will be written...we all know Jake and Ham are the only ones everyone really cares about...right?

I have to say this is one of the best well written stories... your writing gives us so much and the descriptions lets us play it out in our head... such a wonderful story and yes I love how you linked Scout/Jill in the story with out them, it would not have been right... and I look forward to more future fics... they are my favortie...

Estee you give out the best Christmas presents ever!!! I loved it...every part of it...the sad parts and the happy parts. As if you probably don't already know that I love it...but just in case you don't...I love it.
I agree that what Hamilton did was unexcusable...and maybe even unforgivable...but in a way I sort of understand why he did it...and if you think about it...it could have been worse: he could have realized that he CAN survive without Jake. But thankfully, he can't.
About the Julie thing...in a way I sort of admire Ham for trying to make it work...I guess it's just easier not to be upset from not having what you want by taking something else. Did that make sense? What I'm trying to say is that it's easier to pretend you're not in love with someone if you're with someone else...and although things go sourly in the end and people wind up getting hurt...some people can do such a good job of pretending that even they start to convince themselves that they're not in love with someone else. Let's thank God that Hamilton is not that good at pretending So, even though I was a little upset over the Julie being with Ham thing...I didn't exactly hate it...I thought it was very useful in the story.
About the Eric thing on the other hand...I don't understand why Jake decided to sleep with him when he showed up at her door...I sort of think that she was just wired and riled up from what she and Hamilton almost did...and another part of me thinks that it was because, like Hamilton, she was trying to pretend not to be in love with Ham by pretending that she wanted Eric. Am I right? Or horrendously wrong?
And I loved how Jake and Ham got back together...so sweet yet not too sweet, and so simple yet complicated at the same time. It was perfect.
About that engagement ring...how small WAS the diamond? I mean, I've tried to picture it in my head...but for some reason I can't and this is sorta bugging me...I wanna know how small it is!!!

I REALLY loved this fic! The chemistry between all the charcters was perfect, and I loved the sweet way it ended up. I enjoy the future fics, cos I can really imagine them happening. I also loved the way (tho this comment shudn't go here) that 'Open Up' could follow on from this, but doesn't necessarily have to! And for both this, and 'Open Up', I wish they didn't end! Thanx!

Hey just stopping by to say that fAst Forward was awesome. I loved it and who ever said it is right, Scout and Jill fit in there so well it was good to have them along for the ride. I love those two just as much as I love Jake and Hammie. Can't wait to read more fics
