Uh, I'd have to say a Collie. I saw the new version of Lassie recently and it's still on my mind. =)

There ain't no dog like a GSD!
I had a malamute once, he died back in october. I like huskies and Border Collies too, but the best dogs in the world are German Shepherd Dogs. They have a Husky like face, a Border Collie mind, and a heart of gold.

Oooh, I can never pic one favorite. ^.^ But Border Collies are just so...CUTE! But then, of course, there are huskies, Malamutes, GSDs, Labs, Golden Retrievers, Collies, Greyhounds, Whippets (one of my doggies is part Whippet. But her name's Athena, not Annabelle. *Snicker*), umm...Dachsunds, Dalmatians, Saint Bernards, Australian Cattle Dogs...the list goes on and on. And, of course, mutts, as they can look like any breed, or no breed at all. Both my doggies are mutts, from the shelter...Max has sort of a smell problem, and he's part Chow (Hehe, I've got pets I can compare with Nikki and Annabelle. ), so he's kinda wary about strangers, and may seem aggressive, but once you get to know him, and he decides to trust you, he's sweet.
Eep...there I go, babbling again...but it sounds like Enterprise is on, and I've missed too many episodes, so I'm going now anyway. *Poof*

My german shepherd mutt will always hold a special place in my heart... colouring of a german shepherd, floppy ears like a lab, short and stockier in build, a deep bark that belonged to a dog twice her size and this big wide grin. hehe.
I hope to someday get myself a Pembroke Welsh Corgi ( www.puppydogweb.com/canin...gi_pem.htm )... apparently they're one of the smartest small dogs--I live in an apartment--that you're going to find.

I prefer Cardigan Corgis, at least for looks, anyway...probably just because they have tails, and all. Hehe. But Pembrokes are cute, too...ever seen Murder She Purred? It's a Disney movie, slightly low-budget looking, but cute. Done in a Homeward Bound style, live action with talking animals, but just in voice-overs. Anyway, Tucker's a Pembroke, and he's cute. Blah, I forgot the cat's name, though. O.o Oh well. Hail Tucker, King of the Turkey Wall!

Corgis, lol, Queen Elizabeth has Corgis (sounds like a disease in that context doesn't it, lol). They're her favourite dog I think. Squat, stocky, cute, but not my kind of canine. I like big dogs, German Shepherds, Huskies, Samoyeds and all the ones that are fairly close to being wolves. You can actually do things with those sort of dogs, not like poodles and stuff and those really small dogs that would die if you rolled about with them.

I prefer big dogs too... I actually hate most small dogs since they tend to be brainless, yappy balls of fluff... but I also know from my experience with Jeep the German Shepherd that it's not practical for me to try to exercise a big dog... I could barely get her up to a trot walking along side my wheelchair.
But everything I've read seems to indicate that Corgis have the brains and confidence of a large dog in a small dog's body... which I think would be a good combination for me.

i like so many dogs..lets see if i was talking in context of my present living arrangment, id go for either a german shep or a border collie. if i have time in the future and more to the point, mopre money lol, id like to get back into husky mushing. i miss that. i want a wolf tho...not saying that as the average person thinking how cool it would be to have one lol. id like to rescue a hybrid from a pound or something...one where someones got it as a status symbol or someother reason and it didnt work out.

There's a fair amount of wolf in those hybrids. A friend of mine had a wolf/german shepherd and although his family loved him dearly he was definitely a special care kind of dog... the kind you walk softly around so as to not startle him or get him too worked up.
I remember I was at a birthday party at their house and, although I don't remember the reason, the dog bit the mother during the festivities... not a vicious bite or anything but I got the impression, as my friend started running around collecting first aid items, that this wasn't an uncommon occurence.
Well I've no objections to getting bitten so long as the wound isn't serious, lol. I do too much damage to myself with barbed wire and brambles to be worried about dog bites. Bet you your friend's dog would be good to go out hunting with though, or tracking.

my favorite kind of dog is a siberian husky! i have a jack russelle terrier. my neighbor use to have a wolf/germen shepard dog but he had to get rid of him because when they left to go somewhere he would chew up the door where the garage is!

Wow this must be one old thread! But I think no one cares anyway because this forum itself seems a little bit deserted. For everyone's info, I don't have a dog or a cat or any sort of pet (hmm, that rhymes nicely!). I like to have one, esp. a dog or a cat but my mum won't let me. Poor me. If I were to have a cat, I'll pick any kind, but if it's a dog, I'll most likely choose either a golden retriever, a husky, a malamute, an elkhound or any breed that looks like them. Ahaaah, I'm such a picky person, aren't I?

I like Rottwielers. They've always been my favorite. Probally because I grew up with one named Frank. I loved him so much! He passed away when he was 12 (in human years) I really miss him.
