transmission
I am wanting to convert my VL auto to a manual - how much will this cost me and where ins Sydney could I do it? I also dont know whether to get a Supra box put in or a stock VL Manual box put in, which do you suggest?

Hey dude, I had a standard MF5 in mt RB30e and I neede a new box. I got on to a place Called GRADAN GEARS in Alaxandria in Sydney, and they have some great gearboxes. One that I bought was a 200sx syncro and gears in a vl(MF5) housing as they are identical. One tuff box. I have had it for about 18 mths. It cost me $1150. Exchange.. A transplant will cost around $800.

A friend of mine had his stock Vl converted to a manual transmission and it cost him $1300 this included labor. Make sure you get a genuine vl gearbox MF5 in the stocks and MX7 in the turbos. The only reason I suggest this is because another friend of mine converted his Vl turbo to manual using a skyline box(1988 model) and for some reason the bell-housing on the box was smaller than the RB30ET standard box which meant he couldn't fit the regular sized clutch. The results of this means hes constantly burning out clutches roughly every 12 months.

i have just carried out auto to manual conversion on my vl turbo calais but now i need to know which wires to bridge out on the inhibitor /neutral safety switch i would be greatful if you could send me some information or wiring diagrams to show me what i have to do also what are the other two or three plugs on the manual trans? thanks heaps.
