Howdy! This one is hot off the press! I found this ad for an unnamed DIT yesterday (03/19/2004) while trying to find the opening date of the M-60 DIT in Mendon (Note: no luck yet, but I did find an ad for it in the Centreville Observer dated May 13, 1953 -Ten years before it was supposed to have opened!) Anyways here is the text of the ad: ### Centreville Observer, August 3, 1950, Page 6 Ad A Place to Go! OUTDOOR MOVIES Sit IN Your Car ----- SEE AND HEAR! Aug. 3 "Adventure of Michael Strogoff" Aug. 10 "Ghost and Mrs. Muir" Aug. 17 "Prisoner of Shark Island" Aug. 24 "Black Bart" (color) Aug. 30 "Night in Paradise" (color) ----- Thurs. ... LEONIDAS Fri. ... NOTTAWA Sat. ... PORTAGE LAKE (Che-Moke-Man's) A Show for the Whole Family We Pass the Hat Only # Isn't That great! It was a MOBILE Drive-In. On Thursday the third it was set up in Leonidas, on Friday the fourth it was set up eight miles away in Nottawa, and on Saturday the fifth it was set up six miles away in Portage Lake! NOTE: Chi-moke-man means "white man" according to a Google search. I'm not sure why that appears in the ad. This was the only ad I could find, and it appeared on the back page along with the classifieds in a poorly microfilmed copy. Anybody out there know anythinig else about this DIT? -Librarian ###
